Imogene Dabbs
PULASKI -- Imogene Dabbs, 71, of Pulaski, formerly of Mill Creek, died at 7:45 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 26, 2002, at the Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Mo. She was born Sept. 9, 1931, in Portageville, Mo., the daughter of Art and Effie McCann Noland. She married Grady Dabbs. Mrs. Dabbs was a homemaker. Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons, Jerry Dale Dabbs of Mill Creek and Randy Dabbs of McClure; six daughters, Linda Turner of Tamms, Patricia Coleson, Janet Dabbs and Sherry Newell, all of Mill Creek, Cathy Klasner of Anna and Lisa McClellan of Pulaski; 25 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two brothers, A. V. Noland of Rockford and Frankie Noland of South Carolina; one sister, Wilma Parsons of Rockford and half-sisters Linda Kay and Novella; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Carolyn Ray Dabbs; one grandson; one great-grandson; one brother; and two sisters. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, at the Crain Funeral Home in Ullin. Interment will be at St. John's Cemetery in Dongola. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today, Friday, at the funeral home.

WALSH -- Thelma Ann Stork, 67, died Monday, Dec. 23, 2002, at Gulf Coast Hospital in Fort Myers, Fla. Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Sparta. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 8 to 8:45 a.m. Saturday at the Welge-Pechacek Funeral Home in Evansville. A prayer service will be at 5 p.m. today. Interment will be in St. Pius Catholic Cemetery in Walsh. Memorials may be made to Masses or to Family Choice.

WEST FRANKFORT -- Hazel M. Chance, 91, of Carriere, Miss., formerly of West Frankfort, died Saturday, Dec. 21, 2002, at Crosby Memorial Hospital in Picayune, Miss. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Parker-Reedy Funeral Home in West Frankfort, with the Rev. Joe Zbinden officiating. Interment will be at the Tower Heights Cemetery in West Frankfort. Visitation is after noon Saturday at the funeral home.

Clyde D. Hickam
HURST -- Mr. Clyde D. Hickam, 80, died at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2002, at Herrin HospitaL. He was born Feb. 6, 1922, in Pomona, to Grover C. and Effie Hoover Hickam. He married Georgia Mae Williams on Sept. 14, 1941, in Cape Girardeau, Mo. He was a retired furnace operator at New Athens Auto Crat. He was a member of the Colp United Pentecostal Church. Survivors include his wife of Hurst; two daughters and one son-in-law, Doris Illig of Hurst and Judy and Joe Alvey of Ola, Ark; one son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Katherine Hickam of Percy; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two sisters, Lena Carter and Imogene Franklin of Murphysboro; and two brothers, Clifford Hickam of Cobden and Wilbur Hickam of Murphysboro. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers; two sisters; one great-granddaughter; and one son-in-laW. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, at the Walker Funeral Home in HurSt. Burial will be in Alto Pass Cemetery. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. today, Friday, Dec. 27, at the funeral home.

Emma Ophelia Holmes
SPARTA -- Emma Ophelia Holmes, 90, of Springfield, formerly of Sparta, died Sunday, Dec. 22, 2002, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield. She was born Jan. 2, 1912, near Sparta, the daughter of Richard Lewis and Emma James Penny. She married Gilbert Holmes in 1934. He died in 1992. Mrs. Holmes attended Sparta Schools and earned a bachelor's degree from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. She taught fifth and sixth grades and, later, music for many years in Sparta's public schools, including Vernon, Lincoln and Sparta Township High SchooL. Survivors include two sons, Gilbert (wife Karen) of Indianapolis and John of Carbondale; one daughter, Beverly of Springfield; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and may nieces, nephews, cousins, former students and friends. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, at the First Freewill Baptist Church. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the hour of services Saturday at the church. McDaniel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
