Catherine A. Wenger
Catherine A. Wenger, 76, of Elgin passed away Friday, April 20, 2001 in Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin.
She was born June 28, 1924 in Philadelphia, PA, the daughter of Louis and Rose Frech.
She had been a resident of the Elgin area for the past 36 years.
Surviving are her husband, Theodore E. Wenger; five daughters, Cecelia Henning of Hampshire, Susan (David) Greer, Joanne (Adrian) Tillery, Nancy (Thomas) and Louanne (Greg) Olson, all of Elgin;five sons, Robert L. Wenger of Elgin, Gerald (Diane) Wenger of Oklahoma, Michael A. Wenger of Inverness, Carl D. Wenger of North Aurora and Stephen W. Wenger of Rockford; 18 grandchildren; a great grandchild; and three brothers, Louis Frech, Philip Frech and Robert Frech, all of Philadelphia.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister; and four brothers.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday at 7 PM in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin with Rev. Paul Maughan officiating. Burial will be private.
Visitation will be held Tuesday from 4 PM until time of services in the funeral home.
Fred W. Bicknese
Fred Bicknese, 73, of Leaf River, Illinois died Friday, April 20, 2001 at University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison, WI.
Born April 11, 1928 in Hampshire, IL, the son of Fred and Freida (Neilson) Bicknese. Graduated Hampshire High School in 1945. married Dagny Danielsen on August 26, 1950 in Elgin, IL. He was a dairy and grain farmer for most of his life near Leaf River. Member of the St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church of rural Forreston where he formerly served on the church council.
Survived by his wife, Dagny of Leaf River; five daughters, Mary Ann (Wally) Wolter of Marengo, Diane Bicknese of Leaf River, Susan (Raymond) Ackman of Viroqua, WI, Linda Rapp and Tami (Douglas) Hilton both of German Valley; a son, David (Sheila) Bicknese of Leaf River; three brothers, Kenneth (Phyllis) Bicknese of Genoa, Lester (Nancy) Bicknese of Manitowic Waters, WI and Donald (Evelyn) Bicknese of Hampshire; two sisters, Lucille Friend of Sycamore and Anetta (George) Grever of Maple Park, IL; 15 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Service will be at 11 AM, Wednesday, April 25, 2001 at the St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church of Forreston. Burial in West Grove cemetery next to church.
Visitation from 5 to 8 PM Tuesday Evening at the Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, 506 W. Merchant St., Byron, IL, 61010.

Dr. Stewart L. Bond - Lt. Col. USA (Ret.)
Dr. Stewart L. Bond Sr. Lt. Col. USA (Ret.), 88 of Elgin passed away Sunday, April 20, 2003.
He was born February 22, 1915 to Alma and Stewart Bond.
He was a veteran of the U. S. Army. Lieutenant Colonel in the Army Dental Corps, Fort Hood, Texas. He was a General Dentist in Elgin for 43 years. Retired in 1982. He belonged to the Elgin Dental Society, Fox Valley Dental Society, and the Illinois State Dental Society. He was a member of the Classic Thunderbird Club, active in Serra Club, and a member of the American Legion. He was a summer resident of Apple Canyon Lake since 1982 in Apple River, IL. He was a "gentleman and a gentle man".
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary (Aniballi) Bond of Elgin, they were very happily married
in Dundee, IL since 1940; three sons, Dr. Dennis (Krystine) Bond of North Barrington, Stewart (Vickie) Bond Jr. of Algonquin and David (Linda) Bond of Sterling, IL; a daughter, Mary Lynne (Kevin) Hurley of Elgin; 13 grandchildren, Catherine, Dennis Jr. (Courtney), Julia, Jamie, Michael, Joel and James Bond, Erik, Adam and Paul Martin, Ryan and Meaghan Hurley, Melissa (Rudy) Galvan; and three great grandchildren, William Flynn, Brittany and Austin Galvan.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Curtis Bond Sr.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 22, 2003 at O'Connor & Homeier Funeral Home from 4 to 8 PM. Meet at Church for a Funeral Mass on Wednesday, April 23, 2003 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church at 10 AM. Entombment will be at Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum in Geneva, IL.

Thomas W. Carroll
Thomas W. Carroll passed away on April 19, 2003 at home. Born January 3, 1930 in Long Beach, CA, he was a 33 year resident of Sleepy Hollow and an active member of St. Catherine of Siena Parish. He was a successful executive in the machine tool industry for 44 years. He retired in 1995 from CRL Industries, Inc. in Bannockburn where he was president and chief operating officer. In retirement, he was active in "Score," an organization of retired executives who counsel small businesses. He loved his wife, children and grandchildren dearly.
Beloved husband of Jane (nee Flynn); loving father of Chuck (Lisa), Mary (Fred) Campobasso, Thomas Jr., Lucy (Eric) Landwehr, John (Jodie), Patrick (Monica), Nancy (Danny) Meyers; grandfather of Isabelle Carroll, Geena, Jessica, Molly, and Nicholas Campobasso, Eleanor and Grace Landwehr; brother of the late James (Brim) Carroll and the late Jane Poxon; uncle to many.
Funeral mass will be on Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 845 W. Main St., West Dundee. Interment will follow at River Valley Memorial Gardens, West Dundee. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4-9 p.m. at the Miller Funeral Home, 504 W. Main St., West Dundee and on Thursday at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of mass.
Owen P. Duffy
Owen P. Duffy, 84, of Elgin passed away Sunday, April 20, 2003 in his home. He was born August 12, 1918 in Chicago, the son of Patrick and Nora Duffy. He was a graduate of St. Mel's High School, Chicago and Loyola University with a Bachelors of Science Degree in accounting. He had been a resident of Elgin since 1949 and was a self employed accountant. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Navy Air Force, where he was a Lieutenant Commander stationed in the South Pacific and was a patrol plane commander of a PBM sea plane. He first met Ruth M. Kloke at the Chicago Daily News and later they were married
on September 9, 1942.
He was a member of St. Laurence Catholic Church of Elgin. He was a former member of American Legion Post 57 of Elgin, VFW Post 1307 of Elgin, Sundowners Kiwanis Club, Elgin Elks Lodge 737 and the Eagles Club.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Ruth, his daughter, Ruth Ann (Dennis) Dunton of St. Charles, his sons Jim (Judi) Duffy of Woodridge and Dan (Kathy) Duffy of St. Charles, seven grandchildren, Jamie Duffy, Jay (Sheri) Duffy, Josh (Melissa) Duffy, Anne (Chris) Lam, Patrick Dunton, Brenna Duffy and Owen Duffy, a great grandchild, Tyler Duffy, two sisters, Mary Trauscht of Tempe, AZ and Fran (Jack) Barron of Denver, CO, three brothers, Joe Duffy of Desert Hot Springs, CA, John Duffy of Tempe, AZ and Don Duffy of Tempe, AZ and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Peggy and brother, Jimmy.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin to St. Laurence Catholic Church for mass at 10 a.m. with Rev. Joseph F. Kulak officiating. Burial will be in River Valley Memorial Gardens, West Dundee. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society or the Hospice of Northeastern Illinois.
Alice Forcier
Alice Forcier, 98, of Elgin passed away Sunday, April 20, 2003 at Heritage Manor, Elgin. She was born October 4, 1904 in Chicago, the daughter of Charles and Anna Snifka. She had been a resident of Elgin for many years and had been employed by Illinois Bell Telephone in Chicago as a supervisor for five years and then in Elgin for 27 years before retiring. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Elgin.
Surviving are her daughter, Mary (Marvin) Schultz of Elgin, sons James Martin of Elgin and John McMartin and his special friend Cynthia Baer of New York, ten grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Joseph Forcier in 1949, daughter June Cerasa, sisters Irene Berchem and Lucille Blythe and brother Robert Snifka.
Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, April 24 at 12 noon at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Elgin with Rev. Perfecto Vasquez officiating. Entombment will be in Mount Hope cemetery, Elgin. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin and Thursday from 11 a.m. until the time of mass in the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Thomas J. Galvin
Thomas J. Galvin, 68, a 35 year resident of Dundee Township died Saturday, April 19, 2003 at the Provena St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin. He was born in Chicago on October 29, 1934, the son of Joseph E. and Myrtle L. (nee Peterson) Galvin.
Tom is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years: Barbara A. (nee Bigelow) Galvin. They married
on December 22, 1956. He was the loving father of Kathy (Jim) Grotemeyer of Breckenridge, CO, Patty (Michael) Seegert of Algonquin, Missy Galvin of Elgin, Beth (Frank) Gruesen of St. Charles, Sue (Joel) Siegler of St. Charles, Joseph (Christina) Galvin of West Dundee, Peter (Karen) Galvin of Minnetrista, MN, Margaret (John) Blanke of Algonquin and Caring Guardian of the Reedy children, 19 grandchildren, sister Mary (Charles) Budreck of McHenry. Tom was the much loved uncle of the Reedy, Budreck and Bigelow children.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son John Thomas in infancy, a sister: Patricia Galvin Reedy and nephews: Joseph Galvin Reedy and Charles G. Budreck.
Funeral Mass will be on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, West Dundee. Burial will follow in the St. Charles Borromeo cemetery in Hampshire. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4-9 p.m. in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee and on Wednesday in church from 10 a.m. until time of mass. John Hajdu
John Hajdu, 83, of Elgin passed away Friday at Sherman West Court. He was born November 15, 1919 in Chicago, the son of Andrew and Elizabeth Klima Hajdu. Member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Elgin, Kiwanis Golden K, Elgin. Had been employed at NBD/Bank One and Elgin Post Office. He was an agent for Farmers Insurance for 27 years. He was a Veteran of World War II.
Survivors include one daughter, Kathi (Ken) Pickett of Texas and one son, Jon (Linda) Hajdu of Joliet and six grandchildren.

Funeral will be Saturday, April 26 at 2 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church Elgin with Rev. Hannibal Frederich officiating. Burial will be private at Bluff City cemetery, Elgin. Doris E. Krueger
Doris E. Krueger, 83, of Elgin passed away Sunday, April 20, 2003 in her home.
She was born December 18, 1919 in South Elgin, the daughter of John and Hazel Hansen.
She had been a resident of the Elgin and Dundee area all of her life. She had been employed at the Elgin National Watch Co. and Herb's Bakery in Elgin before retiring. She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, North Plato.
Surviving are her husband, Frank H. Krueger whom she married
on June 20, 1936; a daughter, Betty Cline (Jim Johnston) of Elgin; four sons, Edward (Joan) Krueger of Udina, Frank (Elizabeth) Krueger of Marengo, Jack (Debbi) Krueger of Burlington and Tom (Bonnie) Krueger of Belvidere; 13 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and a sister, Eileen Hein of South Elgin.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a son, Richard Krueger.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, April 23, 2003 at 10:30 AM at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 43W301 Plank Rd. with Pastor Howard Gleason officiating. Burial will be in River Valley Memorial Gardens, West Dundee.
Visitation will be held Tuesday from 4 to 8 PM at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin and Wednesday from 10 AM until the time of services in the church.

Mona S. Reynolds
Mona S. Reynolds, 85, passed away on April 15, 2003 at her residence in Lake Havasu City, AZ. She was born September 3, 1917 in Aurora, IL.
Mona moved to Lake Havasu City, AZ 22 years ago from Elgin, IL. She worked as an apprentice pharmacist for the State of Illinois in Elgin, IL for 30 years. Mona was a member of the St. Michael's United Methodist Church Craft Group, Daughters of the American Revolution and past president of Ladies of the Elks in Elgin, IL.
She is survived by her sons, Harold J. Reynolds of Lake Havasu City, AZ; James D. Reynolds of Eau Claire, WI; daughter Sally Minehart of Corpus Christi, TX; sister Dorie Amendt of Spooner, WI; 12 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
Donations may be made in her name to Hospice of Havasu, P.O. Box 597, Lake Havasu City, AZ 86405.

Raymond J. Thompson, Sr.
Raymond J. Thompson, Sr., 82, of Carpentersville, died Sunday at his home. He was born in Chicago on November 21, 1920. He was the son of Raymond T. and Eleanor (nee Snyder) Thompson. Ray was a resident of the area since 1954. He was a 33 year employee of the North Town Post Office, Chicago. He was a former salesman for CID Realty. Ray was very active in Free Masonry. He was a longtime member of Dundee Lodge #190 A.F.&A.M.; and served as Past Master in 1963.
He was former 36 year Lodge Secretary and became Secretary Emeritus in 2001. He was a Member and Past Worthy Patron of Dundee Lodge #151 O.E.S. Ray also served as Secretary of The Dundee Temple Association for many years. He was Past District Deputy Grand Master of the 9th Northern District State of Illinois. Ray was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Medinah Shrine. He was a World War II Navy Veteran. He served aboard the USS Tucson in the Radar Division. He was a member of the Dundee VFW #2298.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years: Bernice L. (nee Powell) Thompson, four children: Bobbette (Ronnie) Cantrell of Marengo, Susan (William) Fritzler of Lake Villa, Raymond J., Jr. (Sandra) of Watuaga, TX and Robert (Dee) of Kingston. Grandfather of Sherrie, Michael, Raymond III, Stephen, Donna, Layla and Steven Ray. Great grandfather of Christopher, Lauren, Timothy, Kevin, Joseph, Daniel, James, RJ and Justin. A sister: Patricia Thompson of Libertyville and many nieces, nephews and friends also survive.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife: Dorothy in 1943, two sisters: Eleanor and Renee.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Dundee Lodge #190 A.F.&A.M.;, 89 S. Kennedy Drive (Route 25) in Carpentersville. Burial will follow in the Dundee Twp. East cemetery, East Dundee. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 3-9 p.m. at the Dundee Lodge A.F.& A.M. #190.
