Cheryl L. Scalpelli
Cheryl L. Scalpelli, 55, a lifelong resident of Lisle, died Wednesday, June 5, 2002, at Edward Hospital in Naperville. She was born Sept. 8, 1946, in Aurora.
She was a member of St. Joan of Arc Church in Lisle.
She is survived by her husband, Bill Scalpelli of Lisle; a son, Paul Scalpelli of Plainfield; her father, Edward L. Linchester of Lisle; and a brother, Edward A. Linchester of Lisle.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Juanita Linchester.
Visitation will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 7, at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville.
A Mass of Christian burial will begin at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, June 8, at St. Joan of Arc Church, Kingston and Front streets, Lisle.
Interment will take place at SS Peter and Paul cemetery in Naperville.

Lucille F. Ryba
Lucille F. (Zajaczek) Ryba, 80, a Naperville resident since 1983 and resident of Bellwood from 1953 to 1983, died Wednesday, May 29, 2002, at her home. She was born Oct. 28, 1921, in Chicago.
She was a member of SS Peter and Paul Church since 1983 and was a longtime member of St. Simeon's Catholic Church and Altar and Rosary Society in Bellwood. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters at SS Peter and Paul. She was a member of the Polish Women's Civic Association of Chicago. She served on the board of directors for the Cystic Fibrosis Association and chaired the Christmas party for more than 20 years. She was a longtime member of Widows or Widowers of Villa Park. She worked for 25 years as a baker in Proviso Township School District 209, retiring in 1991.
She is survived by two daughters, Susanne (husband Frank) Abbeduto of Naperville and Alyce Ryba of Naperville; a son, Paul (wife Linda) Ryba of Sugar Grove; four grandchildren, Annalise (husband William) Barlog of Lombard, Peter (wife Gina) Abbeduto of Chicago, Deborah Ryba of Chicago and Lauren Ryba of Sugar Grove; and a sister, Emily Pinter of Sun City, Ariz.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Ryba; two daughters, Marcia and Lisa Ryba; and a sister, Adeline Pinter.
Visitation is scheduled from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 31, at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville, where a service will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 1, and proceed to a 9:30 a.m. Mass of Christian burial at SS Peter and Paul Church, 36 N. Ellsworth St., Naperville.
Entombment will be at Queen of Heaven cemetery in Hillside.

Leonard Altimari
Leonard Altimari, 81, a resident of the Naperville and Warrenville areas for 14 years, died Monday, June 3, 2002, at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield. He was born Nov. 13, 1920, in Torrington, Conn., where he was raised.
He was a graduate of Torrington High School. He served as a chief petty officer on the USS Texas during World War II. After the war, he earned a degree in business administration from the University of Rochester in New York. He moved to Terre Haute, Ind., and later to Chicago, where he began a successful career in the personnel industry, owning and operating nine employment agencies. He also worked as a congressional aide for more than 20 years before retiring in the early 1980s. He was a member of St. Irene Catholic Church in Warrenville and enjoyed power walking.
He is survived by three children, Jamie Altimari of Naperville, Anthony F. (wife Jayne) Altimari, M.D., of Winfield and Leonard T. Atlimari of Chicago; three grandchildren, Emily, Eric and Marc; six siblings, Jennie Britton, Carmen (wife Dodo) Altimari, Dominic (wife Rose) Altimari, Mary (husband Bill) Tino, Molly Faccin and Dolly Hebb, all of Torrington; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Antonio and Catherine Altimari.
Visitation will take place from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville.
A service will begin at 9:15 a.m. Thursday, June 6, at the funeral home and proceed to a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian burial at St. Irene Church, 28W531 Warrenville Road, Warrenville. The Rev. James Antiporek will officiate.
Interment will be private.

Elmer T. Adrian
Elmer T. Adrian, 93, of Naperville died Monday, May 20, 2002, at Edward Hospital in Naperville. He was born June 10, 1908, in Harris, Iowa, and had recently moved to Independence Village in Naperville.
He lived most of his life in Des Moines, Iowa. He was a 1925 graduate of East High School. He was an active member of Union Park Methodist Church. He enjoyed writing, and published a novel, "Thorson's Bay," in June 2000. His poetry had been published in "Lyrical Iowa" every year for the past 25 years. He also had poetry in "Tasteberries for Teens." He was a member of the Alpha chapter of the Iowa Poetry Society for many years. He was a jeweler and he owned and operated Adrian Diamond Shop, until his retirement in 1975. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, stationed at Camp Sibert in Alabama.
He is survived by two sons, Richard (wife Barbara) Adrian of Freemantle, Western Australia, and J. Mark (wife Sally) Adrian of Naperville; four grandchildren, Kristin Adrian of Floreat Park, Western Australia, Julie Adrian of Wembley Downs, Western Australia, Catherine Adrian of Indianapolis and Dan Adrian of Naperville; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy L. (Wright) Adrian; and his parents, August Theodore and Catherine (Thodt) Adrian.
A memorial service took place Thursday, May 23, at Union Park Methodist Church, 2305 E. 12th St., Des Moines, IA 50362, where memorials may be directed.
Interment was private.

Alexander S. Roches
Alexander S. Roches, 83, of Naperville died Tuesday, May 21, 2002, at Meadowbrook Manor in Naperville. He was born Oct. 28, 1918, in Chicago.
He was an honorary member of the Knights of Columbus Council 7353 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 03246, both in Mountain Home, Ark. He served four and a half years in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Lauretta (Grabinski) Roches; a daughter, Arlene "Lee" (husband Robert) Petersen; two grandchildren, Carl and Laura; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Daniel Roches; his parents, Leonard and Sophie Roches; and four siblings, Paul, Joseph, Sophie and Stella.
A memorial service will take place at a later date.
Interment will be private at St. Casimir's cemetery in Chicago.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to a charity of the donor's choice.

Barb Miller Hennon
Barb Miller Hennon of Hot Springs, Ark., died Thursday, May 16, 2002, at St. Joseph Advance Care Hospital in Hot Springs, after a five-month battle with multiple myeloma.
With a bachelor's degree in dance and theater arts, she had a passion for dance and was an avid dancer all her life. After intensive study with dance masters of Chicago and New York, she worked professionally as a member of the Royale Canadian Ballet and the Ruth Page Opera Ballet. As a professional choreographer and teacher of ballet and tap, she taught for more than 45 years and managed her own studios in Naperville and later in Greencastle and Crawfordsville, Ind. For many years, she was a member of the National Association of Dance and Affiliated Artists and a member of the Chicago Association Dance Masters. Her last dance venues were as an enthusiastic member of the HSV Line Dancing Group in the Village and the McCauley Center.
She is survived by her husband of 22 years, Reed Hennon; a son, Steve (wife Carol) Miller and their five children, Heather, Sarah, Steven, Kevin and Eric, all of Naperville; three stepdaughters, Becky Nicholson and Joe Bauer, both of Indiana, and Beth Hennon of New Jersey; and a brother, Kent Hennon of Illinois.
Johanna Grossman
Johanna (Kennedy) Grossman, 66, of Naperville died Sunday, June 2, 2002, at home. She was born Aug. 15, 1935, in County Waterford, Ireland.
She was a resident of Naperville for the past 11 years and formerly of Villa Park. In 1956, she came to the United States from Ireland.
She is survived by her husband of 21 years, Richard P. Grossman of Naperville; three children, Kathleen (husband Patrick) Wolf of Downers Grove, Mary (husband George) Bacakos of Bartlett and Kevin Foster of Florence, Ky.; three stepchildren, Richard (wife Angie) Grossman of Bolingbrook, James (wife Stephanie) Grossman of Appleton, Wis., and Christine (husband Brian) Isor of San Antonio; 13 grandchildren; a brother, Watt Kennedy; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Bridget (Malone) Kennedy; three brothers; and four sisters.
A Mass of Christian burial will take place at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 5, preceded by an hour of visitation, at St. Patrick's Chapel, 1400 Brookdale Road, Naperville.
Interment will be at Queen of Heaven cemetery in Hillside.
Visitation also was held Tuesday, June 4, at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home in Naperville.
David Gambino
David Gambino, 69, a former longtime resident of West Chicago and a resident of North Aurora for the past year, died Thursday, June 6, 2002, at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield. He was born Aug. 22, 1932, in Chicago.
He was president of Kettell-Gambino Builders of Naperville and past president of the Northern Illinois Home Builders. He served his country in the U.S. armed forces.
He is survived by his wife, Dolores (Kelly); four children, Linda (husband Anthony) Aguilar and David (wife Mary), Mark (wife Deborah) and Daniel (wife Grace) Gambino; five grandchildren, Ashley, Matthew and Kaylee Aguilar and Jonathan and Lauren Gambino; two brothers, George (wife Charlotte) and Vincent; and a sister, Frances Chierico.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Henry, Anthony, Fred and Albert; and a sister, Antoinette.
Visitation will take place from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday, June 10, at Williams-Kampp Funeral Home, 430 E. Roosevelt Road, Wheaton.
A funeral service will begin at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 11, at the funeral home.
Interment will take place at Glen Oak cemetery in Hillside.

Annette Wall Dowdle
Annette Wall Dowdle, 66, of Monroe, Ga., died Friday, May 31, 2002. She was born in Jackson, Miss.
She was a 1953 graduate of Central High School. Her early career was a banker in commercial lending in Jackson and in Houston. Later, she served with the U.S. Department of Education in Atlanta. She married
Billy Lee Dowdle on March 17, 1962. Over the years, they made their home in Orlando, Fla.; Atlanta; Norcross, Ga.; and Naperville. Upon retirement in 1990, they settled in Monroe.
An active church member all her life, she was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Jackson, Wieuca Road Baptist Church in Atlanta, John Wesley United Methodist Church in Norcross, Wesley United Methodist Church in Naperville and Ray Memorial Presbyterian Church in Monroe. She served in many church capacities and functions, and was an ordained elder in the Presbyterian Church USA.
She was devoted to her faith, family, friends and people in need. She loved animals and was a diligent protector of those in her care.
She is survived by her husband; two brothers, William Carey Wall Jr. and James Milton Wall, both of Jackson; and three sisters, Betty Jean Wall Secks of Milwaukee, Mary Cecilia Wall Szeles of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Ruby Lynn Wall McGrew of Thornton, Colo.
A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 5, at Ray Memorial Presbyterian Church in Monroe.

Ardath L. Drendel, 88, of Naperville died Friday, May 24, 2002, at Meadows Mennonite Retirement Home in Chenoa. She was born April 26, 1914, in Naperville.
She was a lifelong Naperville resident. She was a former member of St. Raphael Church and SS Peter and Paul Church. She was a member of 55 Dance Club.
She is survived by a daughter, Patricia (husband Donald) Martin of Oswego; two sons, Gilbert (wife Carol) Drendel of Batavia and Gerald (wife Jean) Drendel of Streator; five grandchildren, Kevin G. Drendel, Denise Foster, Brian Drendel, Mark D. Drendel and Michael C. Drendel; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Drendel, in 1989; her parents, Henry and Elsie Miller; and a sister, Henrietta Mueller.
Visitation will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 28, at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville.

Ruth S. Bolin Burke
Ruth S. (Stoughton) Bolin Burke, 87, a Naperville resident since 1936, died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2004, at her home. She was born Nov. 30, 1916, in Rogers, Ark.
She was employed by Dr. R.J. Fanning as an office manager from 1946 to 1966 and by Harris Bank in Naperville from 1966 to 1981. She was a longtime member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Naperville, and its Dorcas Circle and Care and Share groups. She was an avid pinochle player. She lived in Endeavor, Wis., from 1986 to 1994 before returning to Naperville.
She is survived by a daughter, Marsha Bolin of Naperville; two stepchildren, Jane (husband Mike O'Brien) Burke of Naperville and Tim (wife Teri) Burke of Naperville; a granddaughter, Bridget Burke of St. Louis; a daughter-in-law, Anne Burke of St. Louis; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Howard Bolin; her second husband, Joseph Burke; a stepson, Marty Burke; her parents, Dr. Elmer and Esther Stoughton; a brother, Maj. Edgar Stoughton; and two sisters, Marjorie Husser and Dorothy Becker.
Visitation will take place from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13, at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville.
