Mildred "Millie" Weissenborn
Mildred "Millie" Weissenborn, 82, a longtime resident of Naperville, passed away peacefully Monday, Nov. 17, 2003, in her Mill Street condominium surrounded by her family and friends.
Born Oct. 4, 1921, in Evanston to John and Ida Kluesing, she grew up in Niles. In 1940, she married
William "Bill" Weissenborn and moved to Naperville. She followed Bill to California and worked as a secretary for the government while he served overseas in the Navy.
After the war, they lived in Aurora, where she worked at Thor Power Tool, Durabelt and Warrenville Window and Door and raised their two children. In 1964, they returned to Naperville and lived on Bauer Road. She retired from Miles Lab in 1986 and moved to Mill Orchard Condominiums.
Two talents dominated her life: her ability to bring people together in harmony and her ability to view pain and adversity as minor inconveniences. She led by example. Millie used her positive outlook and gregarious manner to organize social events for her condominium complex and for the "Rusty Hinges" water aerobics class at Edward Fitness Center. Volunteering at Edward Hospital gave her the opportunity to add a sunnier side to patients' outlooks on life. At Edward Hospital, she brought videos and encouraging words to lift their spirits. She met everyone with an engaging smile and a zest for living. She showed us how to lead a joyous life using the talents God gave us.
Survivors include her daughter, Pam (husband John) Narney; her son, Bill (wife Donna) Weissenborn; two grandchildren, John Narney and Aaron Weissenborn; and five great-grandchildren.
