William A. Waldinger

BRADFORD - William A. Waldinger, 51, of Bradford, died at 8:15 p.m. Monday, Feb. 26, 2001, at Oakwood Health Care Center, Kewanee.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 3, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Bradford, the Rev. John Thieryoung officiating.
Visitation is from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Friday at Grant-Johnson Funeral Home, Bradford, with a rosary at 8 p.m.
Burial will be in St. John's Catholic Cemetery, Bradford.
Memorials may be made to the St. John's building fund or the Bradford Rescue Squad.
He was born Sept. 16, 1949, in Kewanee, the son of Franz and Emilie (Lang) Waldinger.
Surviving are a son, Lance Waldinger of Portland, Ore.; a daughter, Samantha Waldinger of Bradford; a grandchild; four brothers, Francis (Alice) Waldinger of Buda, Henry (Paulette) Waldinger of Bradford, Clarence (Kathy) Waldinger of Sciota, and Tom Waldinger of Baltimore; and three sisters, Mrs. Phil (Liz) Code of Bradford, and Mrs. Ted (Ginny) Gilles and Mrs. Don (Ruth) Stahl, both of Princeville.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.
He was a volunteer firefighter for the Bradford Fire Department for the past 23 years.
He worked as a parts man for Arends, Inc. in Bradford, and Kewanee, and for Goodrich-John Deere when the management changed.
He also was a custodian at Bradford High School.
He coached the Babe Ruth baseball team in Bradford.
He was an avid Bears and Cubs fan.

Marvin A. Damron

KEWANEE - Marvin A. Damron, 64, of Kewanee, died at 6:36 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2000, in the emergency room at Kewanee Hospital.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 13, at First United Methodist Church, Kewanee, the Rev. Robert Foulk officiating.
Visitation is from 4 to 9 this evening at the church.
Burial will be in Hamilton, Ill., Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, of which he was a member; the American Cancer Society; the American Heart Association; the Leukemia Society of America, Illinois Chapter; or Kewanee High School.
Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home, Kewanee, is in charge of arrangements.
He was born Sept. 14, 1936, in Keokuk, Iowa, the son of Arthur and Elizabeth (Edwards) Damron.
He married Patricia Ann Rickert, July 28, 1957.
She survives, as do four sons, Dr. Timothy A. (Leatha) Damron of Syracuse, N.Y., Michael M. (Sharon) Damron of El Paso, Texas, Patrick A. (Leisa) Damron of Kewanee, and Cuong (Shelly) Quach of Houston, Texas; two daughters, Mrs. Mike (Deborah A.) Townsend of Kewanee, and Mrs. Cuong (Lan) Tu of Houston; a sister, Mrs. Udell (Janet) Meyers of Quantico, Va.; and 13 grandchildren, Neil K. Damron, Terry Failor, Joseph Failor, Maria Chavez, Haile E. Townsend, Melanie M. Townsend, Ryan L. Rumbold, Rachel J. Rumbold, Madelyn I. Damron, Benjamin Tu, Franklin Tu. Catherine Quach and Calvin Quach.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandchild, Casie Failor.
He was educated in Hamilton, Ill., and was a graduate of Hamilton High School.
He was a member of the Illinois National Guard, serving in Frankfurt, Germany, in 1961.
He was a 1958 graduate of the University of Illinois, where he also received his Master's Degree in 1963.
He received his administrative certificate at the University of Colorado in 1966.
He was agriculture teacher in Hamilton, from 1958 to 1961, then was agriculture instructor at Kewanee High School in 1962-1967, serving as 4-H leader and adviser to FFA and Student Council.
In 1967, the Kewanee School Board appointed him Kewanee High School principal and the school district's director of transportation.
His memberships included the Kewanee Kiwanis Club, of which he was past president, treasurer and vice president and a Hixson Award recipient; the Illinois Principals Association; the Illinois Association of Secondary School Principals, of which he had been a state officer; the National Association of Secondary School Principals; the Illinois Vocational Teachers, for which he was a section chairman; Future Farmers of America; Henry County Youth Service Bureau, where he was a member of the board of directors; the Drug and Alcohol Task Force; Sauk Trail Organization for Preservation; the Area Board for Child Development; Ryan's Round Barn Life Member; ILCAAP; Gamma Sigma Delta Honor Society of Agriculture; National Alpha Zeta Fraternity of Agriculture; Alpha Tau Alpha Education Fraternity; Alpha Gamma Rho Agriculture Fraternity; and the University of Illinois Alumni Association.
He was a certified lay speaker at his church, and his hobbies included the John Deere Two Cylinder Club, the Lionel Train Collectors Club of America, the Mackinaw Canoe Club and the Train Collectors Association.

H. Daisy Hay

MORTON - H. Daisy Hay, 85, formerly of Kewanee, died at 9:45 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2000, at Morton Terrace.
Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home, Kewanee, with visitation one hour before the service.
The Rev. Robert Foulk will officiate.
Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church or to a charity of the donor's choice.
She was born Dec. 22, 1914, in Radcliff, Alberta, Canada, the daughter of Ada and Thomas Dumas.
She married Giles Hay Sept. 21, 1933.
He passed away July 7, 1979.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, a brother and a sister.
Survivors include a daughter, Janet (George) Iler, Gurnee, Ill.; a son, Thomas (Jean) Hay, East Peoria; a sister, Sylvia (Clem) Matula, Des Plaines, Ill.; three grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Hay worked at the Boss office and Buntin Jewelers in Kewanee.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Kewanee Convalescent Center Auxiliary, Senior Citizens and Flemish American Club, all in Kewanee.

Elena Miron

KEWANEE -- Elena Miron, 86, mother of Dr. Danica Luchici of Kewanee, died Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2002 in Kewanee.
Funeral services were held today at Holy Nativity Church in Chicago.
Burial will be at the Romanian Orthodox Episcopate Monastery in Grass Lakes, Mich.
Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee, is in charge of arrangements.
She was born May 15, 1916 in Holland, Mich., the daughter of Paja and Danica.
She is survived by her daughter, Dr. Danca Luchici and other family members in Kewanee, Chicago, Arizona, Romania and Yugoslavia.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Milica; and her husband, George.
She was a nurse and her career extended from World War II in the Romanian Army until 1982 in Chicago.

Leitha M. Blevins

TOULON -- Leitha M. Blevins, 102, formerly of Toulon, died 4:25 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30, 2002, at Rosewood Care Center, Peoria, where she was a resident.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, at DeBolt-Kidd Funeral Home, Toulon.
The Rev. Wayne McLeod will officiate.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services Saturday, at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Toulon Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to First Congregational Church of Toulon, of which she was a member; or a charity of the donor's choice.
Born Aug.12, 1900, in Dunlap, the daughter of George and Bertha (McKee) Wilson, she married Burl Blevins, Sept. 3, 1921, in Peoria.
He died Jan. 13, 1983.
Surviving are a son, Ronald (Phyllis) Blevins of Boca Raton, Fla.; four grandchildren, Bonnie Hogan of Palatine, Brenda Oliver of Beulah, Colo., Jeffrey Blevins of Rockford, and John Blevins of Austin, Texas; and seven great-grandchildren.
One son, George Blevins, and one sister also preceded her in death.
She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star, Wyoming Chapter.

Lew A. Wright

GENESEO -- Lew A. Wright, 48, of rural Geneseo, died Sunday, Aug. 4, 2002 at Hammond-Henry Hospital, Geneseo.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 8 at Wright Chapel, Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services, Geneseo.
The Rev. Dr. Roger Perry will officiate.
Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo.
Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Wright Chapel.
Memorials may be made to the Liver Research Fund at the University of Iowa Foundation, P.O. Box 4550, Iowa City, Iowa 52244-4550.
He was born September 21, 1953 in Geneseo, the son of John and Gloria (Fortune) Wright.
Surviving are his mother and stepfather, Gloria and Charles Dilenbeck of Geneseo; sisters Mrs. Bob (Shellie) Gucker of Valley Center, Calif., Tracy Dilenbeck of Geneseo, and Mrs. Steve (Gina) Holper of Andover; a nephew, Camden Holper; his stepmother, Jane Wright of Atkinson; a cousin, and spouse, Cary and Pat Wright of Geneseo; second cousins, Jacque Kibler and Jolene Johnson; and a family friend, Randy Stach along with several aunts, uncles and cousins. His father preceded him in death.
He had worked for Illini Beef in Joslin, and later, as a hired hand for several area farmers.
He was a member of Geneseo Moose Lodge 990 and was a social member of the VFW of Geneseo.
He enjoyed Nascar racing, wrestling, fishing and farming.
