Cody W. Jannie

KEWANEE - Cody W. Jannie, 22, of Kewanee, died at 5:15 PM Thursday, July 26, 2012 in the emergency room at Kewanee Hospital from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, August 1 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee.
Pastor Dan Craig will officiate.
Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 PM, Tuesday, July 31 at the funeral home.
Burial will be in West Neponset Cemetery.
Memorials may be directed to the Cody Jannie Memorial Fund.
Cody was an organ donor.
After the graveside services, there will be a gathering of family and friends at JT’s.
He was born January 28, 1990 in Princeton, IL, the son of William S. “Tick” and Yvonne L. (Costin) Jannie.
He is survived by his mother, Yvonne (Michael) Atkinson of Kewanee, a brother, Dillon Jannie of Kewanee, a sister, Jessica Gaught of Neponset, and a brother, Joshua Lindstrom of Kewanee, his maternal grandparents, John and Elizabeth Costin of Toulon, and Grandma Mary Jannie of LaSalle, IL, and many loving nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father and his grandparents.
Cody graduated from Kewanee High School.
He had worked as a bartender at JT’s.
He had also worked at Misty’s, Taco Bell and the Leather Factory.
He enjoyed playing the drums, pool, darts, video games and special vacations with his grandparents.
He enjoyed his pit bull dogs, Marley and Roman, and he especially enjoyed his family and friends and mentoring his younger brother, Dillon.
Alice Mae Neirynck
June 18, 1940 - October 6, 2014
KEWANEE - Alice Mae Neirynck, 74, of Kewanee, passed away at 9:10 PM, Monday, October 6, 2014 at her home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM, Monday, October 13 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Galva.
Celebrant will be Rev. John Burns.
Visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00 PM, Sunday, October 12 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee, with a rosary being recited at 1:30 PM.
Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Memorials may be directed to the Windmont Park Lighting Fund.
She was born June 18, 1940 in Kewanee, the daughter of Alonzo and Myrtle (Boham-Miller) Jenkin.
She married Robert Charles “Bobby” Neirynck on September 6, 1958 in Kewanee.
He survives, as do a daughter, Mary (Steve) Menard of Cambridge, two sons, Terry Neirynck of Kewanee, and Larry (Pam) Neirynck of Rock Island, her sister, Virginia (William) Doye of Kewanee, two cousins, Mabel Harper of Galesburg, and Danny Boham of Virginia, nine grandchildren, Lisa Fornander, Alicia Ralston, Emily Neirynck, Robbie Neirynck, Carl Fornander, Katie Menard, Chelsea Neirynck, Eric Neirynck and Eve Neirynck and four great-grandchildren, Owen Ceja, Aiden Street, Olivia Ralston and Madison Ralston.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, Berniece Jenkin Lynd and Sam, Cecil, William and John Jenkin and Charles, Leroy, Wilbur, Ruby and Bobby Miller.
Alice attended Knox School and then graduated from Wethersfield High School in 1958, where she played the French horn and was a cheerleader.
She worked as a Dental Assistant for Dr. Frymeyer in Galva, and had worked at Abilities Plus for 14 years as their Job Placement Coordinator and had also assisted with the Special Olympics.
Alice was a member of Visitation Catholic Church, then St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and its Altar and Rosary Society and most recently St. John’s Catholic Church in Galva.
She was co-founder of the Henry County Genealogy Society, where she had served in all offices.
She thoroughly enjoyed genealogy and had done extensive research, traveling to several states and England.
She also enjoyed camping, sewing, knitting, crocheting, upholstery work, assisting with the yearly Windmont Park Christmas lighting and visiting her favorite place, Mineral Point, WI.
Mark J. VanDeVelde
December 15, 1955 - August 17, 2014
GALVA - Mark J. VanDeVelde, 58, of Galva, died at 11:50 AM, Sunday, August 17, 2014 at his home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM, Friday, August 22 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Galva.
Celebrant will be Rev. John Burns.
Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 PM, Thursday, August 21 at Rux Funeral Home in Galva, with a rosary being recited at 3:30 PM.
Burial will be in Galva Cemetery.
Memorials may be directed to the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center in Iowa City.
He was born December 15, 1955 in Kewanee, the son of Roy W. and Florence M. (Lonka) VanDeVelde.
Survivors include his daughter, Markie Jo VanDeVelde of Galva, two brothers, Peter (Linda) VanDeVelde and John (Sue) VanDeVelde, both of Galva, a sister, Jane (Kenneth) Yelm of Liberty Twp., OH, a brother-in-law, Dan Peterson of Mt. Carroll, IL, ten nieces and nephews, seven great-nieces and nephews and his special friend, Rita Burrows of Galva.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Ann.
Mark graduated from Galva High School in 1974.
He was employed as an Agronomist at River Valley Cooperative in Galva.
He was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church, where he served as Eucharistic Minister and Lector and had attended several Cursillo’s.
He was also a member of the Galva Lions Club, Lake Calhoun, and a member and supporter of the Galva Athletic Boosters, where he was a primary cooker for their events for many years.
He enjoyed golfing and recently biking.
Maxine Rose Adkins
November 10, 1938 - August 24, 2014
KEWANEE - Maxine Rose Adkins, 75, of Kewanee, died at 10:03 AM, Sunday, August 24, 2014 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident near West Jersey.
Cremation has been accorded and a memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, August 29 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee.
Deacon Martin VanMeltebeck will officiate.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.
Inurnment will be held at a later date.
Memorials may be directed to the Kewanee Food Pantry.
She was born November 10, 1938 in Geneseo, the daughter of John and Esther (Causemaker) Kleckner.
She married Vernon R. Adkins on October 3, 1959 in Annawan.
He survives, as do two daughters, Debbie (Barry) Nelson of Roscoe, IL, and Kathy Adkins of Kansas City, MO, a brother, Robert Kleckner of San Antonio, TX, and two grandchildren, David and Kelly Nelson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Duane, John and Don and her sister, Carol Young.
Maxine graduated from Annawan High School in 1956 and from St. Francis College of Nursing in Kewanee.
She worked in nursing for 50 years and at Kewanee Hospital for 35 of those years.
She was a member of Visitation Church, St. John Paul, II Parish in Kewanee.
She enjoyed watching Chicago Cubs games.
Brian L. Murphy
December 24, 1980 - July 29, 2012
GALVA - Brian L. Murphy, 31, of Galva, died at 12:30 AM, Sunday, July 29, 2012 at CGH Medical Center in Sterling, IL, from injuries sustained in a car-pedestrian accident that occurred earlier in rural Lyndon.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, August 3 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee.
Virginia Nelson will officiate.
Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 PM, Thursday, August 2 at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery.
Memorials may be directed to an educational fund for his children c/o Community State Bank.
He was born December 24, 1980 in Kewanee, the son of Les and Ethel (Jackson) Murphy.
He married Sheena S. Pyell on May 12, 2001 in Kewanee.
She survives of Galva, as do his parents of Kewanee, a son, Braden Murphy of Galva, a daughter, Madison Murphy of Galva, two brothers, Chris (Natasha) Murphy of Germany and Dustin Murphy of Kewanee, two sisters, Amanda (Rick) Feltner and Samantha Murphy, both of Kewanee, father-in-law, Dan Pyell of Galva, mother-in-law, Tina (Tim) Lucas of Toulon, grandmother, Barbara Jackson Clayes and several nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Michele and grandparents, LaVerne (Donna R.) Murphy and Franklin Jackson.
Brian graduated from Kewanee High School in 1999 and was currently a student at Black Hawk East.
He worked as a warehouse loader at the Wal-mart Distribution Center in Spring Valley, IL.
He was also a partner in 360 E. Cycle.
He enjoyed bowling and darts and had been a member of leagues.
He also enjoyed disc golf and was a member of Hog City Flyers Disc Golf Club.
He was an avid Chicago Cubs and Buffalo Bills fan.
He had coached his daughters softball and soccer teams.
