Violet A. Welbourne

PROPHETSTOWN -- Violet A. Welbourne, 83, of Prophetstown, died Sunday, June 2, 2002, at CGH Medical Center, Sterling.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 6, at Prophetstown United Methodist Church.
Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Prophetstown.
Visitation is from 9:30 a.m. until time of services, Thursday, at the church.
A memorial fund has been established.
She was born July 17, 1918, in Saskatchewan, Canada, the daughter of Ernest and Grace (Carter) Swanson.
She married Glenn W. Welbourne, Aug. 1, 1935, in Reynolds, Ill.
He preceded her in death, May 18, 1983.
Surviving are daughters, Mrs. William (Peggy) Frank of Erie, and Mrs. Robert (Barbara) Koehler of Woodstock, Ill.; a son, Gerald (Judith) Welbourne of Prophetstown; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Jim (Maisie) Kramer of Prophetstown; and a brother, Dale Swanson of Kewanee.
She and her family lived in Kewanee, for many years, where she was employed at the Eagle Supermarket, retiring in 1978 as assistant manager.

Dr. James C. Parsons

GENESEO -- Dr. James C. Parsons, 72, of Geneseo, died Tuesday, March 19, 2002 in Winter Haven, Fla.
Funeral services are at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 23 at First United Methodist Church, Geneseo.
The Rev. Dr. Roger Perry will officiate.
Burial is in Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo.
Visitation is from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Friday, at Myers Chapel, Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services, Geneseo.
Memorials may be made to Geneseo Public Library or the First United Methodist Church, of which he was a member.
He was born May 6, 1929, in Silvis, the son of William J. and Edith (Stevens) Parsons.
He married JoAnn Walz on Aug. 16, 1952 in Rock Island.
She survives, as do a son, James F.W. Parsons, Chicago; daughters, Mrs. Bob (Jan) Comerford of McHenry, and Mrs. Bill (Julie) Dunbar and Mrs. John (Jennifer) Huffman, all of Bloomington; granddaughters, Jenna, Jill, Maggie, Grace and Janelle; and sisters, Isabel Smith of Silvis, and Mary Brent of Rock Island.
His parents, brothers Bill and Bob and a granddaughter, Lauren, preceded him in death.
He graduated from Illinois Wesleyan University and the University of Illinois Medical School.
He served in the Army as a doctor in Korea.
He founded Trinity Family Medical, and was a physician in Geneseo, and Henry County, for 40 years.
As a family practice physician, he delivered more than 2,500 babies.
He was active in Rotary, Illini Beef, State Savings and Loan, his church's finance and building committees, Henry Stark County Medical Society (president), Hammond Henry Hospital Staff (president), Illinois State Medical Society (delegate), Geneseo School Board, Family Medical Clinic (founder), Maple City Band and Polka Band, Geneseo Country Club, Retired Physicians of Rock Island County, S.A.G., WVIK Board, Hillcrest Home Committee, Walnut Growers Association, Geneseo Investment Club and Geneseo Grid Club.
He was an avid sports fan and golfer and was a Geneseo football fan and team physician.
He enjoyed Illinois and Big Ten football and basketball.
He sang in the church choir and began piano and clarinet lessons after his retirement in 1994, and played clarinet in the Maple City Band.
In the early 1980s, he planted a forest around his home and spent many hours pruning and mowing his walnut trees.

William J. Collins

PRINCEVILLE -- William J. Collins, 87, of Princeville, died at 11:20 p.m. Monday, Dec. 10, 2001, at Methodist Medical Center, Peoria.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, at Princeville United Methodist Church.
The Rev. Rex Hendrix will officiate.
Visitation will be one hour prior to funeral services at the church.
Burial will be in Wyoming Cemetery, with military rites conducted by Chillicothe American Legion and VFW.
Memorials may be made to Princeville United Methodist Church, of which he was a member; or Akron/Princeville Ambulance Service.
Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home, Princeville, is in charge of arrangements.
Born Dec. 5, 1914, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of William and Maude (Goodfellow) Collins, he married Phyllis J. Jackson on Dec. 22, 1943, in Stark.
She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, William L. (Bonnie) Collins of Cumming, Ga., and Robert D. (Patsy) Collins of Soldotna, Alaska; a daughter, Mrs. Steve (Sue) Race of Chandler, Ariz.; eight grandchildren; and a half-brother, William G. Collins of Connecticut.
His parents, and one sister, Marilyn Chilibolost, preceded him in death.
He was a World War II Army veteran, serving in the European Theater as a second lieutenant.
He worked for the Atchison, Topeka, & Santa Fe Railroad for more than 30 years, starting in baggage and retiring as a conductor in 1977.
He was a member of the Chillicothe American Legion Post 9, Chillicothe VFW Post 4999 and Princeville VFW Post 1255.
He was a lifetime member of the United Transportation Union.

Edwin J. Tripamer

GENESEO - Edwin J. Tripamer, 80, of rural Geneseo, died Tuesday, April 17, 2001, in his home.
Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 21, at St. Malachy's Catholic Church, Geneseo, the Rev. Michael Pakula officiating.
Burial will be in North Cemetery, Geneseo.
Visitation is from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Myers Chapel, Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services, Geneseo, with a parish rosary at 7:30 p.m.
Memorials may be made to the St. Jude Children's Fund.
He was born April 14, 1921, in Chicago, the son of Charles and Giesella Tripamer.
He married Marie Costello in Chicago, in July of 1949.
She survives, as do a daughter, Marilyn Derango of Geneseo; a son, Douglas Tripamer of Osceola, Wis.; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Irma Tripamer of Bartlett, Ill.
Two brothers preceded him in death.
He served in the Army during World War II.
He was an electrical engineer and operated his own company, Printed Circuit Products, in Chicago, until retiring in 1982.
He was a member of St. Malachy's Catholic Church.

Myrtle E. Bollivar

TAMPICO -- Myrtle E. Bollivar, 88, of Prophets Riverview Good Samaritan Center in Prophetstown, and formerly of Tampico, died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003 at the center.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, at Garland Funeral Home, Tampico, the Rev. Wesley Dickson officiating.
Burial will be in Tampico Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation is from 10 a.m. until time of services, Saturday, at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Prophets Riverview Good Samaritan Center.
She was born Dec. 27, 1904, in Dysart, Iowa, the daughter of John and Catherina (Bothe) Huyett.
She married Everett Bollivar, Dec. 29, 1923, in Dixon.
He preceded her in death in November of 1970.
Surviving are three sons, Clarence (JoAnn) Bollivar of Largo, Fla., John (Patty) Bollivar of Prophetstown, and Wayne (Virginia) Bollivar of McLean, Ill.; two daughters, Alice VanDeVoorde of Erie, and Mrs. Sam (Caroline) Parkinson of Rockford; a daughter-in-law, Eureath Bollivar of Prophetstown; 18 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Inez Frerichs of Collins, Iowa and Ruth Tucker of Dixon; a brother, Everett (Doris) Huyett of Dixon; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; two sons, William and Donald; and a sister, Ethel Shoemaker.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Tampico First United Methodist Church, and a 50-year member of the Tampico American Legion Auxiliary, where she had been past president and past treasurer.

Sarah F. Swank

TOULON -- Sarah F. Swank, 89, of rural Toulon, died at 1:55 a.m. Monday, June 3, 2002, at Kewanee Hospital.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 6, at DeBolt-Kidd Funeral Home, Toulon.
The Rev. Paul Wier will officiate.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home.
Burial will be in West Jersey Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Toulon United Methodist Church, of which she was a member; or Chaddock School in Quincy.
Born Oct. 17, 1912, in Campbellsville, Ky., the daughter of Zolly and Mattie (Campbell) Page, she married Harry Swank, December 27, 1939, in Potomac, Ill.
He died Dec. 31, 1999, in Galesburg.
Surviving are a son, Harold Swank of rural Toulon; a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Sharon) Olson of DeKalb; three granddaughters; a great-grandson; a great-granddaughter; and a brother, Thomas Page of Galva.
Her parents, a brother, and a sister also preceded her in death.
She taught school in the West Jersey area, for many years.
