Edna D. Ritt
Edna D. Ritt, 97, of Elgin, IL, formerly of Algonquin, IL, died Monday, April 7, 2003 at Manor Care Nursing Home, Elgin.
She was born June 29, 1905 in Algonquin, IL, to Herman and Mary (Kublank) Dehmlow.
Edna was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Algonquin and the Algonquin Senior Citizens. She had worked for D. Hill Nursery in West Dundee for 44 years.
Survivors include her son, Ronald Ritt of Algonquin; her daughter, Mary Jean (Gerard) Justen of McHenry; three grandchildren, Carolyn Justen and Kenneth Justen and Michael Ritt of Queen Creek, AR; and two great grandchildren, C.J. and Marie LeVan and a nephew, Roger Wilbrandt of Springfield, VA.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gordon on July 26, 1956; three sisters, Marie Wilbrandt, Laura Browne and her twin sister, Erna Knight; and her brother, Ortwin Dehmlow.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, April 10, 2003 at 11 AM in the Wait Ross Allanson Algonquin Chapel with both Rev. Rollin Kuznik and Rev. William Stroup officiating. Burial will be in Algonquin cemetery.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, April 9 between 5 and 8 PM at the chapel.

Wanda L. Young
Wanda L. Young, 76, of Christopher, IL, formerly of Elgin, died Monday, April 7, 2003 at Benton Health Care Center, Benton, IL. She was born August 23, 1926 in Elgin, IL, the daughter of James Lee and Jennie Lynn (Kible) Stewart. Wanda had worked at Hoffer Plastics in S. Elgin for many years before retirement.
She is survived by three children: Dennis (Irene) Stewart of Elgin, Linda (Frank) Arnold of Sesser, IL and James (Carol) Young Sr. of Elgin, seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren, one sister, Mary Noel of S. Elgin and a brother, Melvin (Marlene) Stewart of Wisconsin.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Earl, grandsons Rodney Bailey and James Young Jr. and five sisters, Eithel Reddersdorf, Myrtle Young, Burley Simpson, Jennie Mae Stewart and Hazel Reed.
Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2003 at 1 p.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1111 Van Street, Elgin, IL 60123. Visitation will be at noon until time of service at the church. Burial will be private.
Donald John Anderson
Donald John Anderson, 85, passed away February 23, 2005 at his Weslaco, TX home. He was born September 4, 1919 in Burlington, IL.
He resided in Burlington, IL until his retirement. His retirement years were spent happily in Texas in the Rio Grande Valley.
He was a World War II veteran, retiree of Central School District 301, Burlington, IL. He was a 50+ year member of the Masons. Over the years, he was a Burlington volunteer fireman, active in the VFW, and in retirement an avid pool player.
Surviving are Dorothy, his wife of 57 years; two sons, Jerry (Barbara) of Bloomington, IL and John of Kennedale, TX; seven grandchildren, Scott, Paw Paw, MI, Gregory, Ft. Wayne, IN, Matthew, Poland, OH, Jeremiah, St. Ignas, MI, James, Donna and Kelly of Kennedale, TX; and seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Edna Highland, Kenosha, WI; sister-in-law, Mary Pearson, Sycamore, IL; and many nieces and nephews.
One son, Charles W.; his parents; and five brothers preceded him in death.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Burlington Methodist Church, Burlington, IL on April 15 at 11:30. Memorials in his memory may be donated to the Burlington Methodist Church.

Edward R. Besler, 74, of Elgin, IL passed away on April 3, 2005 at The Fountains of Crystal Lake.
Born June 19, 1930 in Chicago to the late Edward and Stella Besler. Edward married
Helen P. Dobrezeniecki September 5, 1953 in Chicago. He retired after 31 years with Eaton Corp. in Crystal Lake, IL. He was a member of The Knights of Clumbus.
Survived by daughter, Cathleen (Edmund) Warchal of Island Lake, IL; sons, Thomas (Cindy) Besler of Wonder Lake, IL, David (Anne) Besler of Bloomington, IL, Daniel (Donna) Besler of Woodstock, IL, Richard (Judy) Besler of Wonder Lake, IL; grandchildren, Abby and Michael Warchal, Margaret, Patrick, Colleen, Kalley, Molly, Carly and Emily Besler; one brother, Leonard (late Florence) Besler of Westchester, IL; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial Mass will be held at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, Routes 31 & 72 in West Dundee, IL on Monday, April 11, 2005 at 10:00 AM. Catherine LaVerne Brettman (nee Freund)
Catherine LaVerne Brettman (nee Freund), 88, of Oswego, formerly of Elgin, died Friday, April 8, 2005 at her home. She was born March 8, 1917 in Chicago, the daughter of Christian and Josephine (nee Glaser) Freund. Cathie was a past Worthy Matron of the Rosedale Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, and also a member and past President of the Dolphins of Medinah Country Club.
She is survived by her son, Orville H. (Anne) Brettman of Huntley; and her daughter, Susan M. (Glenn) Posmer of Oswego; six grandchildren, Heather (Buckey) Weiss, Derek (Gina) Brettman, Tara Marski, Britt Posmer, Tiffany Jernigan and Amanda Brettman; eight great grandchildren, Tory and Haley Ream, Faith Weiss, Tyler, Joseph and Brandon Jernigan, Paul Joseph "P.J." and Grace Marski; her friends, Alice, Brenda and Tom Hess, Sandi Bizik, Jill and Glagys Stevenson and Dorothy Masterson. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Orville on April 19, 1984. They married
on June 22, 1940.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday at 10 AM in the St. James Episcopal Church, 516 Washington Street in West Dundee with the Rev. James Swarthout officiating. Following cremation, Cathie will be interred in the St. James Churchyard cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday from 6 to 9 PM in the church. Linda Marie Fernandez
Linda Marie Fernandez, age 35, of Elgin, died Thursday, April 7, 2005 at Provena St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin. She was born October 28, 1969 in San Antonio, TX, the daughter of George and Juana Fernandez Vega.
Funeral Services will be held at 7:00 PM, Monday, April 11, 2005 at Wait Ross Allanson Funeral and Cremation Services Chapel, 51 Center St., Elgin. Rev. Joseph Kulak will officiate. Burial will be private. Visitation will be from 3:00 PM, until the time of service.
Linda is survived by her father in San Antonio, TX; a daughter, Yvette Fernandez of Elgin; three brothers, Rubin Fernandez of Elgin, George (Evelyn) and Elijah Vega, both of San Antonio, TX; four sisters, Jeanette (Roberto) Chagella, Estella Fernandez, Diana Fernandez, all of Elgin, and Veronica Vega of San Antonio, TX; and her maternal grandmother, Oralia Villanueva of Elgin.
She was preceded in death by her mother, paternal grandparents, and maternal grandfather.
Charles D. Gibson
Charles D. Gibson, 62, of Elgin died Thursday, April 7, 2005 in his home. He was born January 18, 1943 in Amherstdale, WV, the son of Cecil and Mary (Brown) Gibson. Charles was the owner of Gibson's Mobile Home Service in Elgin.
Survivors include his mother of Elgin; his wife, Beatrice, whom he married
April 24, 1999; a son, Todd (Tammy) of Elgin, IL; a daughter, Renee (John) Loughlin of Gary, IL; four brothers, John, Scott (Charlotte), James (Jan) and Harold all of Elgin; a sister, Rose Talbot of Newell, WV; and four grandchildren, Daniel, Kayla and Christina Gibson and Browyn Loughlin.
He was preceded in death by his father, his first wife, Shirley Ann (Hoosier) Gibson, whom he married
June 21, 1962 and who died October 2, 1995. Also preceding him in death were three brothers, Earl, Paul and Gary; and two sisters, Janice Gibson and Sandra Queen.
Funeral services will be held Monday, April 11, 2005 at 11 AM at Wait-Ross-Allanson Funeral & Cremation Services Chapel, Elgin with Pastor Bryan M. Garfield officiating. Burial will be in River Hills Memorial Park, Batavia, IL. Visitation will be held Sunday from 5 to 9 PM in the funeral chapel.

Judith Ann Piekarz (nee Wolff), of Wheaton, formerly of Chicago and Bartlett, died April 8, 2005 in Winfield. Born January 13, 1944 in Aurora, IL. She was a representative of French Student exchange organizations and a member of the Red Hat Society. She loved her family and loved introducing exchange students to the Chicago area. Who is going to look after us now? She graduated from St. Edwards High School in Elgin.
Beloved wife of Ronald; loving mother of Gregory and Nicole Piekarz; dearest sister of George Wolff; and fond cousin of many.

Barbara A. Sundwall
Barbara A. Sundwall, 62, of Elgin died Friday, April 8, 2005 at Sherman Hospital in Elgin. She was born in Chicago on July 1, 1942, the daughter of James and Rose (nee Popiele) Chambers. Barb was a 29 year resident of the area. She attended the New Life Community Church of Elgin. She was a member of the Woodstock Women of the Moose.
She is survived by her children, Michael C. Chambers and Jamie S. Sundwall both of West Dundee; and a niece, Kellie (David Plesha) Sullivan of Brookfield. Many good and faithful friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her sister, Eileen Sullivan.

Carol S. Verborn
Carol S. Verborn, 60, lifelong resident of Elgin died Friday, April 8, 2005 at Sherman Hospital, Elgin. She was born on December 11, 1944 in Elgin, the daughter of the late Elwin and Loretta Held Sly. On November 14, 1987, in Streamwood, IL, she married
Joseph C. Verborn Sr. who died on November 8, 2001. Carol was a retired secretary from the Elgin Mental Health Center.
Surviving are two step children, Michael (Debra) Verborn and Michele Verborn; two step grandchildren, Michael Jr and Matthew; two sisters, Dayle (Jon) Nelson and Georgia (Leonard) Schmit. She was also preceded in death by a step son, Joseph Jr; and a step daughter, Denise.
Funeral services will be 10 AM Monday, April 11, 2005 at Immanuel United Church of Christ, 1500 Old Church Road, Streamwood, IL, 60107 with Rev. Kimberly Wood officiating. Burial will be private at Dundee Township East cemetery.

Lillian Mae Innis, 78, of West Dundee, formerly of Carpentersville, IL died Saturday, April 5, 2003 after a long illness. She was a strong woman who enjoyed being with family and friends and caring for others. She enjoyed watching sports, playing cards, doing crossword puzzles and was a wonderful cook. She loved and was loved by many. She will be deeply missed by all.
She was the beloved wife of the late Beuran Davis Innis, loving mother of Butch (Mary), Patrick (Sandy), Sharon (Ron), Sue (Dean), Judy, Cindy, Dale (Lisa), loving grandmother of 19, great grandmother of 19, daughter of Sylvia, sister of Paul (Irene), Frank (MaryAnn), Dollie (Gary).
She was preceded in death by her father, Paul, loving son Michael and loving daughter Alice (Gordie), brother John and his wife Judy and son-in-law Warren Parker.

Leslie A. "Les" Martin
Leslie A. "Les" Martin, 73, of Hampshire, formerly of Elgin, passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2003 in his home.
He was born June 2, 1929 in Elgin, the son of Leslie and Nora (Harmening) Martin. Les was a 1947 graduate of Elgin High School and was a Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Martin was a longtime sales rep for the Nabisco Co. He has been a Hampshire resident for over 25 years and a member of the American Legion Post #680 and Amvets Post #91, both of Hampshire. He enjoyed camping, golf and spending winters in Arizona.
Surviving are three daughters, Jan (Michael) Schier of East Dundee, Jane (Tony) Ambroso of Crystal Lake and Jodi (Bruce) Farris of Woodstock; his mother, Nora Martin of Delavan, WI.; six grandchildren, Megan and Scott Schier, Kyle and Becky Ambroso, Walter and Abigail Farris; sisters, Marilyn (William) Yurs of Elkhorn, WI., Ann Flint of Billings, Montana; and a brother, Dean (Carol) Martin of Scottsdale, AZ.
He was preceded in death by his father; and one brother, Wesley in infancy.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM Saturday, April 12, 2003 at the Fredrick Funeral Home, 284 Park St., Hampshire. Burial with military honors will be in the Hampshire Center cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 PM Friday at the funeral home.
