PERCY -- Esther Schaudt, 83, died at 4:55 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2004, in Sparta Community Hospital. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 1, in St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Steeleville, with the Rev. Dr. Alan W. Janneke and the Rev. Elmer Schwartzkopf officiating. Burial will be in Lost Prairie Cemetery in Pinckneyville. Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Thursday and from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. Friday at Wilson's Funeral Home in Steelevillle and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin, with Dr. John Lewis officiating. Burial will be in the McElvain Cemetery in Du Quoin. METROPOLIS -- Ellen Schneeman, 89, died at 5:10 p.m. Monday, Sept. 27, 2004, in the Massac Memorial Hospital. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home, with the Rev. Homer Harner officiating. Burial will be in the Kuykendahl Cemetery in Massac County. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Thomas McPherson
WEST FRANKFORT -- Thomas E. McPherson, 83, of West Frankfort, died at 7:52 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004, in Parkview Nursing Home in West Frankfort. Services for Mr. McPherson will be held at 3 p.m. today at Denning Cemetery in Orient, with Brother Justin Miller officiating and military graveside rites accorded by the Orient American Legion Phillip Whiteside Post 1961. There will be no visitation or viewing. Family and friends are asked to gather at the cemetery. Vantrease Funeral Home in Zeigler is in charge of the arrangements. Thomas was born Sept. 15, 1921, in Weaver, to Frank and Ruth (Timmons) McPherson. He married Doris Ethel Koch in South Dakota in 1946. She preceded him in death. He married Dessie Lorene (Gossage) Sweet on March 4, 1972, in Plumfield. She preceded him in death on May 1, 2003. He is survived by three stepdaughters and their husbands, Sue and the late Larry Eastwood, Judy and Larry Gray, and Sharon and Lendell Karnes, all of Plumfield; two stepsons and their wives, James and Dorothy Sweet and Roy and Joyce Sweet, all of Plumfield; one brother, Robert McPherson of San Diego; one sister, Nevelene Crawford of Benton; 11 step-grandchildren; and 12 step-great-grandchildren. His parents, five brothers and two sisters preceded him in death. Thomas was a Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean conflict. He was awarded three Bronze Stars during his service to his country. He was a Protestant. He was the former owner/operator of a fishing resort in Big Stone City, S. D., before retiring and moving to Southern Illinois. Memorial contributions in memory of Mr. McPherson may be made to the Plumfield Christian Church. Rose Watson
OAKLAWN -- Rose Watson, 90, of Oak Lawn, died at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2004, at home. Services will be at noon Saturday in Brayfield-Gilbert Funeral Home in Sesser, with Father Steven Poole officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday in the funeral home. Rose was born on Sept. 3, 1914, in Sesser, to Martin and Anna Kokal Saiz. She married Raymond Watson, and he died June 19, 1961. Survivors include a brother, Stanley Saiz of Springfield and two sisters, Anna Dralser of New York and Josephine Moschino of Oak Lawn. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two brothers, Martin and Lawrence.
Saunders Williams
MURPHYSBORO -- Saunders Williams, 82, of Murphysboro, passed away at 7:19 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2004, at St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Murphysboro. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, 2004, at Pettett Funeral Home with burial in Pleasant Grove Memorial Park. Friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Saunders was born on Nov. 1, 1921, in Houma, Miss. to Joseph Williams and Sallie (Gearron) WIlliams. He married Ruby Wilson on Jan. 16, 1941, in Chicago, and she survives. Other survivors include three children, Saunders Williams Jr. and Corrine Williams, both of Murphysboro, and Bernell Joseph Williams of Chicago; 11 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren; one sister, Nettie Beamon of Indianapolis; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one grandson; one sister, Corrine Williams Elston; and two brothers Percy Williams and Welton Gearron.
Lawrence Dale Queen
DU QUOIN -- Lawrence Dale Queen, 81, of Du Quoin, passed away at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004, in the Jackson County Rehab and Care Center in Murphysboro. Dale had worked for 25 years as a sausage stuffer at the Du Quoin Packing Company. He was a member of the Old Du Quoin Baptist Church. He was a life member of the Du Quoin American Legion and VFW. He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II. He was born on Oct. 1, 1923, in Du Quoin, the son of Ira M. and Rebecca (Huggins) Queen. He married Fern Wrolen on May 11, 1946, in Du Quoin, and she survives. He is survived by his wife of Du Quoin; one son, Danny Queen of Du Quoin; one daughter, Sandy Arnold of Marion; four brothers, Fern Queen of Rhode Island, Ovid Queen of Columbia, Ira Queen Jr. of Percy, and Meril Queen of Tamaroa; one sister, Hilda Moss of Du Quoin; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Donald Dale Queen; and two brothers, Rod and Lester Queen. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, 2004, at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin, with Brother Mike Ebert officiating. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin. Interment will be in the IOOF Cemetery in Du Quoin. Military graveside rites will be conducted by Du Quoin VFW and American Legion. Friends may make memorials to the Jackson County Rehab and Care Center Activities Program and will be accepted at the funeral home.
