Mrs. E. Joyce (Martin-Raddatz) Klimek, 79, of Vandalia, Michigan, formerly of St. Charles and Elgin, Illinois, died on Wednesday, April 20, 2005 in Kalamazoo, Michigan after a short illness.
A memorial service in Elgin, Illinois will be held at a latter date. Cremation will take place. The Connelly Funeral Home in Cassopolis, Michigan are handling the arrangements.
Alvina G. Meylan
Alvina G. Meylan, 90, of St. Charles, IL, formerly of Bay City, MI, passed away on April 21, 2005 at Apostolic Christian Resthaven in Elgin, IL. She was born February 21, 1915 in Bay City, Michigan.
Mrs. Meylan is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Joan and James Didier of St. Charles, IL; her daughter-in-law, Barbara Meylan (Marvin) Ramseyser; her grandchildren, Thomas Meylan, Suzan (David) Lieblang, Grant (Rebecca) Didier, and Fred (Ellen) Didier; seven great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and many friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Meylan; her son, Robert Meylan; a brother, Lawrence Hoffman; a sister, Lottie Wiechec; and a grandson, J. Marcus Didier.
Humor came naturally to this plain-spoken farm woman, who thoroughly enjoyed gatherings with family and friends. Alvina will be remembered for her delicious baked goods, her impeccable grooming and her boldness in sharing her Christian faith. To know Alvina was to make life just a little bit brighter.

Catherine A. Wenger
Catherine A. Wenger, 76, of Elgin passed away Friday, April 20, 2001 in Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin.
She was born June 28, 1924 in Philadelphia, PA, the daughter of Louis and Rose Frech.
She had been a resident of the Elgin area for the past 36 years.
Surviving are her husband, Theodore E. Wenger; five daughters, Cecelia Henning of Hampshire, Susan (David) Greer, Joanne (Adrian) Tillery, Nancy (Thomas) and Louanne (Greg) Olson, all of Elgin;five sons, Robert L. Wenger of Elgin, Gerald (Diane) Wenger of Oklahoma, Michael A. Wenger of Inverness, Carl D. Wenger of North Aurora and Stephen W. Wenger of Rockford; 18 grandchildren; a great grandchild; and three brothers, Louis Frech, Philip Frech and Robert Frech, all of Philadelphia.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister; and four brothers.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday at 7 PM in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin with Rev. Paul Maughan officiating. Burial will be private.
Visitation will be held Tuesday from 4 PM until time of services in the funeral home.
Helen T. Haney
Helen T. Haney, 84, of the Union School Apartments in West Dundee, died Wednesday, April 21, 2004 at Manor Care Health Services of Elgin. She was born in Chicago on September 22, 1919, the daughter of George and Anna Eckerly.
She was a resident of the area for 25 years. She is survived by her son, Dennis M. (Linda) Haney of Carpentersville; four granddaughters, Kerrie (Howard) Russo of St. Charles, Kelly Hester of South Elgin, Veronica (Erik) Devereaux of Bartlett and Katie Haney of Carpentersville; eight great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Malcolm G. Haney, Sr. in 1966; her son, Malcolm G. Haney, Jr. in 1967; her daughter, Carole A. Hester in 2003. Family and friends will meet for funeral mass on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. in the St. Catherine of Siena Church, West Dundee. The Rev. David Austin will officiate. Burial will follow in the Irving Park cemetery, Chicago. Visitation will be on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until time of mass in the church. Please omit flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
Daniel P. Irion
Daniel P. Irion, 84, of Algonquin passed away Friday, April 16, 2004 at Sherman Hospital in Elgin. He was born June 30, 1919 the son of Oscar D. and Sophie Heggeland. He had been a resident of Algonquin for over 40 years and had been employed by Chicago Rawhide in Elgin before retiring. He was a veteran having served in the U.S. Army.
He was a member of the Congregational Church of Algonquin.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, April 24, at 10:30 a.m. at Wait Ross Allanson Funeral & Cremation Services 201 S. Main St., Algonquin with Rev. Arn Schaper officiating. Burial will be private in Elm Lawn cemetery, Elmhurst. Visitation will be held Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services in the funeral home. Memorials may be iven to the Congregational Church of Algonquin.
Patrick G. Neal
Patrick G. Neal of Atlanta, 43, died suddenly on April 5, 2004, after struggling with congenital heart problems and depression. He was born August 23, 1960, in Elgin, IL, the son of Eugene and Geraldine (Ponsonby) Neal.
Patrick graduated from St. Edward Central Catholic High School in 1979, received a Bachelors degree from SIU in 1983, and a Masters degree from Miami of Ohio in 1984. He had been a pharmaceutical salesman since 1986, most recently with Pfizer Inc. (Agouron). He achieved the President's Club award five times with two different companies in three different territories, and ranked in the top 15% nationwide in 2000. His managers and peers thought of him as a consummate professional. An avid bicyclist, Patrick had great physical stamina, completing a difficult Outward Bound tour in his twenties and more recently a 200-mile Canada to Maine trip to raise money to fight AIDS. He was a supporter of human rights and was a key whistleblower in the sexual harassment case against Astra USA. Patrick loved his friends from all over the county and family, particularly his nieces and nephews. He also cherished his dog Sophie, craftsman-style houses and bungalows, Mission-style furnishings and his Audi TT with baseball glove interior. He will be remembered not only for his many accomplishments but also for his upbeat personality, delightful sense of humor and generosity to friends and family.
Patrick is survived by his father, Eugene Neal of Elgin; three brothers, Daniel (Diane) Neal of Freeport, Timothy (Patrice) Neal and Kevin Neal of Elgin; eight nieces and nephews, Monica Neal of Boston, Bryan Neal of Rockford, Benjamin (Jennifer) Neal, Lorena Neal (John Koski) and Caitlin Neal of Chicago, Jessica Neal of St. Louis, Missouri, Irene (Christ) Belesiotis of Hoffman Estates and Jacob Neal of Vail, Colorado and great-niece Elinor Koski.
Patrick was preceded in death by his mother Geraldine and a brother, Larry.
A memorial service was held in Atlanta Georgia on April 12th. A second memorial service will be conducted on Sunday, April 25th at St. Laurence Catholic Church, 226 Orchard, Elgin, IL from 11:30 to 12:00 noon followed by a reception/visitation in the home of his brother Tim at 2785 Brechin Trail, Elgin, IL from noon to 3 p.m.

Mattie Laura (Harris) Simon
Mattie Laura (Harris) Simon, 63, of Elgin, passed away Thursday, April 15, 2004 at Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin. She was born March 15, 1941 in Parkin, AR the daughter of John (Tobe) Wesley Sr. and Febbie Lee Harris. Mattie had been a resident of Elgin since 1966. She has been employed at Jefferson Smurfit for 28 years until her health failed and she retired and became a stay at home Grannie. She was a longtime faithful and devoted servant to her church until ill health prevented her from attending and being active.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 40 years, Matthew Simon, Sr.; five children, Van (Michael) Harris, Matthew Simon Jr. and Roger Simon all of Elgin, Andrella Lewis of Streamwood and Mavis (Leonard) Cornelius of South Elgin; 10 grandchildren; five sisters, Laura Lee of Kansas City, MO, Johnnie Mae Span and Doris (Joe) Bills of Elgin, Thedio McKinney of MS, Maezella Townsend of LA; one brother, Robert T. (Millie) Harris of Parkin, AR; a host of nieces and nephews and a special aunt, Amy James of Harvey, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Van E. Harris (Michael) and Roger A. Simon; one grandson, Matthew A. Simon; six brothers, Oren, Johnny and Otis Townsend and John Harris Jr., Archie Harris Sr. and Andrew Harris.

Patricia M. (Arnold) Steger
Patricia M. (Arnold) Steger, 43, of Austin, TX died Thursday, April 15, after a battle with cancer. She was born October 7, 1960 in Elgin, IL. She was a longtime resident of Carpentersville, IL.
She is survived by her husband, Michael Steger of Austin, TX; two daughters, Katie Stejskal of Elgin, and Felicia Olson of Carpentersville; a son, Kristoffer Olson of Carpentersville; a sister, Sheila (Bob) Bruner of Mundelein; her father Daniel Arnold of Elgin; one niece, Denise (Arnold) Bango; two nephews, Bryan and Nicholas.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Maureen T. Buckley Arnold; her sister, Cindy Arnold.
There was a private memorial service held in Austin, TX.
Maria "Tita" Vallejo Bosch
Maria "Tita" Vallejo Bosch, 60 of So. Elgin died Wednesday at her home.
Maria was born Joanuary 9, 1945, the daughter of Daniel and Amelia (Apolinar) Vallejo.
Tita was a longtime resident of Elgin and was a loyal sister, devoted mother, and daughter. She was honest, hardworking and will be sadly missed by her daughter, Jessica, entire family, many co-workers and friends.
Tita is preceded in death by her father (2003); one brother, Jesus (1980); and one nephew, Tony Guzman (2000).
She is survived by her daughter, Jessica; her mother, Amelia; four sisters, Eva Pineda, Elosia (Daniel) Soto, Amelia Gonzales, and Norma Himert; two brothers, Daniel (Cecelia) Vallejo and Saul (Debbie) Vallejo, all of Elgin; 26 nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Sunday, April 24, 2005 at the O'Connor-Leetz Funeral Home, Elgin from 4:00 until 8:00 PM, with funeral mass celebrated Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Elgin at 10:00 AM with Fr. Manuel Mendez officiating. Burial will follow at the Mt. Hope cemetery.

Irene M. Burton
Irene M. Burton, 95, of Elgin passed away on Thursday, April 21 at Rosewood Care Center. She was born on May 10, 1909 in Chicago and is the daughter of William and Lydia Lauter Kinsella.
She worked for Sears in the credit department for over 30 years. She has been a member of the Sherman Hospital Auxiliary for over 25 years and a member of the Elgin Historical Society and the Senior Citizen Group in Elgin. She also enjoyed arts and craft and flea markets.
She is survived by two sons, Raymond (Margo) Burton, Jr. of CA and James (Janet) Burton of Elgin; two daughters, Denise (the late Galen) Knaak of Elgin and Suzanne (James) Wilbrandt of East Dundee; 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond Burton Sr.; a brother and a sister.
Funeral service will be held on Monday, April 25 at 10:00 AM at Madison Funeral Home 305 Park St., Elgin. Burial will be at Mt. Hope cemetery in Elgin. Visitation will be on Sunday from 4 until 7PM. Memorials to Vitas Hospice. Arrangements by Madison Funeral Home 847-741-1128.
Lee Arthur Sparks
Lee Arthur Sparks died April 20, 2005. He was born to Arthur and Viola Sparks on February, 12, 1938. He was married
to Elizabeth Pestrui for 41 years.
Lee grew up in Elgin where he taught for for a few years and later went on to practice law.
He is survived by his wife; three children, Geoff (Donna) of Marinette, WI, Stephanie (Scott) Miller of Morton, IL, Stephen of China; four grandchildren, Nicholas, Danielle, Matthew and Samuel; two sisters, Sue (Michael) Salvaggio of Crystal Lake and Nancy (Robert) Burney of Elgin; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, William and Donald.
Services are private.
Audrey Margaret Korwin
Audrey Margaret (nee Teesink)Korwin, 79, of Huntley, passed away peacefully, Thursday, April 19, 2001 in Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin, after a long fight with cancer. Her family was at her side at the time of death.
She was born June 25, 1921, the daughter of Louis and Matilda Teesink.
She was a 47 year resident of Huntley. She was attending the Roseland School of Nursing in 1941 when she met Stanley Korwin, they married
Nov. 7, 1942 while Stanley was enlisted in the Army during WWII. After graduating as a Registered Nurse she worked as a nurse for the Cook County Health Dept. After the war, they moved to Marengo, where they operated the local taxi business. In 1954, they moved to Huntley, where they still remain. In the 1950's Audrey worked as a floor nurse at Sherman Hospital in Elgin. In the 1960's she moved briefly to St. Joseph's Hospital in Elgin. In 1964, she transferred to Woodstock Memorial Hospital in Woodstock where she remained until 1969. During her time at Woodstock Memorial, she donated her time doing student vision and hearing tests and conducted immunizations for the Huntley Consolidated School District where her sons attended. In 1969, Huntley District #158 hired her as the District's very first school nurse. She was a respected healthcare professional for the small but active town of Huntley, often being the first person people would call for advice. While at the Huntley School District, she finished her bachelor's degree in education from St. Francis College in Joliet and taught health. She was an advisor to the Future Nurses's Club at Huntley High School and many of her students are now in the profession. She retired in 1979 after being diagnosed with cancer but continued to be someone everyone called on for years after. For many years, she served as a Cub Scout Den Mother in Huntley. In 1961, she was elected to the school board for Huntley School District #158 and served two years. Audrey was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Marengo, having grown up in the church as a child. She always remembered other church members and community birthdays and special events. She was a strong supporter of many charities and institutions. For many years, she was the Huntley representative for the Salvation Army.
Survivors include her beloved husband, Stanley; her children, Stanley L. of Los Altos, Calif., Thomas W. of Moyock, N.C. and Anthony R. of Prescott, Ariz.; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a step-brother, Laverne "Bud" Behrens of Florida; and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her mother in 1937; her father in 1949; a daughter, Shirley Korwin in 1952; her step-mother, Hazel (Behrens) Teesink in 1996; a brother, Lawrence Teesink in 1932; a sister, Janet Rigney in 1997; a step-sister, Leona Behrens in 1999.
There will be a Memorial Service, Tuesday, April 24 at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Marengo.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to McHenry County Historical Society in Union or to the Illinois Hospice Association of Barrington.
