Larry J. Nyari
Larry J. Nyari, 55, of Belvidere, formerly of Elgin, passed away Friday, April 22, 2005 in his home. He was born April 4, 1950 in Elgin the son of Steve and Marie (Kreusler) Nyari.
Larry was a 1969 Graduate of Elgin High School, worked at Sherman Hospital for over 30 years, coached the "Lab Rats" women's softball team for many years at the Elgin Sports Complex and had a passion for playing bingo and poker.
Survivors include a brother, Charles (Debi) Nyari of Boonville, MO; two sisters, Darlene Stanton of Belvidere and Patricia Nyari of Belvidere; and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Robert S. Nyari.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, April 27, 2005 in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. Burial will be private. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 - 8:00 PM in the funeral home.
Rita Sisti
Rita Sisti, 65, of Elgin, died Wednesday at St. Joseph Hospital.
She was a devoted wife and mother, and was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Elgin for 44 years. She was retired from Chicago Rawhide, after 25 years of service. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, travel, and her children.
Rita was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers.
She is survived by her loving husband, James of 44 years; three children, Monti Sisti of Elgin, Kimberlee Giagnoni of West Dundee, Dianna (Sam) Frazier of Tampa, FL; six grandchildren, Rachel Mauthe, Sarah Davin, Alexandra Sisti, Julia Frazier, Samuel Frazier, and Brandon Frazier; four sisters; and a brother, all of Italy.
Visitation will be Tuesday, April 26, 2005 at the O'Connor-Leetz Funeral Home, Elgin from 5:00 until 8:00 PM, with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Elgin at 10:00 AM. Entombment will follow at Mt. Hope cemetery.
Willie I. Dean
Willie I. Dean, 70, of Elgin, passed away Friday, April 20, 2001 at Highland Park Hospital.
He was born Dec. 5, 1930 in Memphis, Tenn., the son of Lemon and Lula Taylor Dean.
He was a member of Bethesda Church of God in Christ in Elgin.
Survivors include his wife, Deborah Dean; his children, Jonathan Dean of California, Christopher Dean of Illinois,Timothy Dean of Washington D.C. and Lisa Hill of Cairo, Ill. and Venetia Byars; and a brother, William Dean of Elgin.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Friday at Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park St., Elgin. Burial will be in Bluff City cemetery.
Visitation will be 11 a.m., Friday until the time of services.
Emily L. Jolley
Emily L. Jolley, 77, of Hoffman Estates, Monday, April 23, 2001 at St. Alexius Hospital.
She was born Feb. 25, 1924 in Chicago, the daughter of Fred and Helen Dorman Mueller.
She had been a homemaker.
Survivors include two sons, William Don (Patricia) Jolley and Larry (Mary)Jolley, both of Hoffman Estates; three daughters, Delores (Clarence) Goins of North Carolina, JoAnn (Edward) Nuber of Florida and Diane Jolley of North Carolina; two sisters, Alice Poppenhager of Skokie and Marion Woss of Elgin; six grandchildren, Debbie (Gordon)MacKenzie of Marengo, Ken Jolley of Hoffman Estates, Bill Jolley of Hoffman Estates, Sandy (Jeremy) Hurd of Hoffman Estates, Eddie (Keri) Nuber of Bolingbrook and John Nuber of New York; and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William L. Jolley, whom she married
June 1945 and preceded her in death Feb. 1987; and a brother, Fritz Mueller.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Friday, April 27, 2001 at Wait Ross Allanson Chapel, Elgin, the Rev. Thomas O'Connor of St. Paul's United Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be in Ridgewood cemetery, Des Plaines.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m., Thursday in the funeral home.
Gladys Carter
Gladys Carter, 80, of Elgin passed away Saturday, April 21, 2001 at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Elgin.
She was born December 10, 1920 in Millington, TN, the daughter of Otis and Ressy (Price) Cunningham.
On October 25, 1949 she married
Alfred Carter in Chicago. Gladys was a seamstress in the clothing industry until she and Alfred began a family at which time she became a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Survivors include her husband, Rev. Alfred Carter of Elgin; children, Dale Carter of Rockford, Kendall Carter of Elgin, Darlene Jones of Florida, Diane (Alan Longest) Carter of Elgin, Donald R. Carter of Rockford; nine grandchildren, seven great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, April 28, 2001. at O'Connor-Homeier Funeral Home with Pastor Rouse officiating. Internment will be at Lakewood cemetery.
Visitation well be 5 PM to 9PM, Friday, April 27 at the O'Connor-Homeier Funeral Home at 364 E. Division St., Elgin, and will continue at 10 AM, Saturday until time of services.
Florence G. Bartelt
Florence G. Bartelt, 85, of Hoffman Estates, formerly of Elgin, passed away Friday, April 23, 2004 at Sherman Hospital, Elgin. She was born July 5, 1918 in Huntley, the daughter of Nels and Esther Kaiser Anderson. She was a graduate of Elgin High School in 1937. She had been a resident of Elgin before moving to the Arlington Heights area in 1955 and then to Hoffman Estates in 1976. She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, Arlington Heights since 1955.
Surviving are her two sons, Dennis (Linda) Bartelt of Bartlett and Garry Bartelt of Hoffman Estates; four grandchildren, Christopher (Leanne), Eric, Michael and Brian Bartelt; a great granddaughter, Riley; and a brother, Clarence "Andy" (Dorothy) Anderson of Elgin.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Lorence Bartelt in 1985.
Private Funeral Services will be held Monday, April 26, 2004 at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin with Rev. Karl Schmidt officiating. Burial will be in Bluff City cemetery, Elgin. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Bethesda Lutheran Home, Watertown, Wis. or Lutheran Home and Services in Arlington Heights.
Pearl Margaret Baustert
Pearl Margaret Baustert, 100, of Elgin passed away Friday, April 16, 2004 at Sherman West Court, Elgin. She was born January 10, 1904 in LaGrange Park, Illinois, the daughter of John and Emma Kunst Goode. She had been a resident of Elgin her entire life.
She was a 72 year member of VFW Post #1307 Ladies Auxiliary and had served as President in 1933-34. She was a volunteer for the American Red Cross Grey Ladies from 1935-1939. She was an active member of the All-American Drum and Bugle Corp Judges Association, retiring as Chief Judge.
Surviving are her two sons, Burt B. Baustert of Sarasota, FL and James L. Baustert of St. Paul, Minn; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Burt B. Baustert Sr.; thee sisters, Adeline Clarence, Lindy Keheres and Marion Wagner; and four brothers, Joe, Ed, Bill and Raymond Goode.
There will be no memorial services. Laird Funeral Home, Elgin was in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Hospice of Northeastern Illinois.
Edwin W. Duppler
Edwin W. Duppler, 77, of Elgin passed away Saturday, April 24, 2004 in his home. He was born on April 13, 1927 in Elgin, the son of Edward and Mabel Green Duppler. Edwin was a life long resident of Elgin, and graduated from Elgin High School in 1945. He was a veteran and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Edwin was employed by Modern Dairy for 13 years and the Daily Courier News for 25 years before retiring in 1989. He had coached Little League baseball at Elgin American Little League from 1962-70, and served as official scorer at Elgin Classic Little League from 1990-99. Edwin was an avid bowler and enjoyed fishing with his family.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Helen (Kotchuck); five children, Jim (Debbie), Ed (Sharen), Andy (Liz), Bob (Shannon), and Mary Ann (Mike) Moncek; 15 grandchildren, Michael, Steven, Brett, Carrie, Jon, Ivan, Nicole, Christine, Robyn, Kelly, Ryan, Michael, Jaclyn, Brittany and Tyler.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Private graveside services will be held at 10 AM in Mt. Hope cemetery, Elgin. Visitation will be on Monday from 4 to 9 PM in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Barbara Haeger Estes
Barbara Haeger Estes died on April 21, 2004 in Naples, Florida.
She was the daughter of the late Edmund H. and Vera (Betty) Haeger.
She was preceded by her husband, Joseph F. Estes and a grandson.
She was reared in Dundee, Illinois where she resided until wintering in Florida from 1973 onward.
She was educated at the Frances Shimer Girls School in Mt. Carroll, Illinois and at Iowa State University where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi woman's fraternity.
She was active in civic affairs in the Dundee Woman's Club, Sherman Hospital Auxiliary, Congregational Church Guild, the Garden Club of Barrington, all of which she served as President. She was a member of the National Society of Colonial Dames of America. She was a member of the Naples Yacht Club and the Port Royal Club.
She is survived by a daughter, Victoria Heath of Greensboro, N.C.; a son, Nicholas and wife Mimi of Macomb, Illinois; a daughter, Alexandra Zachrich and her husband Craig of Barrington Hills, Illinois; seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. John McQuillan and their three sons.

A Memorial Service will be held on May 27, 11:00 a.m. at the First Congregational Church, Main Street, West Dundee, Illinois.
Ruth L. Greenaway
Ruth L. Greenaway, age 82 of Geneva, formerly of Elgin, passed away Saturday, April 24, 2004 at St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin, IL. She was born June 17, 1921 in Filbert, SC, to William and Olive Lynn.
Mrs. Greenaway was a member of Hosanna! Lutheran Church, and formerly lived in Willow Lake Estates in Elgin.
She is survived by two daughters, Lynda Fernow of Geneva and Laura (John) Meador of Hampshire; five grandchildren, Kara (Jason) King, Kevin (Brandy) and Kelly Fernow, Matthew and Katie Meador.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George C. Greenaway in 1998; her parents; three brothers; and a sister.
Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 27 at Hosanna! Lutheran Church, St. Charles, IL. Rev Barry Scott officiating. Burial will be at River Valley cemetery in West Dundee, IL. Visitation will be Tuesday from 10 a.m. until time of the service at church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hosanna!
