Caroline M. Hilton
Caroline M. Hilton, 59, of South Elgin, passed away Thursday, April 26, 2001.
She was born May 21, 1941 in Hamilton Co., Iowa, the daughter of Francis and Laura (Miller) Brown.
Caroline was a Hair Stylist at the Razor's Edge in Elgin for many years prior to her retirement. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Survivors include two children, Ronell (Robert) DeLoncker and Rod (Karen)Hilton, both of Elgin; seven grandchildren; her sister, Janice (Clifford) Wolfe of Arizona; her brother, James (Nobiko) Brown of California.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard A. Hilton Jr. in 1991.
Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m., Saturday in the Hosanna Lutheran Church, corner of Randall Rd. and Crane Rd., St. Charles, the Rev. Barry Scott officiating. Burial will be in Bluff City cemetery, Elgin.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m., Friday in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin and on Saturday at the church starting at 10:30 a.m. until the time of services.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cancer Benefit Fund for Caroline Hilton, c/o Elgin State Bank.
James P. Hornyak
James P. Hornyak, 89, passed away Monday, April 16, 2001 in Phoenix, AZ where he lived for 19 years.
He was born September 17, 1911 near Pittsburgh, PA.
Formerly of Plato Center, IL, he was a retired farmer, Plato Road Commissioner, and worked for the State Highway Department. In later years, he operated a grader for Kaneland Construction and Curran Construction Co.
Survivors include two daughters, Karen (Paul) Roswold of Genoa and Jeanean Hornyak of Phoenix; three grandchildren, Susie (Al) Nietzel of Osxhott, England, Scott (Karen) Roswold of Batavia, and Doug Hornyak of Glendale, AZ; four great-grandchildren; a sister and brother in Pennsylvania.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Verna, on November 21, 1999.
Victoria E. Lueck
Victoria E. Lueck, 92, of Dublin Manor died Thursday, April 19, 2001 in MidMichigan Medical Center.
She was born Oct. 14, 1908 in Grybow, Poland, the daughter of Stanley and Catherine (Tarasek) Mikulski.
She came to the United States when she was four years old and grew up in Georgetown, Ill. She married
Albert Lueck, Feb. 6, 1932 in Dundee and lived most of her life there.
Survivors include her sons, Albert (Mary) of Midland, Mich. and Roger (Yvette) of Steamboat Springs, Colo.; a brother, John Mikulski of Hoffman Estates; her sisters, Nellie Ross, Josephine (Vincent) Suchaczewski and Annie Cravens, all of Georgetown, Ill., Helen McKinley of Solon, Ohio, Lottie (Duane) Wickiser of Statesboro, Ga.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband on June 24, 1981; two sisters, Mary and Stephanie; and a brother, Edward.
A Memorial Service will be 11 a.m., Friday, May 11, 2001 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Dundee. Burial will be private in Dundee Township East cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, Midland, Mich., Immanuel Lutheran Church, Dundee, Ill. or St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church, Georgetown, Ill.

Raymond Meinke
Raymond Meinke, 84, of Union, IL died Wednesday, April 25, 2001, in Harmony, IL.
The son of John and Emma Brasch Meinke, on June 1, 1940, in Union, he married
Erna Thurow who died April 15, 1987, and on September 20, 1989, in Union, he married
Helen Bloedorn Kunde.
He was head meat cutter for Gromer's Supermarket in Elgin and retired in 1980 after 40 years of service. A former member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Huntley (for 48 years) and St. John's Lutheran Church in Union (for 18 years). A member of the Belvidere Moose, member of the Algamated Meat Cutters Union Local 189 (for 40 years).
Surviving are: his wife, Helen, of Union; step-sons, Gale (Bonnie) Kunde of Belvidere and Larry Kunde of Marengo; step-daughters: Bonnie Lamz and Ginny (Ed) Sytsma, all of Union; two sisters: Alvina Leetzow and Lois Swanson, both of Bradenton, FL; ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Edwin, and a sister, Dorothy.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m., Friday, April 27, at the MARENGO-UNION FUNERAL HOME, 505 E. Grant Hwy., Marengo, and from 10 a.m., Saturday, April 28, at St. John's Lutheran Church, 6621 Main St., Union, with funeral services at 11 a.m. Pastor Norm Meyer officiating.
Interment will be in Huntley cemetery. Memorials may be made in his name to St. John's Lutheran Church.
Daniel W. Meskell
Daniel W. Meskell, 82, of Crystal Lake, formerly of Bartlett, passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2001 in Sherman Hospital, Elgin.
He was born March 3, 1919 in Chicago, the son of Daniel M. and Eleanor Tyk Meskall.
He had been a resident of Bartlett from 1955 until 1976 and been a resident of Crystal Lake for the past 15 years. He was employed as a U.S. Government inspector for the Department of Defense before retiring. He was a veteran of W.W. II serving in the U.S. Navy.
Survivors include two daughters, Yvonne (George) Jones of Elgin and Kathleen (Donald) Miller of West Dundee; three granddaughters, Kim (Chuck)Butera, Meredith Miller and Valerie Miller; two great-grandsons, Kenneth andDaniel Butera; a sister, Marie (Harold)Giese of Huntley; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, FrancesMeloun Meskell on May 4, 1991; and two sisters, Annie in infancy and EleanorGorski.
Funeral Mass will be 9:30 a.m., Saturday, April 28, 2001 in St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, West Dundee, the Rev. William Antillion officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph cemetery, River Grove.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m., Friday in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin and Saturday in the church from 9 a.m. until the time of Mass.

Larry Joe Overath
A resident of Godfrey, Larry Joe Overath, age 58, passed to Eternal Life on Thursday, April 26, 2001, at his home.
Born September 12, 1942 in Alton, IL, he was a son of Charles "Chick" and Fern (Wild) Overath. He also resided in Alton, IL, Portsmouth, VA, and Shipman, IL. After graduating from Alton Senior High School in June 1960, he entered the U.S. Navy (September 1960). On September 12, 1961 he married
Maureen Kay Parkins, daughter of Morris and Grace (Leeds) Parkins. Following his term of enlistment, he completed his B.S. Ed. (1968) and his M.S. Ed (1973) at SIUE. He then taught in the Alton School District from 1968 to 1995 and coached the Alton High School boys and girls golf teams for 25 years. After retiring in 1995, he continued to pursue his interests in golf. Especially important was the companionship he obtained with his golfing buddies in the "No Sandbaggers" group. He also began teaching driver's education for the East Alton-Wood River School District on a part time basis and subbed in the Alton School District for five years until he became seriously ill in January 2001. Larry was also a lifetime member of NEA-IEA.
He will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Kay; his two daughters: Mauri Leigh (Shane) Seiler of Alton and Jill Anne (Jason) Unverzagt of Belleville, IL; his parents; his brother, Charles Wayne (Rita) Overath of Belleville, IL; a sister, Jeanne (Bill) Salmond of Cumming, GA. Also surviving are many special nieces and nephews and five Godchildren: Melissa (Overath) Thornburg of Chesterfield, MO, Todd and Andrew Olson of Elgin, IL, and Steven and Jeffrey Pan of San Marino, CA.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, Matthew Morris Overath, on July 25, 1962.
To celebrate his life, memorial services will be held at the First Christian Church, 760 Washington Avenue in Alton, IL on Sunday, at 3 p.m. Pastor Jim Johnston will preside.

Ernestine Patton
Ernestine Patton, 45, of Elgin, died Monday, April 23, 2001 at Sherman Hospital, Elgin.
She was born June 14, 1955 in Earle, Ark., the daughter of Parker and Ivet Maze Patton.
Ernestine was employed by GrandVictoria Casino for the past five years in the Food and Beverage Department.
Survivors include her mother of Missouri; three brothers, Willie Patton of Chicago, John H. Patton and Cornelis Patton, both of Elgin; four sisters, Odessa (Dwight) Hill and Oretha (Jerome) Taylor, all of Elgin, Gloria G. Patton and Bessie Patton, both of Missouri; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Visitation will be from 12 noon on Sat., April 28, 2001 at the Living Gospel Church of God in Christ, 1515 Dundee Ave., Elgin until the time of Funeral Services at 1 p.m., the Rev. Walter Blalark officiating. Interment will be in Bluff City cemetery, Elgin.
Arrangements are being handled by O'Connor and Homeier Funeral Home, Elgin.
Lewis Wendt
Lewis Wendt, 64, of Carpentersville, died Tuesday, April 24, 2001 in Kindred Hospital, Sycamore.
He was born in Elgin on June 29, 1936, the son of Walter A. and Mabel J. (Schuld) Wendt.
He was a lifelong resident of the area. He served with the U.S. Marine Corp. in Vietnam in 1968. He was a U.S. Air Force Reserve retired veteran. He was a member of the Teamster Local #330 of Elgin; a member of Faith Lutheran Church; a life member of VFW Dundee Post #2298; member of the Carpentersville Lions Club and also a member of the Elgin American Legion Post #57.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanne "Gigi", whom he married
on May 26, 1996; a son, Walter (Leisa) of Union; four daughters, Kim (the late Dan) Lonscar of Ingleside, Robin (Roger) Butler of Geneva, Johanna (William) Vincent of Carpentersville and Ti'ara (Bruce) Rozell of Elgin; six step-children, Catherine McClellen of Greenlake, Wis., William (Sandra) of Elburn, Robert of Elgin, James (Brenda) of Silver Springs, Fla., David of San Gabriel of California, and Brian (Patricia) of Carpentersville; 28 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, Rudy (Donna) of Genoa; a sister, Doris (Ernest) Dziewior of East Dundee; and his mother, Mabel Wendt of Carpentersville.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dixie J. Wendt; a brother, Robert; his father, Walter; a sister-in-law, Shirley; and a grandson, Brian Butler.
Memorial services will be 10 a.m., Saturday, April 28 in the Faith Lutheran Church of Carpentersville, the Rev. Bruce Meissner officiating. Burial will be private.
Visitation will be 4-9 p.m., Friday in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Carpentersville Lions Club.
Eric S. Andres II
Eric S. Andres II, 24, of South Elgin passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2001 in Lutheran General Hospital, Park Ridge from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
He was born June 16, 1976 in Elgin, the son of Eric and Rose Camposano Andres.
He was a resident of Elgin most of his life and had lived in South Elgin for the past two years. He was employed by Fleet Expedite in Elk Grove Village as Warehouse Manager.
Survivors include his wife, Jayde Holder Andres, whom he married
on June 16, 1999; a daughter, Halie; two sons, Eric S. III and Austin Scott Andres; his parents of South Elgin; two sisters,Michelle (Aaron) Heckert of Pennsylvania and Stephenie Andres (Jim Kahl) of West Dundee; two brothers, Chris (Amy) Andres of Elgin and Steve (Nichole) Andres of South Elgin; his paternal grandparents, Roland and Lucille Andres of Tucson, Ariz.; nieces and nephews, Matt,Miranda, Zachary, Jacob, Jimmy, Tara, Mikey and Amaryah; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Jose and Ignacia Camposano; an aunt, Connie Camposano Calixto; and two uncles, Keith John Andres and Jose Camposano Jr.
Funeral Services will be 1 p.m., Monday in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin, the Rev. Mark Ahrens officiating. Burial will be in Dundee Township East cemetery, East Dundee.
Visitation will be 2-9 p.m., Sunday in the funeral home.
