Irene L. Doty
Irene L. Doty, 92, of Elgin, passed away Monday, April 1, 2002 at Provena St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin.
She was born June 27, 1909 in Riley Township, IL, the daughter of William and Hulda (Dobbratz) Kopplin. Irene was married
to Kenneth Madeen and following his death in October of 1955, she married
Ronald H. Doty on December 8, 1956 in North Plato.
She had been employed at the former People's Clothing Store in Elgin. Mrs. Doty was a member of St. Peters Evangelical Lutheran Church of North Plato.
Surviving are her husband, Ron; son, Harold "Bud" (Anne) Madeen of Parachute, Colorado and four grandchildren, Jeff, Greg, Rick and Gwyn Madeen.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Kenneth; also ten brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, April 4, 2002 at the St. Peters Evangelical Lutheran Church, 43W301 Plank Rd., North Plato with the Rev. Edward A. Davis officiating. Burial will be in the Hampshire Center cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday at the Fredrick Funeral Home, 284 Park St., Hampshire and on Thursday at the church prior to service. Memorials in her name may be directed to St. Peters Evangelical Lutheran Church Building Fund of North Plato.
Hilda B. Garcia
Hilda B. Garcia, 54, of Gilberts died Tuesday, April 2, 2002 at her home. She was born in Edinburg, Texas on May 14, 1947. She was a six year resident of the Gilberts area. She was a member of St. Catherine Of Siena Church, West Dundee. She was a former 20 year employee of Siemens Medical of Hoffman Estates.
She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Guadalupe S. Garcia, whom she married
on September 12, 1970; a son, Darrell (Joelle) Garcia of Belvidere; two grandsons, Shane and Adam Garcia; her parents, Manuel G. and Isabel B. Montemayor of Pharr, Texas; two brothers, Manuel, Jr. (Rosie) Montemayor of Winslow, AZ and Wally Montemayor of Grand Prairie, TX; two sisters, Mary E. (Tony) Delgatto of Grand Prairie, TX and Mary Alice (Lee) Thomas of Barrington; she is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Mass will be on Friday at 10:00 A.M. in the St. Catherine Of Siena Church, West Dundee. The Rev. Richard Rosinski will officiate. Burial will follow in the St. Mary cemetery, Gilberts. Visitation will be on Thursday, April 4, 2002 from 5-9:00 P.M. in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee and on Friday in the church from 9:00 A.M. until time of Mass.
Norman H. Hall
Norman H. Hall, 63, of Carpentersville departed this life after a lengthy illness on March 30, 2002.
Survived by wife, Nancy; two sisters, Millie and Sally; five children from previous marriage, Debra Atkins, Bonnie Gill, Kathleen Ruhnke, DeVonne Gable, Suzanne Conway and eight grandchildren.
Leone Van Vleet
Leone Van Vleet, 84, of Elgin passed away Saturday, March 30, 2002 in Sherman West Court, Elgin.
She was born May 14, 1917 in Elgin and was the daughter of Oral and Lucy (Volkening) Sholes. Resident of Elgin for all of her life. Member of Grace United Methodist Church of Elgin.
Survivors include three sons: James of Gurnee, IL; Gordon (Joyce) of Tinley Park, IL; John of Wakefield, Mass.: seven grandchildren: Angela, Carrie, David, Douglas, Elizabeth, Lauren and Mark: three great-grandchildren; Alyssa, Elizabeth and Alexander: sister; Joyce Sholes of Elgin.
preceded in death by parents, husband Robert Van Vleet in 1990; brother Ernest Sholes; sister Betty Mills.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 1:00 p.m. in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. Burial will be in the Lakewood Memorial Park. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4-8:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the church.
Ruth M. Aurand
Ruth M. Aurand, 87, of Elgin passed away Sunday, March 30, 2003 at Sherman Hospital, Elgin. she was born July 23, 1915 in Stephenson County, IL, the daughter of Frank and Lucy Rodebaugh Keister.
Surviving are her five children, Vivian Boyd of Modesto, CA, Arthur Aurand of Monroe, WI, Rosemary Perez of Elgin, Virgil Aurand of Belvidere and Evelyn Falcon of Elgin, 21 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Louis Aurand and one sister and five brothers, all from the Freeport, IL area.
Private funeral services were held in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. Burial was private in Algonquin cemetery.

Violet Kolberg
Violet Kolberg, 81, of Elgin passed away Monday, March 31, 2003 at ManorCare Health Services, Elgin. She was born December 23, 1921. She was a long time resident of Elgin and was a graduate of Elgin High School. She and her husband, LaVern owned Kolberg Jewelers in Elgin. She was a member of the Episcopal Church of The Redeemer in Elgin.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, LaVern, in 1986.
Graveside services will be held Friday, April 4, 2003 at 11 a.m. at Bluff City cemetery, Elgin with Rev. Laura C. Truby officiating. Laird Funeral Home, Elgin is in charge of arrangements.
Jeanette Noble Walter
Jeanette Noble Walter, 91, of Elgin, formerly of Peoria, IL, passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2003 at her daughter's home in Gilberts, IL. She was born July 23, 1911, the daughter of Leander C. and Mary Doran Noble. She had been a resident of Peoria most of her life. She was a graduate of Peoria High School and was a noted drama coach and elocutionist.
Surviving are her daughter, Jan (John) Thietje of Gilberts, a son, Bob (Barb) Walter of Appleton, WI, four grandchildren, three great grandchildren and sister in law and brother in law June and Maynard Carlson of Peoria.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 60 years, Robert D. Walter on April 6, 2000 and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 4, 2003 at 7:30 p.m. at University United Methodist Church, 2818 N. University, Peoria with Rev. Gordon Smith officiating. Private graveside services will be held Saturday, April 5 at Springdale cemetery, Peoria. Visitation will be held Friday, April 4 from 6:30 p.m. until the time of the services in the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Peoria c/o Leslie Matuszak, 806 E. Kansas, Peoria, IL 62603. Laird Funeral Home, 120 S. Candy R. Denny
Candy R. Denny, 32, of Elgin passed away Monday, April 2, 2001 in Sherman Hospital, Elgin.
She was born December 22, 1968 in Elgin, the daughter of Grover and Peggy Moore Brooks.
She had been a resident of Elgin all of her life.
Surviving are her husband, Joseph R. Denny; two daughters, Brittany Denny and Lori (Jason) Withers; two sons, Christopher and Brandon Denny; two grandchildren, Justin and Jeffrey; her parents of Hampshire; three sisters, Freda (David) Bjork of Elgin, Kathy (Dennis) Kenzler of Elgin and Tammy (Keith) Hawkins of Elgin.
Memorial Services will be held Friday, April 6, 2001 at 7 PM in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin with Rev. Richard Fayen officiating. Burial will be private.
Visitation will be at the time of services in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Denny Children's Education Fund, C/O the family.
Walter H. Korth
Walter H. Korth, 76, of Fort Atkinson, Wis., died Sunday, Apri 1, 2001 at the Fort Atkinson Memorial Health Services.
He was born Feb. 13, 1925 in Chicago, the son of Walter and Erna (Wnuck) Korth.
He married
the former Marjorie DeVous of Chicago on May 26, 1951.
He had been a resident of Fort Atkinson, Wis. since 1978, moving there from Elgin. He was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church. A World War II Veteran serving with the US Navy. He was a member of the Edwin Frohmader Post 1879 VFW; the Paul Frank Florine Post 166 of the American Legion and a former member of the Loyal Order of Moose.
Survivors include his wife, Marjorie; two sons, Thomas Korth of Fort Atkinson and David (Annette) Korth of Elgin; seven grandchildren, Chad Korth, Kyle Korth, Jessica Korth, Michelle Korth, Jeff Krocko, Tracy Korth and David Korth Jr.; and a sister, Shirley Phillips of Tinley Park.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial services will be 1:30 p.m., Thursday in St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Rev. Paul Scharrer and Rev. Michael Duncan officiating.
Friends may call after 1 p.m., Thursday in the church until the time of services.
The Dunlap Memorial Home is assisting the family.
Debra L. Lawson
Debra L. Lawson, 47, of Wonder Lake, died Sunday, April 1, 2001 at Northern Illinois Medical Center, McHenry.
She was born March 27, 1954 in Pittsburgh, Penn., the daughter of Raymond and Grace (Thornburg) Russell.
On July 7, 1988 she married
Paul Lawson in Wonder Lake.
Formerly of Carpentersville and Elgin, she was a resident of Wonder Lake for 14 years. Debra was employed by the Eagle Country Market in McHenry for the past year. Prior to that, she was employed by Northern Illinois Medical Center and Memorial Medical Center for two years.
Debra was active with the Jacobson Park Girls Softball League in Wonder Lake for seven years. She was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening, movies and walks.
Survivors include her husband, Paul; a daughter, Amber Grace Morris, at home; a brother, Ray Russell; a sister-in-law, Ruth Ann (James) Augustyn; an aunt, Bunnie Bridgeman Wilhere; an uncle, Thomas (Betty) Thornburg; her cousin, Kitty Ellis Anderson of Pittsburgh; and many other cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandparents.
Funeral services will be 9:30 a.m., Friday, April 6 in the Justen's Wonder Lake Funeral Home, 7611 W. Hancock Dr., Wonder Lake, the Rev. Mike Hein officiating. Interment will be at Abraham Lincoln National cemetery, Elwood, Ill.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m., Thursday in the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Amber Morris Educational Fund, c/o Wonder Lake State Bank, 7526 Hancock Dr., Wonder Lake, would be appreciated by the family.
Thomas MauleThomas Maule, 78, of Boise, Idaho passed away Monday, March 19, 2001 at his home after an extended illness.
He was born May 7, 1923 in Elgin, the son of Joseph and Virginia (Giambelluca) Maule.
Tom attended schools in Elgin, graduating from Elgin High School in 1941. He married
Betty Niedert of Elgin in November 1944, then entered the Army Air Corps and flew as a Flight Officer until June 1945. After being discharged, they made their home in Elgin, Nevada and Idaho.
He loved flying and obtained his Commercial Pilots license in 1945 and owned his own plane until moving West. After graduating from Boise State University, he taught school on the Duck Valley Indian Reservation in Owyhee, Nevada. Tom retired in 1984 and returned to Boise. He had a great sense of humor and was loved by all who knew him.
Survivors include his wife, Betty; two daughters, Gail Ann of California and Carol Ann Cluff of Utah; one brother, Calvin of California; and nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Lawrence and Charles; and four sisters, Laphena, Jennie, Rose and Josephine.
No services were held.
