Visitation will be Wednesday for Beverly Ann Palonis, 59, of Glenwood, formerly of Chicago's Roseland neighborhood, who died Sunday at Ingalls Memorial Hospital in Harvey.
Mrs. Palonis worked as a waitress and manager at Sanfratello's Pizza in Glenwood for 27 years.
She was a member of the Cancer Support Group of Homewood and helped others afflicted with the disease after she was diagnosed with her own cancer in July 1992.
Mrs. Palonis was a graduate of Fenger Academy in Chicago's Roseland neighborhood.
After high school, Mrs. Palonis modeled for Adriel's Ladies Wear in Chicago. She also won the Miss Cal Harbor Beauty Contest and was runner-up in the Miss Roseland Beauty Contest in 1957.
Survivors include her husband, Raymond Palonis of the home; a daughter, Jodi Palonis of Glenwood; a son, Dan Palonis of Chicago; and two brothers, Ronald Dantolan of Glenwood and Harry Dantolan of Chicago.
Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Panozzo Brothers Funeral Home, 530 W. 14th St., Chicago Heights.
A funeral mass will be said at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Anthony Church, 11533 S. Prairie Ave., Chicago.

Mr. Sichak retired from U.S. Steel after 45 years of service. He was also a member of the Greek Catholic Union.

Ronald Collier
Musical instrument maker
Ronald Collier, 55, of Chicago's Wrightwood community, died Monday at home.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. today at Bethany Union Church, 1750 W. 103rd St., Chicago. Burial is private.
Mr. Collier was a world-renowned builder of fine early music brass instruments. He began his career with the Schilke Instrument Co. on Wabash Avenue, where he repaired and built modern trumpets.
He soon branched out on his own and found a niche in the international music community, said John Devens, owner of the World Folk Music Co. in Chicago's Beverly community. A scholar on early music, Mr. Collier was famous for his Baroque trumpet and Sakbut, a Baroque instrument and precursor of the modern trombone, Devens said.
"He was one of the few builders in the world who built the instrument to the specifications used in the 17th Century," Devens said.
His instruments are used by many early music consorts in the world, including the Grand Old Guarde stationed in Virginia, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and many colleges and universities throughout the world that offer early music studies, Devens said.
He worked closely with members of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra on the repairs and designs of modern instruments.
Mr. Collier was a tuba player who played for many years with the famed Red Garter Banjo Band.
He was an Army veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Wendy Collier of Wrightwood; two daughters, Morgan Hennington of Beverly and Holly Collier of Wrightwood; a sister, Michelle Trotman of Alabama; and a niece.

She was born Dec. 9, 1899, in Chicago. Mrs. Johnson was a secretary for the 5th Army Division for 35 years before she retired in 1965.

Willard "Bill" Manchester, 84, of New Lenox, died Wednesday at Rosewood Care Center in Joliet.

He is survived by his wife, Lauretta Manchester of New Lenox; three daughters, Geraldine Borne of New Lenox, Carole Olson of Downers Grove and J. Betty Stuart of Wisconsin; a sister, Luella Anderson of Michigan; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was a former city treasurer for Harvey.

She was a former member of St. John United Church of Christ in Chicago Heights; a member of The Church of the Palms, United Church of Christ in Sun City, Ariz.; a member of the PEO Sisterhood; and served with the Girl Scouts of America.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Rae Revell; three daughters, Julie Cramer of Park Forest, Linda Hartmann of Homewood and Janet Williams of Venice, Calif.; a sister, Gertrude Pfeil of Sun City, Ariz.; and four grandchildren.

Ashley Blanusha, 16, of Tinley Park, died Saturday at home.
Funeral services were held Monday. Interment was at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Worth.
Miss Blanusha had been a student at Andrew High School in Tinley Park, attending on a part-time basis since being diagnosed with a brain tumor in early 1998. Her illness prevented her from returning to school this fall.
She was an equestrian and poet who was recognized with awards for her writing ability.
In August 1998, eight months after being diagnosed with the brain tumor, the Make A Wish Foundation sent her and her family to England and Scotland for two weeks for a personal tour of the home and gravesite of Princess Diana, whom Miss Blanusha admired because of Princess Diana's humanitarian work.
She is survived by her parents, Deborah and James Blanusha; a brother, Nicholas Blanusha; her paternal grandfather, Peter Blanusha; her maternal grandparents, Joseph and Janice Dorff; her great-grandmother, Anne Vilimek; and an aunt and uncle.

He also was a sub-contractor for Jerit Supply Co. in Chicago for more than 20 years. Mr. Butzer was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Country Club Hills.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sylvia Butzer; two daughters, Elaine Scharnhorst and Janet Stuenkel, both of Matteson; a son, Robert Butzer of Arbor Vitae, Wis.; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
