Ralph H. Lange
Ralph H. Lange, 93, of Lisle passed away Thursday, Aug. 19, 2004, at Westbury Care Center in Lisle. He was born Oct. 6, 1910, in Thornton, where he was also raised.
He resided for many years in Homewood before he retired to Lake Worth, Fla. He retired in 1974 after 42 years of service with AT&T.
He is survived by his loving son, William (wife Patricia) Lange; his two grandchildren, Scott (wife Stephanie) Lange and Kimberly (husband Nick) Mastro; five great-grandchildren, Dominica, Julia, Ryan, Angela and Jamie; his niece, Pam Erikson; and nephew, John (wife Diane) Lange.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Elizabeth "Lil" Massey; his parents, Edward and Alvina Krueger; and his brothers, Roy (wife Ruby) and Harold (wife Maxine).
Visitation and a service took place Saturday, Aug. 21, at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home in Naperville with the Rev. Timothy Rossow officiating.
Entombment followed at Chapel Hill Gardens West in Oakbrook Terrace.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Margaret E. 'Marge' Purol Clark
Margaret E. "Marge" (Rott) Purol Clark, 86, a lifelong Naperville resident, died Monday, Aug. 16, 2004, at Edward Hospital in Naperville. She was born Nov. 14, 1917, in Lisle.
She was a former employee at the Naperville Pharmacy lunch counter for more than 32 years. She was a member of the Women of the Moose Chapter 706, the Catholic Daughters and SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
She is survived by her husband, Kenneth A. Clark of Naperville; four children, Terry (wife Karen) Clark of Naperville, Diane (husband Robert) Robinson of Naperville, Brian (wife Pat) Clark of Aurora and Cheryl (husband Ray) Turvey of Joliet; nine grandchildren, Cherie, Daniel, Brian, Christine, Ryan, Laurena, Calvin, Trevor and Teal; and a great-grandson, Joshua.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph Purol, and numerous sisters and brothers.
Visitation will take place from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 19, at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 20, at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 36 N. Ellsworth St., Naperville.
Interment will be at SS Peter and Paul cemetery in Naperville.

Lois I. Clark
Lois I. (Peterson) Clark, 74, of Naperville and former resident of Darien, died Thursday, July 10, 2003, at the home of her daughter in Naperville. She was born Nov. 9, 1928, in Chicago.
Mrs. Clark was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Naperville and enjoyed working with ceramics. She volunteered with many organizations when her children were in school.
She is survived by a son, Joseph (wife Susan); and a daughter, Laura (husband Jim) Francisco; eight grandchildren, Mike, Mindy, Megan and Martin Francisco, and Nicole, Stephanie, Deanna and Danielle Clark, all of Naperville; and a sister-in-law, Andree Peterson of Brookfield.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; her parents, Arnold and Elizabeth (Lagerblad) Peterson; and several brothers and sisters.
Visitation will take place from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 13, at Beidelman-Kunsch Funeral Home, 516 S. Washington St., Naperville.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 14, at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, 815 S. Washington St., Naperville.
Interment will be at Queen of Heaven cemetery in Hillside.

Lois Mae Kuehl
Lois Mae (Hayes) Kuehl, 68, of Naperville died Sunday, Aug. 8, 2004, at Edward Hospital in Naperville. She was born July 22, 1936, in Chicago.
She had been an editorial assistant in the health care industry. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Naperville.
She is survived by her children, Charles (wife Karin) Kuehl and Lisa (husband Armando) Romero; six grandchildren, Kelleigh, Hillary, Katelynn and Abigail Kuehl, and Stefanie and Thomas Romero; a sister, Mae Hayes; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; and a son, Thomas.
Visitation will take place from 4 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 11, at Blake-Lamb Funeral Home, Route 53 and Short Street, Lisle.
She will be lying in state from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 12, at Bethany Lutheran Church, 1550 Modaff Road, Naperville.
Interment will follow at Bronswood cemetery in Oak Brook.
Thomas J. Kuehl
Thomas James Kuehl, 41, of Naperville and former resident of Lisle, died Sunday, July 20, 2003, at his home. He was born Jan. 24, 1962, in Berwyn.
He was a supervisor at United Parcel Service and a member of Bethany Lutheran Church of Naperville. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening and family barbecues. He will leave a deep sorrow for family and friends, who will cherish his loving kindness and the care he shared and wish him rest with God.
He is survived by his mother, Lois (Hayes) Kuehl; a brother, Charles (wife Karin) Kuehl; a sister, Lisa (husband Armando) Romero; six nieces and nephews, Kelleigh, Hillary, Katelynn and Abigail Kuehl and Stephanie and Thomas Romero; his best friend, Kevin (wife Tami) Watson; many aunts and uncles; and too many cousins and friends to count.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Kuehl.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 9 p.m. Thursday, July 24, at Blake-Lamb Funeral Home, Route 53 and Short Street, Lisle.
Visitation will take place Friday, July 25, from 9:30 a.m. until funeral services at 10 a.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church, 1550 E. Modaff Road, Naperville.
Internment will be in Bronswood cemetery in Oak Brook.
Douglas P. Schanstra
Douglas Paul Schanstra, 55, passed away Monday, July 7, 2003, after a long battle with cancer, at home in Lake Placid, Fla. He was born Oct. 14, 1947, to Hendrick and Virginia Schanstra in Hazel Park, Mich. His family, friends and business acquaintances up until the end of his life always enjoyed his wonderful sense of humor.
Mr. Schanstra had managed many restaurants in California, Florida and Wisconsin. Up until last year, he was the general manager of Dogwood Design and Landscaping Co. Last year, he started and was part owner of EarthScape Design and Landscaping until his illness prevented him from his daily work, at which time he moved to Lake Placid to be with his family.
He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Virginia and Pat Calihan of Lake Placid; his father, Hendrick Schanstra of Garden City, Mich.; two brothers, Hendrick "Hank" Schanstra of Hermosa Beach, Calif., and Bill (wife Terri) Calihan of New Baltimore, Mich.; a sister, Trish Calihan of New Baltimore; three nieces, Shannon, McKenzie and Caitlin Calihan; two nephews, Billy and Danny Calihan; and many aunts, uncles and cousins, along with many dear friends.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Aug. 23, in New Baltimore, Mich.

Catherine 'Kitty' Ann Savarino
Catherine "Kitty" Ann Savarino, 76, of Wheeling, W.Va., and a former Naperville resident for 25 years, died Saturday, July 26, 2003, in Wheeling Hospital. She was born July 6, 1927, in Wheeling.
While residing in Naperville with her family, she was a member of SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church and a former employee of the Sheraton Hotel in Naperville.
After retirement, with her husband, to Wheeling, she was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and a member of the Italian American Club Auxiliary and the Sisters of St. Joseph Auxiliary.
She is survived by her mother, Rosella Dorsch McCoy; her devoted and loving husband of 54 years, Philip J. Savarino; two sons, Robert P. Savarino and his wife, Connie, of Wheaton, and James E. Savarino of Seattle; two sisters, Mary Lou Oliver and Sally Schmaltz; and two grandchildren, Maggie Dutton and her husband, Loren, and Matthew Savarino, all of Seattle.
She was preceded in death by her father, Calvin Gray, and her stepfather, Dr. Glen McCoy.
A funeral liturgy with Mass was celebrated Tuesday, July 29, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, with the Rev. Larry Dorsch and the Rev. H. Joseph Wilhelm S.M. as concelebrants.
Interment was at Mount Calvary cemetery in Wheeling.

Barbara J. Schlaman
Barbara J. Schlaman, 41, of Naperville died Friday, July 25, 2003, at her home after a long illness. She was born Oct. 19, 1961, in Sidney, Neb., the youngest of a family of eight brothers and sisters.
She graduated as co-valedictorian from Sidney High School in 1980. She received bachelor of science degrees in computer science and electrical engineering from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln in 1984. In 1985, she received a master of science degree in computer science from the University of Colorado inBoulder. She worked for AT&T/Bell Laboratories and Lucent Technologies from 1984 to 2002.
On April 20, 1999, she was granted a U.S. patent for a method for accommodating ported directory numbers affected by call block controls implemented in a telecommunications network.
She was an accomplished musician and enjoyed playing the piano and trumpet. She also loved spending time outdoors with her children, Jamie, 6, Kelley, 4, and Jason, 3.
She is survived by her husband, Alan Edwards; her children; her parents, Oscar and Evelyn Schlaman of Sidney; five siblings, Phil (wife Donna) Schlaman of Lawrence, Kan., Jane (husband Joe) Hennes of Topeka, Kan., John (wife Laurie) Schlaman of Batavia, Kris (husband Les Mardiks) Schlaman of Falls Church, Va., and Mary (husband Dave) Sostarich of Lawrence; three sisters-in-law, Deb Schlaman of Sidney, Kim (husband Brett) McNeill of Kokomo, Ind., and Dale (husband Terry) Meisinger of Bolingbrook; her mother-in-law, Barbara Edwards of Paxton; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Kent Schlaman; and a sister, Nancy Schlaman.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, July 28, at St. Patrick's Residence, 1400 Brookdale Road, Naperville.

Virginia M. Carhart
Virginia M. Carhart, 83, of Naperville died Thursday, March 6, 2003, at Community Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Naperville. She was born May 6, 1919, in Chicago and had been a resident of Naperville since 1988, having moved here from Boca Raton, Fla.
She was vice president of General Carbon Co. in Naperville.
She is survived by a stepson, Donald R. (wife Shirley) Carhart of Naperville; a daughter-in-law, Mary Carhart of Montgomery; five grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard E. Carhart; a son, Robert H. Carhart; her parents, Andrew and Frances (Czarnowski) Szczepanski; and a brother, Edward Steffan.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 19, at Beidelman-Kunsch Funeral Home, 516 S. Washington St. in Naperville. A memorial visitation will take place from 2 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.

Marjorie E. Lewand
Marjorie E. Lewand, 83, a resident of Naperville for 28 years, died Sunday, July 13, 2003, at ManorCare in Naperville. She was born Sept. 16, 1919, in St. Francisville.
She served in the U.S. Army for a four-year term of duty as a World War II nurse. She worked as a nurse in the hospice unit at Hines Veterans Hospital for 20 years and was a member of Grace United Methodist Church of Naperville.
She is survived by a daughter, Suzanne (husband William) Gruber of Naperville; a grandson, Matthew Gruber of Chicago; a sister, Dorothy Hall of Lawrenceville; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Lewand.
Visitation services will be held Saturday, July 26, from 2 to 3 p.m., with a 3 p.m. memorial service, at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville.
Inurnment will be at Fort Logan National cemetery in Denver, Colo.
