Russel S. Snell
Russel S. Snell, 81, a 50-year resident of Downers Grove, died Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2002, at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield.
He was an environmental engineer for Best Foods, retiring in 1983 after 30 years of service. He was a veteran of World War II, serving as a pilot in the U.S. Navy.
He is survived by two children, Catherine (husband Paul) Linnen of Naperville and James C. Snell of Downers Grove, and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Anne (Barry) Snell.
Visitation will take place from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 14, at Adams-Winterfield and Sullivan Funeral Home, 4343 Main St., Downers Grove.
Services and interment will be private.

Rosemarie Nevills
A memorial service will take place at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Seminar Room, 1310 Shepherd Drive, Naperville, for Rosemarie Nevills.
Nevills, 63, a resident of Chandler, Ariz., for nine years and a former resident of Naperville, died Saturday, Sept. 28, 2002, in Chandler. She was born Dec. 9, 1938, in Chicago.
After retiring to Arizona, she became an active member of the Sun Bird Community. She was a devoted mother and homemaker.
She is survived by four children, Phillip (wife Laurie) Nevills of Oswego, Michele Nevills of Chandler, Janine (husband Dave) Morton of Chandler and Renee Reed of Naperville; five grandchildren, Diana Nevills, Elliot Nevills, Joanna Nevills, Ryan Morton and Alisha Reed; her mother, Theresa P. Thomas of Chandler; a sister, Phyllis (husband Dominic) Zaccone of Chandler; a brother, Frank (wife Vera) Thomas Jr. of Lisle; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Phillip Nevills, and her father, Frank Thomas.
A memorial service took place Wednesday, Oct. 2, at Chandler Christian Church in Chandler, Ariz. Interment was private.

Gilbert J. Carraro
Gilbert John Carraro, 91, of Lisle died Friday, Sept. 27, 2002, at Edward Hospital in Naperville. He was born April 21, 1911, in Chicago.
He had been a resident of the Devonshire in Lisle for the past five years, coming from Cicero. He graduated from Morton High School. He was a production supervisor for Reliable Electric, retiring in 1977 after 15 years of service. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Cardinal Council 1691 in Cicero. He was active in youth sports and was a member of St. Joan of Arc Church in Lisle.
He is survived by two sons, Philip (wife Ursula) Carraro of London and Kenneth (wife Laura) Carraro of Portland, Ore.; two daughters, Catharine (husband Walter) Sedlacek of Naperville and Nancy Cobb of Western Springs; a sister, Yolanda Brani of Glen Ellyn; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Carraro; his parents, Andrew and Angeline Carraro; four brothers, Anthony, Romeo, Melvin and William Carraro; and a sister, Irene Mozier.
Visitation will take place from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30, at Beidelman-Kunsch Funeral Home, 516 S. Washington St., Naperville.
A funeral will begin at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, at the funeral home and proceed to a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joan of Arc Church, 1005 Division St., Lisle.
Interment will take place at Mount Carmel cemetery in Hillside.

Florence A. Smith
Florence A. "Flo" (Klima) Smith, 88, a resident of Naperville since 1992, died Thursday, Oct. 10, 2002, at her home. She was born April 5, 1914, in Forest Park.
She was a graduate of Proviso East High School in Maywood. She married
Elroy Smith on June 19, 1937, and she lived in Forest Park, Oak Park and Westchester before moving to North Fort Meyers, Fla., in the 1980s. She was employed by Production Steel Co. in Westchester for many years. She was a member of St. Timothy Lutheran Church in Naperville. She enjoyed arts, ceramics and decorating.
She is survived by a daughter, Karin (husband Joseph Schafer) Vojtech of Naperville; four grandchildren, Kathryn (husband Ken) Smith of Bartlett, Kenneth Andrew Vojtech of Naperville, Kevin (wife Stacy) Vojtech of Warrenville and Kari (husband Luke Martin) Vojtech of Naperville; three great-grandchildren, Kyle, Abby and Danny Smith; two nieces, Barb (husband Dennis) Vesci of Carmel, Ind., and Joyce Horvath of Arlington Heights; three nephews, Norman (wife Cathy) Carlson of North Riverside; Edward (wife Kas) Carlson of Minocqua, Wis., and Rick (wife Marilyn) Smith of Michigan; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elroy Smith; her parents, Andrew and Elizabeth Klima; and a sister, Violet Carlson.
Visitation will take place from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 13, at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville. Additional visitation will take place from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 14, at St. Timothy Lutheran Church, 1313 N. Mill St., Naperville, and a funeral service will follow at 10:30 a.m. in the church.
Family and friends will meet at 1 p.m. Oct. 14 at the church for a procession to the graveside services at Mount Emblem cemetery in Elmhurst.

Thomas E. Scoville
Thomas Eugene "Tom" Scoville, 56, a 30-year resident of Lisle, died Friday, Sept. 27, 2002, at his home in Lisle. He was born Dec. 26, 1945, in Elkhart, Ind.
He worked as an engineer for many years for AT&T and Lucent Technologies. He served in the U.S. Navy.
He is survived by a daughter, Lisa Scoville, and a son, Ryan Scoville, both of Chicago; his mother, Mary, of Elkhart; a brother, Dave Scoville of Elkhart; and his former wife, Jane Scoville of Darien.
He was preceded in death by his father, Howard Scoville; and a brother, John Scoville.
A memorial service will take place at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8, at First Presbyterian Church of Aurora, 325 E. Downer Place, Aurora, IL 60505.
Interment will be private.

Anna L. S. Maughan
Anna Louise Sharp Maughan, 85, of Naperville died Friday, Sept. 20, 2002, at St. Patrick's Residence in Naperville. She was born March 16, 1917, in Clark County, Ohio.
She graduated from Catawba High School in Catawba, Ohio, and a business college in Springfield, Ohio. She worked for many years as a secretary for State Farm Insurance in Dayton, Ohio. She was an avid sports fan and liked to cheer on the Cincinnati Reds, the Ohio State football team and the University of Dayton basketball team. She was a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church in Springfield and volunteered with various organizations and at nursing facilities. She was a life member of the Ladies' Auxiliary to Judd Kendall Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3873 in Naperville.
She is survived by two sons, Philip (wife Marcy) Maughan of Naperville and Michael Maughan of Worthington, Ohio; a daughter, Kathleen (husband Ed) Rafferty of Herndon, Va.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Mary (Hanrahan) Sharp; her husband of 55 years, Paul Maughan, who died in December 2001; and five siblings.
Visitation will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 23, at Conroy Funeral Home, 1660 E. High St., Springfield, Ohio.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24, at St. Teresa Catholic Church in Springfield.
Interment will take place at St. Bernard cemetery in Springfield.

Jeanne A. Mansfield, 61, a resident of Naperville since 1968, died Saturday, Sept. 28, at her home. She was born June 24, 1941, in Dallas.
She served as principal accountant for the city of Warrenville and received the Lucy Bernard Pacesetter Award for outstanding service.
She is survived by three daughters, Erin (husband Mark) Cetera of Naperville, Letitia Mansfield of Traverse City, Mich., and Mary Mansfield of Savoy; two grandchildren, Courtney and Connor Cetera; a friend, Don Kemph of Naperville; four sisters, Marianne (husband Jack) Coffman of Elk Grove Village, Trudi (husband Bill) Kissling of Urbana, Kathy (husband Doug) Edison of Downers Grove and Patricia Sutton of Hanover Park; and a brother, James Lunn of Arlington, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Catherine Lunn, and a brother, Jack Lunn.

Phyllis C. Ohm
Phyllis C. Ohm, 79, a resident of Warrenville and former resident of Kewanee, died Saturday, Sept. 21, 2002, at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield. She was born June 9, 1923, in Kewanee to Percival Clarence and Anna Lillian (Swanson) Koch.
She graduated from Kewanee High School in 1941 and married
Frank Ohm - whom she met at a skating rink in Sparland - on Aug. 10, 1941, in Kahoka, Mo. She had worked at the Galva Creamery and enjoyed cooking and collecting recipes. She was an avid reader and loved animals, life on the farm and the Kewanee Hog Day's parade. While residing in Warrenville, she attended Naperville Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Penny Ohm of Warrenville and Sue Riordan of Peru, Ill.; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, on Aug. 15, 1998; and a brother, James Hollister Koch.
Cremation rites were accorded. Graveside inurnment will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, at Milo Mound cemetery in rural Bradford. The Rev. Mike Marcey of Naperville Presbyterian Church will officiate.

Thomas E. Boyce, 88, of Naperville died Thursday, Sept. 19, 2002, at Edward Hospital in Naperville. He was born May 8, 1914, in Chicago.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II. He was a resident of Independence Village in Naperville.
He is survived by five children, Roberta Fahey Rusnak, John (wife Edie) Fahey, Marion (husband Robert) Bryant, Noreen (husband Nick) Cecola and Michele (husband Ron) Zamiar; 14 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; three sisters, Margaret (husband James) Japhel, Myrtle and Charlotte; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Frieda (Milasius Fahey), and a brother, Graham.
A private memorial service was held Saturday, Sept. 28.

Antoinette "Nana" Galas
Antoinette "Nana" Galas, 94, of Naperville died Friday, Oct. 4, 2002, at Meadowbrook Manor in Naperville. She was born April 5, 1908, in Chicago. She had been a former resident of the Charles Court Apartments in Naperville.
She worked for many years for Western Electric and did volunteer social work through her church and the American Red Cross. She also worked with many immigrants and helped them acclimate to the United States. She had been a member of SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Naperville.
She is survived by many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews in the United States, England and Poland.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Antoinette Galas, and several brothers and sisters.
Visitation will take place from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, at Beidelman-Kunsch Funeral Home, 516 S. Washington St., Naperville.
