Elizabeth R. Hansen
November 25, 1923 - August 30, 2012

KEWANEE - Elizabeth R. Hansen, 88, of Oklahoma City, OK, formerly of Kewanee, died at 2:00 PM, Thursday, August 30, 2012 at Meadowlake Estates in Oklahoma City.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, September 6, at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee.
Deacon Martin VanMeltebeck will officiate.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home with a Ladies Auxiliary VFW service at 10:45 AM.
Burial will be in Evergreen Memory Gardens in rural Kewanee.
Memorials may be directed to the American Red Cross.
She was born November 25, 1923 in Pocatello, ID, the daughter of Frank and Mary (Castellino) Busco.
She first married Harold Monning.
She later married James L. Hansen on November 18, 1977 and he preceded her in death on May 22, 1992.
Survivors include two daughters, Lucille Bachelor of Oklahoma City, OK, and Robin Lavaux and her special friend, Don Hosler of Kewanee, a special daughter who she helped raise, Patty Frantzen, one grandchild, Bryan (Casey) Porras, two great-grandchildren, Brendan and Kain.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and three sisters.
Elizabeth had worked as an assembler at a airplane plant in Seattle, Washington.
She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW.

Sue (Garrison) Clarke
June 24, 1945 - September 2, 2012

GALVA – Sue (Garrison) Clarke, 67, of Galva, passed away at 5:50 PM, Sunday, September 2, 2012 at her home.
Cremation has been accorded and a memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, September 6 at Rux Funeral Home in Galva.
Pastor Bob Curry will officiate.
Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM, Wednesday, September 5 at the funeral home.
Inurnment will be in Galva Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the National M.S. Society or to a church of the donor’s choice.
She was born June 24, 1945 in Kewanee, the daughter of Carlos “Bert” B. and Helen M. (Cowley) Garrison.
She married Don Clarke on December 15, 1984 in Galva.
He survives, as do her daughter, Mandy (Benson) Cooley and her husband, Phil of Westfield, IN, two grandchildren, Kade and Kooper Cooley, an aunt, Mary Fargher of Galva, and nieces, nephew and cousins.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Pat Nelson.
Sue graduated from Galva High School in 1963.
She had done clerical work at Dr. Ahearn and Jeffries office, Gustafson Ford, Pearson’s and the Galva Public Library.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Galva.
She enjoyed gardening.

Susan Raley Swineheart
October 13, 1952 - September 1, 2012

SHELBYVILLE, TN - Susan Raley Swineheart, 59, of Shelbyville, TN, formerly of Galva, died Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012 at Heritage Medical Center in Shelbyville, TN.
A native of Galva, Susan was the daughter of the late Frances Averitt and Charlotte (Berg) Raley.
She worked for many years as a Line Leader for Tyson Foods.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Guy Thomas Swineheart, who died in 2008.
Survivors include a son, Jason (Selena) Swineheart of Fayetteville, TN; a daughter, Amber Sue Vailes of Shelbyville, TN; three brothers, Jan Averitt Raley of Kewanee, Francis Eugene Raley of Kewanee, and Michael Lynn Raley of Galva; three grandchildren, Chloe, Elijah and Daysen Vailes and three step-grandchildren, Waylon, Kenny and Lindsey Lynch.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, September 7 at Galva Cemetery.
Rux Funeral Home in Galva, is in charge of local arrangements.

Peter "Pete" F. Rebout, Jr.
(October 29, 1935 - October 9, 2012)

KEWANEE - Peter F. “Pete” Rebout, Jr., 76, of Kewanee, died at 7:03 PM Tuesday, October 9, 2012 in the emergency room at Kewanee Hospital.
Cremation has been accorded and a memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, October 12 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee.
Deacon Martin VanMeltebeck will officiate.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
Private inurnment will take place with his family at a later date.
Memorials may be directed to the VFW or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
He was born October 29, 1935 in Janesville, WI, the son of Peter F. and JoAnne (Thill) Rebout, Sr.
He married Shirley Temple on May 12, 1956 in Geneseo.
She preceded him in death, as well as his parents and a daughter, Marlene.
He is survived by two sons, Arnold and Chuck Rebout, both of Kewanee, three daughters, Bonnie Castro of Wisconsin, Annette (Harold) Darcangelo of Gilbert, AZ, Stacy (Michael) Jacobson of Johnstown, OH, eight grandchildren, Aaron, Dustin, Steven, Brandon, Christopher, Michael, Amber and Madelyn and three sisters, Carol Jean (Donald) Strandberg of Toulon, Mary (Michael) Wojcinski of Rock Island, and Theresa (Brent) Sparlin of Chicago.
Pete had worked as an engineer and as a forklift operator at Hyster, Compaction America and BOMAG for a number of years.
He was of the Catholic faith.
He enjoyed woodworking and metalworking.

Arthur O. "Art" Apfel
(March 20, 1924 - August 31, 2014)

GALVA - Arthur O. “Art” Apfel, 90, of Galva, died at 9:28 AM, Sunday, August 31, 2014 at OSF St. Luke Medical Center in Kewanee.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, September 5 at Messiah Lutheran Church in Galva.
Rev. Linda Winkelman will officiate.
Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM, Thursday, September 4 at Rux Funeral Home in Galva.
Burial will be at the Galva Cemetery, where military rites will be accorded by the Galva Fusiliers.
Memorials may be directed to the Messiah Lutheran Church or the Galva Park District.
He was born March 20, 1924 in Pekin, IL, the son of Henry and Gertrude (Kief) Apfel.
He married Rosemary R. Rahn on June 14, 1947 in Pekin, and she preceded him in death on December 3, 2000.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, a sister and his son-in-law, Dennis Goetz.
He is survived by a daughter, Laura Goetz of Geneseo, IL, a son, Fritz (Linda) Apfel of Fayetteville, GA, six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren and a special friend, Marcia Elliott.
Art graduated from Pekin High School in 1942.
He then served with the Army Air Corp, where he flew P47's.
He had worked as an adjuster for Pekin Farmers Insurance and then in 1953, moved to Galva, where he operated S&S; Ford Dealership until 1997.
After selling that business, he got his broker’s license and operated Colony Realty until he was 86.
He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church and the former Midland Country Club.
He was also a member of the Elks Lodge in Pekin, a 70-year member of the Galva American Legion and was a 50-year member of the Galva Fire Department.
Art enjoyed golfing and flying and had traveled to all 50 states.
He was also part of a group of local businessmen that helped form Galva’s Industrial Plaza.
He was also a founding member and park board president of the Galva Park District.

Cheryl A. Crossan
(February 7, 1948 - September 7, 2014)

TOULON - Cheryl A. Crossan, 66, of Toulon, formerly of Galva, died at 11:00 PM, Sunday, September 7, 2014 at Toulon Health Care Center.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, September 13 at Rux Funeral Home in Galva.
Rev. David Schweppe will officiate.
Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM, Friday, September 12 at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Galva Cemetery.
Memorials may be directed to American Diabetes Association or to the family for a memorial to be established.
She was born February 7, 1948 in Fairmont, MN, the daughter of Alvin and Amanda (Hagen) Swift.
She married Christopher Crossan on November 4, 1978 in Galva.
He survives of Geneseo, as do her son, Jon Jones of Kenosha, WI, a daughter, Jacki Wyman of Kewanee, step-daughter, Angela Willenbrink of Virginia Beach, VA, a brother, David (Mary Jane) Swift of California, MD, two sisters, her twin, Carole (Warren) Schultze of Northrop, MN, and Joyce Barber of Kenosha, WI, sister-in-law, Mary Ann Harder of Fairmont, MN, a brother-in-law, Leonard Neuenfeldt of Mankato, MN, and four grandchildren, Gregory and Sarah Wyman and Madison and Andrew Willenbrink.
She was preceded in death by her parent, two brothers and a sister.
Cheryl graduated from Fairmont High School.
She had worked as a cook at Woodhull Plaza, AJ’s and McKay’s.
She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Galva and had attended Zion Lutheran Church in Kewanee.
She enjoyed cooking, baking and attending her grandchildren’s softball games and spending time with them.
