Visitation will be from 7:30 to 9 a.m. Wednesday at the Styninger-Krupp Funeral Home in Nashville and from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church. John Edward Griffin
WEST FRANKFORT -- John Edward Griffin, 89, passed away at 10 a.m. Sunday, June 2, 2002, in West Frankfort. He was born to Ella and Ben Griffin April 8, 1913, in Marvel, Ala. Eddie owned and operated Griffin's Grocery in West Frankfort for over thirty years. He served as Franklin County Circuit Clerk from 1964 to 1980 and held various civic positions including justice of the peace, City Commissioner and Park Board. He was a member of the Second Baptist Church where he served as Deacon and Sunday School Superintendent, Second Baptist Men's Prayer Breakfast Group, Kiwanis Club and Franklin County Country Club. Eddie married Georgia Sniderwin on July 21, 1934, at the Second Baptist Church parsonage in West Frankfort. Together, they enjoyed over sixty-seven years of marriage. Eddie is survived by his wife, Georgia; sister, Estelle Zanter of West Frankfort; three sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Don L. Griffin and wife, Vicki, of West Frankfort; the Rev. Jon E. Griffin and wife, Sally, of West Frankfort; the Rev. Ken Griffin and wife, Mary Jo, of St. Charles, Mo. ; two daughters and sons-in-law, Marilou Proffitt and husband, Benny, of Brentwood, Tenn. and Georgianne Graskewicz and husband, Don, of West Frankfort; 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and three nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Fred, his sister, Ethel Burton and two sons, George Edward and Richard Dean (Dick). Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 5, 2002, at the Second Baptist Church at the corner of Oak and Odle Streets in West Frankfort, with the Rev. Brett Beasley officiating. Burial will be in the Tower Heights Cemetery in West Frankfort. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 4, 2002 from 5-9 p.m. at the Second Baptist Church. Parker-Reedy Funeral Home in West Frankfort is in charge of arrangements. Donations may be made to the Second Baptist Church Building Fund and the Frankfort Community High School Athletic Department and will be accepted at the church or the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 4, at Mitchell- Hughes funeral home, with Rev. Jeff Baker officiating. Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery in Marion. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday, June 3, at the funeral home. Sharon was born April 28, 1951, in Rockford to Rev. John and Mary Lou (Hersinger) Jackson. She married Rev. Vern Goode in Marion on November 15, 1969, and he survives in Marion. Other survivors include daughter Jennifer Lynn Goode of Marion; mother Mary Lou Jackson of Marion; sister and brother-in-law Cindy and Robh Ruppel of Glendale, Calif. ; special friends Diana and Les Cranick of Marion and special friend John Will of Green field; niece Austyn Ruppel of Glendale, Calif. ; and several other nieces and nephews; half-brother and sister-in-law David and Debbie Jackson of St. Louis; half-sister and brother-in-law Marilyn and Tom Smelik of St. Louis; father-in-law Rev. James Goode of Sacramento, Calif. ; four brothers-in-law, Rev. Douglas and wife Betty Goode of Dripping Springs, Ark. ; James and Edna Goode of Etters, Pa., Gary and Pam Goode of Sacramento, CaliF. and Rev. David and Mona Goode of Charlotte, N. C. ; sister in-law Earline and Jewell Todd of Millstadt. Her father Rev. John Jackson; her maternal and paternal grandparents and one uncle preceded her in death. Sharon was employed at the Veterans Administration Medical Center as an Administrative Assistant. She was a member of The Abundant Life Assembly of God in Marion.
