E. Elayne Diehl
E. Elayne Diehl, age 76, of Elgin, formerly of Savanna, IL passed away Tuesday, April 17, 2001 in Sherman Hospital, Elgin.
She was born March 14, 1925 in Savanna the daughter of David and Mildred Traum Truninger. She married John R. Diehl of October 18, 1952 in Savanna, IL. She had been a resident of Elgin since 1960. She had been employed as City Comptroller by the City of Savanna and after coming to Elgin was employed by the YWCA for 17 years before retiring as Business Manager.
Surviving are her husband, John R. Diehl; two son Kevin (Roberta) Diehl of Downers Grove, Mark (Fiancee-Sheri) Diehl of West Dundee; seven grandchildren, Cyndi (Brad) Worthington, Jason, Jeff, Abby and Nicholas Diehl, Jennifer and Kristina Koos; two great grandchildren, Summer and Amber Worthington; brother, Richard Truninger of Thomson, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Jennifer Diehl and brother David Truninger.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday at 1:00 PM in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin with Rev. Ralph McFadden officiating. Burial will be private. Visitation will be held Friday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.

Harold C. Fischer
Harold C. Fischer, 86, of Cape Coral, FL, formerly of Hampshire, passed away Thursday, April 12 in his home.
He was born on October 28, 1914, the son of Otto and Bertha (Stempel) Fischer.
He operated Fischer Transport in Hampshire for many years before retiring. After retiring he was employed at Royal Tee Golf Course maintaining the golf carts. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Cape Coral.
Survivors include his wife, Betty L. Fischer; two sons, Richard (Donna) Fischer of Marengo and Vernon (Marjorie) Fischer of Hampshire; a daughter, Debra L. Fischer of Cape Coral; four grandchildren; Mike (Elizabeth) Fischer, Scott Fischer, Amanda Fischer and Leanne (Branko) Nikolic; and a great grandson, Matthew Fischer.
Funeral services were held at Cape Ridge Funeral Home with burial in the Coral Ridge cemetery in Cape Coral.

Elaine M. Fox
Elaine M. Fox, 63, of Huntley, formerly of Elgin, passed away Tuesday, April 17, 2001 in Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin. She was born September 20, 1937 in Ottawa, IL the daughter of John and Mathilda Mitchell Budach. She grew up on a farm in Ransom, IL and was a Graduate of the University of Illinois. She had been a resident of Elgin for 33 years before moving to Huntley in 1999. She worked in the Elgin area as a Special Education Teacher before retiring. She enjoyed volunteer work with the Anderson Animal Shelter and Horizons for the Blind in Crystal Lake, an agency that provides services for the visually impaired. She had been a member of First United Methodist Church in Elgin for the past 35 years.
Surviving are her husband, John Fox whom she married on Aug 19, 1965; a daughter, Lisa (Dale) Cowan of Hampshire; a son David Fox of Chicago; a grandson Cody Cowan; and a brother Jack (Barbara) Budach of Ottawa.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday at 10 AM in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin with Rev. Mona Walker officiating. Burial will be in River Valley Memorial Gardens, West Dundee. Visitation will be held Friday from 4 PM to 8 PM in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Anderson Animal Shelter or Horizons for the Blind.

Charles Lee Ploppert
Charles Lee Ploppert, 46, of Monroe Center, Ill. and formerly of Elgin died Tuesday, April 17, 2001 in his home.
He was born April 10, 1955 in Chicago, the son of Joseph and Virginia Ploppert.
He was a carpenter and draftsman.
Survivors include his wife, Dawn (nee Struck) Ploppert, whom he married May 21, 1982; three daughters, Rebecca, Christina and Amanda Ploppert, all of Monroe Center; his mother, Virginia Karr of Sycamore; three sisters, Donna(Lenny) Peterson of Hampshire, Carol (Tom) Salis of Geneva, and Jenny Karr of New York; six brothers, Eddie (Liz) Ploppert of Sycamore, Sonny (Leslie) Jones of Bolingbrook, Gus Karr of Wisconsin, Paul Ploppert of W. Chicago, Terry Karr and Carl "Buttons" Karr of Missouri; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father; a brother, Jimmy Ploppert; and his step-mother, Betty Ploppert.
Funeral services will be 7 p.m., Friday, April 20, 2001 in Quiram-Kirkland Funeral Home.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m., Friday in the funeral home prior to the services.

Ricky Ross
Ricky Ross, 34, of Bartlett passed away on April 17, 2001 at home. He was born July 11, 1966.
He was a member of Ironworkers Union Local No. 1.
Loving father of Devin Godzicki and Ashley Ross. Dear son of Jerry (Krista) Ross and Dee (Frank) Harrington (Ross). Loving grandson of Evelyn Rawson. Brother of Gerald (Wendy) Ross, Robert (Linda) Ross and Deanna (Dominic) Laskero. Uncle of many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Will be held Saturday, April 21, 2001 at the Pafford Funeral Home, Lexington, TN. Burial will take place in Little Fork Church cemetery, Huron, TN. Visitation will be Thursday 3-9PM at Ahglrim & Sons Funeral Home, 485 S. Bartlett Road, Streamwood.

Henry E. Schumacher
Henry E. Schumacher, 79, of Battle Lake, MN formerly of Carpentersville died April 16, in Sparta, WI. Born March 21, 1922 in Carpentersville to John H. & Mabel G. (Lorenz) Schumacher.
He was a WWII Army Veteran and a member of the Zion Lutheran Church of Carpentersville.
He is survived by his daughter Vicki (Alvin) Jambor of Hampshire sons, Dennis (Char) of Elgin, and Thomas (Regina) of Sparta, WI; sisters Lorraine (Merle) Holland of S. Elgin and Eleanore "Dolly" Schumacher of Leesburg, FL; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Vivian, two brothers, a sister and a grandson.
Funeral Services will be Friday, April 20, in the Miller Funeral Home at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow in Lakewood Memorial Park in Elgin. Visitation will be from 12:00 (noon) until time of services on Friday.

Tom Allen
Tom Allen, 58, of Waukegan, formerly of Elgin, died Sunday, April 15, 2001 in his home.
He was born on May 28, 1942 in Marconi, Miss., the son of Tom and Leo Prescott Allen Sr.
On November 9, 1991, he married Cathy Whiteside in Elgin. He was a laborer for General Mills, a member of Watch City Lodge 131, and a member of the Masonic Temple. He was a devoted member to Progressive Baptist Church in Elgin.
Survivors include his wife, Cathy Allen of Waukegan; daughters, Rishanda Allen, Tangella Allen, and Lisa Bryant; sons, Cedric Whiteside, Terrance Allen, Antonio Brown, Patrick Furgson, Cedric Allen, and Thomas Allen III; two sisters, Liz York and Yovonne Wesley; brothers, Russell Macon, Lous Allen, Ronald Allen and Saleem Tawwab; 12 grandchildren; six sisters-in-law; 10 brothers-in-law; mother-in-law, Lillie B. Whiteside; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandchild, Marzell Allen.
Services and visitation will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2001 at the Progressive Baptist Church (305 Ann St. Elgin, IL). Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM with the Funeral Service at 11:00 AM at the Church, with Pastor Tate officiating. Burial will follow at Bluff City cemetery. Memorials can be made to Progressive Baptist Church, 305 Ann St., Elgin, IL 60120.

Morice E. Beu
Morice E. Beu, 88, of Independence Village in Rockford, IL. Formerly of Belvidere and Harvard, IL. passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2002 at Maple Crest Nursing Home in Belvidere following a brief illness. Born April 30, 1913 in East Dundee, IL, the son of William Beu and Ida Ihrke. married Kathleen M. Welch on June 11, 1938 in Elgin.
He was Beef Manager for Cudahy Packing Co., serving in several locations ending in Rockford, a career that spanned 46 years. Then he was a Salesman for Aurora Packing Co. for two years. He also worked in a number of neighborhood meat markets during these years.
He was Treasurer of the "Hot Lunch" Program for Immanuel Lutheran School for many years. Avid horseshoe pitcher, and won numerous trophies and awards. Former member of the Belvidere Men's Bowling Association, and was a lifelong bowler. Loyal Chicago White Sox fan, and played organized baseball in his earlier years. Also enjoyed playing golf. Graduated from Ellis Business College in Elgin, IL. Member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Belvidere.
He is survived by two daughters, Sharon Beu of Harvard, IL and Jane (Laurence) Phillips of Corrales, New Mexico; two sons, William R. (Lorna) Beu of Rockford and Robert (Ruth) Beu of Phoenix, AZ; a sister, Alice Cork of Elgin; a brother, Wilbur Beu of Elgin; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two brothers, Earl and Raymond Beu; two sisters, Corinne Fischer and Gertrude Witt.
Funeral service Monday, April 22, 2002 at 11:00 A.M. at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Rev. Allan R. Buss, Pastor, will officiate. Burial Belvidere cemetery. Visitation Sunday, April 21, 2002 from 2 to 4 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorials established in his name. Arrangements by Buck-Wheeler-Hyland Funeral Home, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave., Belvidere.

Melvin Gundersen
Melvin Gundersen, 76, of Carpentersville died Monday, April 15, 2002 at his home. He was born in Chicago on August 2, 1925. He was the son of Gus and Katrina (nee Petersen) Gundersen. He was a resident of the area for over 41 years. He was a W.W. II Navy Veteran and a member of Carpentersville VFW 5915.
He is survived by two daughters, Sally (Dennis) Jennetten of Georgia and Melody A. (Tom) Korcal of Carpentersville; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Gordon (Edith) Gundersen of Addison.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Angie, on July 31, 1989; three sons, Donald, Ronald and Kenneth.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee. Burial will follow in the River Valley Memorial Gardens, West Dundee. Visitation will be on Friday from 5-9 p.m. in the Miller Funeral Home.

Marie D. Hlava
Marie D. Hlava, 82, of Elgin passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2002, at Carrington Care Center, South Elgin. She was born May 19, 1920 in Steeleville, Missouri, the daughter of Frank and Ora Badgely. She had been a resident of the Elgin area since 1992.
Surviving are two daughters: Barbara (John) Vaulato of Elgin and Marilyn Schaffner of Madison, IL; a son, Terry (Diane) Stawar of Georgetown, IN; ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Raymond Stawar, in 1968; her second husband, William Hlava, in 1991; and a son, Norman Stawar, in 1987.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:15 a.m. in the Laird Funeral Home to St. Laurence Catholic Church for mass at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Joseph F. Kulak officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope cemetery, Elgin. Visitation will be held Saturday from 8:30 a.m. until the time of services in the funeral home.

Nancy J. McClury
Nancy J. McClury, 70, of Carpentersville, died Wednesday, April 17, 2002 at Sherman Hospital in Elgin. She was born in Chicago on June 20, 1931. She was the daughter of Edward and Seminole (nee Hetherington) Peterson. She was a many year resident of the Carpentersville area and a member of the Faith Lutheran Church of Carpentersville.
She is survived by her husband, Daniel; a daughter, Stacy (Carl) Kelly of East Dundee; a son, Greg (Sue) Lazenby of Huntley; four grandchildren, Christina (Doug) Freund of Lake In The Hills, Benjamin (Mary) Kelly of Carpentersville, Stephen Lazenby of Cary and Nora Kelly of East Dundee; a great-grandson, Dereck Kelly of East Dundee; two sisters, Betty Peterson of Elgin and Joy (Jim) Adcock of Hazelcrest, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents; also a son and a daughter in infancy.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, April 20, 2002 at 11:00 A.M. in the Faith Lutheran Church, Carpentersville. The Rev. Bruce W. Meissner, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in the Windridge Memorial Park cemetery, Cary. Visitation will be on Friday, April 19, 2002 from 5-9:00 P.M. in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee and on Saturday in church from 10:30 A.M. until time of services. Memorials may be made to either the Faith Lutheran Church or the Salvation Army.
