Betty L. Chastain
Betty L. Chastain, 72 of Elgin passed away Tuesday, April 3, 2001 in Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin.
She was born Sept. 13, 1928 in Rockford, the daughter of Donald and Clara Sjurset Leatherby.
She had been a resident of Elgin most of her life and was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Elgin.
Survivors include her husband, Dale M. Chastain, whom she married
on April 8, 1950; two daughters, Karen Chastain-Johns of Pingree Grove and Kathy(William) Banker of Elgin; a son, Don Chastain of Pingree Grove; 12 grandchildren; a great-grandson; two sisters, Nancy (Ed) Rogers and Judy (Kermit) Lowe, both of Placerville, Calif.; and two brothers, Robert (Joyce) Leatherby of Elgin and Richard Leatherby of Placerville, Calif.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers.
Private graveside services will be held in Lakewood Memorial Park, Elgin.
There will be no visitation. Laird Funeral Home, Elgin is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the American Heart Association or the Jayne Shover Easter Seal Center, Elgin.
Candy R. Denny
Candy R. Denny, 32, of Elgin passed away Monday, April 2, 2001 in Sherman Hospital, Elgin.
She was born December 22, 1968 in Elgin, the daughter of Grover and Peggy Moore Brooks.
She had been a resident of Elgin all of her life.
Surviving are her husband, Joseph R. Denny; two daughters, Brittany Denny and Lori (Jason) Withers; two sons, Christopher and Brandon Denny; two grandchildren, Justin and Jeffrey; her parents of Hampshire; three sisters, Freda (David) Bjork of Elgin, Kathy (Dennis) Kenzler of Elgin and Tammy (Keith) Hawkins of Elgin.
Memorial Services will be held Friday, April 6, 2001 at 7 PM in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin with Rev. Richard Fayen officiating. Burial will be private.
Visitation will be at the time of services in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Denny Children's Education Fund, C/O the family.
Marguerite "Marge" Piegorsch
Marguerite "Marge" Piegorsch, 86, of Friendship Village, Schaumburg, formerly of Bartlett.
She was born Oct. 4, 1914 in Bartlett, the daughter of Albert and Bertha (nee Krumfuss) Piegorsch.
She was a member of the Immanuel United Church of Christ in Bartlett for many years. She was a lifelong resident of Bartlett and a longtime member of the National Organist Society.
Survivors include nieces and nephews, Barry (Linda) O'Brien of Powell, Tenn., Larry (Kate) O'Brien of Florence, Ariz. and Kathy (Jim) Raue of Bartlett.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Gordon Piegorsch and Donald Piegorsch; a sister, Nancy Piegorsch; and a very special nephew, Roland (Evelyn) O'Brien.
Memorial services will be 8 p.m., Thursday, in the Countryside Funeral Home & Crematory, 950 South Bartlett Rd. (at Stearns Rd.), Bartlett. Cremation will be private.
Visitation will be 6 p.m., Thursday until the time of services in the funeral home.

Lee C. Purdy
Lee C. Purdy, 98, of Pingree Grove, passed away Monday, April 2, 2001 in the Asta Care Center, Elgin.
He was born April 24, 1902 in Merrill, Wis., the son of of Bernard and Cora (Hadley) Purdy.
On Aug. 15, 1925 he married
Vergelene Leighty in Dundee. Having lived in the Dundee, Plato Center area, they moved to Pingree Grove in 1941.
He was retired from the Borden Co. in Elgin after 27 years and was an employee of the former Duchaj Standard Service in Elgin for many years. He also served on the board of trustees in Pingree Grove and enjoyed woodworking as a hobby.
Lee liked to recall memories of his early childhood being raised by his Creole Indian grandfather and Ute Indian grandmother. Upon the death of his grandfather, the grandmother moved to Chicago in a one room apartment, living on $3.00 a month on a government pension. The grandfather was a Civil War veteran. To help his grandmother, he started selling newspapers on the streets of Chicago at the age of 7. He was also a childhood friend of the late actor Johnny Weissmueller.
Survivors include his daughters, Alice (Laniere) Stevens of Montello, Wis. and Rose Ann Holtz of Pingree Grove; grandchildren, Jane (Ed) Adams of Cadiz, Ken., formerly of E. Dundee, Charlene Malone of Elgin, Robert (Kathy) Kollwelter of Kingston, Susan Klarkowski of Oxford, Wis., Vergelene "Jeanie" Holtz of Udina and Lee "Scooter" Holtz of Pingree Grove; nine great-grandchildren; seven great great-grandchildren; and close friends, Donna Daum and Garret Rapp of Pecatonica, Ill.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Vergelene on April 19, 1985; grandparents; three sisters; two brothers; son-in-law, Roland "Corky" Holtz; and great-granddaughter, Brandy Kollwelter.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Friday, April 6 at the Fredrick Funeral Home, 284 Park St., Hampshire. Burial will be in the Washington-McQueen cemetery on Highland Ave. in rural Elgin.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m., Thursday in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Pingree Grove/Countryside Fire Department.
Louise M. Anderson
Louise M. Anderson, 82, of Batavia, passed away Monday, April 2, 2001 at Delnor-Community Hospital, Geneva.
She was born March 28, 1919 in Elgin, the daughter of Elmer and Anna (nee Braasch) Goodeill.
She was united in marriage to Donald H. Anderson on Oct. 4, 1947 in Elgin.
Louise devoted her life to her beloved family and was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, Batavia.
Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Donald H. Anderson; three sons, Steven Anderson of Bolingbrook, Jeffrey Anderson of Elmhurst and David Anderson of Batavia; five grandchildren,Matthew and Nicholas Anderson, Kurt, Michelle and Stephanie Anderson; a sister, Grace Krusemeier of Elgin; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, EvelynMichalis; and two brothers, Walter and Al Goodeill.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Friday, April 6, 2001 at the Yurs-Peterson Funeral Home, Batavia, the Rev. Fred Reklau officiating. Burial will be in River Hills Memorial Park, Batavia.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m., Thursday in the funeral home.

Alyce K. (Sester) Carlson
Alyce K. (Sester) Carlson, 97, of Batavia, passed away on Sunday, April 3, 2004 at Apostolic Christian Resthaven in Elgin. She was born October 17, 1906 in Plato Center, the daughter of Louis and Kathryn (nee Studer) Sester who settled in United State from Alsaee Lorraine France. She was united in marriage to Carl "Cully" Carlson on December 15, 1933 and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1983, one year prior to Mr. Carlson's death.
Before her marriage, Alyce resided in Elgin and worked at the Elgin National Watch factory. She then was employed for over 20 years in the garment industry. She was a member of the United Garment Union, Local #90. She was a member of Holy Cross Church in Batavia, where she belonged to the Altar and Rosary Society. She was a 50-year member of the Catholic Daughters and a member of the Batavia Women of Moose, Chapter #722, where she received her College of Regents Degree in 1962.
She is survived by many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband. Carl "Cully" Carlson; two brothers, Bernard and Emil Sester; three sisters, Tillie Hartje, Mary Thums and Anna Zirk.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 7, 2004 at Holy Cross Church 2300 West Main Street Batavia, where she will lie in state from 9:00 a.m. until the time of funeral Mass. Interment will follow at River Hills Memorial Park in Batavia.

Rosalie F. Cejrowski
Rosalie F. Cejrowski, 93, of Elgin passed away on April 1, 2004 at St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin. She was born January 23, 1911 in Weyerhauser, WI to Frank and Louise Cejrowski.
She was a member of St. Laurence Catholic Church in Elgin.
She is survived by two sons, Michael (Ruth) Cejrowski of West Chicago and Douglas (Kathryn) Cejrowski of Elgin; granddaughter, Stacey (Sean) Williams of Crest Hill, IL; granddaughter, Ekaterina (Jason) Gehringer of Carpentersville, IL; one great grandson, Brandon Gehring; and one sister, Alice Deerhamer of WI.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael in 1956 and one daughter, Adrianne Jack.
Funeral services will be private. Arrangements were entrusted to Madison Funeral Home (847)741-1128.
Mary Ciaccio
Mary Ciaccio, 100, of Elgin, passed away April 1, 2004 in Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin. She was born on April 16, 1903 in Italy and was the daughter of Sam and Frances Sorce.
She attended St. Thomas More Catholic Church.
She is survived by seven children, John Ciaccio of Port St. Lucie, FL, Sam (Marilyn) Ciaccio of Elgin, IL, Frank (Harriet) Ciaccio of Elgin, IL, Joseph (Marietta) Ciaccio of Tuscon, AZ, JoAnne (James) Jochum of Elgin, IL, James (Patti) Ciaccio of Myrtle Beach, SC, Richard (Doris) Ciaccio of Little Rock, AR; 27 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Carm Levey of Los Angeles, CA; one brother, Sam (Frances) Sorce of Sarasota, FL.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Sam in 1982; one son, Peter John Ciaccio in 1977; one grandson, Mark Ciaccio in 1977; a daughter-in-law, Florence Ciaccio in 2003; one brother and two sisters.
Funeral Mass will be held on Monday at 10:00 a.m. in the St. Thomas More Catholic Church of Elgin, with Rev. Andrew Hougan officiating. Burial will be in Bluff City cemetery, Elgin. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 3-7:00 p.m. in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin and on Monday in the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. Memorials may be made to the St. Thomas More Building Fund or a charity of one's choice.
Lorranie M. Dunlap
Lorraine M. Dunlap, 85, of Downers Grove, formerly of Carpentersville, died Friday, April 2, 2004 at the Resthaven of Downers Grove. She was born on June 28, 1918 in Chicago, the daughter of Otto H. and Nothberga (nee Engerizer) Lubeck. Mrs. Dunlap was a former resident of the Carpentersville area for over 40 years. She was a former 25 year employee of the Dundee Township Public Library and was a member of the Dundee Township Senior Citizens Organization and of St. Monica Catholic Church.
She is survived by her children, Patricia M. (Douglas) Aniballi of Lombard and Michael (Joyce) Dunlap of Burlington; her grandchildren, Debbie (Jeff) Kinney of Lombard, David (Laura) Aniballi of Darien, Heather (Steve Goebel of Aurora, Tracey Dunlap of Gilberts and Megan Dunlap of Chicago; five great grandchildren; and two step brothers, Eugene (Gail) Lenard and Erwin (Carol) Lenard.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Louis E. Dunlap on May 3, 2000; and a step brother, Lawrence Lenard.
Funeral Services will be on Tuesday at 10 AM in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee. Burial will follow in the Dundee Township East cemetery, East Dundee.
