Floy V. Johns
MARION -- Floy V. Johns, 96, of Marion, passed away at 4:15 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2005, in Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, 2005, at Blue Funeral Home in Marion, with the Rev. Paul Ramsey officiating. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, 2005, at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Marion. Mrs. Johns was born on June 30, 1908, in Williamson County, to Frank and Nettie (Williams) Milligan. She married Ed Johns on Nov. 28, 1927, in Murphysboro; he preceded her in death on March 7, 1985. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Annette and Dan Cavitt of Marion; granddaughter, Angela and Jeromy Morris of Carterville; great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Hayden Morris and Jeffrey Norris; and brother, John Milligan of Green ville, Ind. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and infant son, Edward Lee Johns. Mrs. Johns was a beautician and owned and operated a beauty salon in Marion for 30 years. She attended First Church of God and New Hope Church of God. She was a breast cancer survivor for 53 years.
Ivan R. Wright
CARBONDALE -- Ivan R. Wright, 69, died at 1:38 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2005, at home. Services will be at 11 a.m. today in Dillinger Cemetery, with the Rev. Wes Henson officiating. There will be no visitation. Walker Funeral Home in Carbondale is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Hospice of Southern Illinois, 1110 N. Johnson St., Marion, IL 62959. Mr. Wright was retired as a firefighter in Carbondale after 21 years in 1989. He was an U. S. Army veteran and a member of the Carbondale Eagles, the VFW and Walnut Street Baptist Church. He was born March 17, 1935, in Carbondale, the son of Raymond Wright and Carrie (McKinney) Wright. Survivors include three daughters, Linda Wright, Joann (Wright) Etherton and Ginger Wright, all of Carbondale; one son, Scott Wright of Carbondale; one sister, Shelby Hill of Carbondale; two brothers, Glenn Wright of Carbondale and Darwin Wright of Wichita Falls, Texas; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three nieces; and six nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Raymond John Wright.
Margie D. (Lucas) Klope
MARION -- Margie D. (Lucas) Klope, 83, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, at 3:05 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 27, 2005, in Parkway Manor in Marion. Margie was born Feb. 14, 1921, to the late Orval and Lura (Pankey) Lucas in Hayti, Mo. She married William Klope Sr. in Jackson, Mo., April 2, 1940, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 26, 1983. Margie was a homemaker. She was a member of Davis Prairie Crab Orchard Baptist Church. Margie is survived by a son, William Klope Jr. and wife Janet of Carterville; two grandsons, Mike Klope of Carterville, and Mark Klope and wife Holly of Herrin; two sisters, Barbara and Ed Mitchell of rural Marion; Geraldine and Bob Holmes of Harrisburg; two brothers, Ted and Trecia Lucas of Harrisburg, and Jerry Lee and Sandee Lucas of Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband William; six sisters and two brothers. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, 2005, at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion, with the Rev. John Howat officiating. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. For those who prefer, memorials may be given to Hospice of Southern Illinois, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Nicey Nadine Scholes
PITTSBURG -- Nicey Nadine Scholes, 58, of Pittsburg, passed away at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2005, in Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, 2005, in Lakeview Cemetery in Johnston City, with the Rev. Bob Fitzpatrick officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today, Jan. 28, 2005, at Blue Funeral Home in Marion. Mrs. Scholes was born on Aug. 23, 1946, in Middlesboro, Ky., to Bascum and Nellie (Parton) Barnett. She married Clarence Everett Scholes on June 17, 1984, he preceded her in death on July 12, 2003. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Jesse and Birdie Barnett of Pittsburg; daughter, Debbie Scholes of Pittsburg; stepchildren, Mary Anglin of Mount Olive, Sharon Gutterman of Collinsville, Karen Roberts of Albertsville, Minn., Sandy Krause of Granite City, and Teddy Dean Scholes of Marion; 14 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. Mrs. Scholes was a homemaker. She was of the Pentecostal faith.
John Allen Reames
GORHAM -- John Allen Reames, 59, of Fairview Heights, formerly of rural Gorham, passed away Saturday, Jan. 22, 2005, in John Cochran Hospital in St. Louis. He was born in Murphysboro, on Oct. 23, 1945, to Charles Edward Reames and Iva Mae (Gregersen) Reames. He was a graduate of Gorham Community High School and SIUC. He was an English teacher and coach in the Mascoutah school district for more than 30 years. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War. Survivors include eight brothers and three sisters, C. Edward Reames of Lakeland, Fla., J. P. Reames of Washington, Donna Hild of St. Louis, Laura Lee Husband of Steeleville, William D. Reames of St. Petersburg, Fla., Philip B. Reames of Lexington, S. C., Thomas N. Reames of Murphysboro, Kenneth M. Reames of Jonesboro, Mary Beth Scott of Stonefort, Lawrence D. Reames of Peoria and David E. Reames of Hollister, Mo. ; sister-in-law, Beatrice Reames of Deltona, Fla. ; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Robert E. Reames; one niece; two nephews; stepmother, Mary Reames; sister-in-law, Idalee Reames; and brother-in-law, John Hild. Memorial services will be at 12:45 p.m. today at Jefferson Barracks Chapel in St. Louis, with burial in Jefferson Barracks Cemetery.
Wilburn Denham
MARION -- Wilburn Denham, 78, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2005, in the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Marion. Services will be at 1 p.m. today in East Lawn Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. Don Colson officiating. Graveside rites will be performed by the VFW and the American Legion in Herrin. There will be no visitation. Van Natta Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Denham was an engineer and a veteran of the Marine Corps. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion in Herrin and the Southern Illinois Leathernecks Marine Corps League in Herrin. He was born March 3, 1926, in Herrin, to Henry Denham and Lela (Hayes) Denham. He married Verna Lee (Mitchell) Denham and she preceded him in death on May 10, 1974. Survivors include five nieces, Lori Denham of Marion, Patty Murray of Lincoln, Sandra Adams of Urbana, Vicki Dunaway of Champaign and Leah Gahn of West Frankfort; four nephews, Allen Denham of Freeman Spur, John Denham of Haines, Fla., Richie Denham of West Frankfort and Gary Jones of Wildwood, Fla. ; and a brother-in-law, Bill Jones of Champaign. He was preceded in death by four brothers; three sisters; his wife; and his parents.
Mamie L. Sherman
AVA -- Mamie L. Sherman, 83, died at 12:55 p.m. Monday, Jan. 24, 2005, in St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Murphysboro. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, 2005, in Wilson's Funeral Home in Ava, with the Rev. Nate Hagen officiating. Burial will be in Birkner Cemetery in Ava. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from 7:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Mrs. Sherman was a homemaker. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Christian Church in Murphysboro. She was born Feb. 4, 1921, in Elkville, to Rolla and Ada Robinson Colp. She married Ottie Sherman on Nov. 22, 1946, in De Soto, Miss., and he passed away on July 22, 1990. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Louise and Bob Fulton of Ava and Mary and Kenny Miller of Dieterich; one daughter-in-law, Alice Sherman of Ava; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one brother, Woodrow Colp of Waukegan. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, John E. Sherman; one sister; and four brothers. Memorial contributions may be made to the Birkner Cemetery Fund.

ANNA -- Pauline (Davis) Choate, 94, of Tucson, Ariz., formerly of Anna, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2005, in Tucson, Ariz. She was born in Goreville on Nov. 12, 1910, a daughter of Leander and Adeline (Escue) Davis. She married Dr. Rovelle C. Choate and he died on July 14, 1994. Pauline was a homemaker. She is survived by her two daughters, Paula Baltes of Tucson, Ariz. and Karen(David) Robbins of West Hartford, Conn. ; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister, Delphia Livesay of Mount Vernon; and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, 2005, at Crain Funeral Home in Anna, with Gene Crosser officiating. Interment will be in Anna Cemetery. Friends may call from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at Crain Funeral Home in Anna.
