Paul Mencinskas
Visitation for Paul Mencinskas, 60, of Villa Park, formerly of Lombard, will be held today, Oct. 3, 2007 at Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Oct. 4, at the funeral home. Interment is at Lithuanian National Cemetery.
Mr. Mencinskas is survived by his wife, Pat; daughter, Siobhan; brothers-in-law Gary (Connie) Tippett and Micky McDonald; and two nephews.
Mr. Mencinskas was raised in Cicero and was a veteran of the Vietnam War, having been a sergeant in the 1st Infantry Division, the "Big Red One." He was a former vice president in the industrial coatings industry, was a distinguished chairman of the Human Rights Commission of Chicago, a sponsor for the Komondor Society and was passionate about cooking and raising cacti.

C. Louis Podesta
C. Louis Podesta, 94, of Lombard, died Monday, Oct. 1, 2007 in Lombard.
Visitation will be today, Oct. 3, at Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Oct. 4, from the funeral home to Christ the King Catholic Church in Lombard, with the Rev. John Guiney officiating. Interment is at Assumption Cemetery in Winfield.
Mr. Guiney is survived by his wife, Evelyn R.; daughter, Kathleen (Thomas) Jochum; sister; Marie (the late Thomas) Schrier; sisters-in-law, Florence (the late William) Hawver and Jeanette (Robert "Bob") Kliebe; and three nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen.
Mr. Podesta was a bricklayer and a member of Local 56 BAC since 1948 and a member of VFW Post 2801 in Villa Park.
Memorials to St. Jude's Research Hospital or the Alzheimer's Association would be appreciated.
Wayne Brzoza
Wayne D. Brzoza, 63, of Lombard, died Monday, March 31, 2008 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 5, with prayers from Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard, to Mass at Christ the King Church in Lombard, with the Rev. Peter Jarosz officiating. Interment was at Resurrection Cemetery in Justice.
Mr. Brzoza is survived by his mother, Frances (the late Frank) Brzoza; sister, Donetta (Jeffrey) Frankiewicz of Lombard; and nephew and niece, Glenn (Davy) and Lila Frankiewicz.
Mr. Brzoza had worked as an industrial and commercial architect.

Carmello Calvino
Carmello "Carl" Calvino, 64, of Villa Park, died Monday, March 31, 2008 in Villa Park.
Funeral services were held Friday, April 4, from Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard, to Mass at St. Alexander Church in Villa Park, with the Rev. Tuan Van Nguyen officiating. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
Mr. Calvino is survived by six children; sister, Donna Lee (Charles) Parrillo; nieces, Tina (Robert) Spadoni, Cheryl (Kerry) Pastore and Donna (Claudio) Prunotto; and nine great-nieces and great-nephews.
Mr. Calvino had worked as a truck driver and was a longtime resident of Villa Park.

Edward Cech
Edward P. Cech, 90, of Addison, died Thursday, April 3, 2008 in Addison.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 7, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lombard, with the Rev. Daniel Wegrzyn officiating. Interment was at Concordia Cemetery in Forest Park.
Mr. Cech is survived by his children, Connie (Glenn) Woloszyk, Linda (Eddie) Clark, Susan (Joseph) Balsamo of Lombard, William (Elizabeth) Loebig and George (Shirley) Loebig; nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Raymond; and former wife, Rose. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth.
Mr. Cech was a resident of Addison for 48 years. He had worked for 34 years as a CTA bus driver, loved gardening in his yard and was an active member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Carlos DiPego
Carlos N. DiPego, 64, of Lombard, died Saturday, April 5, 2008 in Lombard.
Funeral services are private.
Mr. DiPego is survived by his children, Delia and Marcello; one grandson; brother, Richard (Elsa); one nephew; and fiancée, Sandy Casperson.
Mr. DiPego had been a resident of Lombard for nine years. He was a sports fanatic and a White Sox fan. He loved to golf, loved animals, was a great coach and had a sense of humor.

Elaine Hall
Elaine C. Hall, nee Heimerle, 85, of Villa Park, died Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at Lexington of Lombard.
Funeral services were held Friday, April 4, at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park. Interment was in Acacia Park.
Mrs. Hall is survived by her son, Norman R. Jr. "Skip" (Leane); three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and brother, Donald (Frieda) Heimerle. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman R. Sr.; children, John and Donna; and siblings, Myron (Florence) Heimerle and Dorothy (Gus) Strohm.
Virginia Kastory
A memorial visitation for Virginia "Ginny" Kastory, 88, of Downers Grove, formerly of Villa Park, was held Tuesday, April 8, 2008 at Toon Funeral Home, 4920 Main St., Downers Grove.
Mrs. Kastory is survived by her husband, Frank; children, Richard (Gayle) and Marilyn (Ronald) Czech; one grandson; siblings, Fran Wortman and Tom George; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Kastory was a member of Faith Methodist Church of Downers Grove and a longtime volunteer at the food pantry of Downers Grove "Fish."
