Cathrine I. Coester
Cathrine I. Coester, 95, of Elgin, passed away Tuesday, in her home. She was born on November 7, 1909 in Lynchburg, VA. Cathrine had worked at the Elgin National Watch Factory for many years, prior to her retirement.
She is survived by three sons, Donald (Beverly) of Elgin, Gene (Cynthia) of Elgin and Kenneth (Hazel) of Cary, IL; ten grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leonard in 1969; and her brother and sister.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, April 29, 2005 at 1:00 PM in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. Burial will be private. Visitation will be held on Friday from 12:00 Noon until the time of services.

Carol A. Jennings
Carol A. Jennings, 57, of Elgin, passed away Monday, April 25, 2005 at Sherman Hospital, Elgin. She was born September 15, 1947 in Paris, TN, the daughter of Raymond and Willie May Freeman Sykes. She was a homemaker and had been a resident of Elgin for many years.
Surviving are her husband, Gary M. Jennings; three daughters, Tina (Bruce) Hartman of South Elgin, Michelle (Sean) Riley of Rockford, Heather (Joseph) Bade of Genoa; eight grandchildren; one great granddaughter; three sister, Barbara (William) Crites and Fay (Carter) Harbin both of Canton, Georgia, Kay (Doug) Gill of Fordyce, Arkansas; four brothers, John Sykes of Paris, TN, Harold and Curtis Sykes of Canton, Georgia and Roger (Judy) Sykes of Elgin.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m., Thursday, April 28, 2005 at LAIRD FUNERAL HOME, Elgin with Rev. Mark Simon officiating. Burial will be in Bluff City cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home.

Dennis P. "Dino" Rezendes
Dennis P. Rezendes, 60 of Crystal Lake, died Monday, April 25, 2005 at Woodstock Memorial Hospital.
Dennis enjoyed fishing and was a musician for 50 years, as well as a member of many bands. He loved woodworking, grilling, and his beloved family.
He was preceded by parents, Anibal and Rose.
Dennis is survived by three children, Eric (Kari) Rezendes of Malta, Lisa (Doug Sedlak) Rezendes of Crystal Lake, and Adam Rezendes of St. Charles; one granddaughter, Courtney; two brothers, AL and Dave Rezendes; three sisters, Ellie Doucet, Gennie Miller, and Lorry Lyons; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 28, 2005 at the O'Connor-Leetz Funeral Home, Elgin, from 4:00 until 8:00 PM, with a prayer service at 7:00 PM.

Leazear Margaret Davis (nee King)
Leazear Margaret Davis (nee King) was born on March 15, 1915 on Madeswood Plantation in Orleans Parish in New Orleans, LA to the late George and Mary (James) King. She departed this life on April 23, 2004 at the home her son in Evanston, IL.
Leazear found Christ at an early age and has walked in the light ever since. She lived a rich and full life always willing to help whomever she could. She moved to Elgin in 1950 and united with Second Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Jefferson, since then she has called any church she may be at on a given day her church home. She attended many churches all over Elgin. She would visit nursing homes and hospitals to pray for those she knew and those that she didn't. Many people came to call her "Mother" and loved her very much.
Three husbands, Ernest Surbadger, Joseph Rayfield Sr., and Charles E. Davis Sr. preceded her in death. Her parents, George and Mary King also preceded her; three brothers, Jack, Alonzo and Arthur King; one sister, Maple (nee King) Certain; two daughters, Nancy Lorraine Rayfield in infancy and Clarissa Vallery; a son, Joseph Rayfield Jr; and a great grandson. She leaves to cherish her memory three daughters, Dolores Jackson of Gretna, LA, Mary Alice (Donald) Shores of Sioux City, IA and Barbara Redmon of Carpentersville, IL; three sons, Alonzo (Doris) Rayfield of South Elgin, IL, Henry (Ellen) Rayfield of Evanston, IL and Harry Rayfield of Ottawa, IL; a god son, L.C. Chambers of Elgin; and three step sons, Charles E. Davis Jr. of Elgin, IL, Lloyd Rayfield of Washington and Dr. Ralph Rayfield of Virginia; two step daughters, Amanda Howard of Chicago, IL and Rita Dorbigny of New Orleans, LA. She has 41 grandchildren; 82 great grandchildren; 27 great great grandchildren; and well as a host of beloved people who adopted her as their mother along with a host of other relatives.
She worked for Kerber Meat Packing in Elgin as well as domestic work for Dr. Curtis Dean and Mrs. Alan Sheehan of Wayne, IL.
Leazear had been a member of the Household of Ruth, the American War Mothers and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Fox Valley Chapter #137 of which she was very active until her health began to fail. She also was a member of the Mothers Board of the church. She was fondly called Mother Davis or mama "D". She spread a lot of love around because she had so much to give.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by O'Connor-Leetz Funeral Home. Services will be held at Second Baptist Church, 1280 Summit in Elgin on Saturday, May 1, 2004 at 11 AM. The wake will be on Friday, April 30, 2004 at O'Connor-Leetz Funeral Home, 364 Division St., Elgin IL from 4 to 9 PM and on Saturday at the church from 9 AM until the time of services at 11 AM. So please join us to celebrate her life and send her home in Peace, Love and Happiness.

Arleen A. "Addie" Kocsis
Arleen A. "Addie" Kocsis, 78, of South Elgin passed away Monday, April 26, 2004 in her home. She was born June 28, 1925 in Bellevue, Alberta, Canada, the daughter of Thomas and Deborah Litherland Knowles Jr. She had been a resident of South Elgin since 1957. She had been employed at the South Elgin Post Office before retiring.
She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Elgin. She enjoyed music, swimming, and her grandchildren.
Surviving are two daughters, Pam McCue and Jan Edelbrock; four grandchildren, Kelly, Vernon, Eva, and Flora; one sister, Evelyn McDonald.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Albert A. Kocsis.
Graveside services will be held Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at Bluff City cemetery, Elgin with Rev. Thomas O'Connor officiating. There will be no visitation. Laird Funeral Home, Elgin is in charge of services. Memorials may be given to the charity of one's choice.

Denise A. Lawson
Denise A. Lawson, 44, of Elgin passed away on Saturday, April 24, 2004 at her home. She was born on September 28, 1959 in Queens, NY,
She lived in Elgin for more than 15 years and attended Bethesda Church of God in Christ. She was also a poet.
She is survived by her parents, Willie Harris and Maxie (Robert) Hamilton; her husband, Darryl; her daughter, Akiya Harris; her grandchild, Joe Von Lucret; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and in-laws.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Alfonzo and Inez Cross; her aunts, Joyce Adams and MaeElla Broadnax; three cousins, Brandon and Ade Latin-wo and Sharon Broadnax; and her father-in-law, William Lawson.
Funeral services will be on Friday, April 30 at 2 PM at Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park St., Elgin with a visitation from 12 Noon until time of service. Burial will be private. Arrangements by Madison Funeral Home, 847-741-1128.

Lois C. Quindel
Lois C. Quindel, 56, of Elgin, passed away Tuesday, April 27, 2004 in Provena St. Joseph Hospital. She was born September 7, 1947 in Falmouth, KY and was the daughter of Charles and Marjorie McNees. She had been a resident of Elgin for the past 30 years. She was employed by Sherman Hospital as a lab technician.
She was a member of Evangelical Covenant Church of Elgin.
She is survived by her husband, Gary Quindel; one son, Mark Bray of Belvidere, IL; her mother of Falmouth, KY; one sister, Connie Peed of Falmouth, KY; two brothers, Steve (Lydia) McNees of South Elgin, IL and Rick (Peggy) McNees of Hampshire, IL.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:00 p.m. in the Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State St., Elgin with Rev. Herbert Hedstrom officiating. Burial will be in Bluff City cemetery. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Helen M. Rhinehart
Helen M. Rhinehart, 77, of West Dundee, formerly of Carpentersville, died Monday, April 26, 2004 at Sherman Hospital in Elgin. She was born in Wilmette on June 28, 1926. She was the daughter of Paul and Lena (nee Weber) Meyer.
She is survived by her children, Phyllis (John) Fischer, Jim Brinkman, Shirley (Bob) Zimmerman, Gail (Joe) Cacioppo, Don (Chris) Brinkman, Bill (Lori) Brinkman; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; her sisters, Lucy Carlson and Betty Kenzler.
She was preceded in death by he parents and her husband, Frank Rhinehart. Private family graveside services were held on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in the Dundee Township East cemetery, East Dundee. The Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee was in charge of arrangements.

Lawrence H. Galloway
Lawrence H. Galloway, 88, a resident of Barrington Hills for almost 50 years died Wednesday, April 27, 2005 at the Whitehall Rehabilitation and Care Center of Deerfield. He was born on June 16, 1916 in Quebec, Canada the son of Edward W. and Victoria (nee Hull) Galloway. He was a 1939 graduate of Princeton University, Princeton, New Jersey. He was a former employee for over 35 years of ITW/Fastex where he worked as a Product Design Specialist. Larry was a brilliant engineer and held three patents. He was a long time member of St. James Episcopal Church in West Dundee and a former senior warden of the parish. He was very instrumental in the formation of the Saint James Episcopal Churchyard cemetery. He was a United States Air Force Veteran and served during W.W. II.
Surviving are his six children, Elizabeth Stierhoff, Wendy Ciriegio, Tory Galloway, Laura Bordine, Jody Galloway and Scott Galloway; his eight grandchildren, Lawrence, James, Laura, Carolyn, Sarah, Lindsay, Travis and Margaret.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife of 48 years, Isabel Lindsay Galloway on November 7, 2000; and a brother, Edward W. Galloway, Jr.
Family and friends will meet for Burial Office and Requiem Eucharist on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in the Saint James Episcopal Church, West Dundee. The Rev. James E. Swarthout, Rector will officiate. Private burial will be on Monday in the Evergreen cemetery, Barrington. Memorials may be made to either the St. James Episcopal Church, 516 Washington St., West Dundee or the National Parkinson Foundation, 1501 NW 9th Avenue, Miami, FL 33136-1494. The Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee is in charge of arrangements.

Florence O'Connor
Florence O'Connor, 90 years old, of West Palm Beach, died Wednesday, April 13, 2005. She was born in Barrington, IL on August 7, 1914 and resided in Elgin, IL until 20 years ago when she moved to West Palm Beach where she lived with her son.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Eugene O'Connor.
She is survived by her son, Gordon (Mary Ann) Sherwood of West Palm Beach; grandsons, Gene (Jeannie) Sherwood and Shawn (Susan) Sherwood of Miami; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Kevin and Emily Sherwood; sister, Betty (Vincent) Brady of Elgin, IL; brother, Les (Alice) Rieke of Elgin, IL and brothers-in-law, Frank (Pauline) O'Connor of South Elgin, IL and Danny (Norma) O'Connor of Aurora, IL.
A Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 PM on May 4, 2005, at River Valley Memorial Gardens, 14 North 689 Route 31, West Dundee, IL 60118.

Maureen L. "Mo" (Edwards) Hines
Maureen L. "Mo" (Edwards) Hines, 43, of West Dundee passed away at her home on Saturday, April 28, 2001.
She was born April 9, 1958 in Elgin, the daughter of Robert J. and Dorothy E. (McFall) Edwards.
She was a 1976 graduate of Crown High School. She was united in marriage to Larry G. Hines on December 1, 1979. Maureen worked for Doctors McDonough and Bell and the Mercy Health System. She was a very active member and Sunday School Teacher of First United Methodist Church of West Dundee, enjoyed fishing in Minnesota with her parents and her main love in life was her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Larry; daughters, Sara and Samantha; her parents; sisters, Karen (Steve) Kirkpatrick of Janesville, WI and Colleen (Bill) Garrity of Sycamore; a brother, Jim Edwards of Sycamore; an aunt, Ellen Szalaj of Tinley Park; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Marvin and Fred McFall.
Funeral Services will be at 10 AM Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church of West Dundee with the Rev. Gary P. Waters officiating. Interment will be in Dundee East Township cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday from 3 to 9 PM Monday in the Miller Funeral Home, 504 W. Main Street, West Dundee and from 9 AM Tuesday until the funeral hour at the church.
