Mildred A. Kane
Mildred Agnes Kane, 83, of Aurora and a former resident of Chicago, died Thursday, April 4, 2002, in Roswell, Ga. She was born Sept. 8, 1918, in Chicago.
She is survived by two daughters, Sharon Lauder of Roswell and Karen Lehocky of Naperville; a son, Lawrence Kane of Madison, Wis.; three grandchildren; two sisters; and a brother.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Joseph Kane, on April 8, 2001.
Visitation will take place from 3 to 9 p.m. Friday, April 5, at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville.
A Mass of Christian burial will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 6, at St. Raphael Church, 1215 Modaff Road, Naperville. The Rev. William Donnelly will officiate.
Interment will be at Assumption cemetery in Wheaton.

Barbara Ashley Sielaff
Barbara Ashley Sielaff had a passion for the environment that made a difference in Naperville residents' lives forever.
Sielaff, founder of the Naperville Area Recycling Center, the city's inaugural recycling program, died at the age of 75 on Thursday in Vancouver, Wash., after a lengthy battle with progressive supranuclear palsy.
Sielaff's "You Can Save Our Earth" column ran in The Naperville Sun but continued tenaciously to write letters to the editor long after she moved to Denver with her family in 1979.
"She had a very interesting column that affected us all," longtime resident Peg Yonker said. "She was so into recycling, and that was the basis for the program we have today. She certainly had a lot of stick-to-itiveness."
Sielaff was born July 15, 1926, in Chicago and graduated in 1944 from Cleveland Heights High School in Ohio. She earned a bachelor's degree in education from Northwestern University in 1948. She was married
in 1949 in Wabash, Ind., to Richard W. Sielaff. They celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary June 12.
She was a schoolteacher for 20 years, primarily in the Naperville school system. She was a choir member and longtime Sunday school teacher at United Methodist Church. In 1973, she founded the Recycling Center and actively managed the center for many years. She was a dedicated and longtime activist for many environmental causes. Throughout the 1980s, she was a resident of Denver and worked as an English editor for accounting firms.
She is survived by her husband, Richard, of Vancouver; a sister, Marjorie Collins of Boulder, Colo.; a son, Carl Sielaff of Allentown, Pa.; a daughter, Ellen S. Ives of Vancouver; and three grandchildren, Jeffrey, David and Colton Ives of Vancouver.
Michael P. Slattery
Michael P. Slattery, 53, of Naperville died Wednesday, March 13, 2002, at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital. He was born Sept. 28, 1948, in Chicago and had been a resident of Naperville for the past 14 years.
He owned and operated Arthur P. O'Hara Office Furniture in Bellwood. He was a member of the Bellwood Chamber of Commerce and was named Businessman of the Year. He was a benefactor to the Boys and Girls Club in Bellwood, Mount Carmel High School and the Make-A-Wish Foundation. He enjoyed playing golf, watching high school sports and lifting weights. He was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Naperville.
He is survived by his wife, Mary (Riedeman) Slattery of Naperville; two sons, Michael of Chicago and Christopher of Naperville; two daughters, Kathryn and Mary Beth, both of Naperville; two brothers, John (Mary Fitzgerald) of Arlington Heights and Bill (Jean) of Chicago; six sisters, Mary Jo (Dave) Buczek of Dover, Mass., Maureen Slattery of Dowagiac, Mich., Kathleen Slattery of Los Angeles, Calif., Colette (Roger) Whelan of Chicago, Helen (Rudy) Agina of Chicago and Virginia (Mark) Watson of Portland, Ore.; and dear friends of the Arthur P. O'Hara Inc. family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Joseph and Helen (O'Hara) Slattery; and a brother, Brian.
Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday, March 17, at Beidelman-Kunsch Funeral Home, 24021 W. Royal Worlington Drive, Naperville. A funeral service will begin at 9 a.m. Monday, March 18, at the funeral home and proceed to a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian burial at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 1500 Brookdale Road, Naperville.
Interment will be at Assumption cemetery in Wheaton.
Memorials may be directed to a charity of the donor's choice.
Anne J. Pagano
Anne J. (Chreno) Pagano, 87, of Naperville and formerly of Chicago and Northlake, died Wednesday, March 27, 2002, at Tabor Hills Healthcare Facility in Naperville. She was born July 14, 1914, in Chicago.
She was a longtime resident of Chicago and a former member of St. Mark's Catholic Church. She also formerly owned and operated M&M Tavern in Chicago with her husband. She lived in Northlake from 1989 to 1999 and was a member of St. John Vianni Church.
She is survived by two children, Suzanne (husband Ron) Shanski of Dayton, Ohio, and Frank (wife Judy) Pagano of Louisville, Ky.; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a brother, Paul Chreno of San Diego.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Pagano, in December 2000.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, March 30, at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville.
A service will begin at 9 a.m. Monday, April 1, at the funeral home and proceed to a 9:30 a.m. Mass of Christian burial at SS Peter and Paul Church, 36 N. Ellsworth St., Naperville.
Entombment will be at Queen of Heaven Mausoleum in Hillside.

Stephanie Zakrzewski
Stephanie (Posluszny) Zakrzewski, 82, a resident of Naperville since 1993 and a former resident of Chicago, died Saturday, March 16, 2002, at Edward Hospital in Naperville. She was born April 1, 1919, in Trzesowka, Poland.
She grew up in Poland and was forced to work in a German labor camp in Austria during World War II. She married
Stanley Zakrzewski, a decorated veteran of the Polish Division of the British army, in 1947. They emigrated to the United States in 1951 and settled in Chicago's Brighton Park neighborhood, where she lived until 1993. She was a member of Five Holy Martyrs Catholic Church in Chicago and was a member of the Rosary Society.
She is survived by two children, Jane (husband John) Jiambalvo of Naperville and Maria (husband Richard) Barrett of New York City; four grandchildren, David and Stephanie Jiambalvo and Devon and Micaela Barrett; a sister, Frances Krawiec of Poland; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members in Poland.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents, Jan and Maria Posluszny; three brothers; and a sister.
Visitation took place Tuesday, March 19, at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville.
A funeral service will begin at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday, March 20, and proceed to a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian burial at St. Margaret Mary Church, 1450 Green Trails Drive, Naperville.
Interment will take place at Maryhill cemetery in Niles.
Mary E. Baird
Mary E. Baird, 81, a Bolingbrook resident since 1988, died Sunday, March 24, 2002, at Alden Healthcare Center in Naperville. She was born Oct. 12, 1920, in Avon.
She was manager of the payroll department at Maremont Corp. in Chicago for 20 years. She belonged to Ecumenical Adult Daycare in Naperville.
She is survived by a daughter, Cathleen (husband Benjamin) Kosiek; three grandchildren, David (wife Colleen), Danielle (husband Alvin) Burgin and Mary Kosiek; a sister-in-law, Frances Gordon; and several nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Sarah Gordon.
Visitation was held Monday, March 25, at Bolingbrook-McCauley Funeral Chapel and Crematorium.
A graveside committal took place Tuesday, March 26, at Avon cemetery in Avon.
Lee M. Beauchamp
Lee M. Beauchamp, 73, of Naperville died Wednesday, April 3, 2002, at Edward Hospital in Naperville. She was born March 27, 1929, in Chicago. She had been a resident of Naperville for the past six years, having previously resided in Amarillo, Texas.
A homemaker, she had been a member of Beautiful Saviour Lutheran Church in Amarillo and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by three daughters, Amy (husband Erik) Wayton of Naperville, Sharon (husband Jim) McMaster of Denton, Texas, and Jill (husband David) Thornton of Houston; two sons, Richard (wife Ingrid) Beauchamp of Yucaipa, Calif., and David Beauchamp of Amarillo; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary (husband Les) Flannery of New Lenox; and her special friend, Chloe.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Forrest Albert Beauchamp, in May 1979; and her parents, Eulios Lee and Theresa (Climer) Jones.
A memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, April 5, at Beidelman-Kunsch Funeral Home, 117 W. Van Buren Ave., Naperville. Visitation will take place from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 6, at Memorial Park cemetery in Amarillo.

John W. Branta
John William Branta, 88, a Downers Grove resident since 1926, died Tuesday, March 26, 2002, at home. He was born Aug. 29, 1913, in St. Augustine, Fla.
He held a management position with International Harvester. He was a member of Naperville Country Club.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Branta; a son, Jack (wife Crystal) Branta of Michigan; a daughter, Ann (husband Rick) Mueller of Burr Ridge; and five grandchildren, Jennifer and Kate Mueller and Jason, Jeffrey and Scott Branta.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John C. and Hazel Branta.
A memorial service will take place at 11:30 a.m. Monday, April 1, at St. Andrews Episcopal Church, 1125 Franklin St., Downers Grove.
Inurnment will be at Clarendon Hills cemetery in Darien.

Joseph W. Fahey
Joseph W. Fahey, 68, a resident of Naples, Fla., a and former resident of Naperville, died Friday, Feb. 22, 2002, in Naples. He was born Dec. 14, 1933, in Chicago.
He received a bachelor's degree from Illinois Benedictine College in 1955. He was employed in 1971 by Arthur J. Gallagher and Co. in Itasca and retired in 1995 as a corporate vice president. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a founding member of St. Margaret Mary Church in Naperville.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret J. (Devine) Fahey of Naples; a daughter, Therese F. Scully of Naperville; and a granddaughter, Kaitlin Scully.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Frances Ann Fahey; his parents, Thomas and Helen (Morley) Fahey; a brother, Thomas; and a sister, Marie Harding.
A memorial Mass will take place at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 21, at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 1450 Green Trails Drive, Naperville.
Interment will be private.

Earl D. Fagel
Earl David "Ed" Fagel, 71, of Naperville and formerly of Wheeling, died Tuesday, March 26, 2002, at Edward Hospital in Naperville. He was born April 23, 1930.
He had worked as a wholesale clothing sales representative and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
He is survived by a daughter, Sandi (husband Jim) Pappas of Zion; abrother, Harold (wife Shirley) Fagel of Palm Springs, Calif.; a niece, Nancy Brodner; two nephews, Marvin and Michael Fagel; and six great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria (Richt) Fagel; his parents, Bennie and Ida (Rappaport) Fagel; and two brothers.
A funeral service took place Wednesday, March 27, at Beidelman-Kunsch Funeral Home in Naperville.
Interment was private.

Stanley E. Edwards Jr.
Stanley E. Edwards Jr., 81, of Naperville died Sunday, April 4, 2004, at his home. He was born Jan. 14, 1923, in Chicago.
had been a resident of Naperville since 1988, moving here from Oak Lawn. After 33 years of service with International Harvester as a budget cost analyst, he retired in 1978. Post retirement, he worked part time at Glen Eagle Golf Course in Lemont as a starter and at Village Lakes Golf Course in Naperville as a tee cutter. He was a first lieutenant in World War II in the Army Air Corps and was a POW from June 1944 to April 1945.
He is survived by four daughters, Pat Edwards of Asheville, N.C., Margaret (husband Robert) Wolfe of North Webster, Ind., Kathleen Edwards of Plainfield and Elizabeth (husband William) Wick of Naperville; five grandchildren, Jennifer (husband Jerry Sessoms) Heron of Red Springs, N.C., Maggie (husband Michael) Bartch of Red Springs, Julie Bryja of Plainfield, Stacy (husband Eric) Salek of Chicago and Jessica Lawrence of Naperville; seven great-grandchildren, Estelle, Katie, Joey, Cole, Meg, Mary and Molly; a sister, Noel Samuels of Indian Head Park; a sister-in-law, Betty Edwards of Nilo, Mo.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley; a sister, Jerry Whitney; three brothers, Marcel, Paul and Raymond; and a brother-in-law, the Honorable Richard Samuels.
