Virginia Napieralski
Virginia Napieralski, 92, of Elgin, formerly of Chicago, passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2003 in her home. She was born May 29, 1910 in Chicago, the daughter of Anna and Joseph Januchowski. She had been a resident of Chicago for most of her life and had been a resident of Elgin since 1982. She had been employed as chief telephone operator at Republic Steel Co. before retiring. She will be remembered for her volunteer work at St. Thomas More Parish, Provena St. Joseph Hospital and the Elgin Day Care Center.
Surviving are her daughter, Ursula (Edward) Sieracki of Elgin, grandchildren, Carole Sieracki, Ann (Jeff) Sittig, Edward (Susan) Sieracki Jr. and Jean Bonkoske, great grandchildren Katherine, Madeline, Margret, Ben and William and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Joseph Napieralski, sister Pearl Lesniewski and brother Joseph Januchowski.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, April 12, 2003 at 10:30 a.m. at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin to St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Elgin for Mass at 11 a.m. with Rev. Andrew Plesa officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross cemetery, Calument City. Visitation will be held Saturday from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at Laird Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Hospice of Northeastern Illinois or St. Thomas More School.
Randall R. Penrod
Randall R. Penrod, 45, of West Dundee passed away Sunday, April 6. He was born November 15, 1957 in Sycamore, the son of Vernie and Lora Lee Edwards Penrod. He grew up in Burlington and had been a resident of West Dundee for the past ten years. He had been employed in the construction trades.
Surviving are his wife, Christine, step son, Erik Gilley, mother, Lora Lee Penrod of Huntley, three brothers, Denny (RaeAnn) Penrod of Elgin, Gary (Kimberly) Penrod of Huntley and Rodney (Catherine) Penrod of Elgin, one sister, Marla Penrod (Don Banke) of Roscoe, eight nieces and nephews.

Memorial Services will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. Visitation will be held Saturday from 12 noon until the time of the services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Make A Wish Foundation.
William H. Steger
Mr. William H. Steger, 68, of Murfreesboro, TN passed away Thursday, April 10, 2003 at his home.
The son of the late James Harris and Alta Pearl Sherrod Steger.
Mr. Steger was a retired Naval Commander with the United States Navy having 23 years of service, a retired Captain with United Airlines after 30 years of service and a member of New Vision Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Glen-Lea Steger of Murfreesboro; two sons, Curtis (Jeri) Steger of Phoenix, AZ and Kenton "Chip" (Sherri) Steger of Murfreesboro, TN; a sister, Nettie Steger Sgroi of Downey, California; and grandchildren, Bethany Steger, Justin Steger, Jimmy Steger, Parker Steger and Preston Steger.
Memorial Services will be held at 4 PM Sunday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel, P.O. Box 636, Murfreesboro, TN, 37133-0636 with Rev. Mike Thomas officiating.

Catherine LaVerne Brettman (nee Freund)
Catherine LaVerne Brettman (nee Freund), 88, of Oswego, formerly of Elgin, died Friday, April 8, 2005 at her home. She was born March 8, 1917 in Chicago, the daughter of Christian and Josephine (nee Glaser) Freund. Cathie was a past Worthy Matron of the Rosedale Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, and also a member and past President of the Dolphins of Medinah Country Club.
She is survived by her son, Orville H. (Anne) Brettman of Huntley; and her daughter, Susan M. (Glenn) Posmer of Oswego; six grandchildren, Heather (Buckey) Weiss, Derek (Gina) Brettman, Tara Marski, Britt Posmer, Tiffany Jernigan and Amanda Brettman; eight great grandchildren, Tory and Haley Ream, Faith Weiss, Tyler, Joseph and Brandon Jernigan, Paul Joseph "P.J." and Grace Marski; her friends, Alice, Brenda and Tom Hess, Sandi Bizik, Jill and Glagys Stevenson and Dorothy Masterson. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Orville on April 19, 1984. They married
on June 22, 1940.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday at 10 AM in the St. James Episcopal Church, 516 Washington Street in West Dundee with the Rev. James Swarthout officiating. Following cremation, Cathie will be interred in the St. James Churchyard cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday from 6 to 9 PM in the church. Daniel P. Figgins
Daniel P. Figgins, 53, of Elgin, now home with his Lord, died in the line of duty, on Saturday, April 9, 2005. He was born on March 28, 1952 in Elgin and was the son of Paul and Marilyn Figgins. Daniel was a graduate of Larkin High School in 1970, and was a veteran of the St. Charles Police Force for 27 years. He was a wonderful loving and devoted husband, father, son and brother he will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He was an active member of the Christ Community Church of St. Charles, IL.
Survivors include his wife, Linda, to whom he was married
on August 12, 1972; two daughters, Kristin (Ryan) Dierking of St. Charles, IL, Hillary (Jonathan) Jarvis of Nashville, TN; his father, Paul Figgins of Elgin; four brothers, Ted (Peggy) Figgins of Surprise, AZ, Ron Figgins of Springfield, IL, Doug Figgins of Indianapolis, IN and Craig Figgins of Plainfield, IL; a sister, Anitalynn (Ky) Katz of Franklin Park, IL; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Marilyn on April 30, 2002.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 12, 2005 at 11 AM at Christ Community Church, 37W100 Bolcum Rd, St. Charles, IL, 60175. Burial will follow in Lakewood Memorial Park, Elgin, IL. Visitation will be on Monday at the church from 4 to 9 PM. Memorials may be made to Imagine Campaign for the children center at the church. Felix Martin Holder
Felix Martin Holder, 63, of Portia passed away Thursday, April 7, 2005 at the Ridgecrest Nursing and Rehab Center in Jonesboro following a lengthy illness.
Born November 24, 1941 in Minturn, AR, son of A.E. and Sarah McTilldy Burrow Holder. Mr. Holder moved to Elgin, IL where he was a grounds keeper for School District #30 and returned to Portia 10 months ago. Mr. Holder was of the Pentecostal belief.
Mr. Holder was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Sherman Holder, Dexter Holder and Eugene Holder; a sister, Leola Bellah; and two step brothers, Earl Chapple and Raymond Chapple.
Mr. Holder is survived by a son, Ken Holder of Portia; a daughter, Cindy Hough of Greenville, MS; three grandchildren, Billy Holder, Jack Cook and Heaven Hough; two great grandchildren; two sisters, Anna Jones of Ravenden and Freda Hamilton of Portia; a brother, Gary Holder of Woodburn, KY; and many other relatives and friends survive.
Funeral Services will be Monday, April 11, 2005 at 2 PM in the Bryan Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Roger Brand officiating. Interment will be in the Cross Roads cemetery near Portia under the direction of the Bryan Funeral Home of Hoxie. Visitation will be Sunday, from 4 til 7 PM at the Bryan Funeral Home in Hoxie.
Dorothy McKenzie Kraebber
Dorothy McKenzie Kraebber, 91, of Hot Springs Village, AR passed away Saturday, April 9, 2005 at her home. She was born October 4, 1913 in Elgin, IL. She was a member of the Village United Methodist Church, the Village Players, Symphony Guild, the Hikers, Founding member of the David A. & Edna E. McKenzie Scholarship Fund and the Alpha Phi-Northwestern Beta Chapter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, David Alexander and Mary Edna (Ellis) McKenzie.
Survivors include his daughter, Susan M. (Kraebber) Kraebber of Hot Springs Village, AR; three sons, James M. (Rosel) Kraebber of Paris, Henry W. (Sharon) Kraebber of West Lafayette, IN and Dr. David M. (Alice) Kraebber of Tryon, NC; seven grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, April 13, 2005 at 10 AM at the Village United Methodist Church with Rev. George A. Tanner officiating. Burial will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to David A. & Edna E. McKenzie Scholarship Fund at the Paul Bowie Boys & Girls Club.

Alice R. Prahl
Alice R. Prahl, 81, of East Dundee died Saturday, April 9, 2005 at Sherman Hospital in Elgin. She was born on March 30, 1924 in West Dundee. She was the daughter of Clarence and Louise (nee Krahn) Behm. She was a life long resident of the area and a life long member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in East Dundee. Prior to raising her children, she formerly worked at the Elgin Watch Co., and Haeger Pottery.
She is survived by her children, David Prahl of Carpentersville, Gloria Ziegler of East Dundee (formerly of Elgin), and Joy (Earl Jr) McNamara of East Dundee; two grandsons, Daniel McNamara and Joshua Ziegler; her brother, Carleton (Betty Jo) Behm of Carpentersville. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 24 years, Donald R. Prahl on May 31, 1974. They married
on July 2, 1949; and four brothers, Martin, Vernon, Lester and Raymond.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday at 10:30 AM in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee. The Rev. Bruce W. Meissner will officiate. Burial will follow in the Lakewood Memorial Park, Elgin. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 6:30 to 9:00 PM in the funeral home. Barbara A. Sundwall
Barbara A. Sundwall, 62, of Elgin died Friday, April 8, 2005 at Sherman Hospital in Elgin. She was born in Chicago on July 1, 1942, the daughter of James and Rose (nee Popiele) Chambers. Barb was a 29 year resident of the Elgin area. She attended the New Life Community Church of Elgin. She was a member of the Woodstock Women of the Moose.
She is survived by her children, Michael C. Chambers and Jamie S. Sundwall both of West Dundee; and a niece, Kellie (David Plesha) Sullivan of Brookfield. Many good and faithful friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her sister, Eileen Sullivan.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday at 7:30 PM in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee. Burial will be private. Visitation will be on Monday from 4 to 9 PM in the funeral home. Please omit flowers, memorials may be made to the Sherman Hospital Cancer Care Clinic.
Pauline Anderson
Pauline Anderson, 83, of Hot Springs, Ark. died Monday, April 9, 2001 in Arkansas.
She was born July 28, 1917 in Sunset, Texas, the daughter of John and Jessie Morris.
She was a retired school teacher with the Elgin School District and a member of the Church of Nazarene.
Survivors include a daughter, Pam (Howard) Jordi of Bellingham, Mass.; three sisters, Joan Sherrod of Greeley, Colo., Kay Holtschulte of Tacoma, Wash. and Margie (Carl) Olesen of Palisade, Colo.; and two grandsons, Matthew(Misty) Jordi of Yukon, Okla. and Mark (Katrina) Jordi of Willington, Conn.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Anderson; two sisters, LucilleBaliko and Vergie Allen; and two brothers, Calvin Morris and John Morris Jr.

Mayme "May" Carrozza
Mayme "May" Carrozza, 97, of Elgin, passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2001 in the Rosewood Care Center following a brief illness.
She was born March 10, 1904 in Casa de Costello, Italy, the daughter of Marina and Marino Battistelli.
May was a longtime resident of Chicago before moving to Elgin to live with her daughter. She was much loved as "Grandma May" filling many lives with joy and laughter. She was surrounded by her loved ones at the time of her death.
Survivors include a daughter, Jeanette (Manny) Dominguez of Elgin; four grandchildren, Betty (Bill) Molitor, Mary Lou Hawley, John (Christina) Dominguez and Steve (Risa) Dominguez; and 12 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rocco Carrozza; and four brothers, Danny, George, John and Joe.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Friday in the Grace Evangelical Church, 1800 Bowes Rd., Elgin, the Rev. David Boyer officiating. Burial will be in Bluff City cemetery.
Visitation will be 9:30 a.m., Friday until the time of services in the church. Laird Funeral Home, Elgin is in charge of arrangements.

Alexander Quarrie, Jr.
Alexander Quarrie, Jr., 81, of Carpentersville died Tuesday, April 10, 2001 at Sherman Hospital, Elgin.
He was born in St. Helens, England on Sept. 8, 1919 the son of Alexander and Ellen Quarrie.
He was a 27 year resident of the area and a WW II U.S. Army Veteran.
Survivors include a son, ThomasQuarrie of McHenry; a daughter of Grace (Earl) Katzel of Elgin; four grandchildren, Bryan (Sarah) Katzel, Sarah Quarrie, Steve Katzel and Erik Quarrie; a sister, Grace Edwards; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Muriel; and three brothers, Willie, Phillip "Red" and Ron.
Funeral services will be in the Miller Funeral Home on Friday, April 13 at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Dundee Township East cemetery, East Dundee.
Visitation will be 4-9 p.m., Thursday in the funeral home.
