WEST FRANKFORT -- Richard Poole, 76, died at 11:55 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2002, in Good Samaritan in Mount Vernon. Arrangements are pending at the Union Funeral Home.

Michael Goodermote
HERRIN -- Michael Goodermote, 49, died at 2:20 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2002, at home. Arrangements are incomplete at Johnston Hughes Funeral Home.

Cody Allen Ring
WOLF LAKE -- Cody Allen Ring, 14, of Wolf Lake, died at 4:15 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2004, in St. Louis Children's Hospital in St. Louis. He was born on Sept. 5, 1990, in Cape Girardeau, the son of Ricky and Sharon (Marquis) Ring. He is survived by his parents, Ricky and Sharon Ring of Wolf Lake; one brother, Richard Brian Ring of Wolf Lake; his paternal grandparents, Richard and Joyce Ring, also of Wolf Lake; and his paternal great-grandmother, Ruby Hutchison of Anna. Cody was a special boy to Uncle Bobby and Aunt Dee Henson of Grand Tower; other aunts and uncles, Earl and Deena Ring of Jackson, Mo., Rose Prater of McClure, and Pam Marr of Ware; several cousins, Ashley and Jason Woodard, Amy and Ryker Theis, Tim and Travis Simmons, Braden Fritsche, and Jacob and Jacey Woodard; other relatives; and many special friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Amel and Margaret Marquis. Cody professed his faith in Jesus and was baptized at Wolf Lake Methodist Church. He attended Shawnee Junior High School and was a member of the baseball team, Beta Club and junior high school band. Cody was an honorary member of the River to River Corvette Club and loved to hunt and fish. Services for Cody Allen Ring will be held at 10 a.m. today in Shawnee High School gymnasium, with the Rev. Robert Deuel and Pastor Peggy Camp officiating. Interment will be in the Jonesboro Cemetery. Friends called from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Shawnee High School. Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Shawnee High School Athletic Fund or Wolf Lake Methodist Church. Envelopes will be available at the high school.

Dante B. Caliper
HERRIN -- Dante B. Caliper, 88, of Herrin, died at 12:50 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2004, in Grange Nursing Home in Mascoutah. Mr. Caliper was born on Feb. 16, 1916, in Herrin, to Frank and Catherine (Sheehan) Caliper. He married Rena K. Berrolatti on Jan. 1, 1941, in Ina. She preceded him in death on Dec. 30, 2003. Dante was a retired pipe fitter for Local No. 160, where he was also a member. He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Herrin, as well as a past Elks and Knights of Columbus member. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Rhuann Caliper of Mascoutah; two grandchildren, Rhuann Natae Caliper-Medico and husband, Alex of St. Louis, and Jared B. Caliper of Mascoutah; two nephews and their spouses, Tom and Debbie Caliper of Marion and Louis and Ruth Berrolatti of Robinson; and three nieces and their spouses, Rosalie and Leonard Locey of Naperville, Marsha and Jim Calcaterra of Washington, Mich., and Francis and Tom Tregoning of Carterville. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Rena K. Caliper; two brothers, Frank and Joe Caliper; and two sisters, Teresa Macri and Mary Gentile Lawrence. Services will be at 11 a.m. today in Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin, with Monsignor Ken Schaefer officiating. Burial will be in San Carlo Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the OLMC/Renovation Fund or Alzheimer's Association and will be received at the funeral home.

CHESTER -- Pearl H. Barger, 94, died Thursday, Dec. 9, 2004, in St. Ann's Healthcare Center in Chester. Arrangements are pending at Welge-Pechacek Funeral Home in Chester.

Ida Caroline Dettmer
MARION -- Ida Caroline Dettmer, 93, passed away at 3:35 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2004, in Parkway Manor Nursing Home. Ida was born on Dec. 20, 1910, to Henry and Louise (Wickert) Dettmer in Marion. Ida was employed as a secretary for Alcoa, Inc., in Chicago. After her retirement from Alcoa in 1973, she returned to Marion to reside with her sister. Prior to Ida's blindness, her hobbies were reading, quilting and crafts. She was a member of the Marion Arts and Crafts Club. She was a member of the Zion United Church of Christ in Marion. Ida is survived by her sister, Matilda Dettmer, and five nieces and their spouses, Helen and Joe D. Linck, Luetta and Donald Broeking, Sharon and B. J. Simmons, and Satoe and Charlene Dahmer. Several great-nieces and great-nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Emma Dahmer; two brothers, August and William Dettmer; one niece, Rozetta DeRossett; and two nephews, Billy and Leon Dahmer. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 11, 2004, in Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion, with the Rev. Ken Kramer officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to the Zion United Church of Christ in Marion or to Hospice of Southern Illinois. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Mary E. Hickman
DOWELL -- Mary E. Hickman, 87, of Dowell, passed away at 11:50 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2004, at home. Mary was a homemaker. She was a member of the Dowell Baptist Church. She was born on April 3, 1917, in Jonesboro, the daughter of Luther and Ada (Schneider) Edmondson. She married Roy Hickman on Oct. 11, 1935, in Dowell, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 15, 1982. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Mary A. Hickman of Du Quoin; one daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Thomas Cleland of Woodridge, five grandchildren, Mike and Chuck Hickman, Diane Hamlin, Scott Cleland, and Victoria Klimek; and four great-grandchildren, Bo Hamlin, Timothy Hickman, and Rickey and Riley Klimek. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one sister, Margaret Fisher; and one brother, Harold Edmondson. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 11, 2004, in Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin, with the Rev. Gary Pate officiating. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Searby Funeral Home. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park in Du Quoin. Friends may make memorials to the Dowell Baptist Church, and memorials will be accepted at the funeral home.

Kailey Nichole Jackson
JONESBORO -- Kailey Nichole Jackson, four-day-old daughter of Steven and Tia (Hale) Jackson, died at 11:22 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2004, in the St. Louis Children's Hospital. Kailey was born on Dec. 3, 2004, in Marion. She is survived by her parents, Steven and Tia Jackson of Jonesboro; one brother, Trenton Jackson of Jonesboro; her maternal grandparents, Renee and Gary Knight and Rick and Lisa Pulver, all of Anna, and Joe Hale of Xenia; her paternal grandparents, Charles and Stella Jackson of Cobden; six uncles, Ryan and Wyatt Pulver, both of Anna, Timmy, Brian and Jeff Jackson, all of Cobden, and Charlie Jackson of New Grand Chain; and five aunts, Alexis Pulver and Natalie Knight, both of Anna, and Sara Jackson, Penny Alsip and Jenny Evans, all of Cobden. She was preceded in death by her cousin, Christopher Alsip, and her great-grandparents. Service will be at 10:30 a.m. today in Ebenezer Hall Cemetery, with the Rev. Roger Glasco officiating. Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday at Crain Funeral Home in Anna.

Deloise Tyler
PULASKI -- Deloise E. Chaney Tyler, 64, of Las Vegas, formerly of Pulaski, died Dec. 3, 2004, at home. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Grace Christian Fellowship Church in Mounds, with Pastors Lloyd Jordan and Ron Webb officiating. Burial will follow in Spencer Heights Memorial Park in Mounds. Visitation will be from 12 to 1 p.m. Saturday at the church. Massie Funeral Home in Cairo is in charge of arrangements.

DU QUOIN -- Geneva 'Gene' Parker, 90, died at 2:50 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 9, 2004, in Fairview Nursing Center in Du Quoin. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin, with the Rev. Shaw DeMent officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park in Du Quoin. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Imogene Futch
CARRIER MILLS -- Imogene Futch, 84, died at 3:12 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 9, 2004, in Carrier Mills Nursing Home. Services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home in Carrier Mills. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery in Carrier Mills. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Salem Cemetery Association. PERCY -- Robert H. Middendorf, 58, died at 11:08 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2004, in St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Belleville. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Wilson's Funeral Home in Steeleville, with Brother Billy Pendergrass officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today and from 7:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
