Monie Rea
BENTON -- Monie L. Rea, 80, of Benton, died at 10:41 p.m. Saturday, June 21, 2003, at Herrin Hospital. She was born in Saline County on Sept. 8, 1922, the daughter of Eddie and Alice (Kelley) Wiggins. She married William Howard Rea on Oct. 11, 1941, in Charleston, Mo. He preceded her in death on May 13, 1997. Mrs. Rea was a meat wrapper for 30 years at local Kroger, IGA and several other area stores. Mrs. Rea was a member of the East Benton Baptist Church, where she served as Secretary-Treasurer for many years. She was also the director of the WMU and had served as Sunday School Teacher and held various other offices in the church. She enjoyed quilting, reading, embroidery work and collecting old coins. She dearly loved her family and kept scrapbooks on their activities to give to each of them. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Eubanks and Wendell and Linda Burlison and Audie, all of Benton; three granddaughters, Tammy Rea and fiance Garry Johnson of Thompsonville, Amy Morris and husband Brian of Benton and Cindy Buntin and husband Sam of Kennard, Neb. ; one grandson, Curtis Eubanks and wife Tina of Benton; great-grandchildren, Branden Eubanks, Noah Summers, Deacon Morris, Preston Morris and Kira Marie Buntin; one step great-granddaughter, Jessica LaCourse and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Rea was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one grandson, Brian Eubanks; two infant sisters and one sister, Coy Browning. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 24, 2003, in Morton and Johnston Funeral Home in Benton, with the Rev. Carroll Toler officiating. Burial will be in the Masonic and Oddfellows Cemetery in Benton. Friends may visit from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Morton and Johnston Funeral Home in Benton. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mrs. Rea's name to the East Benton Baptist Church.
James Livesay Jr.
ANNA -- James W. Livesay Jr., 76, died at 8:25 p.m. Saturday, June 21, 2003, in Veterans Administration Medical Center in Marion. He was born Aug. 13, 1926, in Grand Tower, the son of James W. and Nora (Davis) Livesay. He married Norma June Treece on Sept. 22, 1951, in Pocahontas, Ark. She preceded him in death on July 10, 1993. Survivors include two sons, Jim Livesay and wife Kathy J. of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Tracy Dean Livesay of Anna; one daughter, Angela Faith and husband Bobbie Bracken of Jonesboro; one brother, Eddie Dale Livesay of St. Louis; one sister, Mildred Beasley of Tamms; three grandchildren, Christopher Dean Livesay, Sarah Elizabeth Livesay and Jacob Dale Livesay; three step grandchildren, Amy Glabb, Kimberly Bracken and MacKenzie Bracken; three step great-grandchildren and other relatives. Brother, Donald Dean Livesay, preceded him in death. He was a retired Flight Line Crew Chief with the USAF and a life member of the Anna American Legion Post 344. He was a Master Sergeant. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 25, 2003, at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna, with the Rev. David Eidson officiating. Interment will be in Anna Cemetery, with full military rites conducted by Scott Air Force Base. Friends may visit from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna is in charge of arrangements.
Claude Hale
HARRISBURG -- Claude Elmer Hale, 71, died at 10:21 a.m. Saturday, June 21, 2003, in the VA Medical Center in Marion. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg, with the Rev. Arthur Austin Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Colbert Cemetery in Herod. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
H. Micki Spindloe
CARTERVILLE -- H. Micki Spindloe, 72, of Carterville, died at 3:37 a.m. Thursday, June 19, 2003, at her daughter's residence, where she had been recovering from a recent injury. Micki was born in Carbondale on Feb. 14, 1931, to Earl and Hazel (Roberts) Cook. She enjoyed reading crocheting, genealogy and spending time with her family. Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Rosetta and Robert Casey of Lithia, Fla., Nanusha and Fred Schoonover of Herrin and Deborah and Steven McNeill of Wilmington; one son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Alice Sterns of Murphysboro; 10 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Karen Cook of Carbondale; sisters, Judi Turner of Murphysboro and Ethel Matheny of Upland, CaliF. and several nieces and nephews. On Sunday, June 22, 2003, Micki's family gathered at Evergreen Park in Carbondale to celebrate her life. She left behind many memories and will truly be missed. Lona Hoppe
HARRISBURG -- Lona V. Hoppe, 88, of Harrisburg, formerly of Nashville, departed this life at 4:05 p.m. Saturday, June 21, 2003, in Saline Care Center in HarrisburG. Mrs. Hoppe was born in Williamson County on June 27, 1914, the daughter of William A. and Bessie E. (Walker) Spiller. She was united in marriage to Connie Edwards. He preceded her in death in February 1944. She was later united in marriage to Elmer W. Hoppe on Sept. 24, 1951, in Pinckneyville. He preceded her in death on Jan. 29, 1991. Lona was a homemaker and was a member of First Baptist Church of Nashville. Survivors include a sister, Mildred Edwards of Carterville; two brothers, Sherman Spiller and wife Darlene of Hurst and Thomas Spiller of Johnston City; nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Connie Edwards; second husband, Elmer Hoppe; four brothers and two sisters. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. today in Hillcrest Cemetery in Carterville, with the Rev. Charles L. Epperly officiating. Those wishing to attend the services are to go directly to the cemetery. There will be no public visitation. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice and will be received by Campagna Funeral Home of Nashville.
Wanda Henderson
MARION -- Wanda Henderson, 87, of Marion, died at 1:45 p.m. Saturday, June 21, 2003, in Fountain Nursing Home in Marion. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 24, 2003, at Blue Funeral Home in Marion, with the Rev. Jerry Schell officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery in HarrisburG. Visitation will be from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Henderson was born April 22, 1910, in Harrisburg, to Claud and Hetty (Sisk) Rude. She married W. C. Henderson on May 3, 1948. He preceded her in death on April 18, 1974. Survivors include sister, Wilma Ray of Joliet; brother, Roland and wife Blanch Rude of Belthalto; five nieces; several great nieces and nephews; four great-great nieces and nephews and two great great great nieces and nephews. Mrs. Henderson was a homemaker and a member of the Baptist faith.
Steven Taylor
MARION -- Steven Gregory Taylor, 36, of Raleigh, N. C., formerly of Marion, died at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday in Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Green ville, N. C. Steven was born Aug. 7, 1966, in Marion to Wanda (Taylor) Williford. She survives. Steven was a computer programmer. He was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include his mother, Wanda Williford of Herrin; two half brothers, Billy Williford and Christopher Williford, both of Herrin; aunts and uncles, Gene and Louis Taylor of Salem, S. D. and Bill and Jackie Taylor of Spillertown. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 24, 2003, in Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home, with the Rev. Shorty Alsip officiating. Burial will follow at White Ash Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today.

BUNCOMBE -- Gerald W. "Jerry" Walker, 61, died at 3:40 a.m. Saturday, June 21, 2003, in John Cochran VA Medical Center in St. Louis. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna, with the Rev. Jerry Huckleberry officiating. Burial will be in Busby Chapel Cemetery, near Goreville. CARTERVILLE -- Jean Louise Taylor, 85, of Carterville, died Saturday, June 21, 2003, in her home in Carterville. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Grand Avenue Baptist Church in Carterville, with the Revs Mike Ebersohl and Richard Reed officiating. Burial will be in Willowcrest Cemetery in Carterville. SHAWNEETOWN -- Evadeen Coleman, 92, died at 1:45 p.m. Saturday, June 21, 2003, in Fountain View Nursing Home in Eldorado. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Mary's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Mark Stec officiating. Burial will be in Immaculate Conception Cemetery. HARRISBURG -- Curtis LeRoy Vick, 59, died at 12:10 p.m. Saturday, June 21, 2003, in Harrisburg Medical Center. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Lindale Cemetery, with the Rev. Ownly Williams and the Rev. Herb Buche officiating. Full military honors will be performed by VFW Saline Post 3479 and American Legion George Hart Post 167. There will be no visitation.
