David L. Edwards
David L. Edwards, 70, a resident of Dover, Tenn., and former resident of Lisle, died Thursday, March 28, 2002, at his home. He was born March 24, 1932, in Buffalo, N.Y.
He was a retired former salesman for Rowell Chemical Co. and a veteran of the Korean conflict.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Emily (Suckfelt) Edwards; five children, Sharon (husband Tom) Swan, Mark (wife Sue) Edwards, Paula Edwards, Bill (wife Cathy) Edwards and Christine (husband Steve) Snow; 12 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Visitation took place Monday, April 1, at Blake-Lamb Funeral Home in Lisle.
A funeral service took place Tuesday, April 2, at the funeral home.
Interment took place at Fairmount Willow Hills Memorial Park in Willow Springs.
Lucille L. McClure
Lucille L. McClure, 89, a resident of Indianola, Iowa, since 1978, died Thursday, May 16, 2002, at The Village Health Care Center in Indianola. She was born in Tabor, Iowa.
She had lived near St. Charles for several years before moving to the McCord Addition in Indianola in 1978. She lived at The Village in Indianola since 1994 and resided in the Health Care Center since 1999. A homemaker, she was a member of Trinity United Presbyterian Church in Indianola and the Woman's Farm Bureau. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, flowers and animals.
She is survived by her husband, Lawrence McClure of Indianola; a son, Warren (Marilyn Nissen) McClure of Naperville; a sister, Dorothy Patton of Langely, Wash.; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will take place from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday, May 20, at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola.

Robert K. Steunenberg
Robert Keppel Steunenberg, Ph.D., 77, a Naperville resident since 1951, died Sunday, May 26, 2002, at ManorCare of Naperville. He was born Sept. 18, 1924, in Caldwell, Idaho.
He earned his undergraduate degree at Albertson College, formerly the College of Idaho, in Caldwell, and his doctorate in chemistry at the University of Washington in Seattle in 1951. In 1987, he received an honorary science doctorate from the College of Idaho. He served as an ensign in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was on the ship LST 808, which was sunk on its maiden voyage off the coast of Okinawa in 1945. He and his shipmates were stranded on an island for nearly 30 days before being rescued. After the war, he became active in the reunions of his shipmates and was the editor of the organization's newsletter. He worked as a research chemist for 25 years at Argonne and was instrumental in the establishment of the Naperville Park District in 1966. He later served as a commissioner on the district board for six years. He was also active in bringing Naperville its first television station, NCTV. He was a longtime member of Grace United Methodist Church in Naperville and enjoyed gardening.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Adell (Smylie) Steunenberg; a sister, Joanne (husband Donovan) Carpender of Fort Collins, Colo.; and three nephews, David Carpender of Madison, Wis., Mark Carpender of Minneapolis and Bryon (wife Margie) Carpender of Gages Lake. He was a great-uncle of three.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ancil and Loraine (Brooks) Steunenberg.
A memorial service will take place at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, June 22, at Beidelman-Kunsch Funeral Home, 117 W. Van Buren St., Naperville. A memorial visitation will begin at noon.
Interment will be private.

Ovidio Martinez
Ovidio Martinez, 80, a Bolingbrook resident since 1993 and before that a Chicago resident since 1954, died Saturday, May 25, 2002, at Alden of Naperville. He was born Feb. 3, 1922, in Doctor Cross, Mexico.
He had attended St. Elizabeth Seton Church of Naperville since 1993 and was an active member of St. Callistus Catholic Church in Chicago. He retired from Brach Candy Co. in Chicago in 1977 after 20 years of service as a machinist.
He is survived by a daughter, Sylvia Martinez of Bolingbrook; three sons, Joe (wife Barbara) Martinez of Naperville, Oscar (wife Sandra) Martinez of Gurnee and Javier (wife Lisa) Martinez of Chicago; seven grandchildren, Michael, Lauren, Daniel, Marissa, Ryan, Kayla and Kyle; a brother, Ruben (wife Dora) Martinez of Monterrey, Mexico; and a sister, Rebecca Medina of Guadalajara, Mexico.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Areopagita "Paquita" (Salinas) Martinez; a brother; and four sisters.
Visitation will take place from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday, May 27, at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44. S. Mill St., Naperville.
Services will begin with prayers at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday, May 28, at the funeral home and proceed to a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian burial at St. Elizabeth Seton Church, 2220 Lisson Road, Naperville.
Interment will be private.

Daniel P. Brummel
Daniel P. Brummel, 50, of Batavia and formerly of Naperville, died Sunday, June 2, 2002, at Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora. He was born March 17, 1952, in Aurora.
He is survived by his wife, Jan, of Batavia; three daughters, Amy (husband Terry) Baum of Yorkville, Kristen (Andrew Morgan) Brummel of Batavia and Carrie Brummel of Batavia; three grandchildren, Hannah and Sam Baum and Jacob Brummel, and another soon to be born; his father, Joseph (wife Diane) Brummel of Aurora; a brother, Randy (wife Char) Brummel of Naperville; two sisters, Dianne (husband Rick) Baumgartner of Newark and Donna (husband Glenn) LeJeune of Sandwich; and 19 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Erna Mae (Balstrode) Brummel; his paternal grandparents, Mary and Joseph Brummel; and his maternal grandparents, Ernest and Irene Balstrode.
Visitation will take place from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, at Yurs-Peterson-Moss Funeral Home, 209 S. Batavia Ave., Batavia.
A funeral Mass will take place at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 6, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 2300 W. Main St., Batavia. He will lie in state at the church from 9:30 a.m. until time of service. The Rev. Brian Grady will officiate.
Interment will follow at Wheatland cemetery in Naperville.
John W. McGuane
John W. McGuane, 72, of North Aurora and a former Naperville resident, died Saturday, May 25, 2002, at his home. He was born April 28, 1930, in Chicago.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean conflict. He was a member of the Irish Club, Am Vets Post 103 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Judd Kendall Post 3873 of Naperville. He was a Chicago police officer for nine years.
He is survived by six sons, Randy McGuane, Jon (wife Jeanne) McGuane of North Aurora, Gary McGuane of Yorkville, Scott (wife Holly) McGuane of Carrollton, Texas, Craig (Michelle) McGuane of Somonauk and Shawn (wife Rachel) Heslin of Canoga Park, Calif.; nine grandchildren; a brother, Clifford Lindquist of California; a sister, Lily Ana Sarg of River View, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline; a son, Patrick; and his parents, John and Ruby Ione (Peterson) McGuane.
Visitation will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 29, at The Daleiden Lake Street Mortuary, 220 N. Lake St., Aurora.
Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 30, 2002, at The Daleiden Lake Street Mortuary. The Rev. Francis Daleiden will officiate.
Interment will take place at Abraham Lincoln National cemetery in Elwood.
Raymond L. Coons
Raymond L. Coons, 74, of Joliet died Tuesday, June 4, 2002, at Provena-St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet. He was born Feb. 13, 1928, in Burlington, Iowa.
He grew up in Burlington and served with the U.S. Army of Occupation after World War II from 1946 to 1950. He lived in Plainfield and Joliet for many years. He retired in 1985 from Allsteel Equipment Co. in Aurora after more than 30 years. He was a member of American Legion Post 1080 and the Fraternal Order of the Elks, both of Joliet. He enjoyed gardening, science fiction and collecting coins.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly R. (Licht) Coons of Joliet, whom he married
Sept. 10, 1988; five children, Steven (wife Linda) Coons of Naperville, Gerald Coons of Momence, Raymond (wife Kim) Coons of Valrico, Fla., Trudy Coons of Cortez, Colo., and Marie (husband Randy) McMahel of Rockdale; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Shirley (husband Bud) Swanson of Hot Springs, Ark.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Gertrude (Koelling) Coons in 1983; a granddaughter, Tina Papoff; his parents, Walter and Winifred Coons; and four brothers, Ralph, Donald, Robert and Merle Coons.
A graveside service will begin at 11 a.m. Friday, June 7, at Plainfield Township cemetery in Plainfield. The Rev. Suzanne Hurdle will officiate.

Mary E. Crabb
Mary Elizabeth (Warner) Crabb, 53, of Montgomery and formerly of Wheaton and Glen Ellyn, died Saturday, May 25, 2002, following a long illness.
She was a longtime employee of IBM-Lucent-Bell Labs in Naperville.
She is survived by a daughter, Kelly; a son, Robert (wife Carol) Warner; and three daughters, Kathleen (husband John) Fischer, Pamela (husband Dean) Metcalf and Judith (husband Michael) Brewster.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Cecilia Warner; a sister, Mary Lou; and her grandparents, an aunt and uncles.
Visitation will take place from 3 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, May 29, at The Leonard Memorial Home, 565 Duane St., Glen Ellyn.
Funeral services will begin at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, May 30, at the funeral home and precede to a Mass at St. Petronille Church in Glen Ellyn.

Erica Marie Aubrey
Erica Marie (Caliendo) Aubrey, 25, briefly of Aurora and a Plainfield resident since 1992, died Friday, Aug. 27, 2004, in Marseilles. She was born Feb. 1, 1979, in Aurora.
She is survived by her son, Hunter James Aubrey; her mother, Linda D. (husband James F.) Lotz Popp of Oswego; her father, Anthony F. (wife Mary L.) Caliendo of Plainfield; three siblings, Adriana M., Vincent G. and Alyssa N. Caliendo, all of Plainfield; a stepsister, Jackie M. (husband Michael) Popp Benson of Oak Park; a stepbrother, Tyler J. (wife Robin) Popp of Denver, Colo.; her grandparents, Kenneth R. and Anna L. Lotz of Aurora; Mary G. (late husband James) Popp of Chicago; and Marilyn and Ray Pfersdorf of Sun Lakes, Ariz.; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Erica was preceded in death by her grandparents, Michael and Shirley Caliendo.
Erica attended Indian Trail Middle School, Plainfield, and was a 1997 graduate of Plainfield High School. She was employed by the U.S. Postal Service in Newark as a distribution clerk. She enjoyed being a mother and was a member of St. Mary Immaculate Church, Plainfield.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 30, at Overman-Jones Funeral Home, 309 S. Joliet Road, Plainfield. Services will begin at 9:45 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 31, at the funeral home and will proceed to a 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian burial at St. Mary Immaculate Church, 129 S. Division St., Plainfield, with Rev. Tony Nugent officiating.
Interment will be held at St. Mary Immaculate cemetery, Plainfield.

Ruth A. Aubrey
Ruth A. (Hoffman) Aubrey, 80, a resident of the Darien and Downers Grove areas for 52 years, died Friday, Aug. 2, 2002, at her Darien home. She was born Aug. 14, 1921, in Chicago.
She served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a pharmacist third class. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by two daughters, Kyle (husband Richard) Gilgis of Downers Grove and Jill Aubrey of Naperville; a son, Charles A. II (wife Elizabeth) of Michigan; six grandchildren, Elizabeth (husband Mark) Pihart, Anthony (wife Candy) Gilgis and Charles A. III, Faith, Hope and Joy Aubrey; two great-grandsons, Christopher Gilgis and Charles A. Pihart; and a sister, Corrine Larsen of California.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles A. Aubrey, in 1989; a granddaughter, Heather; and her parents, Robert and Corrine Hoffman.
Visitation took place Monday, Aug. 5, at Toon Funeral Home in Downers Grove.

Blanche M. Pugliese
Blanche M. (McGovern) Pugliese, 88, of Naperville died Sunday, July 21, 2002, at her home. She was born Sept. 9, 1913, in Pittsburgh.
She was a graduate of St. Mary's College at Notre Dame University in South Bend, Ind., where she met her future husband, Anthony. She worked as a social worker in Pittsburgh during the Great Depression before moving to the Bronx, N.Y., after she was married
. In addition to raising her family, she taught kindergarten in a Bronx parochial school for many years. A member of SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Naperville, she attended daily Mass for most of her life and was devoted to the rosary, usually saying 15 decades each day. Her great joy was participating in the activities of her two sons and their families. She faithfully attended Naperville Municipal Band concerts.
She is survived by two sons, John (wife Mary Lou) Pugliese of Glen Ellyn and Dr. Richard W. (wife Dee) Pugliese of Naperville; 12 grandchildren, Brian (wife Anne) Pugliese, Gretchen (husband Donn) Renfro, Janet Pugliese, Kevin (wife Lisanne) Pugliese, Eileen (husband James) Hall, Patrick Pugliese, Timothy Pugliese, Christine (husband Martin) Will, Anne (husband Derek) Kasprzak, Kathleen (husband Brett) Fleury, and Kerry and Sharon Pugliese; eight great-grandchildren, Ryan, Megan, John, Abigale, Emily, Nicholas, Brendan and Daniel; a brother, John (wife Jane) McGovern of Tucson, Ariz.; and three nephews, John, Thomas and Mark Dean.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony J. Pugliese, in 1985.
