Barbara Bernau
Barbara (Chuhak) Bernau, 55, a Warrenville resident for the past five years and a former resident of San Francisco and Chicago, died Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2002, at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield. She was born Aug. 5, 1947, in Chicago.
She graduated from DePaul University and John Marshall Law School. She then followed her father by entering the legal profession. She practiced in Chicago, specializing in guardian ad litem matters in probate court. She had numerous legal associates.
She is survived by a daughter, Sarah J. Bernau of San Francisco; two sisters, Carol Clark (husband Ken) Martin of Ocean Isle Beach, N.C., and Margie (husband Larry) Kienlen of Lisle; a loving companion, Al Haney of Warrenville; eight nieces and nephews, J.D., Brian, Lindsey, Kelly, Courtney, Mark, Kimberly and Pete; and six great-nieces and great-nephews, T.J., Danny, Katy, Carter, Cade and Jack.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Alice (Algren) Chuhak; a brother, Steven Chuhak; and a nephew, Steve Kienlen.
A funeral service will begin at 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville. Visitation will begin at 4 p.m.
Interment will be private.

Helen M. Wagle
Helen Marie Wagle, 84, a resident of Wyndemere Retirement Community in Wheaton, died Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2002, in Wheaton. She was born Sept. 28, 1918, in Staten Island, N.Y.
She graduated in 1941 from Lenox Hill Hospital School of Nursing in New York. She served in World War II as a registered nurse in the 12th Evacuation Hospital with General Patton's Army. Before retiring from nursing, she worked as head nurse at the Christian Sanitarium in Wyckoff, N.J.
She is survived by her husband, Gilmour L. Wagle; three daughters, Lesley (husband Bill) Conrad of Naperville, Gretchen (husband Pat) McCaskey of Lake Forest and Pamela (husband Brad) Bradley of Wheaton; and two sisters, Evie Dalane of New Jersey and Jean Ike of California.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Mary Beckvar, and a sister, Irene Salvesen.
A memorial service will take place at 4 p.m. Monday, Oct. 14, in the Fireside Room at College Church in Wheaton, Washington and Seminary streets.
Interment will be held privately at Abraham Lincoln National cemetery, near Joliet.

Albert A. Meersman
Albert A. Meersman, 84, of Moline died Sunday, Oct. 6, 2002, at Westmont Convalescent Center. He was born April 24, 1918, in Moline.
He married
Lillian L. DeSmet on April 27, 1940, in East Moline. He was a machine operator at John Deere Harvester in East Moline for 18 years and retired in 1983. He was a member of Catholic Order of Foresters Sacred Heart Court 1691 and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Moline.
He is survived by a daughter, Nancy (husband Augie) Geraci of Naperville; a son, Jim (wife Kathy) Meersman of Flat Rock, N.C.; six grandchildren, Jill Van Pelt, Ann Griffiths, Greg and Mike Meersman, and Jeff and John Geraci; and three sisters, Rose Marie VandeVoorde of Coal Valley, Elaine Callahan of Mesa, Ariz., and Evelyn Welvaert of Moline.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian, on Feb. 15, 1997, and his parents, Alphonse and Cyrilla (DeVrieze) Meersman.
Visitation will take place from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, at DeRoo Funeral Home, 1611 Seventh St., Moline.
A funeral service will begin at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, at the funeral home and proceed to a 10 a.m. Mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Moline.
Entombment will be at St. Mary's Mausoleum in East Moline.

Brian S. Ericson
Brian Scott Ericson, 58, of Aurora died Monday, Aug. 5, 2002, at Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora. He was born Dec. 13, 1943, in New Rochelle, N.Y.
He was employed as sales manager at International Tool Box Co. in Naperville for the past 12 years. He graduated in 1965 from Lehigh University in Pennsylvania. He enjoyed playing golf and bridge and traveling.
He is survived by his wife, Patsy Ericson; two grandchildren, Lonny Davis and Sophia Davis, both of St. Louis; and his mother, Myra Ericson of Ithaca, N.Y.
He was preceded in death by his father, Louis Ericson.
A memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 9, at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m.
Interment will be private.
Evelyn Clow Dwyer
Evelyn Clow Dwyer, 91, a resident of Naperville and former resident of Plainfield, died Monday, Aug. 5, 2002, at her home. She was born Nov. 7, 1910, in Plainfield Township.
She had taught school in Aurora, Plainfield and Oak Brook school districts.
She is survived by three children, Eve Dwyer of Tucson, Ariz., Richard (wife Audrey) Dwyer of Downers Grove and Dennis (wife Barbara) Dwyer of Naperville; seven grandsons, Tim, Jim and John Kness and Matt, Brian, William and Steven Dwyer; four great-grandchildren, Caroline Kness and Holly, Adam and Jasmine Dwyer; a niece; and four nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Helen Clow; and a sister, Grace Clow How.
A funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m.
Interment will take place at Wheatland cemetery.

Mary E. Owens
Mary E. (Cosino) Owens, 56, of Lisle died Wednesday, July 24, 2002, at her home. She was born June 9, 1946, in Chicago.
She was a resident of Lisle since 1949 and a member of St. Joan of Arc Church in Lisle.
She is survived by a son, Brent D. (wife Cheryl) Owens of Plainfield; a grandson, Hunter Owens; a sister, Virginia Metallo of Lisle; a niece, Sandi Metallo; two nephews, Kurt and Shane Metallo; and two great-nieces, Brittanie and BranDee Metallo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Mary M. (LaBianco) Cosino.

Barbara D. Stamm
Barbara D. Stamm, 82, of Wheaton died Saturday, July 27, 2002, at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield. She was born April 7, 1920, in Chariton, Iowa.
She had worked for a number of years as an interior designer. After retirement she enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a member of PEO and Gamma Phi sorority.
She is survived by her husband, John Stamm; a son, Jim (wife Debbie) Stamm of Naperville; and two grandchildren, Susan and John Stamm of Naperville.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Emma Donald; and three brothers.
A memorial visitation took place Tuesday, July 30, at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville.

Marguerite Springborn
Marguerite (Riedy) Springborn, 86, a lifelong resident of Naperville died Saturday, July 20, 2002, at her home. She was born July 10, 1916, in Naperville.
She attended SS Peter and Paul Grade School in Naperville and Madonna High School in Aurora. She was a graduate of Nazareth Academy in La Grange. She married
Grant Springborn in 1937. She worked for the Ben Franklin five-and-dime store, Joe's City Market, Prince Castle and Bell Laboratories, all in Naperville. She was a lifelong member of SS Peter and Paul Church and was a senior regent in the Women of the Moose. She enjoyed weaving and refinishing furniture. She also enjoyed bingo and playing cards. She served as an election judge in Naperville for more than 52 years.
She is survived by four daughters, Betty Jane (husband Larry) Gascich of Kansas City, Mo., Joan (husband Dwayne) Bemis of Oswego, Sarah Runkle of Aurora and Mary Kay (husband James) Carlson of Marseilles; a son, Jeffrey M. (wife Melissa) Springborn of Aurora; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Elmer (wife Virginia) Riedy of San Diego.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Grant H. Springborn, in 1998; her parents, Julian and Theresa Riedy; and two brothers, Paul and Henry Riedy.
Visitation took place Monday, July 22, at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home in Naperville.
A Mass of Christian burial took place Tuesday, July 23, at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Naperville.
Interment took place at SS Peter and Paul cemetery in Naperville.

Charles Dwyer
Charles Dwyer, 81, a resident of Downers Grove for 25 years, died Monday, July 29, 2002, at home.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945. He was material manager at Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove.
He is survived by six children, Dan (wife Estella) Dwyer of Michigan, Mary (husband Robert) Benway of Downers Grove, Elizabeth (husband Michael) Keley of La Grange, Clare Kajduk of Brookfield, Margaret (husband Edward) Borgh of Downers Grove and Judith (husband James) Gagen of Naperville; 17 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and 12 siblings.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude Dwyer.
Visitation will take place from 3 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, July 31, at Toon Funeral Home, 4920 Main St., Downers Grove.
A service will begin with prayers at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 1, at the funeral home and proceed to a 10 a.m. Mass at St. Joseph's Church, 4824 Highland Ave., Downers Grove.
Interment will take place at Queen of Heaven cemetery in Hillside.

Theresa S. Miller
Theresa S. Miller, 82, of Naperville died Thursday, Aug. 1, 2002, at St. Patrick's Residence in Naperville. She was born March 15, 1920, in Chicago.
She worked in the advertising department at Sears, Roebuck and Co. and retired after 49 years of service. She was an avid gardener and a former member of St. Angela Church in Chicago and St. Dominic Church in Bolingbrook.
She is survived by a sister, Dolores Schuessler of Spring Hill, Fla.; and three nieces, Donna Yule, Michaele Dodrow and Renee Lopardo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Sophie Miller; a brother, Louis Przybyla; and a niece, Pamela Becker.
A Mass of Christian burial will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6, at St. Patrick's Residence, 1400 Brookdale Road, Naperville. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m.
Entombment will take place at Queen of Heaven cemetery in Hillside.

Thomas James Teal, 17-day-old son of Donald and Caitlin Teal of Naperville, died Monday, July 22, 2002, at Edward Hospital in Naperville. He was born July 5, 2002, in Naperville.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his paternal grandfather, Donald (wife Diane) Teal of Naperville; paternal grandmother, Vicki (husband James) Gregory of Naperville; maternal grandparents, Mary (wife Holly) Riordan of Naperville; paternal great-grandmother, Lovelyn Braun of Naperville; paternal great-grandmother, Doris (husband James) Gregory of Florida; paternal great-grandmother, Gretchen Teal Zednik of Plainfield; maternal great-grandmother, Trudie Riordan of Florida; maternal great-grandparents, Larry and Nancy Beck of Michigan;and numerous aunts, uncles, great-aunts, great-uncles and other family and friends.
