Joan Marie Van Dusen Price
Joan Marie Van Dusen Price, 70, of Venice, FL, formerly of Elgin and Algonquin, passed away Friday, April 15, 2005 at Venice Regional Hospital. She was born February 7, 1935 in Ringwood, IL, the daughter of Robert and Mina Lawrence Van Dusen. She had been a resident of Elgin for over 40 years before moving to Algonquin in 1980 and Venice in 1992. She was a former employee of Shakeproof Division of Illinois Tool Works and American Can Co.
She was a charter member and first president of the Dundee/Algonquin Lioness Club.
Surviving are her husband, Richard Price, whom she married
on October 17, 1970; seven children, Estelle (Dan) Moorhouse, Barb Williams, Julie Williams, Susan Price, Craig Williams, Dale (Sandy) Price and Jack (Liz) Price; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; a sister, Pat Van Dusen Crandall; two brothers, Robert (Pat) Van Dusen and Larry (Kris) Van Dusen.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 29 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Elgin with Rev. Olin Sletto officiating. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park, Elgin. Visitation will be held Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Wait Ross Allanson Funeral & Cremation Services, Elgin and Friday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services in the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society or the Lions of Illinois Foundation.
Dennis P. Rezendes
Dennis P. Rezendes, 60 of Crystal Lake, died Monday, April 25, 2005 at Woodstock Memorial Hospital.
Dennis enjoyed fishing and was a musician for 50 years, as well as a member of many bands. He loved woodworking, grilling, and his beloved family.
He was preceded by parents, Anibal and Rose.
Dennis is survived by three children, Eric (Kari) Rezendes of Malta, Lisa (Doug Sedlak) Rezendes of Crystal Lake, and Adam Rezendes of St. Charles; one granddaughter, Courtney; two brothers, AL and Dave Rezendes; three sisters, Ellie Doucet, Gennie Miller, and Lorry Lyons; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 28, 2005 at the O'Connor-Leetz Funeral Home, Elgin, from 4:00 until 8:00 PM, with a prayer service at 7:00 PM.

Mabel Larsen Stankaitis
Mabel Larsen Stankaitis, 91, of Elgin passed away Sunday, April 24, 2005 in Provena St. Joseph Hospital. She was born September 21, 1913 in Brooklyn, New York, the daughter of Marto and Grunda (Christensen) Larsen.
Mabel and her husband, William, moved to Elgin in 1976, she was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Elgin. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include a daughter, Carolyn (Donald) Bruneman of Elgin; four grandchildren, Christine Bruneman, Clifford (Jennifer) Bruneman, Clayton (Amy) Bruneman, Cynthia Bruneman; four great grandchildren, Samuel, Olivia, Ashley and Alexis Bruneman; and a brother, Martin (Agnes) Larsen of Staten Island, New York.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M> Wednesday, April 27, 2005 in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. Burial will follow in Bluff City cemetery, Elgin. Visitation will be held tonight from 4:00-8:00 PM in the funeral home.
Frank Albert Chapman
Frank Albert Chapman, 72, passed away Sunday, April 25 in his home in Valley Springs, South Dakota.
Survived by his children, Scott (Lynda) Chapman of Elgin, IL, Tamara (Bruce) Severson of Marengo, IL, Brian (Patricia) Chapman of Prior Lake, MN; his companion, Sandy Siewert of Valley Springs, South Dakota; four grandchildren, Alexandra, Andrew, Tara and Taylor; 11 brothers and sisters, Mildred Johnson, Evelyn Campbell, Robert Chapman, Howard Chapman, Roger Chapman, George Chapman, Virginia Flores, Ennis Chapman, Carol Bakey, James Chapman and Shirley Hillshien.
preceded in death by his wife of 32 years, Donna (Hunding) Chapman; his parents, Frank Albert Chapman, Sr. and Helen Roberts.
He was born in Burlington, IL on May 16, 1931. He was a carpenter for Robert Gould Construction for 20 years and then started Frank Chapman Construction until his retirement. Member of the First United Methodist Church of Elgin, Loyal Order of the Moose and veteran of the Korean War.
There will be a memorial service held on Saturday, May 8 at Burlington Methodist Church at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Burlington Methodist Church would be appreciated.
Leazear Margaret Davis (nee King)
Leazear Margaret Davis (nee King) was born on March 15, 1915 on Madeswood Plantation in Orleans Parish in New Orleans, LA to the late George and Mary (James) King. She departed this life on April 23, 2004 at the home her son in Evanston, IL.
Leazear found Christ at an early age and has walked in the light ever since. She lived a rich and full life always willing to help whomever she could. She moved to Elgin in 1950 and united with Second Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Jefferson, since then she has called any church she may be at on a given day her church home. She attended many churches all over Elgin. She would visit nursing homes and hospitals to pray for those she knew and those that she didn't. Many people came to call her "Mother" and loved her very much.
Three husbands, Ernest Surbadger, Joseph Rayfield Sr., and Charles E. Davis Sr. preceded her in death. Her parents, George and Mary King also preceded her; three brothers, Jack, Alonzo and Arthur King; one sister, Maple (nee King) Certain; two daughters, Nancy Lorraine Rayfield in infancy and Clarissa Vallery; a son, Joseph Rayfield Jr; and a great grandson. She leaves to cherish her memory three daughters, Dolores Jackson of Gretna, LA, Mary Alice (Donald) Shores of Sioux City, IA and Barbara Redmon of Carpentersville, IL; three sons, Alonzo (Doris) Rayfield of South Elgin, IL, Henry (Ellen) Rayfield of Evanston, IL and Harry Rayfield of Ottawa, IL; a god son, L.C. Chambers of Elgin; and three step sons, Charles E. Davis Jr. of Elgin, IL, Lloyd Rayfield of Washington and Dr. Ralph Rayfield of Virginia; two step daughters, Amanda Howard of Chicago, IL and Rita Dorbigny of New Orleans, LA. She has 41 grandchildren; 82 great grandchildren; 27 great great grandchildren; and well as a host of beloved people who adopted her as their mother along with a host of other relatives.
She worked for Kerber Meat Packing in Elgin as well as domestic work for Dr. Curtis Dean and Mrs. Alan Sheehan of Wayne, IL.
Leazear had been a member of the Household of Ruth, the American War Mothers and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Fox Valley Chapter #137 of which she was very active until her health began to fail. She also was a member of the Mothers Board of the church. She was fondly called Mother Davis or mama "D". She spread a lot of love around because she had so much to give.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by O'Connor-Leetz Funeral Home. Services will be held at Second Baptist Church, 1280 Summit in Elgin on Saturday, May 1, 2004 at 11 AM. The wake will be on Friday, April 30, 2004 at O'Connor-Leetz Funeral Home, 364 Division St., Elgin IL from 4 to 9 PM and on Saturday at the church from 9 AM until the time of services at 11 AM. So please join us to celebrate her life and send her home in Peace, Love and Happiness.
Hazel P. Glenn
Hazel P. Glenn was born March 13, 1914 in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania to Samuel and Laura (Free) Kirkner. She passed away Thursday, April 22, 2004 at her home in Geary, Oklahoma at the age of 90.
Hazel attended school in Valley Forge, PA. It was there that she was united in marriage to Robert Glenn on November 7, 1936. The two moved to Illinois in the 1950s. In 1975, they moved to Rochester, New Hampshire. After Robert's passing on August 3, 1978, Hazel returned to Illinois and then later to Oklahoma, where she resided in Kingfisher and finally Geary. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. Hazel had a great love for her family and animals as well.
Survivors include four children, Beverly Miller of Newberlinville, PA, Sarah (Richard) Leitner of Geary, OK, Robert Glenn of Oak Park, IL, and Joyce Glenn of Elgin; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.
Hazel was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Laura Kirkner; her husband, Robert Glenn; and many brothers and sisters.
Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. at Turner Funeral Home Chapel, Geary, OK with Rev. Trish Harris officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the First United Methodist Church of Geary, OK or to the charity of one's choice.

Robert W. Groves
Robert W. Groves, 78, of Elgin passed away at his home Monday, April 26, 2004. He was born December 22, 1925 in Chicago, the son of James H. and Marie Faulkert Groves. A life-long resident of Elgin, he graduated from Elgin High School in 1943. He was employed by Elgin Quality Laundry and Cleaners for more than 35 years. He was also employed at the Evelyn Laundromat and at Top Coverage in Elgin. He served his country as a member of the Merchant Marine.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of Elgin.
Surviving are his wife, Iris Rahn Groves, whom he married
on June 1, 1946; three daughters, Marcia (Fred) Bixby of Cary, Linda (Joel) Ludwig of Woodstock, Lori (Gene) Brown of Fox River Grove; two sons, Michael (Christine) Groves of Elgin and Jay (Doris) Groves of Bloomington; 16 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, James (Phyllus) Groves Carpentersville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Cloris, Marvin, and Richard Groves; a daughter-in-law, Josephine Groves.
Bob was a loving and generous husband, brother, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. An avid golfer, Bob enjoyed winter vacations in Naples, FL and summer trips to Door County, WI. His warmth and sense of humor will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Memorial Services will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin with Rev. Ron Purser officiating. Burial will be private in Lakewood Memorial Park, Elgin. Denise A. Lawson
Denise A. Lawson, 44, of Elgin passed away on Saturday, April 24, 2004 at her home. She was born on September 28, 1959 in Queens, NY,
She lived in Elgin for more than 15 years and attended Bethesda Church of God in Christ. She was also a poet.
She is survived by her parents, Willie Harris and Maxie (Robert) Hamilton; her husband, Darryl; her daughter, Akiya Harris; her grandchild, Joe Von Lucret; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and in-laws.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Alfonzo and Inez Cross; her aunts, Joyce Adams and MaeElla Broadnax; three cousins, Brandon and Ade Latin-wo and Sharon Broadnax; and her father-in-law, William Lawson.
Funeral services will be on Friday, April 30 at 2 PM at Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park St., Elgin with a visitation from 12 Noon until time of service. Burial will be private. Arrangements by Madison Funeral Home, 847-741-1128.
James (Jim) R. Waterson
James (Jim) R. Waterson, age 73, of Gurnee, IL, formerly of Elgin, IL, died peacefully at his home in Gurnee on Wednesday, April 21, 2004. He was born March 31, 1931 in Ohio.
He is survived by his former wife, Mary Ellen (Fraser); children, Mark and Leslie; sister, Mary Elisabeth.
A Memorial Service in his honor will be held on Thursday, April 29 from 5 to 8 PM at MARSH FUNERAL HOME OF GURNEE, 305 cemetery Road, Gurnee, IL. A Sharing of Remembrance will be held at 7:00 PM.
Interment was private.

Alice Jayne Campbell
Alice Jayne Campbell, 84 of Elgin died Friday, April 222 in her home in San Diego, California.
She was born March 14, 1921 in Elgin and was the daughter of William Pratt and Alice Pixley Carpenter. She graduated from Elgin High School in 1939. During World War II she served as a volunteer aide at Sherman Hospital. She was a member of the League of Women Voters, Altrusa Club and BPW (Business and Professional Women) of Elgin. She was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society for many years. She was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church of Elgin where she had taught Sunday School and helped in the church office. In that church on June 10, 1950 she was married
to Chester M. Campbell of Chicago.
Alice Jayne's proudest accomplishment was owning and operating Trails and Treasures tea room and antique shop on the Fox River in Elgin. Opened in 1967, she ran the restaurant with the help of her family until 1994.
Alice Jayne was an avid and passionate collector of Teddy Bears, believing in their enduring ability to comfort and uplift. All of her bears were good friends, more treasured with the passing of time. Her strong and loving presence will be greatly missed by her family and many close friends.
Surviving is one son, Greg of San Diego, California; one daughter, Patricia (Michael) Kramer of Elgin; one granddaughter, Keriann of Elgin; one grandson, Gregory of Elgin.
Preceded by parents; her husband, Chester in 1996; one brother, Philip Carpenter.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:00 P.M. in the Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State St., Elgin. Burial will be in Bluff City cemetery. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. Memorials may be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation or to the University of California, Advanced Lung Disease Program.
