Eileen Earnhart
DONGOLA -- Eileen Earnhart, 88, of Dongola, died at 11:20 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, 2005, in Jonesboro Health Care Center. She was born on Aug. 6, 1916, in Dongola, a daughter of Tell and Cora (Goodman) Groner. On Aug. 15, 1936, she married Van Earnhart and he preceded her in death on May 28, 1982. Eileen was a 40 plus year member of the Maple Grove Baptist Church and active member of W. M. U. She was a Sunday School Teacher, and active in Bible school. She was dedicated to her family and a loyal servant to her church. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and Don Treece of Anna, and Christine and Jim Helm of Dongola; son and daughter-in-law, Kenton and Beverly Earnhart of Dongola; granddaughter, Paige Helm Massey of Dongola; grandsons, John and Stacy Earnhart of Dongola, and Justin Earnhart of Dongola; great-grandchildren, Bryce Helm Massey, Nicole Earnhart, and Alyssa Earnhart all of Dongola; brother, Howard Groner of Dongola; sister, Flora Hartline of Maggie Valley, N. C. ; nieces; nephews; and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2005, at Crain Funeral Home in Dongola, with Pastor David Gilley and the Rev. Verlee Eaker officiating. Interment will be in American Legion Cemetery in Dongola. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Crain Funeral Home in Dongola. Memorials may be made to Maple Grove Baptist Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

DU QUOIN -- Sherri Lynn Pena Adams, 47, died at 10:40 p.m. Friday, Jan. 28, 2005, in Herrin Hospital. Services will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin, with the Rev. Silas Morgan officiating. Burial will at a later date in IOOF Cemetery in Du Quoin. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

GOREVILLE -- Fronie Belle Wilson, 77, of Marion, formerly of Goreville, passed away at 3 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, 2005, at home. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2005, at Blue Funeral Home in Goreville, with the Rev. Shorty Alsip officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mount Hebron Cemetery in Goreville. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois; envelopes will be available at the funeral home and may be sent; co Blue Funeral Home, P. O. Box 411, Marion, IL 62959. Mrs. Wilson was born March 21, 1927, in Johnson County, to Guss and Vertie (Thornton) Perry. She married George Columbus Wilson on Jan. 4, 1942, in Missouri. He preceded her in death on Oct. 30, 1975. Survivors include daughters, Katy and Bob Tripp of Goreville, Barbara and Roy Rogers of Johnston City, Linda and Keith Oxford of Marion; son, George E. Wilson of Marion; grandchildren, Mike Tripp, Shawn and Julie Tripp, Todd and Sarah Tripp, Teresa and Bobby Massey, Dawnetta Wilson, Jeff and Mechelle Rogers, Keith Rogers and Ashley Tanner, Tonya and Phillip Hampton, Heather Oxford, Justin Oxford; great-grandchildren, Kyle and Shanna Massey, Tosha Massey, Seth, Brooke, Kelsey, Austin and Autumn Tripp, Dayton and Brenne Jo Tripp, Candice Rogers, Haleigh Rogers, Brittany Steinmetz, Tyler Rogers, Jill Tanner, Kobe Tanner, Logan and Caleb; great-great-grandchildren, Alexis, Peyton and Kyleigh Massey; sisters, Lorene and Eugene Jolly of Mattoon, Juanita Stroud of Mattoon, Virgie and Dale Billingsley of Goreville, Wilma and Ronald Stroud of Goreville; brothers, Ernest and Clara Faye Perry of Goreville, Kenneth and Alma Lee Perry of Pittsburg, John and Marilyn Perry of Marion; sisters-in-law, Nellie Wright of Carbondale, Wilma Robertson of Murphysboro; brother-in-law, Jim Hancock of Goreville. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Alma Jean Wilson; sisters, Geneive Hancock and Lois Billingsley. She was a member of Spillertown Baptist Church and loved attending there. Mrs. Wilson loved flowers and gardening and watching birds. She will be missed by all.

CARBONDALE -- Clarence S. Smith, 97, of Cape Girardeau, formerly of Carbondale, died at 3:40 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, 2005. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Crain Funeral Home, Pleasant Grove Chapel on Old Route 13, between Carbondale and Murphysboro, with Pastors Brooks Wilson and Hal Green e officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and until time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.

CHRISTOPHER -- Albert Murphy Gunter, 81, of Christopher, passed away Saturday, Jan. 29, 2005, in Franklin Hospital in Benton. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 3, 2005, at Gilbert Funeral Home in Christopher, with Gene Fox officiating. Burial will be in Mulkeytown Cemetery. Visitation will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2005, at the funeral home. Albert was born April 5, 1923, in Byrdstown, Tenn., to Alfred Taylor and Susie Bell Pryor Gunter. He married Leona Van Hoye on Nov. 1, 1944, in Buckner. He retired from the Old Ben Coal No. 21 and was a member of the Masonic Lodge. John Robert Adams
WEST FRANKFORT -- John Robert Adams (1930-2005) has left us to be with the Lord. He passed away peacefully at 7:20 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, 2005, at home. He is survived by his loving wife, Glenda Lee (Cole) Adams; his sister, Betty Jean Adams; his four daughters and three sons-in- law, Susan and John Blakely, Kathryn and Donald Downing, Karin Adams, and Sandie and Roger Hughes; and his eight grandchildren, Jennifer, Stephanie, Avery, Rachel, John Rodney, Adam Cole, Joshua and Sarah; and his great-grandchild, Jacob. John deeply loved and cherished his wife, Glenda, for 51 years. He was a patient and dedicated father and grandfather. John was always available for his family and was a devoted son, brother and nephew, as well. For those who had the pleasure of calling him their friend, he was truly dependable and supporting. John was also a devout member of First Christian Church of West Frankfort. Among his many accomplishments, John served as president of the Franklin-Williamson Human Services Foundation and SIH Hospital Board. He was also a member of the West Frankfort Park Board and the Lion's Club and was an avid supporter of the FCHS band. John was deeply involved in fund raising for these organizations and started the first Bocce Ball Tournament and Breakfast in the Park fund-raisers. John Adams had the unique ability to make everyone feel welcomed and important. As everyone hopes to make a difference in his world, John accomplished much in his quiet and warm style. John will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Even though he is sorely missed, we know he is now present with the Lord, which gives us great comfort. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2005, at First Christian Church in West Frankfort, with Minister Gene Fox officiating. A lunch will immediately follow at the church. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Parker-Reedy Funeral Home in West Frankfort and after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the church. A walk-through will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home by the West Frankfort Lion's and Rotary clubs. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois, Inc., or to the building fund of First Christian Church in West Frankfort. Donations will be accepted at the funeral home.

HERRIN -- Mary Elizabeth Prewitt, 77, died at 8:36 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, 2005, in Herrin Hospital. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 5, in Meredith-Waddell Funeral Home, located at 2704 S. Park Ave. in Herrin. Interment will be in East Lawn Memorial Gardens in Energy.
