Dorothy E. Factly
Dorotht E. Factly, 90, of Burlington passed away Saturday, March 31, 2001 at Bethany Healthcare in DeKalb.
She was born June 26, 1910 in Burlington, the daughter of George and Alvina (Wiese) Laseman.
She was a 1927 graduate of Burlington High School. Dorothy married
Henry V. Factly on June 8, 1929. Mrs. Factly was employed at the former Elgin National Watch Factory and J.C. Penney's before becoming Postmaster for the Burlington Post Office, a position she held for 13 years. She was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church of Burlington, the Ladies Aid Society, and the retired Postmasters.
Dorothy was a loving and devoted wife, mother and proud grandmother. Surviving are three daughters, Patricia (Loren) Jones, Glenna Schairer and Romelle (Robert) Ostrom all of Burlington; six grandchildren, Dana (Howard) Engel of Reidsburg, WI, Rick (Karen) Schairer of Burlington, Randy (Nancy) Schairer of Belvidere, Rodi (Lori) Schairer of Sycamore, Candi Smith of Burlington and Tami (Larry) Mackey of Marengo; 11 great grandchildren; and a great great granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Henry on December 31, 1987; a son-in-law, Donald Schairer on October 20, 1996; two brothers, Herman and Elmer Laseman; and a sister, Lois Ouimette.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 PM Tuesday, April 3 at the Fredrick Funeral Home, 284 Park St. in Hampshire.
Private Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 PM Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Edward A. Davis officiating. Burial will be in the Burlington Township Union cemetery.

Nicholas Quinn Girard
Nicholas Quinn Girard, 5 months old passed away Friday, March 30, 2001 in Lutheran General Hospital N.I.C.U., Park Ridge, IL.
He was born October 20, 2000 in Park Ridge, IL, the son of Kenneth and Debbie Girard.
Nicholas is survived by his parents; a brother, Zachary; a sister, Lauren; his grandparents; and his great grandmother.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 AM Tuesday in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee with Father Richard Rosinski officiating. Burial will be in Dundee Township cemetery East.
Visitation will be Monday from 4 to 9 PM in the funeral home.

Elvira C. Michalak of Powersville, MO, died March 24, 2001.
Survivors include one son, Michael; three daughters, Patricia (Don) Mclain, Karen Michalak and Sandra (Ramiro) Olvera. Grandmother of seven. Great-grandmother of three. One brother, Joseph Priola.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Irvin.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 3, 2001 at 10:30 a.m. at Community Funeral Home, Rt. 25 in East Dundee. Burial will be at Dundee East cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, April 2, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Community Funeral Home.
Phyllis A. Polcyn
Phyllis A. Polcyn, 68, of Carpentersville died Sunday, March 25, 2001 at Sherman Hospital in Elgin.
Born in Muncie, IN to Isidro and Wanda (Bowen) Garcia on September 2, 1932.
She was a 41 year resident of the Carpentersville area. A member of the St. Monica Church in Carpentersville and an avid Bingo Player/
Phyllis is survived by her three sons, Jeffery, Timothy and Kevin.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Edward.
Funeral Services will be on Wednesday, April 4, at 9:45 AM in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee for Mass at 10:30 AM in the St. Monica Catholic Church in Carpentersville with the Rev. J. Robert Camacho officiating. Burial will be in Dundee Township East cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday, April 3, 2001 from 4 to 9 PM in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee.
Helmuth A. Thurow
Helmuth A. Thurow, 94, of Huntley, passed away Friday, March 30, 2001 at Sherman West Court in Elgin.
He was born March 7, 1907 in Marengo Township in McHenry County, the son of Gustave and Helena (Benecke) Thurow. He married
Lucille Williams on May 7, 1944 in Elgin. Mr. Thurow was a long time barber and farmer.
He was a member of the First Congregational Church of Huntley where he served as a Trustee and Deacon for many years, a life member and past officer of the Huntley Lions Club and a member of the Harvard Moose Lodge.
Surviving are his wife, Lucille; six nieces, Thelma Brugger, Suzanne Jensen, Nancy Sweat, Meredith Osvald, Linda Thurow, and Susan Thurow; four nephews, Bradley, Kirby, John and Joseph Thurow; and two sisters-in-law, Elnor Thurow and Mildred Thurow.
Mr. Thurow was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Herbert and Erhardt Thurow; two sisters, Helen Dimon and Gertrude Swanson; and two nephews Robert and Richard Swanson.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, April 4, 2001 at the First Congregational Church, 11628 E. Main St., Huntley with the Rev. Bette J. Zattau officiating. Burial will be in the Huntley cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 AM on Wednesday prior to services at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Congregational Church of Huntley.

Jeanette Noble Walter
Jeanette Noble Walter, 91, of Elgin, formerly of Peoria, IL, passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2003 at her daughter's home in Gilberts, IL. She was born July 23, 1911, the daughter of Leander C. and Mary Doran Noble. She had been a resident of Peoria most of her life. She was a graduate of Peoria High School and was a noted drama coach and elocutionist.
Surviving are her daughter, Jan (John) Thietje of Gilberts, a son, Bob (Barb) Walter of Appleton, WI, four grandchildren, three great grandchildren and sister in law and brother in law June and Maynard Carlson of Peoria.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 60 years, Robert D. Walter on April 6, 2000 and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 4, 2003 at 7:30 p.m. at University United Methodist Church, 2818 N. University, Peoria with Rev. Gordon Smith officiating. Private graveside services will be held Saturday, April 5 at Springdale cemetery, Peoria. Visitation will be held Friday, April 4 from 6:30 p.m. until the time of the services in the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Peoria c/o Leslie Matuszak, 806 E. Kansas, Peoria, IL 62603. Laird Funeral Home, 120 S. Philip M. Childs
Philip M. Childs, 89, formerly of Jenson's, Garden City, SC died on March 30, 2001.
He was born in Elgin, the son of the late Ernest M. and Ella K. Childs.
He was a graduate of Elgin High School and the University of Illinois Extension. Before retirement he was Production Control Manager at the Lincoln Nebraska Division and also the South Carolina Elgin Plant of the Elgin National Watch Company. In addition he was a professional pianist, having played for many years in R.K.O. Vaudeville with his band. He was a member of St. Michaels Catholic Church and the J.A.C. Club of Jensen's.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Irene (Rick) Childs of Greenville, SC; one daughter, Patricia Colling of Axtell, NE; two sons, David K. Childs of Greenville, SC and Jeffrey N. Childs of Wasco, IL and their spouses; 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; and two brothers, George Childs and Merle Childs, both of Elgin, IL.
Memorial Services will be Tuesday, April 3, 2001 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Michaels Catholic Church, Garden City, SC.

Alma M. Quandt
Alma M. Quandt, 91 of Elgin passed away Monday, April 2, 2001 in Sherman Hospital, Elgin.
She was born Oct. 30, 1909 in Elgin and had been a resident of Elgin all of her life.
Survivors include three daughters,Carol (Bud) Davis of Sandstone, Minn., Mary (Roscoe) Stelford of Hampshire and Linda (Spence) Scott of Elgin; two sons, Roger (Charlotte) Quandt of Elgin andRichard (Lorraine) Quandt of South Elgin; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; a sister, Ruby (Lester)Richards of Aurora; and a daughter-in-law, Pat Quandt of Elgin.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry H. Quandt in 1969; two sons, Donald and Robert Quandt; and two brothers, Harold and Art Kauke.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Wednesday in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. Burial will be in Bluff City cemetery, Elgin.
Visitation will 5-9 p.m., Tuesday in the funeral home.
Ronald Charles Schreiber
Ronald Charles Schreiber, 57, of Elgin, passed away Sunday, April 1, 2001 in his home.
He was born April 16, 1943 in Great Falls, Mont., the son of Warren and Mildred (Hofer) Schreiber.
Ron had owned and operated Ron's Larkin Ave. Amoco Service Station in Elgin for many years. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved camping. Ron will be missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include his wife, Kathleen (nee Naylor), whom he married
on July 19, 1981; four children, Nikki, Michael, Christopher and Shara; his brother, Ralph (Hollie) Kissane of Carpentersville; two sisters, Patti Kissane Hall of Elgin and Gail Kissane of Carpentersville; his step-father, Thomas Kissane of Carpentersville; and numerous family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mildred Kissane; and his father, Warren Schreiber.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Thursday in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. Burial will be in Dundee Township East cemetery, East Dundee.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m., Wednesday in the funeral home.
