Lucile Knupper
Lucile Knupper, 89, of Elgin passed away Saturday, May 1, 2004 in the Apostolic Christian Resthaven, Elgin. She was born on July 27, 1914 in Mason City, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Gertrude (Tietz) Fischer. Lucile, along with her beloved husband, Richard, had owned and operated the Knupper Nursery and Garden Center of Palatine, IL from 1934 until she sold it in 1989. She was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church of Elgin.
Survivors include three children, Margaret (David) Thiessen of Woodstock, IL, Anita (William) Hughey of Oxford, Arkansas and Barbara Knupper of Glenwood Springs, CO; two grandchildren, Kathryn (David) Bond of Cary, IL and Michael Lambert.
preceded in death by her husband, Richard in 1968; her grandparents, Katie and Casper Bruschinsky, who raised her as their own; and her mother-in-law, Minna Knupper.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10 AM in the Apostolic Christian Church, 2750 W. Highland Ave, Elgin. Burial will be in Bluff City cemetery, Elgin. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4 to 8 PM in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin and on Wednesday in the church from 9 AM until time of services. Memorials may be made to the Apostolic Christian Resthaven or church.

Larry K. Leschke
Larry K. Leschke, age 60, of Urbana, IL, formerly of Elgin, died suddenly at 5:41 p.m. on April 27, 2004 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana, IL. He was born February 20, 1944 in Elgin, IL, the son of Wilbert and Frances Wright Leschke.
Mr Leschke was a grocery purchaser for Niemann Foods. He married Sharon Morris on July 30, 1977 at Elgin, IL. She survives.
Also surviving are his mother, Frances of Urbana, IL; one daughter, Stephanie Lane and husband, Ernest of Hanover Park, IL; two sons, Todd Leschke of Centralia, IL, and Troy Leschke and wife, Crystal of West Frankfort, IL; 11 grandchildren, Devonte, Javon, Jasmine, Mariah, and Jordan Lane, Sara, Tiffany, Donovan, Brianna, Zachary and Courtney Leschke; one great-granddaughter, Caylie Leschke; one brother, Donald Leschke and wife, Eileen of Elgin, IL; and his in-laws, Wendell and June Morris of Streamwood, IL. He was preceded in death by his father.
Memorial Services will be held at a later date in Elgin, IL.

Ralph J. Mirs
Ralph J. Mirs, 85, of Carpentersville passed away on May 1, 2004 at Sherman Hospital. He was born on November 11, 1918 and is the son of Charles and Dora Hartman Mirs.
He was employed by Shedd-Bartush in Elgin as a truck driver and retired in 1980 after 23 years.
He is survived by his daughter, Beverly Mirs of Carpentersville and her son, Roger Mirs of Woodstock. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Anrew and Lauren, both of Woodstock; his sister, Ardyme Thorgason of CO.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Florence in 2001; two sisters, Bernice and Frances.
Private family services will be held. Arrangements by Madison Funeral Home 847-741-1128.

Noel L. Ross
Noel L. Ross, 41 of Rockford formerly of Elgin passed away Saturday, May 2, 2004 in Sweedish American Covenant Hospital in Rockford. He was born September 21, 1962 in Jackson, Tenn. and was the son of John and Audrey Ross.
Member of Living Gospel Church of God in Elgin.
Surviving 3 sisters, Johnna Ross of Rockford, Dorie Clark of Portland, Oregon, Jeanette Garcia of Elgin. 9 bothers, John (Diane) Blalark of Rockford, IL. Louis (Betty) Clark of Cartersville, Georgia, Nelson Blalark, Darrell Ross, Sam Houston, Victor (Crystal) Ross, Oliver (Erica) Houston and Wayne Houston of Elgin and Baron Ross of Dixon, IL.
Preceded by parents, his step mother, Mary, H. Ross.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 12:30 P.M. in the Living Gospel Church of God with Rev. Walter Blalark officiating. Burial will be in Buff City cemetery. Visitation will be in the church on Friday from 12:00 noon until time of services. Laird Funeral Home in Elgin is in charge of services.

Norma G. Schmitendorf
Norma G. Schmitendorf, 81, of Hampshire, passed away Sunday night, May 2, 2004 at Rosewood Care Center in Elgin.
She was born April 12, 1923 in Elgin the daughter of William and Blanche (Antonides) Albright. Norma grew up in the Huntley area and Plato Center area where she was a valedictorian of the 1941 graduating class of Plato Center High School. Norma married Donald G. Schmitendorf on November 14, 1942 in Plato Center and they farmed in the Hampshire area for most of their married life. She had been employed as a secretary for Prairie State Select Sires in Pingree Grove for 23 years, retiring in October of 1993. Mrs. Schmitendorf was a longtime member of the St. Peter Lutheran Church of Pingree Grove.
Surviving are four children, Kathryn "Kay" (Dan) Cox, Gail (Larry) Thompson, Patti Schmitendorf, William (Sharon) Schmitendorf all of Hampshire; 17 grandchildren, Tracy (Tom) Oranger, Tammy (Charlie) Reser, Tara (Daniel) Smith, Tina Cox, Brenda (Alan) Fuller, Alan (Tracy) Thompson, Steve Thompson, Rachel (Andrew) Benson, Gwen (Jason) Christianson, Lucas Haberstich, Adam Haberstich, Brent Schmitendorf, Jeremiah (Mandy) Schmitendorf, Matt Schmitendorf, Lori (Dave) Scheffler, Amber (Bret) Phillips and Ron Geske; 31 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many good friends.
Mrs. Schmitendorf was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald on December 20, 1980; brothers, Warren and David Albright; and grandson, Michael Thompson.
Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 5, at the St. Peter Lutheran Church, 14N205 Reinking Rd., in Pingree Grove with the Rev. Loren Krout officiating. Burial will be in the Hampshire Center cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Fredrick Funeral Home, 284 Park St., Hampshire and on Wednesday prior to services from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the church.
Memorial contributions in her name may be directed to the St. Peter Lutheran Church of Pingree Grove.

Arthur W. Waterman
Arthur W. Waterman, 88, 0f Elgin, IL passed away Thursday, April 28, 2004 in the Rosewood Care Center, Elgin. He was born on May 25, 1915 in Bartlett, IL and was the son of Ben and Emma Krunnfusz Waterman. Resident of Elgin for most of his life. Art had owned and operated an Advertising and Promotions company prior to his retirement.
Member of the Coroner Stone Methodist Church of Plato Center, member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #799 and member of the Elgin Golden "K" Kiwanis Club.
Survivors include his sister, Ariel D. Bruhn of Elgin; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Carolyn.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in the Dundee Twp. East cemetery, East Dundee, with Rev. Meyers officiating.

Roger L. Anderson
Roger L. Anderson, 69 of Elgin, passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2005 in Provena St. Joseph Hospital.
He was born October 4, 1935 in Elgin and was the son of Donald and Eula Anderson. He had been a resident of Dundee for many years and graduated from Dundee High School in 1953. He attended College in St. Louis, Missouri. He was a veteran having served in the Marines from 1953 to 1956. He had been employed by Union Special Crop. in Huntley for over 30 years before retiring.
Member of the Evangelical Covenant Church in Elgin. Member of American Legion Post No. 57 of Elgin.
Surviving are wife, Dorothy Peterson Anderson to whom he was married to on September 15, 1956; three daughters, Diana (Steven) Odlin of Elgin, Donna (Timothy) Sell of Belvidere, IL and Darlene (Scott) Claxton of Brighton, Michigan; one son, Randy Anderson of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin; nine grandchildren, Stephanie and Lance Corporal Jonathon Odlin, Benjamin and Katherine Anderson, Anthony Colangelo, Becky, Chrissy, Tim and April Sell; many nieces and nephews and friends.
preceded in death by parents; one sister, Mary Thrun; two brothers, Gordon and Jerry Anderson.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:30 A.M. in the Evangelical Covenant Church, 1565 Larkin Ave., Elgin with Rev. Herbert Hedstrom officiating. Burial will be in Bluff City cemetery. Visitation will be in the Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State St., Elgin on Thursday from 3:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. and then at the church on Friday from 10:30 A.M. until time of services. Memorials may be given to Evangelical Covenant church or to Provena St. Joseph Hospital or to the charity of your choice.

Margaret L. Butcher
Margaret L. Butcher, 87, of Carpentersville, died Monday, May 2, 2005 at her home. She was born in East Dundee on May 16, 1917. She was the daughter of August and Alvina (nee Goers) Reko. She was a life long resident of the Dundee area and a life long member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church of East Dundee.
She is survived by her sons, Brad (Barbara) Butcher and Steven Butcher, both of Carpentersville; her daughter-in-law, Donna Kinney Butcher of Dundee Township; her grandsons, Brent, Jay, Aaron and Justin; and her sister, Hildegarde Brinkmann of Petersburg, IL; several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Glenn G. Butcher; her son, Kurt D. Butcher; her brother, Edmund Reko; her sisters, Aleta Ikert, Mildred Bowers, and Ruth Fink Block.
Family and friends will meet for graveside funeral services on Thursday at 1:0 P.M. at the Dundee Township East cemetery, East Dundee. The Rev. Scott Seidler will officiate. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to the Immanuel Lutheran Church Faithfulness Fund. The Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee is in charge of arrangements.

Sarah J. "Sally" Fisk
Sarah J. "Sally" Fisk, 73 of Dix, Illinois, formerly of Elgin passed away Saturday, April 30, 2005 in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. She was born February 2, 1932 in Peoria. She had been a resident of Elgin for over 30 years and lived in Dix for the past 13 years.
She was a former member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Elgin.
Surviving are her husband, Daniel E. Fisk whom she married on June 7, 1951; four children, Kevin (Judy) Fisk of St. Charles, Monica Fisk (Scott Kovalt) of Dix, Shawn (Michael) Mutehart of Elgin, Daniel (Alma) Fisk of Genoa; and 14 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother.
Funeral Mass will be held 12:00 Noon, Friday, May 6, 2005 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Elgin with Rev. Jim Canova officiating. Burial will be in Bluff City cemetery, Elgin. Visitation will be held Thursday from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Wait Ross Allanson Funeral & Cremation Services Chapel, Elgin.

Robert B. Klemm
Robert B. Klemm, 83 of Elgin passed away Monday, May 2, in Sherman Hospital.
He was born March 14, 1922 in DeKalb and was the son of William and Margaret Klemm. He was a resident of Elgin since 1947. He was a veteran, having served in the Army during WWII.
Member of Elgin Rock and Mineral Society. Member of Teamsters Union.
Surviving wife, Muriel; one daughter, Diane Williams of Colorado; one son, Roger (Mary) Klemm of Colorado; one grandson, R. J. Williams of Colorado; two sisters, Victoria (Arthur) Balcom of California and Patricia Anderson of Washington; one sister-in-law, Natalie (George) Klemm of California.
Preceded by parents; three sisters; and one brother.
Private services were held in the Laird Funeral Home with private burial. No visitation. Memorials may be given to the charity of your choice.

Willie Ivory Williams "Gramps"
Willie Ivory Williams, of Elgin, died Wednesday, April 27, 2005, at Sherman Hospital. He was born October 28, 1936 in Milesville, MS the son of George W. and Lillie Iola (Dickins) Williams.
Willie was a quiet man loved by all those who knew him, and had been a foreman at Elgin Salvage for 39 years from 1963 to 2002. He was a proud member and Deacon of the Philidelphia Missionary Baptist Church in Elgin. Willie was also an avid bowler and played on the Tri-City Mix Bowling League for 20 years.
He was preceded in death by a son, Willie Ivory in 1996; three sisters; four brothers; and his parents.
He is survived by his loving wife, Beatrice of 30 years; four sons, Rodney Hunter of Elgin, Charles Williams of Kansas City, MO, Morris (Mary) Williams of CA, and Tony Williams of Elgin; six daughters, Terri (Michael Clemons) Woods of Streamwood, Cammie (Kevin) Thomas of Kansas City, MO, Joyce Burge of Kansas City, MO, Linda (Jerome) Walker, also of Kansas City, MO, Ruby Williams of Kingston, IL, and Carla Williams of Elgin; two sisters, Geneva (John) Bell of Newport, AK, and Florence Walker of Greenville, MS; 33 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; three nephews, Nathan and Cleo Griffin, and Leon Williams; and a host of great nieces and nephews; and a special daughter-in-law to be, Earlene Hunley.
Visitation will be Friday, May 6, 2005 from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the O'Connor-Leetz Funeral Home, Elgin. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, May 7th at 11:30 AM at Philidelphia Missionary Baptist Church, 76 Jackson Street, Elgin, with the Rev. Mattie Johnson, officiating. Burial will be in River Valley Memorial Gardens, Dundee.
