Nick "Corky" Hinko

Nick "Corky" Hinko, a retired Chicago police officer, died Saturday at Olympia Fields Osteopathic Medical Center. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today at the Panozzo Brothers Funeral Home at 530 W. 14th St., in Chicago Heights. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home Monday at 11:30 a.m. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery. Mr. Hinko, who resided in Matteson but was a former longtime resident of Chicago's Roseland community, retired from the Chicago Police Department in 1981 after 31 years of service. While working as a Chicago police officer, Mr. Hinko was assigned to the Burnside District and Motor Pool. Mr. Hinko was also a motorcycle patrolman who operated the three wheeled motorcycles formerly used by the department. He was a veteran of World War II where he served in the U.S. Coast Guard. He was also a member of the Illinios Police Association, Fraternal Order of Police and past president of the American Legion Triangle Post in the Burnside neighborhood. Survivors include many nieces and nephews.

Ms. Kapica was born July 7, 1934 in Anna, Ill.. She was a homemaker and was an active member of the United Christian Church in Country Club Hills. She is survived by her husband, George; a daughter, Linda Kay Whaley of Los Angeles; two sons, John Kapica of Schaumburg and James Kapica of Park Forest; her mother, Mina Manus of Anna; a brother, Robert Manus also of Anna; and three grandchildren. Burial will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Worth. Born in Chicago on Oct. 9 1930, Mr. Murausky had worked as a machinist for International Harvester/Navistar. He served in the Army and fought in the Korean War. Mr. Murausky is survived by six sons, John of Blue Island, Michael of Kankakee, Steven of Midlothian, Bob of Midlothian, David of Berwyn and Donald of Blue Island; a sister, Marilyn Houle of Midlothian; and three grandchildren.

A prayer service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. A noon funeral mass will follow at St. Louis De Montfort Church, 8808 S. Ridgeland Ave., in Oak Lawn. Burial will be private. Mr. Reardon had served as president of the Ridgeland School District 122 board president and as an Oak Lawn Park District commissioner. For 25 years, Mr. Reardon also served as a volunteer firefighter with the Columbus Manor Fire District. Mr. Reardon had retired as a vice president and sales manager/design engineer for E.C. Perry Co. He is survived by his wife, Marlys Reardon; three sons, Steven Reardon, Charles Reardon and William Reardon; four daughters Patrice, Therese, Marlys and Elyse; a brother, Robert; a sister, Carol; and four grandchildren.

James W. Walker, 80, a longtime resident of Homewood, died Friday. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. today at Tews Funeral Home, 18230 S. Dixie Highway in Homewood. A memorial Eucharist will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Episcopal Church of St. John the Evangelist. Burial will be at the Episcopal Church of St. John the Evangelist Garden Altar. Mr. Walker worked as a photo-engraver, retouching craftsman for R.R. Donnelley and Company in Chicago from 1948 until he retired in 1981. After retiring he served as consultant for the company until 1982. Mr. Walker was a longtime active member of the Episcopal Church of St. John the Evangelist, where he was a Vestry Member and school church teacher. He was a captain of the U.S. Army Air Corps where he served as a flight instructor at Randolph and Kelly Air Fields in Texas. Mr. Walker was a graduate of Depauw University and a member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity. Survivors include his wife, Joy Walker; two sons, Peter Walker of Homewood and Thomas Walker of Flossmoor; daughter Susan Petrak of Naperville; two grandsons; and one great granddaughter.

Robert W. Gorski, 78, of Lemont, died Friday at home. A funeral mass will be said at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Alphonsus Church at Logan and State streets in Lemont. Burial will be at the parish cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the auditorium at Lemont High School, 800 Porter St., Lemont. Arrangements are being handled by Markiewicz Funeral Home in Lemont. Mr. Gorski was born Aug. 15, 1923. He was a lifelong resident of Lemont, attending St. Alphonsus Grade School, Joliet Catholic High School and the University of Notre Dame. With his wife, Mary, he owned and operated Theo J. Gorski & Son Inc. and Gorski Distributors Inc. in Lemont. Mr. Gorski served in the Navy during World War II. He was a member of the Notre Dame Alumni Association, a member and past president of the Lemont Chamber of Commerce, a member of American Legion Post 243, VFW Post 5819, Knights of Columbus Council 1599, Lemont Lions Club, Elks Lodge 296 and Lockport Lodge 1557. Mr. Gorski was a former Lemont Fire Protection District Commissioner and co-founder and former board member of Lemont Savings. He is survived by his wife, Mary; three daughters, Mary Wicke, Karen Etzkorn and Judy Newbold; three sons, Robert John Gorski, David Gorski and Kevin Gorski; 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He retired in 1985 from his position as an administrative assistant at the University of Chicago. Mr. Kreisheimer is survived by a daughter, Karen Cromwell, and four grandchildren.

He was graduated from Scanlon School and Tilden Tech High School. He served in the Army during the Korean War. He worked as a purchasing agent at Calumet Clean Towel and its successor, George O'Day Co. He retired in 1982. Mr. Lavarda is a member of the American Legion Roseland Post 49. Mr. Lavarda is survived by his wife, Louise; a sister, Anne Ronzani; and several brothers- and sisters-in-law.
