Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, in the Greater Gillespie Temple Church, with Bishop C. W. Gillespie officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Carbondale. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the church. Jackson Funeral Home of Carbondale is in charge of arrangements.

HARRISBURG -- Byford C. Gibbons, 87, of Alhambra, formerly of Harrisburg, died at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2004, in Hitz Memorial Home in Alhambra. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, 2004, in Dauderman Mortuary in Alhambra, with the Rev. Mitchell Sanderson officiating. Interment will be in Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the mortuary. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church or Hitz Memorial Home.

CARTERVILLE -- Bryan J. Beltz, 27, of East Peoria, died Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2004, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. Services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 4, 2004, at Riggin- Pillatsch Funeral Home in Carterville, with Monsignor Kenneth Schaefer officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Carterville. Friends may call after 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Bryan was born on July 9, 1977, in Peoria, to Gene and Debbie (McRoy) Beltz. He is survived by his parents, Gene and Debbie Beltz of Peoria; maternal grandparents, D. C. and Mary Ann McRoy of Herrin; two sisters, Kristy Beltz of Peoria and Wendy Beltz of Dunlap; one niece, Taylor Gardner of Dunlap. Bryan was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents. Memorial contributions can be made to OSF St. Francis Children's Hospital or to OSF Air Angels.
Cleta Hines
METROPOLIS -- Cleta Hines, 66, of Metropolis, passed away Thursday, Dec. 2, 2004, in Jonesboro Healthcare Center. She was born on Oct. 3, 1938, in Cobden, the daughter of Charles Edward Sr. and Leola Mae (Davis) Clubb. She married Milton Lee Hines in Metropolis, and he preceded her in death. She worked in various health care occupations, from aide to nursing home administrator. She was a member of the Congregational Holiness Church in Paducah. She was also a former Cub Scout leader and a member and officer of Parents without Partners, the AARP and RSVP volunteer. Survivors include three children and their spouses, Jackie Wayne and Lynn Newberry of Metropolis, Tina Marie and James Smock of Brookport, and Bobby Dean Jr. and Debbie Newberry of Jonesboro; four siblings and their spouses, Carl E. and Mary Lou Clubb and Johnny W. and Marilyn Clubb, all of Morris, Bonnie Baggott of Anna, and Donald F. Clubb of Carbondale; eight grandchildren and their spouses, Misty and Doug York, Jeremy, Amanda, Zachary and Hayden Newberry, Kelly and Michael Finlay, James Smock II, and Danny and Amanda Smock; and one great-granddaughter, Madison Marie Smock. She was preceded in death by her parents; three siblings, twins Larry Rae and Mary Fae Clubb and Charles E. Clubb; and various other relatives and friends. Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, 2004, in the Jonesboro Cemetery, with Jerry Parr and Ron Schriefer officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today in the chapel of Hileman Funeral Home.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, in the Jackson Funeral Home, with evangelist Ginger Jamison-Rye and Pastor Jacqueline Henderson officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. MURPHYSBORO -- Virginia Kelley, 79, of Lima, Ohio, formerly of Murphysboro, died at 9:49 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2004, in St. Rita's Medical Center. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 3, 2004, at Chamerlain- Huckeriede Funeral Home, with the Rev. Joseph Bishman officiating. Burial will be in Shawnee Cemetery in Lima, Ohio. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Appleseed Ridge Girl Scouts or Shawnee United Methodist Church. Mrs. Kelley was a homemaker. She volunteered with Appleseed Ridge Girl Scout Council for 30-plus years, and she was a member of the Shawnee United Methodist Church. She was born on Oct. 26, 1925, in Murphysboro, to Henry C. Davis and Rose Ellen (Judd) Davis. She married Carl M. Kelley on Oct. 7, 1943, he preceded her in death on Dec. 10, 1997. Survivors include a son, Ronald M. (Mary Ann) Kelley of Cooper Canyon, Texas; three daughters, Carolyn (Pat) Cox of Dayton, Ohio, Nancy (Bill) Neff of Lima, Ohio and Carla (Jeff) Green of Lima, Ohio; sister, Beulah Purcell of Murphysboro; and sister-in-law, Roberta Davis of Normal; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Clarence and Anna Davis, and Ernest 'Bill' Davis.
Evangeline Gremmels
SPARTA -- Evangeline Gremmels, 86, died at 10 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2004, in Randolph County Care Center, Sparta. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, 2004, at Trinity United Presbyterian Church in Sparta, with Pastor David Moody officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 8 to 9 a.m. Saturday at McDaniel Funeral Home in Sparta thence to the church until hour of service. Memorials may be made to the Trinity United Presbyterian Church Quilters, the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society. Mrs. Gremmels started teaching in the Randolph County one room school and then later taught at the Sparta Primary before retiring after 32 years. She was a member of the Trinity United Presbyterian Church in Sparta. She was born Dec. 16, 1917, in Schuline, to Otto Krull and Mabel (Bodeker) Krull. She married Wilbert C. Gremmels May 18, 1940, in Sparta. He died on Oct 19, 1977. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Kenneth Hartman of Steeleville; one son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Leila Gremmels of Steeleville; two sisters-in-law, Dolores Kahle of Belleville and June Krull of Nebraska; five grandchildren, Jennifer and Michael Huchaby, Dawn Hartman, Alissa Hartman, David and Dara Gremmels and Dr. Jeffrey Gremmels; and two great-grandchildren, Julia Huckaby and Katherine Huckaby. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers and one sister.
