MURPHYSBORO -- Hallie Ayuanna Elaine and Ellianna Linette Fred, infant twin daughters of Travis and Kasey Bost Fred of Murphysboro, died Saturday, July 26, 2003, in St. Mary's Health Center in St. Louis. Private graveside services will be in De Soto City Cemetery, with the Rev. Ron Bracy officiating. Memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2001 S. Lindbergh Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63131. Survivors include their parents; one brother, Spencer Fred of Murphysboro; grandparents, Mike and Tracy Bost of Murphysboro, Norman Fred Jr. of DeSoto, Zandra Fred of Murphysboro; great-grandparents, Gene and Peggy Bost of Murphysboro, Norman and Levieta Fred of De Soto, Geraldine Reiman of Murphysboro, and Delmar and Pattie Stanton of Murphysboro; great-great-grandfather, Wiley J. Bost of Murphysboro; a great-great-grandmother, Opal Higginbotham of De Soto; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, great-aunts and great-uncles.

HARRISBURG -- Nina Lee Hunsinger Gullett, 79, died at 8:34 a.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2003, in Harrisburg Medical Center. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Spring Valley Cemetery in Harrisburg, with the Rev. Dick Bosecker officiating. There will be no visitation. The body was cremated. Villa Bernice Armour
JONESBORO -- Villa Bernice Armour, 91, of Alton, formerly of Jonesboro, passed away Tuesday, July 29, 2003, in St. Anthoney Medical Center in Alton. She was born Nov. 6, 1911, in Alto Pass, the daughter of James C. and Rose Etta Stone Smith. She married Fred L. Armour in 1928 in Cobden. She was a homemaker living most of her life in Southern Illinois. She loved and was very proficient at quilting. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Freddie and Faye Armour of Joliet and Everett and Loris Armour of Fond Du Lac, Wis. ; four daughters and son-in-law, Francis and Wayne Hileman of Alton, Beverly Joyce George of Godfrey, Peggy Orzel of Alton, and Judy Lamb of Poplar Bluff, Mo. ; a daughter-in-law, Joyce George of Renick, W. Va. ; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Norma Jean Wilson of Dongola and Audrey Smith of Anna. She was preceded in death by a daughter and son-in-law, Frieda and Earl Hileman, and a son, Kenneth Armour. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, August 1, 2003, in the chapel of Hileman Funeral Home, with the Rev. Carl Land officiating. Burial will be in Jonesboro Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and until 11 a.m. Friday in the funeral home. Hileman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

MURPHYSBORO -- Roy W. Nimmo, 44, passed away at 12:15 a.m. Tuesday, July 29, 2003, in St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Murphysboro. There will be no services and his body was cremated. Pettett Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. He was born May 30, 1959, in Murphysboro, to Edward LaVern and Rosemary Clover Nimmo. Roy had previously worked as a carpenter. He married Edna Dawson on Dec. 31, 1976, in Ava. Besides his wife of Murphysboro and his mother, who lives in Christopher, he is survived by two children, Amanda Yankey of Willisville and Roy W. Nimmo of Murphysboro; one granddaughter, Katherine B. Yankey of Willisville; one sister, Kathy Miller of Christopher; three brothers, Skipper Nimmo of Crystal Creek, Nev., Bob Nimmo of Christopher, and Mark Nimmo of DeSoto. He was preceded in death by his father.

Bill Bailey Joseph
CARTERVILLE -- Bill Bailey Joseph, 70, passed away suddenly at 3:57 p.m., Saturday, July 26, 2003 at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 31, 2003, in Meredith Funeral Home in Carbon- dale, with the Revs. John Annable and Kristen Madison officiating. Entombment will be in Pleasant Grove Memorial Park in Murphysboro. Friends may call from 5 until 8 p.m., today, July 30, 2003, at the funeral home, with Masonic rites at 7:30 p.m. Bill was born Feb. 28, 1933, in Cape Girardeau to Roland Carr and Hazel Irene (Bailey) Joseph. He married Phyllis Knight on June 26, 1955, in Carbondale. Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Phyllis Joseph of Carterville; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Bradford W. and Terri Joseph of Jacksonville, Fla., and Capt. Bruce W. and Debbi Joseph of Carbondale; two granddaughters, Jennifer Marie and Kara Nichole Joseph, both of Jacksonville, Fla. ; one brother and sister-in-law, Kent and Sharon Joseph, a niece, Jane, and a nephew, John Joseph, all of Scottsdale, Ariz. ; his mother-in-law, Dorothy Knight of Carbondale; and many loving aunts, uncles and cousins. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, R. C. and Hazel Joseph; his father-in-law, Ira Dennie Knight; and brother-in-law, Warner Knight all of Carbondale. Bill was a life-long Methodist and a loyal member of the First United Methodist Church in Carbondale. He was very active at church where he served as head usher and was a member of various committees, including the Board of Trustees. Bill was a Master Mason of the Shekinah Masonic Lodge 241 of Carbondale, where he served as secretary for several years. He loved to gather sponsors for the Gospel Sing held each December. In the summer of 2002 he was invited and traveled to the Frankfurt, Germany, Masonic Lodge as a U. S. Representative for its 50th anniversary celebration. Throughout the 1980s, Bill was active in umpiring softball and baseball at both the state and local levels. Bill was dedicated to the American Red Cross having been a faithful blood donor for many years and recently received a letter commending his achievement of donating over 10 gallons of blood. Growing up, he earned the level of Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America and attended the National Jamboree. Bill was a 1951 graduate of Carbondale Community High School, and developed life-long friendships with his classmates and a very special camaraderie with his football and baseball team members. He continued to enjoy those friendships though the socials of the class each week and each month. Bill earned his bachelor of science degree in business from Southern Illinois University in 1955 and in 1965 he returned to earn a masters degree in business. Bill's employment record proudly included the ICRR with over 10 years of service in the Traffic Department and the working as Sales Manager for Remington Rand in both Indianapolis, Ind., and St. Louis. Upon returning to Southern Illinois he worked as a salesman for Stile's Office Equipment, and later joined Spartan Printing Company where he retired in the late 1990's. Bill was truly a patriotic American who supported the U. S. Military and loved "Old Glory," his support of the Tom Hanks World War II Memorial was the catalyst for several names from Carbondale being placed on the memorial. His hobbies included researching genealogy and spending time with his family. He especially enjoyed watching his granddaughters play basketball and softball. Bill was a very giving person and loved talking to and helping people in any capacity he could. To that end, he was an organ donor as his final gift to mankind. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 214 W. Main, Carbondale, IL 62901, or Shekinah Lodge 241 of Carbondale, and will be accepted by the funeral home.
