Kristen M. Gough
Kristen M. Gough, 21, of Naperville died Friday, July 25, 2003, at Loyola Medical Center in Maywood. She was born Feb. 25, 1982, in Mt. Clemons, Mich.
She grew up in Naperville and attended Prairie Elementary School and Washington Junior High School. She was a 2000 graduate of Naperville North High School where she was an honor roll student, worked in a special education program helping disabled students and was a member of the International Thespian Society. She was accepted into the Gerald Ford Program at Albion College in Albion, Mich., and later transferred to DePaul University in Chicago, where she received the Dean's Award for Scholastic Excellence. As a senior, she was majoring in foreign languages with an emphasis on Japanese and Asian art history. Through DePaul, she studied abroad for eight months at a university in Osaka, Japan.
She was also an active member of St. Margaret Mary Church in Naperville and was employed as a waitress part time with Colonial Restaurant in Naperville. Her interests included art, watercolor painting and foreign languages. She loved children and enjoyed animals. She aspired to teach children and was excited to be starting a new job in August teaching kids Japanese.
She is survived by her parents, Michael R. and Kathleen S. (Gorecki) Gough of Naperville; a sister, Kasey Gough of Naperville; a brother, Dan Gough of Naperville; her maternal grandmother, Angie Gorecki of Sterling Heights, Mich.; aunts and uncles, James Gough of Michigan, Mary Ellen (husband Jim) Mischel of Michigan, Greg Gorecki of Maryland, Jim Gorecki of Michigan and Cheryl Gorecki of Michigan; three cousins, Jennifer, Steven and Michelle Gorecki; and her fiance, Paul A. Simms of Naperville.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, John and Dorothea Gough; her maternal grandfather, Bruno Gorecki; and an uncle, Robert Gorecki.
Visitation will take place from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, July 29, and Wednesday, July 30, at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville.
Services will begin at 9 a.m. Thursday, July 31, from the funeral home and will proceed to a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Margaret Mary Church, 1450 Green Trails Drive, Naperville.
Interment will be private.

Richard L. Rieser
Richard L. Rieser, 73, a lifelong Naperville resident, died Thursday, July 3, 2003, at Edward Hospital in Naperville in the company of his family from the combined effects of multiple causes. He was born June 10, 1930, in Naperville.
He was a product of farm life in the Great Depression that instilled a strong work ethic and a head-on approach to life. He lettered in football for the class of 1948 Naperville Redskins. After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and received a medical discharge. He worked as a concrete finisher and foreman for numerous local contractors and was a member of Cement Masons Union Local 803.
Mr. Rieser enjoyed reading, guns, gardening, traveling, camping and the outdoors. He was a hard-working, hard-playing roughneck with a wry sense of humor who could laugh at himself as well as the world around him. He was a good father who raised his children to be proud, productive citizens. He allowed them to make mistakes, and he taught them to learn from those mistakes. He never pushed them in unwanted directions, and he always supported them in their endeavors. He encouraged them to expect the best from themselves and to tolerate the mistakes of others.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Koth of Naperville; two sons, Steven (wife Cathy) Rieser of Moscow, Idaho, and Mark (wife Kathy) Rieser of Naperville; a daughter, Kim Rieser of Helena, Mont.; a stepson, John Koth of Los Angeles; a stepdaughter, Carolyn (husband Scott) Preston of Oklahoma City; three grandchildren, Walker, Katherine and Taylor Preston; two brothers, Ronald and Robert Rieser, both of Naperville; and two sisters, Shirley Rieser of Naperville and Joanne (husband Alan) Renc of Yorkville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edmund and Anna Rieser; a sister-in-law, Doris Rieser; and a brother, William Rieser.
Services took place Monday, July 7, at Beidelman-Kunsch Funeral Home in Naperville.

Marion L. Uhrich, 90, of Naperville died Tuesday, July 8, 2003, at St. Patrick's Residence in Naperville. She was born April 9, 1913, in Buffalo, N.Y.
She is survived by two children, David L. (wife Delia) Uhrich of Kent, Ohio, and Dianne J. (husband Jay) Pollitt of Naperville; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Catherine Kane; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Godfrey C. "Lee" Uhrich; a great-grandchild, Frances Mignery; her parents, August A. and Catherine C. (Becker) Kaiser; two brothers, August J. (wife Marie) Kaiser and John Kaiser; and a brother-in-law, John Kane.
A Mass of Christian burial will take place at 10 a.m. Monday, July 14, at St. Aloysius Gonzaga Church in Buffalo. Interment will be at the United German and French R.C. cemetery Association in Cheektowaga, N.Y.
Visitation will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, July 13, at Reger Funeral Home, 3135 Main St., Buffalo.

Anna Mae (Harris) Creel, 83, died Sunday, July 13, 2003, in Naperville. She was born April 2, 1920, to John and Mary (Pronik) Harris.
She married
Homer Creel on July 18, 1942. She was a Chicago Public Schools teacher at Bateman Elementary School, retiring in 1992. During her life, she enjoyed time spent with her family and cake decorating.
She is survived by her children, Bonnie (husband Ronald) Zillmann of Naperville, Glenn Creel and Pauline Creel; her grandchildren, R. Chad, Seth, Daniel and Mollianne Zillmann; a sister, Stephanie Eck; brothers George (wife Shirley), William, Edward and Daniel Harris; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a sister, Jenny Harris; and brothers Alexander, Walter and Fredrick Harris.
Visitation will take place from 3 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, July 16, at Skaja Terrace Funeral Home, 7812 N. Milwaukee Ave., Niles.
A service will be held at noon Thursday, July 17, at the funeral home.

Lennie M. (Walker) Rivait
Lennie M. (Walker) Rivait, 79, of Naperville died Sunday, July 27, 2003, at her home after a long battle with cancer. She was born Dec. 8, 1923, in Eaton, N.Y.
She had been a Naperville resident since 1966. She married
her husband, J. John Rivait, on July 5, 1945, in Montpelier, Va., while he was serving as an ensign in the U.S. Navy during World War II. She enjoyed movies, dining out, good conversation and coffee, plus a great game of bridge. She will be missed by her family, many friends at "Old Sawmill" and throughout Naperville, and by her bridge partners.
She is survived by a daughter, Patricia (husband Michael Hellyer) Rivait of Aurora; a son, David Rivait of Alexandria, Va.; and a brother, Charles Walker of Danville, Va.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Maurice and Ellen (Haines) Walker; her husband in 1977; three sisters, Adah Stratton, Gertrude King and Florence Walker in infancy; and a brother, Hartwell "Bud" Walker.

John E. "Bud" Widder
John E. "Bud" Widder, 85, of Naperville died Saturday, July 26, 2003, at Edward Hospital in Naperville. He was born Nov. 18, 1917, in Naperville.
He was a lifelong resident of Naperville and was associated with Widder Decorating of Naperville for many years. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He was a member of the American Post, the Naperville Moose Lodge and the Tiger Club of Aurora. He was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church.
He is survived by his wife, Ethel H. (McLucas) Widder; a daughter, Carole Nieminski of Naperville; a son, John (Terri) Widder of Carol Stream; four grandchildren, Richard (Colleen) Nieminski, Michael Nieminski, John J. Widder and Rebecca Cooper; several great-grandchildren; a brother, Donald (Sonnie) Widder of Naperville; and a sister-in-law, Florence Widder of Naperville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John W. and Grace (Stoner) Widder; a sister, Marlene Branding; and three nieces, Sheri and Nancy Widder and D.D. Branding.

Adelle Ragan
Adelle (Marozas) Ragan, 85, of Thomasville, N.C., and a former resident of Naperville, died Sunday, April 6, 2003, at Community General Hospital in High Point, N.C. She was born Oct. 2, 1917, in Chicago.
She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. On Aug. 29, 1937, she married
Dr. Edward H. Ragan.
She is survived by a daughter, Penny Sullivan (husband Tim Plumb) of San Luis Obispo, Calif.; three sons, James W. (wife Susan) Ragan of Thomasville, Richard (wife Beth) Ragan of Racine, Wis., and John (wife Jan) Ragan of Eden Prairie, Minn.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband in August 2002, and her parents, Joseph and Domicele (Sakurskis) Marozas.
A memorial service will take place at 3 p.m. Friday, April 11, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in High Point.
Inurnment will be at Oakwood Memorial Park Mausoleum in High Point.

Walter J. Watson
Walter John Watson, 56, of Plainfield and a former resident of Naperville for 17 1/2 years, died Sunday, March 23, 2003, at Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora. He was born Sept. 4, 1946, in Niagara Falls, N.Y.
He grew up in Niagara Falls and attended schools there. He was employed by Waste Management for 21 years. He was the owner of Insty-Prints of Naperville and enjoyed Lionel trains, remote-control airplanes, sailing, classical music and spending quality time with family, friends and his four-legged companion, Shelby.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Terry (Richardson) of Plainfield; three sons, Derek (wife Carrie) Watson of Algonquin, Adam Watson of South Elgin and Chad Watson of Plainfield; his mother, Amy Watson of Niagara Falls; and three sisters, Shirley (husband Jimmy) Castellani of Niagara Falls, Jean (husband Bruce) Potter of Wheatfield, N.Y., and Mary Enzinna, also of Wheatfield.
He was preceded in death by his father, George Watson; and his grandparents, Walter and Nora Dancer.
A memorial visitation will take place from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, March 30, at the Overman-Jones Funeral Home, 309 Joliet Road, routes 30 and 59, Plainfield.

Gertrude A. 'Gertie' Pickens
Gertrude A. "Gertie" (Loechel) Pickens, 87, a resident of Downers Grove from 1955 to 2003, died Wednesday, March 26, 2003, at Community Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Naperville. She was born May 1, 1915, in Chicago.
She grew up in Elmhurst and was a graduate of York High School. She married
her husband, John, in 1934, and they lived in Chicago, Oak Park and Downers Grove. She worked as a secret shopper for Jewel Foods from 1965 to 1980. She was an avid reader of mystery books and enjoyed baking cakes.
She is survived by a daughter, Patricia (husband Jeffrey L. Sherer) Pickens of Naperville; and a son, John J. Pickens-Green of Warrenville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John H. Pickens; her parents, Jacob and Gertrude Loechel; and five siblings, Meyda, Arthur, Charlotte, Walter and Delores.
A memorial service will take place at 6 p.m. Monday, March 31, at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville. Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. Interment will be private.
Lloyd G. Farrell
Lloyd G. Farrell, 83, of Maquoketa, Iowa, died Friday, March 28, 2003, at Jackson County Public Hospital in Maquoketa.
He was born Sept. 17, 1919, in Ellston, Iowa.
He was a graduate of Dike High School and attended one term of college. He was a World War II veteran of the Army and was honorably discharged Sept. 1, 1945. He married
Marie A. Howard on June 6, 1947, in Iowa City, Iowa. He worked first at John Deere Works in Waterloo, Iowa, then for various automotive dealers, and retired from the Montgomery Ward automotive department, Cedar Falls branch, in 1983. The couple moved to Maquoketa eight years ago to be closer to family. He was a family-oriented man and loved doing carpentry work, making all kinds of things, and enjoyed leather work.
He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Sandra J. (husband Scott) Wille of Naperville; and two grandchildren, Sarah J. Wille of Bloomington, Ind., and Elizabeth A. Wille of Chicago.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd G. and Vera M. (Ray) Farrell; and a brother, Victor.
A graveside service and burial took place Monday, March 31, at Mount Hope cemetery, Maquoketa. The Rev. Clair Odell of First United Methodist Church in Maquoketa officiated.
Visitation also took place Monday at Carson and Son Funeral and Cremation Services, Maquoketa.
