Nolan D. Schiebout
Nolan D. Schiebout, 50, of West Dundee, passed away Thursday, April 12, 2001.
He was born Oct. 19, 1950 in Orange City, Iowa, the son of Abe and Nelvera Roos Schiebout.
He was Program Manager for Motorola in Arlington Heights. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He will be dearly missed by all that knew him. He was a member of Christ the Lord Lutheran Church, Elgin, where he sang in the choir.
Survivors include his wife, Annette, whom he married
on Oct. 4, 1975; two children, Jessen and Kyle; his parents of Orange City, Iowa; two sisters, Rev.Arlyce Schiebout of Canada and Dr. Denise (Joseph Dixon) Schiebout of Michigan; a brother, Firman (Cheryl) Schiebout of China; and nieces and nephews, Matt and Sara Schiebout, Janson and Christina LaBond and Benjamin, Thomas and Andrew Dixon.
Funeral Services will be 10 a.m., Thursday, at the Christ the Lord Lutheran Church (corner of Tina Tr. and W. Highland Ave.), Elgin, the Rev. Steven Srock officiating. Burial will be in River Valley Memorial Gardens, West Dundee.
Visitation will be 3-8 p.m., Wednesday in the Laird Funeral Home, 120 S. Third St. (Corner of S. Third and Oregon St.), West Dundee and on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services in the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family for the Schiebout Children's Education Fund.
Henry L. Uteg
Henry L. Uteg, 75, of East Dundee died Sunday, April 15, 2001 in his home.
He was born in Dundee on April 25, 1925 the son of Henry and Charlotte Uteg.
He was a lifelong resident of the area and a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of East Dundee. A 1943 graduate of Dundee Community High School, he received a B.S. from the University of Wisconsin in Mechanical Engineering. He was a licensed civil engineer and founded Henry L. Uteg & Assoc. in 1957. Henry was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII in the Pacific Theater. He was active in local Republican politics. Later he was a member of the Elgin Minuteman of Harmony.
Survivors include two daughters,Kathryn Edwards of Dundee and Laurel (Andy) Engelmann of Elgin; three sons, Robert (Molly) of Nashville, Tenn., Mark (Nancy) of Wheaton and John of Elgin; nine grandchildren; a brother, Robert (Marilyn) of Springfield, Ill.; a nephew, William Henry Uteg of San Diego, Calif. and his dear friend and partner, Faye Blake.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Donald P. "Sugar" Uteg.
Memorial funeral services will be 7 p.m., Wednesday in the Immanuel Lutheran Church of East Dundee, the Rev. William P. Yonker officiating. Burial will be private.
Family will receive friends from 5 p.m., Wednesday until the time of services in the church. Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the Immanuel Lutheran 2000 Fund or Fox Valley Hospice.
Inez E. VandeDrink
Inez E. VandeDrink, 87, of Elizabeth, Ill., died Sunday, April 15, 2001 at Elizabeth Nursing Home in Elizabeth.
Inez was born Feb. 9, 1914 at Terrapin Ridge, rural Elizabeth, Ill., the daughter of Raymond and Elizabeth "Lizzy" (Baumgartner) Bonjour.
She married
Harold VandeDrink on Jan. 21, 1931 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, in Rockford. Harold died on Oct. 4, 1995.
Inez farmed with her husband for many years until retiring and moving to Elizabeth in 1975. She was a member of the Church of St. Mary and the Hanover Altar and Rosay Society. She enjoyed gardening and taking care of her family.
Survivors include two sons, Kenneth (Maxine Anderberg) VandeDrink of Elgin and James (Marie Spates) VandeDrink of South Elgin; six grandchildren, Gregory, Douglas, Bradley VandeDrink, Cynthia (VandeDrink) Kummet, Lisa and Scott VandeDrink and seven great-grandchildren.
Inez was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; her parents; and a sister, Irene (Baumgartner) Mason.
Friends may call from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday at the Law-Jones Funeral Home in Elizabeth where a scripture service will be held at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, April 19, 2001 at the Church of St. Mary in Elizabeth, Father Christopher Kuhn will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
A memorial fund has been established.
Elvera A. Wente
Elvera A. Wente, 81, of Elgin, unexpectedly passed away on Monday, April 16, 2001 in St. Louis, Mo.
She was born April 8, 1920, the daughter of William and Emilie (Kruse) Heim in Schaumburg.
On May 11, 1947 she married
David G. Wente in Elgin. She retired as an Insurance Clerk at Sherman Hospital in 1986. She had worked at Grayline, Inc. and was very proud of her work as a legal secretary for Judge A.J. Strickman. She was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church for 68 years and served in the church nursery for 35 years.
Survivors include her husband of 53 years, David G. Wente of Elgin; children, Wayne (Doris) Wente of Seymour, Ind., Sandy (Jim) Lehn of St. Louis, Mo., Merri (Duane) Chapman of Columbia, Mo. and Lorie Mellen of St. Louis, Mo.; grandchildren, Rachel Chaney, Laura Wente, Allen Wente, Linda Ranken, Matthew Mellen, Emily Mellen, Betsy Lehn, Greg Lehn, Robby Lehn, Caleb Chapman, Nikia Chapman and Haley Chapman; great-grandchildren, Becky, Connor and Miles; and two sisters, Margaret Riedl of Hampshire and Adell (Ira) Reeves of Murphysboro, Ill.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Delores (Ed) Ranken; a sister, Lorraine Helm; a brother, Clifford Alwin; and two granddaughters in infancy, Sonya Mellen and Rebecca Vessels.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, April 18, 2001 at O'Connor and Homeier Funeral Home, 364 E. Division St., Elgin from 2-8 p.m. and on Thursday, April 19, 2001 at 9 a.m. until the time of services at 10 a.m. in Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.
Edward H. Werner
Edward H. Werner, 84, of Elgin passed away, Sunday, April 15, 2001 in his home.
He was born May 5, 1916 in Elgin, the son of Emil and Elizabeth Volkening Werner.
He had been a resident of Elgin all of his life and was a graduate of Elgin High School Class of 1935. He was employed by Shakeproof Division of Illinois Tool Works for 32 years before retiring as Shipping Supervisor. He was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ of Elgin.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Henrietta Lichthardt Werner, whom he married
on Oct. 14, 1939 in Schaumburg; two daughters, Judith (Gerald) Behnke of Elgin and Janet Werner of South Elgin; a son, Rev. James (Nancy) Werner of New Holstein, Wis.; six grandchildren, Jennifer (Steve) Emmert, Jeffrey (Lesley) Behnke, Megan, Mary, Melissa and Melanie Werner; two great-grandchildren, Allison and Tyler Behnke; and a sister, Irene Werner of Elgin.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Florence Null.
Funeral Services will be 11 a.m., Wednesday in the St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Elgin, the Rev. Thomas O'Connor officiating. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park, Elgin.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m., Tuesday in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin and Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of services in the church.
Memorials may be made to St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Elgin or the American Cancer Society.
Robert Otto Albers
Robert Otto Albers, formerly of Roselle and Elgin, died Wednesday, February 7, 2001.
He was born June 9, 1949 in Elgin, grew up in Roselle and graduated from Lake Park High School.
Survivors include his mother, Bernice Jost Albers of Elgin; a brother, Jack Albers of Fort Collin, CO; a sister, Susan (Albers) Smith of Elgin; and 2 children: Camille and Jack of Arizona.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Albers; and a sister, Mary Albers.
Burial was in Flagstaff, AZ.
Margaret L. Ashley
Margaret L. Ashley, 81, of Elgin passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2003 in Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin.
She was born December 25, 1921 in Racine, WI and was the daughter of Otto and Rose (Swamer) Katzensky. Margaret was a Supervisor at Knowles Electronics, Inc. for many years prior to her retirement.
Survivors include three children, Dennis (Pam) Ashley of Elgin, Robert (Penny) Ashley of Denton, TX and Jo Ann (Ralph) Rohrssen of Phoenix, AZ; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; a brother, Raymond; three sisters, Dorothy, Evelyn and Elnora; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Ronald Ashley; a sister, Mildred; and a brother, Donald.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, April 18, 2003 at 10 AM in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:30 to 8:30 PM in the funeral home.
Russell E. Bookman
Russell E. Bookman, 66, of Carpentersville, died Monday, April 14, 2003 at home. He was born February 26, 1937 in Marietta, OH to Ralph A. and Bessie P. (nee Lane) Bookman. He had lived in the Carpentersville area since 1955, a member of Zion United Church of Christ in Carpentersville. For the past four years he worked for the Regis Salon in Spring Hill Mall.
He is survived by two sisters: Darlene (Ralph) Duvel of Lake of the Ozarks, MO, Verma Vogel of Salem, IL; two brothers: Arthur (Nancy) Bookman of Elgin, Gerald Bookman of Genoa. Good Uncle to Lisa Zudis, Jerry Bookman, Kevin Duvel, Christine Duvel, David Vogel, Dale Vogel, Cheryl See and Kristina Bookman. Great Uncle to several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Lowell and Robert Bookman and one brother-in-law, Tom Vogel.
Funeral Services on Friday at 1 p.m. in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee. Burial will be private. Visitation is from 11-1 p.m. on Friday. Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
Natalie M. Flores
Natalie M. Flores, 71, of Elgin passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2003 at Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin. She was born December 5, 1931 in Parsons, KS the daughter of Joseph and Marie Juarez Moreno. She had been a resident of Elgin for over 50 years.
Surviving are two daughters, Michelle (Juan) Marquez of South Elgin and Carrie Flores of San Jose, CA, one son, Paul Flores of Orangevale, CA, two grandchildren, Gregory and Jonathon Marquez, one brother, John Moreno, four sisters, Lupe (Ray) Edwards, Josephine Moreno, Delorez (Rodrigo) Garcia and Helen Shrum.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Peter Flores and two brothers and one sister.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, April 19, 2003 at 3 p.m. at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. Visitation will be held Saturday from 2 p.m. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Anderson Animal Shelter, South Elgin.
Nicholas L. Gray
Nicholas L. Gray, 22, of Sycamore, IL, formerly of Elgin, passed away Wednesday, April 16, 2003. He was born July 23, 1980 in Elgin and was the son of Walter and Deborah (Reinert) Gray.
Survivors include his mother, Deborah Bramer of Elgin, two sisters, Nichole Gray and Katrina Patrick, his fiancee, Patricia Wilkins, maternal grandparents, Lloyd and Barbara Reinert of Port St. Lucie, FL, paternal grandmother, Martha Guyton of Amory, MS and several aunts, uncles, and cousins in the Elgin and Mississippi areas.
preceded in death by his father, Walter "Butch" Gray and his brother, James Michael Gray in infancy.
