CHRISTOPHER -- Betty Jean Kee Rollins, 73, died at 4:24 p.m. Saturday, June 1, 2002, at her home. She was born July 21, 1928, in Johnston City, the daughter of Tommy Kee and Ethel Beatrice Sheely. She was a homemaker and attended the South Side Baptist Church in Christopher. She is survived by one sister, Margarette "Gertie" Kee of Christopher. She was proceeded in death by her parents. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 4, at the Gilbert Funeral Home in Christopher, with Minister Clyde Dillman officiating. Burial will be at Maple Hill Cemetery in Sesser. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of services on Tuesday, June 4.

Private funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 4, at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro. Burial will be in White County Memorial Gardens Cemetery near Carmi. There will be no visitation.
James Stockman
MARION -- James B. Stockman, age 71, of Marion, passed away at 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 30, 2002, in the Marion Memorial Hospital of Marion. He was born in Fall River, Tennessee, on April 8, 1931, the son of Herman Reginald and Dorothy May (Bowman) Stockman. James answered the call of his country and began his career in the United States Navy by enlisting in 1948, at Cincinnati, Ohio. Some of the highlights of his career included attending the U. S. Naval School of Military Justice in 1952, and was commissioned CWO-3 at the U. S. Naval Officer Candidate School, Newport, Rhode Island on April 7, 1967. He was Assistant Flag Secretary on the Staff of Commander Cruiser-Destroyer Force, U. S. Pacific Fleet from July 15, 1971, until July 21, 1974. His last duty station before retirement was Director, Enlisted Personnel Dept., Naval Administrative Naval Training Center, San Diego, CA from August 2, 1974, until his retirement on September 30, 1975. He was united in marriage to Rena McInturff on April 2, 1986, in San Antonio, Texas. Together they have enjoyed over twenty-six years of marriage. James's church membership was with the Herrin Church of ChriSt. Some of his other enjoyments and hobbies were golfing, building and flying remote controlled airplanes, building glass boxes, model ships and doing woodworking. He also accomplished an extensive genealogical study of his family history. James is survived by his wife, Rena of Marion; daughter and son-in-law, Sheryl and Robert Young of Spirit Lake, Idaho; son, Richard Stockman of Lakeside, Calif., four stepsons, William Wyatt of Marion, Robert Wyatt and his wife, Barbara, of Richardson, Texas, Rex Wyatt and his wife, Debbie, of San Jose, Calif., and Tracey Wyatt and his wife, Marla, of Marion, three grandchildren, one great-grandchild, fourteen step-grandchildren, three step-great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Martha and John Bennet of Warsaw, Ky. ; and a brother Herbert Stockman of Cincinnati, Ohio. His parents preceded him in death. The funeral service for James B. Stockman will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, June 5, 2002, in the Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home of Marion, with Minister Scott Cody officiating. Interment will follow with military honors at the Berea Cemetery of Vienna. The time of visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 4, 2002, between the hours of 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. at Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home. Charles Boyt
MARION -- Charles William Boyt, age 73, of Marion, passed away at 5:20 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29, 2002, in St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, Mo. He was born in Marion, the son of Charlie L. and Zolla Mae (Ednger) Boyt. Charles answered the call of his country by serving in the United States Marine Corps as a Military Police Officer during WW II. After his time of service, Charles settled in the Detroit, Michigan area working for Dodge Automotive as a car hauler. He was married to Thelma Phillips on April 8, 1950, in Angola, Indiana. In 1959, Charles and his family moved back to the Marion area. Since being back in Marion he worked many years ago as manager of ABC Liquor. He later became a guard for the Federal Prison Bureau, working at the Marion Federal Prison for many years until his retirement in 1972. He was an avid sports fan, especially of baseball and bowling. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Vickie and Ron Blandford of Marion; son, Chuck Boyt of Marion; three grandchildren, Angelina Barnaby and Steve Blandford of Marion and David Blandford of Carbondale; four great grandchildren, Alex Barnaby and Dalton and Riley Blandford all of Marion and Lauren Russell of Carbondale; sister, Shirley Mae Winkler of Herrin; two brothers, Edward and Bob Almeda both of Gary, Ind. ; two aunts, Myrtie Boyt Meadows of Marion and Edith Boyt Felts of Carbondale; and his cousin, Bob Boyt of Marion, who was like a brother to him. He will be missed by all his family and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Charles W. Boyt Jr. ; grandson, Michael Boyt; sister, Gusta Lee Baily; and his uncle, Jack Boyt who was like a father to him. Graveside committal services for Charles William Boyt will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 4, 2002, in the Maplewood Cemetery of Marion, with Gordon Lambert officiating. Those wishing to attend the committal service should gather at the cemetery prior to the time of the service. Military graveside committal rites will be conducted by V. F. W. Heyde-Pillow Post No. 1301 of Marion. The time of visitation will be between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Monday, June 3, 2002, at Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home of Marion. MARION -- Jack L. Horsley, 79, died at 11 p.m. Friday, May 31, 2002 in Parkway Manor. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Mitchell- Hughes Funeral Home, with Rev. Melva England officiating. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by VFW Post 1301 of Marion. Visitation will be from 5 until 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association. Memorial envelopes are available at the funeral home. Mr. Horsley retired from CIPS with 27 years of service as a switchboard operator at CIPS Grand Tower Plant. Prior to working for CIPS he was a construction electrician. He was of the Methodist faith. He was a World War II Navy veteran. He was a member of B. P. O. E. #800 in Marion, where he was past Exhalted Ruler. He was also a member of the American Legion in Murphysboro, Jackson County Country Club and Kokopelli Golf Club in Marion. He was born June 9, 1922 in Marion to Luther and Edith (Davis) Horsley. They preceded him in death. He was married to Inez (Anderson) Horsley Dec. 19, 1943 in Marion. She survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Jackie K. Butti of South Bend, Ind. and JoAnn Ober and her husband, Rick, of Carterville; six grandchildren, Michelle Giannuzza of South Bend, Ind., Angela McLaughlin of St. Louis, Mo., Nicole McRae of St. Louis, Mo., Jennifer Hagen of Pana, Brian Ober of Palatine and Sara Ober of St. Louis. ; nine great grandchildren, Dominic and Vincenzo Giannuzzi, Kalyn and Brooke McLaughlin, Alex, Noah and Cole Hagen and Ashlyn and Isaac Ober. One brother, Bill Horsley, and one sister, June Horsley, who died in infancy, preceded him in death.

JOHNSTON CITY -- Santo Sciluffo, 72, of Johnston City, died Saturday June 1, 2002, at 7:30 a.m., at his family home. Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 4, 2002, at Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City, with Sister Catherine Wellinghoff officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, in Johnston City. Visitation will be after 9 a.m., Tuesday, June 4, 2002, at the funeral home. Santo was born January 29, 1930, in Chicago, the son of Giuseppe and Rose (Citrano) Sciluffo. He married Barbara (Teuscher) on November 11, 1954, who preceded him in death on September 6, 1988. He was an Assembler at Chicago Aerial Incorporated, in Barrington. He was a veteran of the Korean War. He was of the Catholic Faith. He is survived by 10 children, SusAnna Cook of Johnston City, Robert Bond of Wonder Lake, Frank Sciluffo and wife Pat of Wonder Lake, Joseph Sciluffo of Crystal Lake, Barb Streit and husband Wes of Lake in the Hills, Kathy Corzine and husband Fred of Marion, Santo Sciluffo Jr. of Johnston City, Keven Sciluffo of Johnston City, Dominick Sciluffo and wife Rachel of Elgin, Gina Patchett and husband Alex of Marion, 18 grandchildren, AnnaMarie and Nicole Cook, Heather Bond, Robert Bond Jr., Frank Sciluffo Jr., Christopher, Willie, and Tommy Sciluffo, Jolene, Bobby Joe, and Wes Streit, John, Jennifer, Anthony, Nick, and Tiffany Corzine, McKenzie Patchett, Reno Sciluffo, one brother, Sam Sciluffo of Florida; and one sister, Connie Calderone of California. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Paul and Charles, and two sisters, Angie and JoAnn.
