ENERGY -- Bonnie "Lucille" Campbell, 79, died Monday, April 7, 2003, in Herrin Hospital. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Van Natta Funeral Home, with the Rev. Kenny Blumenstock officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Mrs. Campbell was a homemaker. She was born January 18, 1924, in Herrin to Earl and Ruth Albright. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Thomas Olenick of Las Vegas, Nev. ; one sister, Marylou Albright of Treasure Island, Fla. ; a grandson, Michael Tomlinson of Las Vegas; a granddaughter and her husband, Julie and Warren Weaver of Wisconsin; two nephews, Brian and Jamie Albright of Carterville and Dean and Rachel Albright of Energy; a niece, Dana and Andrew Calcaterra of Herrin; and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John Campbell, one sister, Wilma VanEwyk, and three brothers, Earl Albright Jr., Donald Albright and Jerry Dean Albright.

DU QUOIN -- Louise Cook, 82, passed away at 7:50 p.m. Monday, April 7, 2003, in Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin, with the Rev. Bob Dickerson officiating. Burial will be in the Old Du Quoin Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Hospital.
Rodney Springer
PINCKNEYVILLE -- Rodney Roy Springer, 42, of Pinckneyville, formerly of Winchester, died at 4:10 a.m. Wednesday, April 9, 2003, at home. Roger was born in Jacksonville, on April 10, 1960, the son of Sheila (Snow) Springer. He married Cathy Renee Suttles on Oct. 13, 1983, and she survives. He was employed at Technicolor Universal Media, Pinckneyville, as replication supervisor. He received the 2002 Employee of the Year award. Rodney was a member of Holt's Prairie Baptist Church. Survivors include his mother, Sheila Springer of Winchester; his wife, Cathy of Pinckneyville; two sons, Joseph and Phillip, both of Pinckneyville, and many loving and caring friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Roy and Rachel SnoW. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Holt's Prairie Baptist Church. A funeral will be at 8 p.m. today at the church, with the Rev. Collin Hirsch officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at Coonrod Funeral Home in Winchester, and from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Winchester. A funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. at the church. The Rev. Collin Hirsch will officiate with prayer by Rev. Gene Parker. Burial will be in Winchester City Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Holt's Prairie Baptist Church or the Phillip Springer Educational Fund. Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home in Pinckneyville is in charge of arrangements.

AVA -- Burt L. "Jack" Jones, 79, died at 2:35 a.m. Wednesday, April 9, 2003, at home. Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Wilson's Funeral Home in Ava, with the Rev. Nathan Hagen officiating. Burial will be in Lone Oak Cemetery. Visitation will be after 5 p.m. today and from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Lone Oak Cemetery. Mr. Jones was a retired carpenter. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Christian Church in Murphysboro, Carpenter Union Local # 638 in Marion and UMWA Local # 2117 in West Frankfort. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was born October 12, 1923, in Ava to William E. and Rachel (Gollon) Jones. He married Margaret L. Doetch on Feb. 6, 1948 in St. Louis. She survives. Other survivors include three sons and daughter-in-laws, Larry and Vernea Jones of Ava, Carl and Lynn Jones of Ava and Steve and Cheryal Jones of Thompsonville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and John Carpenter of Murphysboro and Jean and Carl Clinton of Ava; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one brother, Kent Jones of Livingston; and one sister, Willa Mae Graff of Carbondale. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one sister, and one granddaughter, Amie Jones.

Mary Waldron
CAMBRIA -- Mary Ann Waldron, 67 of Cambria, died 4:10 p.m. Monday, April 7, 2003, at her daughter's home in Carterville. Mrs. Waldron retired Maytag Industries as a Data Processing Operator. She was born Oct. 15, 1935, in Bush to Joseph and Retha (Childress) Housewright. She was united in marriage with Donald E. "Bow Wow" Waldron on Sept. 5, 1964, in Marion. He died Nov. 20, 2002. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Donna R. and David M. Homoya of Carterville; two grandchildren, Jennifer and Dylan Homoya ofCarterville; sister and brother-in-law, Millie and Audie Calvert of Kentland, Ind. ; brother, Raymond Housewright of Herrin; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by husband and parents. Services will be at 7 p.m. today, April 10, 2003, at Meredith-Waddell Funeral Home in Herrin. The Rev. Robert Chitwood will officiate. Committal services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Blairsville Cemetery in Blairsville. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. The family prefers that memorials be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois.

WEST FRANKFORT -- Freda (Hayes) Gibbs, age 74, died at 6:50 a.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2003, at the home of her daughter, Tammie Green . She was born June 13, 1928, in Freeman Spur to Ferman and Stella (Hall) Samples. Survivors include three daughters and their husbands, Linda Holmes of Warrenville, Carol and James Isom of Sparta and Tammie and Terry Green of West Frankfort; one son and his wife, Clyde and Nancy Hayes of Vandalia, Mich. ; eight grandchildren, Scott and Erika Holmes, Kathleen, Melissa and Lauren Hayes, Frankie Harriss, Neil McCord and Lindsey Green ; a great-grandson, Alec Harriss; one brother, Earl Samples of Zeigler; and a sister, Beverly Yarbrough of Zeigler. She was preceded in death by her parents, and seven brothers and sisters. She was a member of the Freewill Unity Baptist Church on South Monroe St. in West Frankfort. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Parker-Reedy Funeral Home in West Frankfort, with Pastor Randall Carney officiating. Burial will be in the Zeigler City Cemetery. Friends may call after 6 p.m. on today at the Parker-Reedy Funeral Home in West Frankfort.

HERRIN -- Ruby Lucille Null, 90, died Tuesday, April 8, 2003, in Herrin Hospital. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Herrin City Cemetery, with the Rev. Alan D. Milligan officiating. She was born Feb. 3, 1913, in Makanda to Charles and Stella (Hudson) Watson. She married Leonard C. Null on July 25, 1933, in Jackson, Mo. He preceded her in death. Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Donald Null of Johnston City and Larry and Marilyn Null of Herrin; two grandsons and their wives, Keith and Amy Null of O'Fallon and Kirk and Leslie Null of Normal; and two great-grandsons, Caleb and Jacob Null of Normal. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one sister, Edith. Van Natta Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
