IRVINGTON -- Kathleen Croan, 55, died at 11:38 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004, at St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital. Arrangements are incomplete at Stynignger-Pacey Funeral Home in Centralia.

Aileen Fulford
CHESTER -- Aileen Fulford, 98, of Chester, passed away at midnight Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2004, in St. Ann's Healthcare Center in Chester. She was born to George Madison and Mary Ann (Burton) Telfrey on May 14, 1906, in Kensee, Ky. She married Allen Thompson Fulford on March 24, 1928, in Murphysboro. He preceded her in death on March 18, 1962. She was a nurse's aide at Herrin Hospital and the Cook County Hospital in Chicago. She was then employed at Gilster Mary-Lee Corporation until her retirement. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Ellis Grove. She is survived by four cousins, Mary Alice and husband Don Welge and Julia and husband Wib Saak, all of Chester, Betty and husband Bill Lohman of Peoria, and Jewell Radcliffe of Pekin. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and one brother, George Woodrow 'Dick' Telfrey. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Welge-Pechacek Funeral Home in Chester, with the Rev. Roger Reid officiating. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Carterville. Visitation will be from 8 to 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St. Ann's Healthcare Center Bird Sanctuary or to First Baptist Church in Ellis Grove.

Arma White
GOLCONDA -- Arma L. White passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2004, in the Shawnee Christian Nursing Home in Herrin. Arma was born May 5, 1920, in Golconda, where she was a lifelong resident. She was retired from the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services. Arma enjoyed her retirement traveling, playing golf and gardening, as well as with family. She was a member of the Golconda Historical Society, treasurer of the city cemetery and Neglected Cemeteries of Pope County, and a member of Rebecca Lodge and the Methodist Church. She is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Sue Ellen Jansco of Johnston City and Sandra and Bill Walker of Carbondale; one brother, Jack Bauer of Clearwater, Fla. ; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Alma Bauer; her husband, Jesse R. White; and her grandson, Jay Jansco. Visitation was Thursday at the Hosick Funeral Home-Rottmann Chapel in Golconda. Services will be at 1 p.m. today, followed by burial in the IOOF Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois.

Mildred Haake
HOYLETON -- Mildred L. Guetersloh Haake, 93, died at 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2004, in the Carlyle Health Care Center. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, in the Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoyleton, with the Rev. Mark Nebel officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Styninger Funeral Home in Nashville and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Memorials may be made to her church or to KFUO radio and will be received at the funeral home.

Jessie Andrews
SESSER -- Jessie S. Andrews, 73, went home to be with the Lord at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004, at home. Services will be at 12 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, in Davis Funeral Chapel in Sesser, with Brother Marvin Boswell officiating. Burial will be in Antioch Cemetery in Tamaroa. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the funeral chapel. Mr. Andrews retired from Caterpillar, Inc., after 34 years of service. He was a member of the Creek Nation Pentecostal Church. He was born on Sept. 17, 1931, in Pontotoc, Miss., to Jessie S. and Tennie L. (Tucker) Andrews. He had 51 years of marriage with Wanda J. (Cash) Andrews. Survivors include one son, Jessie S. Andrews of Lexington, Ill. ; three daughters, Martha E. Mumaw of Sandwich, Arlanna Y. Fries of Christopher and Cleta Renee Bishop of Bloomington; two sisters, Linda J. Voyles of Ecru, Miss., and Flossie M. Vaugh of Pontotoc, Miss. ; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Ann Hileman
MARION -- Ann Hileman, age 77, of Marion, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2004, in the Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah. She was born Oct. 9, 1926, in Tamms, the daughter of Daniel and Dollie (Foster ) Enright. She married Frank Hileman on Jan. 22, 1949, in Mill Creek. She worked as a registered nurse at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Marion for many years. She was a Catholic. Survivors include her husband, Frank; one son and daughter-in-law, Lynn and Georgia Hileman of Rogers, Texas; two grandchildren; three brother, Daniel Enright of Rockford, Donald Enright of Branson, Mo., and Robert Enright of Ullin; two sisters, Naoma Moore of Camp Verde, Ariz., and Edith Jones of Banning, Calif. ; and other relatives and friends. Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, in the chapel of Hileman Funeral Home. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Interment will be in the St. John's Cemetery near Dongola. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

Opal Easton
CHESTER -- Opal L. Easton, 68, died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2004, at Memorial Hospital in Belleville. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Schroeder-McClure Funeral Chapel in Chester, with the Rev. Cecil Dunning officiating. Burial will be in Ebenezer Cemetery in Rockwood. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from 7:30 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Presbyterian Church in Rockwood or Family Wishes.

Vernon LeRoy Moore
JOHNSON COUNTY -- Vernon LeRoy Moore, 60, of Johnson County and a former 20-year resident of Dixon, died at midnight Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004, in the home of his sister, Shirley Dalton, near Tunnel Hill. As per his request, there will be no public visitation or funeral services. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois, 1110 N. Johnson, Marion, IL 62959 or Heather Harper-Treat Memorial Cancer Fund, P. O. Box 98, Vienna, IL 62995. Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna is in charge of arrangements. Vernon was born on March 2, 1944, in New Burnside, the son of Roy Albert and Buelah Fay (Taylor) Moore. He was united in marriage to Mary E. Meadows on May 19, 1964, in Vienna, and she survives. Other survivors include four daughters, Mary Frances Luke and Donna Fay Whittington, both of Goreville, Valerie June Moore of Vienna and Debra Lynn Maier and husband, James of Rose Bud, Ark. ; seven grandchildren, Eric, Raymond, Mikey, Andrew, Jacob, Joshua and Nona; three brothers, Donald Eugene and Joan Moore of Dixon, Joe Benny and Linda Moore of Vienna and Cecil Moore of Tunnel Hill; a sister, Shirley and Bud Dalton of Tunnel Hill; special cousins, Jack and Anne Brown of Creal Springs; dear nieces and nephews, including Patty, Vickie and Billy. In addition to his parents, Vernon was preceded in death by three brothers, Lawrence Taylor, Roy Leon Moore and Jackie David Moore. Vernon was a certified Ford mechanic. He was also employed as a forklift operator by the Pepsi-Cola Bottling Plant in Marion. Vernon was a member of the North American Hunting Association. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing. He especially enjoyed the time he spent with his brothers and other family members while deer hunting. He was a NASCAR enthusiast and fan of Dale Earnhardt and Dale Earnhardt Jr. Vernon had recently come to the Lord through the Freedom Outreach Ministries and Pastor Steve Watkins.

Sharon Grogan
Ava -- Sharon 'Wayland' Grogan, 64, of McAllen, Texas, formerly of Ava, died Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2004, at home. Sharon was born on Sept. 21, 1940, in Ava, to Howard and Mae (Lee) Wayland. Survivors include her husband, Dean Grogan; son, Richard Davis; stepsons, Michael, Mark, and Jimmy Grogan; stepdaughters, Gloria Moddox of St. Jones, Mo. ; sister, Delories Steele of Woodlawn; brother, Cliff Lloyd-Homer Wayland of Date City, Fla. Interment was Oct. 1, 2004, in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis.

Syble Springer
CARRIER MILLS -- Syble Arnold Springer, 93, of Rocky Face, Ga., formerly of Carrier Mills, died at 3:20 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2004, in Georgia. Servoces will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, at Salem Cemetery in Carrier Mills. There will be no visitation. Those attending are asked to meet at the cemetery. Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home in Carrier Mills is in charge of arrangements.
