Melissa Anne (Bayless) Six

GENESEO -- Melissa Anne (Bayless) Six, 35, died Saturday, June 1, 2002 in Davenport, after a long battle with a drug and alcohol addiction.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 6 at St. Malachy's Catholic Church, Geneseo.
The Rev. Michael Pakula and Deacon Harley Chaffee will officiate.
Burial is in North Cemetery, Geneseo.
Visitation is from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday at Wright Chapel, Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services, Geneseo, with a wake service starting at 8 p.m.
Memorials may be made to her family.
She was born Oct. 7, 1966, in Geneseo, the daughter of Rodger and Colleen (Cherry) Bayless.
She went to St. Malachy's Grade School and graduated from J.D. Darnall High School in 1984.
She graduated from Black Hawk College, Moline.
She worked at the Post Office, Regional Center in Davenport.
She had been married to Lennie Six.
Surviving are two daughters, Megan and Ashley, and two sons, Lance and Nicholas; her parents, of Dahinda; two sisters, Tamara Bayless of Rock Island, and Angela Hall of Moline; two brothers, Rodger Bayless, II of Dahinda, and Joseph Bayless of Galesburg, her grandparents, Barbara and Arthur Guyer of Geneseo; and nieces and nephews, Janelle Booth, Connor Hall and Bryce Bayless.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, camping, boating and weekends at the lake.

Kenneth L. Nelson

PRINCETON -- Kenneth L. Nelson, 81, of Princeton, died at 6:45 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2001, at Prairie View Healthcare, rural Princeton.
Cremation has been accorded.
Funeral services will be at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, at Norberg Memorial Home, Princeton, the Rev. Kim Peterson officiating.
Visitation is from 5-7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Bureau Valley Chapter of Ducks Unlimited or to Bureau County Para Transit.
He was born Jan. 24, 1920, in Hillsdale, the son of Charles and Sadie (Wise) Nelson.
He married Elizabeth Genster in January of 1948.
She preceded him in death Oct. 30, 1964, in Sheffield.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers.
Surviving are two sons, Tom (Wanda) Nelson of Princeton, and James (Laura) Nelson of Granville, Ohio; two daughters, Mrs. Garry (Susan) Vujanov of East Peoria, and Julie Nelson of Louisville, Ky.; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
He was a World War II veteran, serving in the Royal Canadian Air Force as an Eagle Squadron fighter pilot and then in the Army Air Corps 8th Air Force from 1941-45.
He was awarded two Bronze Stars and the Purple Heart.
He attended Augustana College.
He owned and operated National Drycleaners in Sheffield, for many years.
He later worked for Bituminous Casualty in Louisville.
He was an original board member for the former Western school district, and was a former member of the Sheffield American Legion post.
He was also a member of the Sheffield Lions Club, Princeton Elks Lodge 1461, Sheffield Masonic Lodge Ames 142, Bureau Valley Country Club and the Princeton Game and Fish Club.

Marcella R. Babcock

MOLINE -- Marcella R. Babcock, 82, of Moline, died Oct. 29, 2001, at Trinity Medical Center West, Rock Island.
Services were held Oct. 31, at Sacred Heart Church in Moline.
Inurnment will be in St. John's Cemetery, Bradford, at a later date.
She was born Aug. 30, 1919, the daughter of Jess and Julia (Ternus) Hopkins.
Surviving are a son, Mark (Sally) Babcock of Moline; a sister, Dorothy Sprinkle of Richardson, Texas; a brother, Richard Hopkins of McNabb; five grandchildren, Ira, Noah, Deena, Jonna and Teresa; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Michael and Steven; a sister, Lucille Nielsen; and four brothers, Clem, Elmer, Bert and John Hopkins.
She attended Bradford schools.
She was employed as a decorator for the former Shetter Fude Furniture in Moline, for eight years, retiring in 1972.
Prior to that, she worked at the former Spudnut Shop and the LeClaire Hotel in Moline.

Marilyn Ruth Bohm

PRINCETON -- Marilyn Ruth Bohm, 81, of Colonial Hall Living Center in Princeton, died at 6:40 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 23, 2001, at Colonial Hall.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 27, at Norberg Memorial Home, Princeton.
Visitation is from 1-2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Elm Lawn Memorial Park, Princeton.
She was born June 8, 1920, near Walnut, the daughter of Arthur and Junie (Dodd) Bohm.
Surviving are a sister, Pat Wilds of Sterling; a brother, Arthur Bohm of Pacific, Mo.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Genevieve Bohm and Irene DeVault; and a nephew, David Bohm.
She had worked as a sales associate at Bergner's Department Store in Peoria.

Robert L. Walker

TOULON - Robert L. Walker, 41, of St. Louis, and formerly of Toulon, died Monday, June 25, 2001, at his home.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 29, at DeBolt-Kidd Funeral Home, Toulon, the Rev. Prosper Tournear officiating.
There will be no visitation.
Burial will be in West Jersey Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
He was born Feb. 15, 1960, in Kewanee, the son of Andrew and Muriel (Tracy) Walker.
Surviving are his mother, of rural Toulon; a sister, Cynthia Landiss of Bloomington; a brother, James Walker of Lititz, Pa.; a niece; and a nephew.
He was preceded in death by his father and a niece.
He was a 1982 graduate of Illinois State University in Normal.
He worked as a data processor for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. in St. Louis.

Eleanor J. Nyboer

CAMBRIDGE - Eleanor J. Nyboer, 76, of Cambridge, died Saturday, April 7, 2001, at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus, Davenport, Iowa.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 11, at Rosedale Cemetery, Cambridge.
Visitation is from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9-10 a.m. Wednesday at Cambridge Chapel, Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services.
Memorials may be made to the Good Samaritan Activity Fund.
She was born May 31, 1924, in Atkinson, the daughter of John and Jennie (Marriman) VanDeVoorde.
She married Herman Nyboer, Sept. 16, 1941, in Luverne, Minn.
He preceded her in death Oct. 10, 1995.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Larry (Sharon) Mack of Milan; a daughter and her fiance, Deb Palmer and Mitch Hancock of Cambridge; a son, Gary (Jane) Nyboer of Sparland; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Loretta VeerKamp of Rockaway Beach, Mo.; and two brothers, Louis VanDeVoorde of Kewanee, and Raymond VanDeVoorde of Colona.
She was also preceded in death by a son, John; a grandson, Shane Nyboer; and a brother, Gustaf "Staf" VanDeVoorde.
She was educated in Larchwood, Iowa.
She and her husband farmed in the Orion area, for many years.
She had worked as a cook at the Green Acres Motel and Restaurant in Orion.
