Henry C. Grisham Jr.
Henry C. Grisham Jr., 80, of Elgin passed away Monday, April 14, 2003 at Sherman Hospital, Elgin. He was born November 28, 1922 in Springdale, AR, the son of Henry C. and Rose Beu Grisham Sr. He had been a resident of the Elgin area for most of his life. He had been employed at the Elgin Mental Health Care Center for 30 years before retiring. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Navy.
He was past commander and a member of VFW Post 1307 of Elgin where he was active with the Golden Diners. He was a member of American Legion Post 57 of Elgin. He was a member of the Izaak Walton League.
Surviving are his wife, Betty Suter Grisham whom he married
on September 12, 1948, two daughters, Vicki (Peter) Culver of Elgin and Mary (Bill) Duewel of Elgin, one son, John (Diane) Grisham of Ashville, AL, nine grandchildren, Tyler, Ben (Jennifer) Culver, Abbie, Kyla and Brad Duewel, Michael (Leslie), Miranda, Rocco (Amanda) Caius Grisham, two step grandchildren, Brandy and Caleb Lavender and one sister, Helen (Dick) Thurnau of Seattle, WA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Robert Grisham and one sister, Dorothy Cottingham.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, April 18, 2003 at 11:30 a.m. at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. Burial with military honors conducted by VFW Post 1307 and American Legion Post 57 will be in Lakewood Memorial Park, Elgin. Visitation will be held Thursday from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to VFW Post 1307, Elgin or to the charity of one's choice.
Angeline J. Miraldi
Angeline J. Miraldi, 78, of Elgin passed away April 14, 2003 at Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin. She was born September 6, 1924 in La Salle, IL. She was a parishioner of Christ the King Parish for many years. One of the key supporters for the Martha's Circle of the woman's guild in the Parish Center.
She was the wife of the late Orlando P. Miraldi, mother of Dennis (Elaine), Orlando Jr. (Sharon) and Mario Miraldi, grandmother of Gregory (Elizabeth), Dustin (Lori), Dwayne (Jimie), Orlando III and Justin, great grandmother of Jason, Brittany, Madison and Derick, sister of Leo (Helen), Mario (Judy) and Anthony (Pauline) Abruscato; Mary (the late Harold) Claypool; the late John (the late Josephine), Carl (Frances), and Joseph (the late Virginia) Abruscato. Aunt of many nieces and nephews.

Evelyn "Cricket" D. Smith
Evelyn "Cricket" D. Smith, 71, of Lake in the Hills, died Monday, April 14, 2003. She was born April 16, 1931 near Paris, IL, and was the daughter of Earl and Edith (Lindsay) Stone. On June 30, 1951, she married
Jack L. Smith in Harvey, IL. She earned a B.S. and Masters Degree in elementary education from Northern Illinois University and a reading specialist certificate from Loyola. She accepted a position teaching first grade at Lake in the Hills Elementary School in 1971 where she taught for 22 years. She was awarded the "Distinguished Educator of the Year" honor by the Kane County Board of Education in 1987 which recognized Evelyn for her "outstanding professional work, gifted teaching ability, dedication, sense of humor and love for children." Over her 27 year teaching career, and 50 years of teaching Sunday school at the Church of the Nazarene, she touched the lives and educated the minds of thousands of children. Former students often returned as young adults to thank her for the positive impact she had on their lives. She taught some of those student's children as well.
Survivors include her mother, husband, and two children, Gary (Barbara) Smith of St. Charles, Randy (Nancy) Smith of Lake in the Hills; and four grandchildren, Ashley, Taylor, Nicole and Ryan.
She was preceded in death by her father, Earl.

Earl S. Anderson
Earl S. Anderson, 64, of Elgin passed away Friday, April 15, 2005 in his home. He was born September 12, 1940 in Elgin, the son of Earl B. And Crystal (Littlejohn) Anderson.
Earl was raised in St. Charles and was a 1958 graduate of St. Charles High School. He attended IIT and Elgin Community College. He was employed by the Flender Corporation in Elgin as a coupling specialist. He was a member of St. Laurence Catholic Church in Elgin and a member of the Elgin Moose Lodge #799. Earl was a great outdoorsman and an avid fisherman, when he wasn't fly fishing, he could be found bowling.
Survivors include his mother, Crystal Buller of Maple Park; his wife, Jacqueline (Brustle) Anderson, whom he married
on April 2, 1960 in Elgin; sons, Jeffery (Renae) Anderson of Malta, IL, John R. (Mary) Anderson of Elgin, James (Kimberly) Anderson of Hampshire and Jerry Anderson of Elgin; 10 grandchildren; a brother, Elmer (Diane) Anderson of Sycamore; sisters, Helen (Everette) Bruce of Elburn and Joann (Charles) Sloat of Maple Park; and his mother-in-law, Daisey Brustle of Friendship, Wisconsin.
He was preceded in death by his father; step father, Vincent Buller; and father-in-law, William Brustle.
Funeral Mass will be held at 12:45 PM on Tuesday, April 19, 2005 in St. Laurence Catholic Church, Elgin with the Rev. Joseph F. Kulak officiating. Burial will be private. Visitation will be held on Monday from 4 to 8 PM in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin and on Tuesday from 12:15 PM until the time of Mass in the church. Memorials may be made to the Provena St. Joseph Hospital Cancer Care Unit.
Leonard C. Anderson Jr.
Leonard C. Anderson Jr., 76, of Elgin, passed away April 15, 2005, in his home, surrounded by family. He was born November 20, 1928, in Chicago, IL and was the son of Leonard C. and Ruth M. Anderson Sr.
Leonard had served in the United States Naval Reserve from 1951-1955. He had worked for Local Union #17 for 45 years prior to his retirement. Leonard was an avid musician and performed with the Dimensions, as a piano player and singer, all over the area for many years. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, and will be dearly missed. He was a member of the Union Local #17, a member of the American Legion Post #57 and a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Anderson, whom he married
on November 27, 1959; seven children, Mary (Greg) Cariello, Rhonda (Rick) Tazelaar, Rick (Nilsa) Anderson, Esther (Kurt Nebel) Adkerson, Patti (Fernando) Garcia, Lenny (Rene) Anderson III and Hans (Leslie) Anderson; 19 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; his mother of Chicago, IL; his sister, Sue Anderson and companion Sue King; his brother, Bill (Joyce) Anderson; his god-children, Meike Knochel and Stacie VanRyan and many nieces, nephews and his loving family in Germany.
He was preceded in death by his father; his sister, a grandchild and a great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 19, 2005, at 10:30 A.M. in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. Burial will follow in Lakewood Mem. Park.
Visitation will be on Monday in the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m.
Memorials may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation or the American Cancer Society.
Stuart L. Cecil
Stuart L. Cecil, 91, of Bartlett since 1950 passed away Thursday, April 14, 2005 in Bartlett. He was born November 25, 1913 in Owensboro, KY. He retired in 1979 after 37 years of service from McGraw Electric Co. and loved to garden in his yard.
Survivors include his former wife, Opal Fields; his son, Larry (Patricia) of Elgin; his grandchildren, Michele (Eric Paul) Belanger of South Elgin; great grandchildren, Tyler and Bailey; and his brothers and sisters, Wilbur of DeSmet, SD and the late George, R. E., Richard, Charles, Mary, Juanita and Lillian.

Bernice Gusewelle
Bernice Gusewelle, 88, of St. Charles, formerly of Carpentersville, passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2005 at home. She was born February 6, 1917 in Carpentersville, the daughter of Walter and Alma (Wendt) Schumacher.
she was a member of Zion United Methodist Church of Christ in Carpentersville where she played the organ, was a youth leader, a Sunday school teacher and member of the choir. She was employed at Hills-McCanna in Carpentersville for many years prior to her retirement.
Survivors include son-in-law, John Jeide of St. Charles; two granddaughters, Kelly Jeide of St. Charles and Karla (York) Kurinsky of St. Charles; two grandsons, Max and Carter Kurinsky; a sister, Marilyn (William) Reimer of Elgin; several nieces and nephews.

Harold L. Johnson
Harold L. Johnson, 80, of Elgin passed away Thursday, April 14, 2005 at Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin. He was born January 13, 1925 in Elgin the son of Sigfried and Alfreda Benson Johnson. He had been a resident of Elgin all of his life. He had been employed at Woodruff and Edwards Foundry in Elgin for many years and at Spartan Meadows golf course before retiring. He was a veteran of W.W. II serving in the Marines in the South Pacific.
He was a member of American Legion Post 57 of Elgin, VFW Post 1307 of Elgin and a former member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 799 of Elgin.
Surviving are his wife, Marian Foley Johnson, whom he married
on May 28, 1949; four children, Mark (Bennizette) Johnson of Burlington, Jeffrey (Brenda) Johnson of Elgin, Molly (Phil) Walston of Goodyear, AZ, Monica (John) Stockl of St. Charles; step-daughter, Sheila (Gale) Jordan of Simi Valley, CA; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Genevieve Kendall of Elgin.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Nathan Stockl; and two brothers, Raymond and Delbert Johnson.

Dorothy L. (Everhart) MacKay
Dorothy L. (Everhart) MacKay, of Sleepy Hollow, passed away at her residence on Thursday, January 13, 2005. She was born on September 5, 1917 in Oak Park, Illinois to Walter and Lillian Everhart.
She graduated from Purdue University and was married
to John D. MacKay who preceded her in death in 1958.
She is survived by her three children, Sandra Jo Titsch of Kearney, New Jersey, Kirk Allen MacKay of Greenwood, Indiana and Gregory L. MacKay of Ann Arbor, Michigan; five grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

Pamela S. Pavlik
Pamela S. Pavlik, 57, of Geneva, passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2005, at Sherman Hospital, Elgin under hospice care after a long battle against cancer. She was born on St. Patrick's Day in 1948, in Elgin.
She was the daughter of Herman and Hilda Gehrig Reber. She was a resident of Elgin for many years and was a graduate of Larkin High School in 1966. She was general manager for years at the Holiday Inn and retired after her marriage to Ron Pavlik and then moved to Geneva in 1977. Whether it was creating a new fashion purse, lighting up an insurance convention party or cooking a special dinner on a quiet Saturday evening at home, Pam lived a wonderful life. To know Pam was to love Pam, as she exuded class and fine taste wherever she traveled, and whomever she was with. From the tennis finals at Wimbledon to the stately Greenbriar Resort, to her lovely home in Geneva, Pam lived a vibrant, enthusiastic, caring life. She was as comfortable in the presence of top insurance agency executives as she was babysitting her grandchildren. Her finishing touches were elegant and graceful in her home and her interior decorating consultations. She had the vision to manifest a client's or friend's taste and desires. She let her inner beauty and strength sustain her during these last years fighting cancer. Until quite recently, you would not know she was fighting so hard for life.
Surviving are her husband, Ronald S. Pavlik; her mother and step-father, Hilda (Al) Scholl of Elgin; her children, Steve Pavlik and his family of Denver, CO, Leslie (Joseph) Lullie of Elgin, Dawn (Keenan) Hamm of Wheaton; step-sisters Sharon (Gary) Davis of Irving, CA, Renee (Randy) Eichorst of Elgin, Mickey (Gary) Fowler of Elgin, Desiree (Larry) Nichols of Elgin and Angel Jamieson of Sycamore and many aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Clara and Peter Gehrig; her father, Herman Reber, uncles Alvin, Emil "Mike", Peter and Edwin Gehrig and her aunt, Esther Gehrig.
Visitation will be held Sunday, April 17 at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin from 1:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. followed by a celebration of Pam's life at 4:00 P.M. with Rev. Dick Gilbert, officiating. Burial will be private in Prairie cemetery, St. Charles.

Karl L. Reinke, Jr.
Karl L. Reinke, Jr., 77 of Sleepy Hollow died Wednesday, April 13, 2005 at Sherman Hospital in Elgin.
He was born in Oak Park on April 13, 1928. He was the son of Karl L. and Vivian Reinke, Sr. He was a long time resident and businessman in the Dundee area and a member of the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in East Dundee.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, LaVonne E. "Vonnie"; their children, William (Beth), Richard (Deanna) Debra and Timothy (Daneen); six grandchildren; and his brother, Henry (Marcy). Many nieces, nephews and friends also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
