Esther VanDerSnick

GENESEO -- Esther VanDerSnick, 96, a resident of Provena Pineview Care Center in St. Charles, and formerly of Geneseo, died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2001, at the center.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, at Vandemore Funeral Home, Atkinson, the Rev. David Esche officiating.
Burial will be in North Cemetery, Geneseo.
Visitation is one hour prior to services Friday, at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Caring Community of the Batavia United Methodist Church or the First Presbyterian Church, Batavia.
She was born Aug. 31, 1905, in Geneseo, the daughter of Charles A. and Jane (Pemberton) Nicely.
She married Raymond VanDerSnick, Feb. 24, 1927, in Geneseo.
He preceded her in death in 1960.
Surviving are two sons, Donavon (Marian) VanDerSnick of Batavia, and Stan (Ginny) VanDerSnick of Elmwood, Ind.; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Mary Ann Green of Geneseo.
She was also preceded in death by 13 brothers and sisters.
She was a 50-year member of First Presbyterian Church, Geneseo.
She was a member of the War Mothers and enjoyed bingo, playing cards, dancing and fishing.

Carolyn Jane Anderson

BRADFORD -- Carolyn Jane Anderson, 83, of Bradford, died at 10:45 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, 2002, at her home.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4, at Leet Memorial United Methodist Church, Bradford, with the Rev. Lee Legg officiating.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Grant-Johnson Funeral Home, Bradford.
Burial will be in Bradford Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to her church, American Cancer Society or Kewanee Hospital Hospice.
She was born March 24, 1919, in Henry County, to Oscar Ericson and Bessie Nordstrom.
She married Alan John Anderson, July 13, 1938, in Iowa City, Iowa.
He died in October 1990.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and three sisters.
Survivors include a son, Barry (Sandra) Anderson of Bradford; three daughters, Eloyce (Richard) Slown of Lexington, Ill., Karen Schuneman of Austin, Texas, and Judith Taylor of Bradford; 12 grandchildren, and 24 great-grandchildren.
She was a member of Leet United Methodist Church, Bradford, and the United Methodist Women.
She was a 4-H leader and Cub Scout den mother, both in Bradford, and was a Stark County Home Bureau member, as well as a homemaker.

Eula Mae Stout

KEWANEE -- Eula Mae Stout, 88, of Kewanee, died at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2003 at Illini Hospital in Silvis.
Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 30, at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, rural Kewanee.
Brian Giese will officiate.
There will be no visitation.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home, Kewanee, is in charge of arrangements.
She was born Oct. 2, 1914 in Morton, the daughter of Charles S. and Myrtle (Mullen) Massie.
She was reared and educated in Morton.
She married Henry Stout, July 23, 1953, in Hannibal, Mo.
He preceded her in death April 23, 1991.
Three brothers, Leroy, Bill, and George Massie; and a sister, Inez M. Hudson, also preceded her in death.
She is survived by a brother, Charles Massie of Sparta, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews, including Kathy Schultz of Colona, with whom she resided the past several months.
She was a nurse's aide, having been employed at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, prior to her retirement.
She was a member of the Lighthouse Church of God in Colona, and had also attended First Christian Church in Kewanee.
She enjoyed collecting Barbie dolls and designing doll clothes for which she had won some awards.
She enjoyed gardening, flowers, crocheting and knitting.

Mary Jane Nelson

KEWANEE -- Mary Jane Nelson, 86, of rural Kewanee, died Thursday, May 29, 2003 at Cain's Boarding Home in Kewanee.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 4, at Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home, Kewanee.
The Rev. Chuck Trent will officiate.
Burial will be in Galva Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Kewanee Hospital Home Health Care.
She was born Feb. 22, 1917 in Peoria, the only child of Forrest and Clara (Kiefer) Duncan.
The family moved to Galva, where she graduated from Galva High School in 1935.
She married Don E. Nelson, Dec. 12, 1942 in St. Louis.
He preceded her in death Dec. 28, 1995.
Her parents also preceded her.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Jim (Becky) Frankenreider of Annawan, and Mrs. Rene (Leanna) Verstraete of Keller, Texas;.and three granddaughters, Mrs. Justin (Kimberly) Park of Geneseo, Kelly Frankenreider of Kansas City, Kan., and Mrs. T.J. (Robin) Cashman of Denton, Texas.
In the 1950s, she worked as a sales clerk at Good's Furniture in Kewanee, and in the 1960s, she and her husband raised chickens and sold eggs at their home, Tower Hill Farm.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Kewanee, and enjoyed wintering in Florida, with her husband the past 20 years of their married life.

Anna L. Martzluf

BRADFORD -- Anna L. Martzluf, 85, of Bradford, died at 10:15 p.m. Sunday, June 8, 2003 at Rosewood Nursing Home in Peoria.
Cremation rites will be accorded.
Funeral services will be at a later date.
Inurnment will be in Bradford Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Bradford Rescue Squad or to St. Mary's Catholic Church, Kickapoo, of which she was a member.
Grant-Johnson Funeral Home, Bradford, is in charge of arrangements.
She was born Feb. 17, 1918 in Kickapoo, the daughter of Adam and Mary Jane (Backes) Heinz.
She married Eldred H., Martzluf, Oct. 22, 1936 in Kickapoo.
He preceded her in death Oct. 30, 2002.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Jean A.) Plotner of Tiskilwa, and Mrs. John (Mary J.) Plotner of Santa Ana, Calif.; a granddaughter, Mrs. Jeff (Brenda A.) Plotner-Sampson of Bettendorf, Iowa; a step-great-grandson, Donovan Sampson of Bettendorf; and a brother, Donald Heinz of Kickapoo. She was also preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, three sisters and a grandson, Brian E. Plotner.
She was a homemaker, and worked in housekeeping in private homes and at Bradley University in Peoria.
She was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society at her church.

Fern L. McMahon

GALVA -- Fern L. McMahon, 102, of Toulon Health Care Center and formerly of Galva, died at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 10, 2003 at the center.
Cremation has been accorded.
Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, June 14, at Pleasant View Cemetery, Kewanee.
There will be no visitation.
Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church in Kewanee, or Toulon Health Care Center.
Rux Funeral Home, Galva, is in charge of arrangements.
She was born Jan. 31, 1901 in Kewanee, the daughter of John and Lanora (DeFliger) Peden.
She married Wallace "Mac" McMahon; he preceded her in death.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; six brothers; a sister; and a son, Donald Rosenow, who was killed in World War II.
Surviving are three stepsons, Charlie and Harold McMahon, both of Kewanee, and James McMahon of Silvis; several nieces and nephews, including Janet Coon of Galesburg, and Lois Kempin of Kewanee; and several great- and great-great-nieces and nephews.
She had worked as a clerk in the catalog department at Sears in Kewanee.
She had been affiliated with First Presbyterian Church in Kewanee.
She enjoyed bowling, card playing and bingo.
