KEWANEE - Patricia “Pat” A. Hood, 58, of Kewanee, passed away at 7:41 PM, Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at Kewanee Hospital.
Private services will be held.
Memorials may be directed to the family for a memorial to be established.

Donovan James VanDusen
(September 28, 1985 - September 4, 2012)
KEWANEE - Donovan J. VanDusen, 26, of Kewanee, passed away at 12:20 PM, Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at his home.
Funeral service will be at 1:00 PM, Friday, September 7 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee.
Pastor Lawrence Anderson will officiate.
Visitation will be on Thursday, September 6 from 6:00-8:00 PM at the funeral home.
Cremation will be accorded following the service with inurnment at Pleasant View Cemetery at a later date.
Memorials may be directed to the Donovan VanDusen Memorial Fund.
He was born on September 28, 1985 in Kewanee, the son of Dale G. and Cathy (Swearingen) VanDusen.
He is survived by his mother, Cathy Davis of Rockford, IL, his grandmother, Gladys Swearingen of Kewanee, three brothers, Dale (Helen) VanDusen of Kewanee, Tommy (Laura) VanDusen of St. Charles, MO, and Timmy Davis of Rockford, IL, a nephew, Dale Guy VanDusen and his girlfriend, Ashley Carlson.
He was preceded in death by his father and a son, Micah Aubrey VanDusen in infancy.
Donovan was a 2005 graduate of Kewanee High School and had attended Black Hawk East.
He had worked at Great Dane.
He was a member of the 2nd Baptist Church in Kewanee.
He enjoyed music and was just starting to learn to play the guitar.
He also loved his dog, Chucky.
Kenneth James "Ken" Girkin
January 14, 1963 - September 21, 2014
KEWANEE - Kenneth James “Ken” Girkin, 51, of Kewanee, died at 1:57 PM, Sunday, September 21, 2014 at his home.
Cremation has been accorded and a memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, September 26 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee, where military rites will be accorded by the Kewanee Veterans Council.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.
Inurnment will be in the Rock Island National Cemetery.
Memorials may be directed to his children, Trevor and Caitlynn.
He was born January 14, 1963 in Kewanee, the son of James H. and Sharon (Skutnick) Girkin.
He had been married to Catherine Ripka.
Survivors include a son, Trevor Girkin of Elgin, IL, a daughter, Caitlynn Girkin of Kewanee, and three sisters, Susan (Lonnie) Miller of Cutler, IL, Karen Girkin of Pinckneyville, IL, and Donna (Morris) Miller of Willisville, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother in infancy.
Ken graduated from Kewanee High School in 1981.
He served his country in the Galva National Guard Unit for 20 years obtaining the rank of Sargent, retiring in March of 2007.
With that unit, he served 18 months in Iraq, during the Iraqi Freedom Campaign.
He worked as a mechanic for Tharp’s Kar Kare.
In his early years, he attended the First Christian Church and then later, St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.
He enjoyed his mechanic work and riding his motorcycle.
Helen B. Crabtree
October 24, 1925 - September 14, 2014
KEWANEE - Helen B. Crabtree, 88, of Kewanee, passed away at 9:07 AM, Sunday, September 14, 2014 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Cremation has been accorded and a graveside memorial service for family and friends will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, October 11 at Galva Cemetery.
Memorials may be directed to the First Baptist Church in Kewanee.

She was born October 24, 1925 in Kewanee, the daughter of Joseph L. and Sadie M. (King) Polansky.
She married Hayden B. Crabtree on September 18, 1948 in Kewanee, and he preceded her in death on July 14, 1993.
Survivors include three sons, Denny (Pat) Crabtree of Destin, FL, Layne (Sue) Crabtree of Bahama, NC, and Jason (Leanne) Crabtree of Kewanee, ten grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Louie Polansky and two sisters, Dorothy Stone and Irene Aery.
Helen had worked in the cafeteria at Wethersfield School for 9 years, retiring in 1988.
She had a passion for bingo and thoroughly loved her family and the time spent with them.
Janet L. Leverette
May 2, 1956 - September 25, 2014
GALVA - Janet L. Leverette, 58, of Galva, died at 1:00 AM, Thursday, September 25, 2014 at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, September 29 at Rux Funeral Home in Galva.
Visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00 PM, Sunday, September 28 at the funeral home.
Cremation will be accorded following the services and inurnment will be in Galva Cemetery at a later date.
Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
She was born May 2, 1956 in Kewanee, the daughter of Richard and Darlene (Peterson) Kermeen.
She married David “Dave” Leverette on August 17, 1974 in Shelbyville, TN.
He survives, as do her children, Chad Leverette of Bybee, TN, Joseph Leverette of Kewanee, Jennifer (Jim) Hart of Minot, ND, Nick Leverette of Kewanee, and Christopher Leverette of Galva, a sister, Debra (Ted) Petty of Galva, and eleven grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Sharon and two brothers, Randy and Russell.
Janet graduated from Galva High School in 1974.
She was a homemaker and had been affiliated with Grace United Methodist Church in Galva.
She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Peter "Pete" C. Stodgel, Sr.
March 15, 1944 - July 24, 2012
WILLIAMSFIELD - Peter “Pete” C. Stodgel, Sr., 68, of Williamsfield, died at 10:35 AM, Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at his home.
Cremation has been accorded and a memorial graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, July 28 at Williamsfield Cemetery, where military rites will be accorded by the Williamsfield American Legion.
Pastor Jennifer Seder will officiate.
Memorials may be directed to the Peter Stodgel Memorial Fund.

He was born March 15, 1944 in Williamsfield, the son of Jackson F. and Mae Lorene (Williams) Stodgel.
He had married Frances Stevens.
Survivors include a son, Peter (Tina) Stodgel, Jr. of Mendon, IL, a daughter, Sharon (Shawn) Tallcott of Loraine, IL, two brothers, Jack (Lois) Stodgel, Jr. and Don (Donna) Stodgel, both of Galesburg, six grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren, with one on the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Maedean Barrett.
Pete served his country in the Air Force in the early 1960's.
He had worked as a bulldozer operator for Midland coal Company and had also been a Park Ranger for Jubilee College State Park.
