Lydia Crecelius
METROPOLIS -- Lydia Jewell Crecelius, 78, of Metropolis, formerly of Olmsted, died at 11:05 a.m. Thursday, April 10, 2003, in Good Samaritan Care Center. Mrs. Crecelius was a housewife and homemaker. She was a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church near Villa Ridge and was a Sunday school teacher for 40 years. Mrs. Crecelius was born Aug. 15, 1924, in Harrisburg, the daughter of the late Oliver Clinton Osborn and Mahalia Emaline (Baker) Osborn. She married Raymond G. Crecelius on Aug. 10, 1942. He preceded her in death on April 27, 1995. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Raymond G. (Butch) Crecelius and Shirley Crecelius of Metropolis; sister-in-law, Norma Shelton and husband, Denver Shelton of Olmstead; two grandsons, Michael Crecelius of Villa Ridge and Timothy Crecelius of Olmsted; two step grandchildren, Billy Joe Neihoff and Patricia Hughes, both of Metropolis; two great-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; three step great-great grandchildren; and two nieces, Kim Gottschall of Anna and Vicky Stevens of Salem. Services for Lydia Jewell Crecelius will be at 2 p.m. today in Shiloh Baptist Church near Villa Ridge, with the Rev. Larry Miller officiating. Interment will be in Concord Cemetery in rural west of Olmsted. Friends may visit from 5 to 8 p.m. today in Jones Funeral Home in Villa Ridge and from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at Shiloh Baptist Church. Jones Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

HARRISBURG -- Lillian "Lil" Brantley, 85, died at 1:30 p.m. Friday, April 11, 2003, in Harrisburg Care Center. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Gaskins Funeral Home in Harrisburg, with the Rev. Greg Hughes officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Josephine Smith
WALSH -- Josephine M. Smith, 61, died at 6:47 a.m. Thursday, April 10, 2003, in Sparta Community Hospital. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Pius Catholic Church with Father Jack Joyce officiating. Burial will be in St. Pius Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Sunday and from 7:30 a.m. until time of service in St. Pius Catholic Church.
Daniel Rosenow
HERRIN -- Daniel Rosenow, 62, died at 4:25 p.m. Thursday, April 10, 2003, in VA Medical Center in Marion. He was born Aug. 24, 1940, in Kewanee, to William Waught and Katherine (Henchard) RosenoW. He married Viola Sue Bean on Dec. 13, 1961, in West Frankfort. She survives. He was a coal miner at Old Ben Coal 17 in West Frankfort and worked at Phillips Dodge in DuQuoin for 10 years. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy and a member of the West Monroe Street Apostolic Church in Herrin. He enjoyed gardening and reading. He also enjoyed taking care of his squirrel that he fed outside his home everyday. Survivors include his mother, Katherine Rosenow of Kewanee; his wife, Viola Sue Rosenow of Herrin; son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Penny Rosenow Jr. of Anniston, Ala. ; son, Aurthur Rosenow of Herrin; son, Franklin Rosenow of Herrin; daughter and son-in-law, Tammy J. and DeWayne Orendoff of Herrin; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; sister, Katherine Forquer of Herrin; sister and brother-in-law, Martha and Gene Richards of Kewanee; brothers and sisters-in-law, Fred and wife Florence Rosenow of Ocala, Fla. and David and wife Katy Lou Rosenow of Rockford; and several nieces and nephews. His father; one son, Alexander Bernard Rosenow; one brother, Franklin Rosenow preceded him in death. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 13, 2003, in Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin, with the Rev. Terry Griffith officiating. Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. The body will be cremated after the service for private interment. Memorials may be made to the Rosenow family.

Beryl Fisher
CARBONDNALE -- Beryl M. Fisher, 92, of Carbondale, formerly of Murphysboro, died at 6:30 p.m. Monday, April 7, 2003, in Oak Grove Rehab and Care Center. Mrs. Fisher was born June 19, 1910, in Gorham, the daughter of Walter Lon and Marietta Davis. She married George Fisher on July 31, 1931. He preceded her in death in Dec. 1994. She was one of the original staff nurses of Doctors Hospital, which was later renamed Memorial Hospital of Carbondale. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Murphysboro. Survivors include a daughter, Wilma Davis of Carbondale; a son and daughter-in-law, James W. and Pat Fisher of Jacksonville, Fla. ; eight grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Margaina Gale of Murphysboro; and a brother-in-law, Carl Fisher of California. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and two brothers. Private services will be at 1 p.m. today in Murdale Gardens of Memory, with the Rev. John Annable officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at Crain Funeral Home Pleasant Grove Chapel. Memorial contributions are suggested for Carbondale Senior Citizens Center, 409 N. Springer, Carbondale, IL 62901.
