A funeral mass for Nick P. Michels, 68, formerly of Mt. Prospect and later moved to Ingleside, will be held Friday, Feb. 21 at St. Thomas Becket Church in Des Plaines at 10 a.m. Visitation will be held at Oehler Funeral Home on Thursday, Feb. 20 from 2 to 9 p.m. in Des Plaines. Mr. Michels was born in 1935 in Chicago. He worked as a construction superintendent and was also a U.S. army veteran. He passed away Friday, Feb. 21 at Children's Memorial Hospital. Survivors include spouse Virginia "Ginny" nee Schmalzer; sons Nick J. Michels McHenry and Steven S. (Ann) Michels; daughters Holly (Gerald) Ferris; sister Margaret Deerhing; grandchildren Kathryn, Rachel, Michael, Keri, Nick, Tanner, Tyler and Matthew. He was preceded in death by the Late Keri Ann-Michels, daughter in law of Amy Michels.

Mrs. Zamiar passed away Friday, Feb. 14 at Nazarethville. Survivors include her nieces Lorraine Chlad and Alice Gratowski; nephews Robert (Janet) Neugebauer and Daniel (Virginia) Neugebauer; great-nieces Susan Neugebauer-Wittich, Mary Alice Chlad-Kondracek, Julie Chlad-Bojanowski, Diane Neugebauer-Spangler, Denise Neugebauer-Drnec, and Donna Neugebauer-Adamek; and great-nephews Joe Chlad and Jim Neugebauer. Mrs. Zamiar was preceded in death by her husband Phil.

He was a member of the Carpenters Union #181, the Ambassadors Singing Group and the First Presbyterian Church of Arlington Heights Men's Club. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps in the late 1930s, and also served as a medic during World War II. Mr. Lewin died Monday, Aug. 16 at his home. Mr. Lewin is preceded in death by his wife Margaret and sister Clara Messerschmidt. Mr. Lewin is survived by his sisters Helen Hoff, Martha Fontana; companion Lydia Erikson; children Wayne (Lynn), Glenn (Melanie), Gary (Janet), Gordon (Janet), Yvonne (George) Raetzke; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Whitson passed away Sunday, Aug. 22 at Condel Medical Center. He had been the owner of Des Plaines Auto Parts for 40 years. He was a past member of the Des Plaines American Legion. He served in the Air Force for 37 years, including duties in World War II. He retired as a lieutenant colonel. He is preceded in death by his wife, Elaine (nee Cook). He is survived by his five children; five grandchildren; and three siblings.

She also lived many of her adult years in Elmhurst before moving to Minnesota. Mrs. Gulbransen died Friday, Oct. 1 in St. Paul, Minn. Mrs. Gulbransen is preceded in death by her son David. Mrs. Gulbransen is survived by her husband, Jim; children, Mallorie, Heather, Allyson, Brent; grandson, Jackson; and 10 brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his wife, Stephanie (nee Milas) Woytowicz; his children, Stanley W. and Karen (Keith) Lewandowski; his grandchildren, Michael, Kristen, Ryan and Rachel; his siblings, Walter (Marge), Bernice (George) Budrus, Lottie Nowicki and Ted (Mary); along with many nieces, nephews and friends. Mr. Woytowicz is preceded in death by his siblings, John, Genevieve Zajac, Edward and Milton. Memorial contributions may be made to All Saints Cathedral Parish or Faith in Action Campaign.

A funeral Mass for Edna M. Cunningham (nee Voisin), 103, of Des Plaines, was held Monday, Oct. 11 at Saint Mary Church. Interment was in All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines. Born on Aug. 18, 1901 in Teeswater, Ontario, Mrs. Cunningham passed away Friday, Oct. 8. She was a long-time resident of Des Plaines, where she had many friends and close neighbors. Mrs. Cunningham was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas E.; and her daughter Helen I. Kirby. She is survived by her children, Thomas E. (Elvira) Cunningham, of Oshkosh, Wis.; Mary T. (Frank) Pesche, of Des Plaines; Margaret A. Hoeft, of Lake Havasu City, Az.; 23 grandchildren and her many great-grandchildren. Arrangements were made by Lauterburg and Oehler Funeral Home in Arlington Hts.

Services were held for Pierce Graney, 82, of Niles Oct. 6 at St. Isaac Jogues Church. Interment in All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines. Graney, who was born March 23, 1922 died Oct. 2, 2004 in the Meadowbrook Nursing home, Bolingbrook. During WWII, he served in the U.S. Coast Guard. He was a printer at the Chicago Tribune. Survivors inlcude his wife, Mary Lou; children, Pierce Thomas Jr. (La Juanna), Janet, William Francis, James J., Daniel R., Peter K. (Jo Anna) Graney; grandchildren, William, Megan, Christine and Sean Ryan Graney; and brother, William (Agatha) Graney.

ALFRED R. PETERSEN
Longtime Rosemont Resident
Private visitation will be held for Alfred R. Petersen, 85, a Rosemont resident for the past 30 years. Born Sept. 1, 1919, in Chicago, Mr. Petersen was employed by Rand-McNally for over 25 years before retiring. He was also a member of the Morton Grove Moose Lodge. Mr. Petersen is survived by his wife, Antoinette (nee Arrigo); his children, Keith Petersen and step-children, Richard, Eileen Simpson and Carol Zahnen; his 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Arrangements were entrusted to River Woods Funeral Chapels.
