Josephine Catherine Errera
Josephine Catherine Errera (nee Aurigemma), of Streamwood, IL since 1960 passed away Tuesday, February 10, 2004 in St. Alexius Medical Center, Hoffman Estates, IL. She was born February 28, 1920 in Chicago, IL.
Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Salvatore J. Errera; her sons, Ronald of Chicago, IL, Salvatore (Christine) of Crystal Lake, IL, Dennis Michael (Darlene) of AZ and Robert (Sharon) of Elgin, IL; daughter, MaryAnne Ely of CA; grandchildren, Nicholas Errera, Michael and Jasmine Ely, and Heather Marquez; great grandchildren, Cierra and Alyssa Marquez and Jisella Santiago; her siblings, Pete Aurigemma, Mary Samson, Phylis (Albert) Johnson and the late Danny, Mike, Rose and Theresa; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, February 13, 2004 at 8:45 AM in the Countryside Funeral Home, 1640 Greenmeadows Blvd. (at Barrington Rd.), Streamwood/Schaumburg to St. John the Evangelist Church for a 9:30 AM Mass. Visitation will be held from 3 to 9 PM Thursday February 12 in the funeral home.
Donations made to St. John the Evangelist Church, 506 Parkside Circle, Streamwood, IL, 60107 would be appreciated.

Walter Herman Geske
Walter Herman Geske, 91, of Whitewater, Wis., formerly of Elgin passed away Sunday, February 8, 2004 at Fairhaven Retirement Community, Whitewater. He was born September 21, 1912 in Fall Creek, Wisconsin the son of Henry and Emilie Stlter Geske.
Walter worked at the A & P Grocery Store in Elgin. He married Catherine Schroeder Leanna on Oct. 23, 1986.
He owned a summer home in Eagle River, Wis. and enjoyed his time fishing in Wisconsin. He was an avid Muskie and Walleye fisherman, and a self taught taxidermist. He had numerous fish mounts in his home.
He was a 50 year member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 799 of Elgin.
Surviving are his wife Catherine, daughter M.K. Bradshaw of Elgin, son Ronald (Peggy) Geske of Florissant, Colo. Three granddaughters; Katrina Schroeder of Elgin, Beth Geske of Security, Colo. and Michelle Payne of Colorado Springs, Colo. Five great-grandchildren; Natasha, Joseph, Tiffany, Kendra and Kasside. Step son Raymond (Shirley) Leanna of Palmyra, Wis. Step daughter Karen (Larry) Magnuson of Cameron, Wis. Five step grandchildren; Randy (Anne) Leanna, Sheri (Mike) Peardon, Mary Leanna, Ron (Hope) Rendell and Rich Rendell and 13 step great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a twin brother, Henry at birth and five sisters.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, Feb. 12, 2004 at 12:00 NOON at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery, Woodstock. Visitation will be held Thursday from 9:30 A.M. until the time of services in the funeral home.

Evelyn C. Harnish
Evelyn C. Harnish, 89, of Scottsdale, Arizona, former many year resident of West Dundee, died Friday, February 6, 2004 at the Scottsdale Healthcare Hospital. She was born in Palatine on February 6, 1915, the daughter of Louis and Amanda Sophie (nee Freeman) Luerssen.
She is survived by her children, Richard (Winona) Harnish of Scottsdale and Shirley Munch of Schaumburg; a brother, Warren (Mary) Luerssen of Island Lake; sisters, Pearl Krueger of Algonquin, Ruth Eggerton and Frances Ritt; four grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter J. "Barney" Harnish of February 23, 1993; and her brother, James Luerssen.
Funeral Services will be on Thursday at 11 AM in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee. The Rev. Steve Simon will officiate. Private burial will be in the Dundee Township East cemetery, East Dundee. Visitation will be on Thursday from 10 AM until the time of service. Please omit flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Eugene E. Stemwedel
Eugene E. Stemwedel, 62, of Elgin passed away suddenly Friday, February 6, 2004 at his home. He was born June 9, 1941 in Elgin, Illinois, the son of Elmer and Muriel King Stemwedel. He had been a resident of Elgin all his life and had lived in Eagle Heights for 42 years. He had been employed by C & R Industries in Elgin for 45 years as a tool and die maker.
He was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Elgin. He was a member of the I.O.O. F and Rebekahs. He was active in Boy Scouts with Troop 10, the Hiawatha Dancers and was an Eagle Scout and a loyal member of the Order of The Arrow. He was Former President of Local 221 and Joint Board Manager. He helped spearhead the DARE Program.
Survivors include his son-Emmet E. (Carol) Stemwedel of Elgin; two grandchildren-Jillian and Brandon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife-Evelyn Niemeier Stemwedel in 2002.
Memorial services will be held Friday, February 13 at 12:00 NOON at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Elgin with Rev. Thomas O'Connor officiating. The Odd Fellows and Rebekahs will conduct services during the memorial services. Burial will be private in Bluff City cemetery, Elgin. Laird Funeral Home, Elgin is in charge of arrangements.

Margaret Mary "Mara" (Schafer) Zoellick
Margaret Mary "Mara" (Schafer) Zoellick, 46, of Menahga, MN., was welcomed into God's hands after a valiant battle with cancer on January 31, 2004.
She is survived by her loving husband, Steven Lloyd Zoellick; daughter, Stephanie Margaret (Steven) Domski and grandson, Tristan Steven Domski, all of Menahga, MN; her mother, Regina Galaher; sisters, Mary (John) Maier and Yvonne (Steven) Xagas; brothers, William (Sylvia) Schafer, John (Felecia) Schafer, James Schafer, Joseph (Debi) Schafer, Thomas (Betsy) Schafer, Brian (Anita) Melody; her loving in-laws, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and many friends.
She was preceded in her journey by her father, Clayton S. Schafer; and step-father, Marshall R. Galaher.
Mara was a kind and gentle soul who had a smile and concern for everyone she met. Her love of people, sense of humor and caring manner made her the light of her family's life. We miss her dearly.
A Celebration of her life will take place at 2:00 PM Friday, February 20, 2004 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Crystal Lake, IL., followed by a gathering at the LaBahn-Hain House, 149 Hilltop Drive in Lake in the Hills, IL.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to: St. Joseph Hospice, 600 Pleasant Avenue, Park Rapids, MN. 56470.

Anita R. Vento (nee Di Silvestro)
Anita R. Vento, nee Di Silvestro of Bloomingdale, passed away.
She was the beloved wife of Dr. Elio G. Devoted mother of Dr. Elio M. (Becky), and Annette (Andrew) Sosnowski. Dear sister of Angela (Ernest) Santangelo. Dear grandmother of Leah, Elio Jr., Laura Vento and Blake and Chrissy Sosnowski.
Funeral 9:00 a.m. at Salerno's Rosedale Chapels, 450 Lake St., Roselle, 60172 (3/4 mile west of Bloomingdale/Roselle Rd.) to St. Isidore Church.

Philip M. Kirmse
Philip M. Kirmse, 79, of Elgin passed away Thursday, February 9, 2006 at Rosewood Care Center, Elgin after a long battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. He was born April 2, 1926 in Elgin, the son of Edward and Madolyn Dwyer Kirmse. He had been a resident of the Dundee and Elgin area all of his life and was a graduate of Dundee Community High School, Class of 1944, and attended the University of Illinois. He had been employed by the First National Bank of Elgin and then Beacon Hill Insurance Co. in Elgin before retiring. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army in the 161st Infantry as a Staff Sergeant. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Elgin and a member and Past Exalted Ruler of Elks Lodge #737 of Elgin. Phil was an avid gardener, self-proclaimed lousy golfer and an active volunteer in the Elgin area.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Ann Hilton Kirmse, whom he married on June 10, 1950; five children, Linda (Mike) Stark of Flagstaff, AZ, P. Robert Kirmse of Elgin, Brian (Bonnie) Kirmse of Elgin, Barbara (Roger) Williams of Scottsdale, AZ and Mary Sue Kirmse of Elgin; four grandsons, Dan and David Kirmse and Jared and Joseph Hanson; a brother, Jerry Kirmse of Carpentersville; four sisters, Katherine (Thomas) McEnerney of East Dundee, Janice (John) White of Michigan City, IN, Mary Dougherty of Carpentersville and Helen (William) Menke of Rockford; a sister-in-law, Phyllis Kirmse of East Dundee; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, John "Jack" and Edward "Babe" Kirmse.
Family and friends may meet at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Elgin for Mass at 10 AM Monday, February 13. Burial will follow in St. Mary's cemetery, Gilberts. Visitation will be held Sunday from 3 to 8 PM at Wait Ross Allanson Funeral & Cremation Services Chapel, Elgin and Monday from 9:30 AM until the time of Mass in the church. Alice D. Bielenberg
Alice D. Bielenberg, age 80, of Hampshire, IL., formerly of Elgin, died unexpectedly at her home, Friday morning, February 8, 2002. She was born July 2, 1921, in Chicago, IL., the daughter of Carl E. and Alice (Schwickerath) Pfister.
Following her graduation from High School, Alice attended Northwestern University. She was united in marriage to Robert H. Bielenberg Jr. in 1948 and they made their home in Mundelein for a time until 1952 when they moved to Elgin.
In 1986, they moved to Hampshire where Robert passed away in 1988. In the years that followed, she continued to make her home in Hampshire near her daughter, Judy.
Alice was a life-long advocate of Girl Scouting, and was active in the Sybaquay Girl Scouts for many years. She was also a member of the House and Garden Club of Elgin and the Wild Thyme Herbalists of St. Charles. An independent woman all of her life, Alice possessed a self-confident grace that made her outwardly tough yet inwardly tender. A woman for all seasons, she was as unsinkable as she was unforgettable.
She is survived by two daughters, Judy (Edward) Dowling of Hampshire, IL., and Lonnie Gill of Plato Center, IL., as well as one granddaughter, DiDi Dowling of Hampshire.
Alice joins now her husband, Robert Bielenberg and her beloved granddaughter, Melanie Gill, who preceded her in death.
There will be no public services, however, a memorial has been established to perpetuate her memory. Gifts in her name and remembrances of her life may be mailed to the family in care of P.O. Mamie M. Branigan
Mamie M. Branigan was born on July 1, 1931 in Hatyi, MO. to Mack and Emma McIntire. She departed her life on Thursday, February 7, 2002 at her home in Elgin, IL after a long illness at the age of 70.
Mamie was employed by Olympic Control of Elgin for many years. She was married to the late Tilford Branigan Jr.
Family that preceded her in death her father, Mack McIntire and mother, Emma McIntire; four sisters, Maxana, Daisy, Ethel and Mary; and three brothers, Mack Jr, James and Jessie.
She leaves to cherish her memory her sons, Herschel Holland Jr. of Elgin and Bill (Brenda) Holland Sr. of Carpentersville; four grandsons, Billy Ray Holland Jr., Andre DeFrank Holland, Dominque Lee Holland and Julius Izaak Holland; three granddaughters, Jasmine Nicole Holland, Kenosha Rashad Holland and Alea Skye Holland; and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be Tuesday, February 12, 2002 at 10 AM in the Madison Funeral Home. Burial will be in Bluff City cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 PM Monday in the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the family.

Petra Castro
Petra Castro, 75, of St. Charles, died at her home Friday, February 8, 2002. She was born April 16, 1926 in Cardenas, Mexico, the daughter of Faustino and Simona (Granada) Martinez.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Elgin. Petra was pleased to say that for her, a great accomplishment in her life was raising nine children, as well as becoming a friend to her adult children. She delighted in becoming a grandmother and being involved in their lives. Petra enjoyed Mexican folk-tales, her flower garden and was known as a great cook.
Mrs. Castro is survived by her children, Alejo (Elaine) Castro of Bernie, MO., Juanita (Thomas) Benavidez of St. Charles, Severo Castro, Jr., of St. Charles, David Castro of Woodstock, John Castro of St. Charles, Regina (Mark) Morgan of St. Charles, Carol (Charles) Walker of South Elgin, Belen (Larry) Hood of St. Charles and Patsy Castro of South Elgin; 15 grandchildren; seven great grandchilren; her sisters, Consuelo, Josefina, Maria and Anita Martinez and one brother, Pedro Martinez, all of Mexico.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Castro was preceded in death by her husband, Severo Castro on december 12, 1999 and two brothers, Vidal and Ismael Martinez.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, February 11, 2002 at St. Patrick Church, 408 Cedar Street, St. Charles, with Fr. Joseph B. Linster, celebrant. Burial will be in River Hills Memorial Park, Batavia.
Visitation will be held from 3-5 pm, Sunday, February 10, 2002, at the Norris Funeral Home, 100 South Third Street, St. Charles, where the Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm. A closing prayer service will be held at 7:45 pm, with Capt. Todd Thielke officiating. Contributions in Mrs. Castro's memory may be made to VNA Hospice, 1245 Corporate Blvd, Aurora, IL 60505 or to the Salvation Army, P.O. Box 3939, St. Charles, IL 60174.

Lora L. (Kellum) Donovan
Lora L. (Kellum) Donovan, 46, of St. Charles, formerly of Elgin, passed away Wednesday, February 6, 2002 in Sherman Hospital. She was born January 21, 1956 in Elgin and was the daughter of Richard and Jean (Pryde) Kellum.
Lora had worked for AT & T for 23 years. She had attended the Fox Valley Christian Church of Batavia, IL.
Survivors include her husband, Daniel Donovan of St. Charles, IL; four children, Matthew (Danielle) Romero of South Elgin, IL, Jeremy Romero of St. Charles, IL, Angela Richter and Michael Richter both of St. Charles, IL; two step-children Bill and Melanie Donovan of Evergreen Park, IL; one granddaughter Kayla Estes of South Elgin, IL; her mother Jean (Thomas) Carrick of Elgin; sister Kathy (Tony) Kellum Szpekowski of Aurora, IL; two nieces Jennifer (Joe) Kendle and Alison Musaraca and one nephew Jake Cantu.
She was preceded in death by her father Richard Kellum and Grand Parents Paul and Ruth Pryde.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 11, 2002 at 10:00 am in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. Burial will be in Bluff City cemetery, Elgin. Visitation will be on Sunday from 3-9 pm in the Funeral Home. For information please call 1-847-741-8800.

Walter A. Filson
Age 82, of Poplar Grove, passed away Saturday, February 2, 2002. He was born on January 4, 1920 in Castalia, OH to Jesse and Mary (Mears) Filson.
Walter married Eva Robertson on April 7, 1951 in Chicago. He was a Letter Sorter for the U.S. Postal Service for over 30 years. He was also in the U.S. Army, serving in the South Pacific during WWII.
Walter is survived by his wife, Eva; three daughters, Mary (David) Butts of Genoa, Helen Minnick of Loves Park and Gayle Heckel of Garfield, AR; one son, Thomas (Janice) McPhillips of Poplar Grove; three sisters, Virginia Stawick of Joliet, Harriet Bryant of Joliet and Marion (Robert) Mitchell of Tucson, AZ. Also survived by 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial Services will be at 11:00 AM Monday, February 11, 2002 in the Chapel of Memories in Highland Garden of Memories, 9700 Route 76, Belvidere, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Heart Association would be appreciated. Arrangements made by:
