Leona A. Richards
Leona A. Richards, 84, of Carpentersville died Friday, April 12, 2002 at Sherman Hospital in Elgin.
She was born in Chicago on January 20, 1918, the daughter of Karl and Caroline Zondlak.
Leona was a resident of the Dundee and Carpentersville areas for over 60 years. She was a former 20 years employee of Fellins Grocery Store, West Dundee and The Russ Buhrmann IGA in East Dundee for eight years. She was an active member of the St. Catherine of Siena Church in West Dundee and a former active member of the St. Monica Church, Carpentersville for many years. She was a long time member of the Dundee Township Senior Citizens Organization and was very active at the Dundee Township Senior Center.
She is survived by five children, Mary (Duane) Schuldt of Elgin, Roberta Benoit of Lake Forest, Judy (Gary) Enblom of Des Plaines, Robert Richards Jr of Carpentersville and Phyllis (Dennis) Browne of Algonquin; nine grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Richards Sr on September 2, 1980; and a brother, Sylvester Zondlak.
Funeral Mass will be on Tuesday at 10 AM in the St. Catherine of Siena Church, West Dundee with Rev. Richard Rosinski, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the Algonquin cemetery, Algonquin.
Visitation will be on Monday from 3 to 8 PM in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee and on Tuesday in church from 9 AM until the time of Mass.
Please omit flowers, memorials may be made to either the Dundee Township Senior Center or the Carpentersville Paramedics.
Mary Jane Ross
Mary Jane Ross, 53, of Somonauk, IL passed away Thursday, April 11, 2002 at her home.
She was born July 23, 1948 in Elgin, IL the daughter of Richard & Barbara Jean (Jorgenson) Marass. She married
Layton W. Ross on February 14, 1970 in Aurora, IL. She was a member of Union Congregational Church in Somonauk.
A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 16, 2002 at Union Congregational Church with Rev. James Gottwald officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family in Mary's name. Arrangements are entrusted to Turner Funeral Home in Somonauk, (815)498-2363.
She is survived by her father, Richard Marass of East Dundee, IL; her husband, Layton of Somonauk; two sons, Keven (Dawn) Ross of Tacoma, WA and Richard Ross of Earlville, IL; two daughters, Theresa (Kevin) Pinney of Sheridan, IL and Tracy (John) Ebdon of Houston, TX; 10 grandchildren; four step-sons, Duane Ross, Timothy Ross, Jeffrey Ross, and Benjamin Ross; and three sisters, Amy (Robert) Warneke of Palatine, IL, Eva (Paul) Blihovde of Palatine, IL and Laurie (Jeff) Christensen of Maple Park, IL.
She was preceded in death by her mother.
Charles Edward Crawford
Charles Edward Crawford, age 88, of Woodstock died in Valley HI Nursing Home on April 10, 2004. He was born February 26, 1916 in Chicago to James Howard and Ethel (Evanford) Hayson. Charles worked for many moving and storage companies and as Sales Manager and also at Dato Realtors of Carpentersville in Real Estate Sales.
Survivors include three sons, Kevin of Montana, Douglas (Karen) of Northbrook, and Gregory (Carmen) of Naperville; five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Velma.
Visitation will take place on Saturday, April 17, 2004 in Congregational Church of Algonquin, 109 Washington St., Algonquin, IL 60102 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Arrangements by HONQUEST FAMILY FUNERAL SERVICES, INC. 235 Main Street, Woodstock.
George C. Fahrenwald
George C. Fahrenwald, 68, of Elgin passed away Tuesday, April 13, 2004 at the University of Chicago Hospitals, Chicago. He was born August 25, 1935 in Chicago, the son of William and Emma Helwig Fahrenwald. He was a graduate of DePaul University, The Illinois Institute of Technology and also studied at the Art Institute of Chicago. He had been a resident of Elgin since 1969. He was a Mechanical Engineer with Motorola and a Project Engineer with Northrop-Grumman before retiring. After retirement, he founded GVK&K; Creations in Elgin and was also part owner of Carswell's Flooring, Inc. in Elgin. He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church of St. Charles, a founding member and secretary of Art for All and of the Great Books Discussion Group.
Surviving are his wife, Yvon "Vony" Fahrenwald; two children, Kirk Fahrenwald of Elgin and Kersten (Michael) Festa Jr. of Carpentersville; two step grandchildren, Ariana and Britney; a brother, William Junior (Hope) Fahrenwald of Schaumburg; a niece, Jo Anne (Paul) Ganziano; a nephew, Jeff (Linda) Fahrenwald; and a great nephew, Andy Fahrenwald.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Services will be held Friday at 11 AM at the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin with Rev. Carol Wasemiller officiating. Burial will be private. Visitation will be held Thursday from 5 to 8 PM in the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the charity of one's choice.
Richard Gierens
Richard Gierens, age 90 of Elgin, passed away Monday, April 12 at Tower Hill Health Center in South Elgin. He was born November 11, 1913 in Elgin. His parents were Peter and Rose Ryan Gierens.
He is survived by his wife, Florence.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one son, Richard, Jr., in 2002.
A private funeral service will be held at Madison Funeral Home, Elgin. Burial will be at Mt. Hope cemetery, Elgin.

Edward J. Hayes
Edward J. Hayes, 75, of Elgin passed away Sunday, April 11, 2004 at his home. He was born March 27, 1929 in Chicago, the son of Patrick and Bridgett Lawlor Hayes. He had been a resident of Streamwood for 30 years before moving to Tucson, AZ and returning to Elgin in 1999. He had been employed as a time study engineer before retiring. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Surviving are his two daughters, Carolyn (David) Christensen of Elgin and Janet Hayes of Fraser, Colo; and two sisters, Elizabeth (Charles) Egan of Lombard and Mary Hilla of Holden, Mass.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Mary Mikolajczak Hayes.
Funeral Services will be Saturday at 10 AM at The Laird Funeral Home, Elgin with Rev. Andrew Hougan officiating. Burial will be in Bluff City cemetery, Elgin. Visitation will be held Friday from 3 to 9 PM in the funeral home.
Allan F. Kalsow
Allan F. Kalsow, 93, of South Elgin passed away Sunday, April 11, 2004 in his home. He was born October 14, 1910 in Huntley, the son of John and Anna Kalsow. He had been a resident of South Elgin for 56 years. He had been employed as an accountant at the Elgin National Watch Co. for 18 years and then was Office Manager at Armin Tool in South Elgin for 18 years before retiring. He was a graduate of Huntley High School and the University of Illinois with a degree in Business Administration.
Surviving are his son, Stephen (Linda) Kalsow of Huntley; three grandchildren, Sandra (Rob) Moore, Jeff and Julie Kalsow; two great grandchildren, Robby Moore and Ryleigh Moore; a brother, Earl (Marcy) Kalsow of Huntley; a nephew, Thomas (Donna) Kalsow; and two nieces, Susan Melby and Joyce Freumd.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Nancy Whitcomb Kalsow on April 29, 2002; and two brothers, Norman and Robert Kalsow.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, April 16 at 1 PM at The Laird Funeral Home, Elgin with Chaplain Richard Gilbert officiating. Burial will be in South Elgin cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday from 4 to 6 PM in the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Mayo Clinic.
Jeanne M. McLoughlin
Jeanne M. McLoughlin, 84, of Elgin passed away Saturday, April 10, 2004 at Wynscape Health Care in Wheaton. She was born June 21, 1919 in Chicago, the daughter of Carl and Martha Homuth Lange.
She was a previous resident of Keenyville and Dundee. She lived at Burnhan Manor in Elgin for 13 years.
Survivors include six children; Terrance (Eileen) McLoughlin of St. Charles, Patricia (John) Kohler of Hampshire, Timothy (Denise) McLoughlin of Tampico, IL, Brian (Simone) McLoughlin of WI, Kevin (Deena) McLoughlin of Winfield, Shawn (Wendy) McLoughlin of St. Charles; fifteen grandchildren, John, Patti Ann, and Thomas Kohler, Justin McLoughlin, Ellen McLoughlin, Jason McLoughlin, Blake McLoughlin, Mara McLoughlin, Tracy McLoughlin, Shawna Jenen, Cory McLoughlin, Kyle McLoughlin, Shawn McLoughlin, Nicole Smith, and Michael McLoughlin; and 21 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bartholomew "Barney"; several sisters and brothers.
Funeral Mass will be Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Elgin with Fr. Geoffrey Wirth officiating. Burial will be private. Joyce Carol Northrop
Joyce Carol Northrop, 43, of Plato Center, IL passed away Sunday, April 11, 2004, after a long battle with cancer, in Provena St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin. She was born on June 3, 1960 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Theodore and Rosemary (Damico) Privitera. Joyce had been a Registered Nurse, and had worked at Alexian Brothers and Lutheran General Hospitals. She was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church of Elgin.
She is survived by her husband, James of Plato Center, whom she married
on August 21, 1993; a daughter, Adrianna Joy Northrop; her parents of Elk Grove Village, IL; a brother, Steven (Dina) Privitera of Des Moines, IA; a sister, Diane (Norman) Rankin of Western Springs, IL; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, April 16, 2004 at 10 AM in the St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Elgin (corner of Highland Ave. and St. Thomas More Dr.) with Rev. Andrew Hougan officiating. Burial will be in Queen of Heaven cemetery, Hillside, IL. Visitation will be on Thursday in the Cornerstone Methodist Church, 41W170 Russell Rd., Elgin, IL, 60123 from 4 to 9 PM and on Friday morning in the St. Thomas More Catholic Church from 9:15 AM until the time of services. Evelyn Schultz
Evelyn Schultz, 93, of Elgin passed away Sunday April 11, 2004 in the Heritage Manor, Elgin. She was born on May 28, 1910 in Gilberts, IL and was the daughter of Paul and Mary Kupitz Schultz. Evelyn had worked at D.C. Cook Publishing. Douglas Aircraft as "Rosie the Riveter", Toastmaster, and Motorola for many years prior to her retirement.
Member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Elgin.
Survivors include - many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by - Her Parents; 3 - Brothers - Walter, William, and Paul Schultz; 1 - Sister - Erma Parks; 4 - Step Brothers - Carl, Elmer, William, Leonard, and Gustav Genz; 1 - Step Sister - Marie Bendewald;

Isabell Simon
Isabell (Tur) (Beetle) (Mama) Simon passed away April 10, 2004. She was born in Huntsville, Alabama on July 22, 1915, to Lucy and Matthew Beadle.
She came to Arkansas when she was a little girl. Due to the demise of her mother, Tur was raised by her Great Uncle James Lewis. As an adult, she met and married
Mance Simon. From this union she had seven children. She was a dedicated mother who loved her children. Of the seven children in her household, she was the youngest. She grew up in a Christian home and confessed hope in Christ at an early age. She worked in the church as an usher and a Mother. When she came to Elgin she joined Second Baptist Church where she worked tirelessly until her health began to fade. Of the seven children, she was the youngest and she out lived all of them.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mance; brothers Arthel, Matthew, Nathaniel and James; her sister Ludeal; her daughters Vivian Floyd and Rosetta Perkins; her sons Julius and Mance, Jr. and 14 grandchildren.
She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter Bernice (Richard) Perry; her sons Sam Elton Miller, Matthew (Mattie), Leroy (Christine), Willie (Diane); 40 grandchildren; 135 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She will be remembered for her warm acceptance and love of people.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. on April 17, 2004 and service will begin at 11 a.m. at the Second Baptist Church, 1280 Summit Street, Elgin, IL.

Harry Thies
Harry Thies, 84 of Elgin, passed away on Monday, April 12, 2004 at his home. He was born July 3, 1919 in Schaumburg, IL, the son of Edward and Clara Flentge Thies.
Harry was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Elgin, and he was a member of the Elgin American Legion, Post #57.
He is survived by his wife, Lotty; two sisters-in-law, Elly (Late Austin) Mitchell of Elgin and Betty (Don) Ramsey of DeKalb; also several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Ella Lichthardt; and two brothers, George and Clarence Thies.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 15, 2004 at 1 p.m. at the Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park St., Elgin. Rev. Thomas O'Connor will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery. Visitation is Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. at the Madison Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul's United Church of Christ or Sherman Home Care Partners.
