Dallas B. Cooper
Dallas B. Cooper, 40, of Pinellas Park, FL died Saturday, May 1, 2004 at home, He moved here from his native Elgin, Illinois in 1970. Locally he attended Glad Tiding Assembly of God Church where he frequently volunteered for different church functions, he was also an avid exercise enthusiast and bike rider. He was a meat cutter for Winn-Dixie.
Mr. Cooper is survived by his mother and step-father, Jesse C. and Bonnie J. Davis of St. Petersburg; a sister, Wendy Keown of Louisville, Kentucky; a brother, Chad P. Cooper of Easton, Pennsylvania; a companion, Sharia Hinton of Pinellas Park; a step brother, Jeremy Davis of St. Petersburg; seven nieces and nephews.

Gayle M. Erckfritz
Gayle M. Erckfritz, 58, of West Dundee died Sunday, May 2, 2004 at the Kindred Hospital in Sycamore. She was born in Elmhurst on December 20, 1945. She was the daughter of Harold and Barbara (nee Weber) Bach. Gayle was a lifelong resident of the area. She was a long time member of the Solid Rock Free Will Baptist Church of Elgin.
Survivors include her loving husband of 39 years, Bradford Erckfritz. They married
on April 3, 1965; their daughters, Tammy and Melissa; grandchildren, Jessica, Ashley, Michelle and Nick; sisters, Audrey Ticer of AR and her twin sister, Gloria (John) Erckfritz of Elgin; her brother-in-law, Dennis Marcy of TN; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Barbara Marcy and two brothers-in-law.
Family and friends will meet for funeral services on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. in the Solid Rock Free Will Baptist Church 36 W. 540 South St. in Elgin. The Rev. Carl Hawkins will officiate. Burial will follow in the River Valley Memorial Gardens, West Dundee. Visitation will be on Wednesday in the Solid Rock Free Will Baptist Church of Elgin from 4-8 p.m. and on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service. Please omit flowers, memorials may be made to the Solid Rock Free Will Baptist Church of Elgin. The Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee is in charge of arrangements.
Lucile Knupper
Lucile Knupper, 89, of Elgin passed away Saturday, May 1, 2004 in the Apostolic Christian Resthaven, Elgin. She was born on July 27, 1914 in Mason City, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Gertrude (Tietz) Fischer. Lucile, along with her beloved husband, Richard, had owned and operated the Knupper Nursery and Garden Center of Palatine, IL from 1934 until she sold it in 1989. She was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church of Elgin.
Survivors include three children, Margaret (David) Thiessen of Woodstock, IL, Anita (William) Hughey of Oxford, Arkansas and Barbara Knupper of Glenwood Springs, CO; two grandchildren, Kathryn (David) Bond of Cary, IL and Michael Lambert.
preceded in death by her husband, Richard in 1968; her grandparents, Katie and Casper Bruschinsky, who raised her as their own; and her mother-in-law, Minna Knupper.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10 AM in the Apostolic Christian Church, 2750 W. Highland Ave, Elgin. Burial will be in Bluff City cemetery, Elgin. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4 to 8 PM in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin and on Wednesday in the church from 9 AM until time of services. Memorials may be made to the Apostolic Christian Resthaven or church.
Kathleen G. Long
Kathleen G. Long, 38, of Hampshire, passed away Tuesday, May 4, 2004 at Sherman Hospital in Elgin.
She was born June 18, 1965 in Chicago, the daughter of Charles and Judith (Kindness) Long. Kathy was a 1982 graduated of East Leyden High School and had attended Southern Illinois University. She had been employed as a police dispatcher with the Schaumburg Police Department for the past several years and for several municipalities prior.
Surviving are her parents, Charles and Judith Long of Hampshire; sister, Judith Ann Long of Hampshire; brother, Michael (Monica) Long of Chippewa Falls, WI; her niece, Sammantha; paternal grandmother, Genevieve Sarenac of Bristol, WI; godmother, Elizabeth Rogers of Norridge; and several aunts, uncles and cousins; and her cat, "Sammi".
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Daniel Sarenac and John and Florence Kindness.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, May 7, at the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 297 E. Jefferson St., Hampshire with Fr. Joseph Nicolosi officiating. Burial will be in the St. Charles Borromeo cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Fredrick Funeral Home, 284 Park St., Hampshire.

Ralph J. Mirs
Ralph J. Mirs, 85, of Carpentersville passed away on May 1, 2004 at Sherman Hospital. He was born on November 11, 1918 and is the son of Charles and Dora Hartman Mirs.
He was employed by Shedd-Bartush in Elgin as a truck driver and retired in 1980 after 23 years.
He is survived by his daughter, Beverly Mirs of Carpentersville; his son, Roger Mirs of Woodstock. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Andrew and Lauren, both of Woodstock; his sister, Ardyme Thorgason of CO.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Florence in 2001; two sisters, Bernice and Frances.

Norma G. Schmitendorf
Norma G. Schmitendorf, 81, of Hampshire, passed away Sunday night, May 2, 2004 at Rosewood Care Center in Elgin.
She was born April 12, 1923 in Elgin the daughter of William and Blanche (Antonides) Albright. Norma grew up in the Huntley area and Plato Center area where she was a valedictorian of the 1941 graduating class of Plato Center High School. Norma married
Donald G. Schmitendorf on November 14, 1942 in Plato Center and they farmed in the Hampshire area for most of their married
life. She had been employed as a secretary for Prairie State Select Sires in Pingree Grove for 23 years, retiring in October of 1993. Mrs. Schmitendorf was a longtime member of the St. Peter Lutheran Church of Pingree Grove.
Surviving are four children, Kathryn "Kay" (Dan) Cox, Gail (Larry) Thompson, Patti Schmitendorf, William (Sharon) Schmitendorf all of Hampshire; 17 grandchildren, Tracy (Tom) Oranger, Tammy (Charlie) Reser, Tara (Daniel) Smith, Tina Cox, Brenda (Alan) Fuller, Alan (Tracy) Thompson, Steve Thompson, Rachel (Andrew) Benson, Gwen (Jason) Christianson, Lucas Haberstich, Adam Haberstich, Brent Schmitendorf, Jeremiah (Mandy) Schmitendorf, Matt Schmitendorf, Lori (Dave) Scheffler, Amber (Bret) Phillips and Ron Geske; 31 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many good friends.
Mrs. Schmitendorf was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald on December 20, 1980; brothers, Warren and David Albright; and grandson, Michael Thompson.
Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 5, at the St. Peter Lutheran Church, 14N205 Reinking Rd., in Pingree Grove with the Rev. Loren Krout officiating. Burial will be in the Hampshire Center cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Fredrick Funeral Home, 284 Park St., Hampshire and on Wednesday prior to services from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the church.

Freda Smith
Freda Smith, 64, of Fairfield Glade, TN, passed away May 1, 2004. She was born May 21, 1939 in Oneida, TN, the daughter of Cecil Milton and Lila Terry Blankenship. She had worked in Administration for the U-46 School District in Elgin, IL, was a member of Fairfield Glade Baptist Church and the Baptist Women's Circle. She loved flowers and gardening.
She is survived by her husband, J.W. Smith of Fairfield Glade, TN; sons, Eric (Jean) Smith of Springfield, TN and Weston (Jackie) Smith of Peru, IL; brothers, Milton Cecil Blankenship of Oneida, TN and Willard Terry Blankenship of Arkansas; her sister, Etta Marie Jeffers of Georgia; grandchildren, Jennifer Lynn, Eric J. II, Amanda Grace, Faith Danielle and Austin James Smith; and also several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 6, 2004 at 10 AM from the chapel of Hood Funeral Home with burial in Crossville City cemetery. Rev. Tom Shelton will be officiating. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 5, 2004 from 1 to 3 PM at Hood Funeral Home.

Robert T. Schwarzkopf, Sr.
Robert T. Schwarzkopf, Sr., 86 of Carpentersville, died Wednesday, May 4, 2005 at the Heritage Manor Nursing Center in Elgin. He was born on July 4, 1918 in Chicago. He was the son of Maximillion and Margaret (nee Herring) Schwarzkopf.
He and his family were one of the original first five residents of the Meadowdale Subdivision in Carpentersville. He resided in his home for the past 52 years. He was a former employee of the Chicago Furniture Mart located in the Meadowdale Shopping Center retiring after 30 years of service. He was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church of West Dundee and a former many year member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Carpentersville. For many years he was active in Boy Scouting and served as Troop Leader for Carpentersville Troop #39 Boy Scouts of America. He also was a proud American Veteran who served in the United States Army Air Corp during WWII.
He was a member of the Elgin American Legion Post #57. He was an avid reader and enjoyed woodworking.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Norma (nee Lerps) Schwarzkopf. They married
on April 19, 1941. Their children, Robert T., Jr. (Diane L.) Schwarzkopf of Poplar Grove and Deborah (James) Furr of Huntley. Grandchildren, Heidi (Michael) Stoeck of Olathe, Kansas, Amy (Matthew) Stone of Clay, New York, Hans (Julia) Schwarzkopf of Shephard, Michigan and Greta Schwarzkopf of Peoria, IL. Great Grandchildren, Benjamin, Samuel and Elizabeth Stoeck, all of Olathe, Kansas.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Frederick.
Family and friends will meet for funeral services on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, West Dundee. Mr. Frank Hewitt, Director of Parish Ministries will officiate. Burial will follow in the Dundee Township East cemetery in East Dundee. Jerome L. "Jerry" Seyller
Plato Center - Jerome L. "Jerry" Seyller, 88, of Plato Center, passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2005 at Provena St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin.
He was born September 19, 1916 in Elgin the son of Edward and Helen (Lester) Seyller. Jerry was a 1934 graduate of Plato Center High School. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II as a chief warrant officer in the 100th Bomb Group. Jerry married
Claire Tazewell on April 24, 1943 in Pueblo, Colorado and three days later he shipped out to England where he served for 26 months. Following the war, Jerry returned to Plato Center where he helped his father and his brother, Glenn, in the operation of Ed Seyller & Sons. He later worked as a heavy equipment operator for 18 years with Curran Construction retiring in 1986. He was a longtime bus driver serving two generations of children.
Mr. Seyller served as a volunteer firefighter for over 40 years helping organize the Pingree Grove/Countryside Fire Protection District, and serving as fire chief for 23 years. He was a member of the Cornerstone Methodist Church, the Kane Co. Fire Chiefs, Hampshire VFW Post #8043, Operating Engineers Local #150, and he was a 60 year member of Genoa Masonic Lodge #288 A.F. & A.M. He loved to dance and enjoyed playing cards and going out for breakfast.
Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Claire; daughter, Betsey (Larry) Warrington of Kabetogama, MN; son, Jay (Linda) Seyller of Virgil; three grandchildren, Chad (Sabrina) Warrington of Carson, CA, Sally (David) McRoberts of Kabetogama, MN, Amy Seyller of Virgil; two great-grandchildren, Nathan and Cameron McRoberts; a brother, Glenn Seyller of Huntley; sister, Edna "Toots" Haines of Gilberts; and a sister-in-law, Jean Ehlersof Elgin.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Vera "Bebe" Yarborough.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 7, 2005 at the Cornerstone Methodist Church, 41W170 Russell Rd., Plato Center with the Rev. Paul C. Meyers officiating. Burial with military honors will be in the Plato Center cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 6, 2005 at the Fredrick Funeral Home, 284 Park St., Hampshire and at the Church prior to services from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday.

Frank Albert Chapman
Frank Albert Chapman, 72, passed away Sunday, April 25 in his home in Valley Springs, South Dakota.
Survived by his children, Scott (Lynda) Chapman of Elgin, IL, Tamara (Bruce) Severson of Marengo, IL, Brian (Patricia) Chapman of Prior Lake, MN; his companion, Sandy Siewert of Valley Springs, South Dakota; four grandchildren, Alexandra, Andrew, Tara and Taylor; 11 brothers and sisters, Mildred Johnson, Evelyn Campbell, Robert Chapman, Howard Chapman, Roger Chapman, George Chapman, Virginia Flores, Ennis Chapman, Carol Bakey, James Chapman and Shirley Hillshien.
preceded in death by his wife of 32 years, Donna (Hunding) Chapman; his parents, Frank Albert Chapman, Sr. and Helen Roberts.
He was born in Burlington, IL on May 16, 1931. He was a carpenter for Robert Gould Construction for 20 years and then started Frank Chapman Construction until his retirement. Member of the First United Methodist Church of Elgin, Loyal Order of the Moose and veteran of the Korean War.
There will be a memorial service held on Saturday, May 8 at Burlington Methodist Church at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Burlington Methodist Church would be appreciated.
Marjorie Ruth Goeke
Marjorie Ruth Goeke, 88, of Elgin, passed away Wednesday, May 5, 2004 at her home. She was born July 7, 1915 in San Luis Obispo, CA the daughter of Carl and Frances DuBois Meyer. She had been a resident of Elgin for over 35 years. She was a Registered Nurse before retiring.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Elgin. She was active in the Women's Group of the church.
Surviving are two daughters, Barbara (Larry) Olin of Chicago, Lianne (Keith) DeBoer-Rockensock of Elgin; two granddaughters, Robbin Valentich of Elgin and Hallie (Simon) Glennie of Wayne; one great grandson, Charles David Glennie; foster daughter, Margie (Richard) Deiter of Rockford, IL; one brother, C.O. Meyer of Sierra Vista, AZ; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wilbur David Goeke in 1999; two brothers, John and Charles and one sister, Kathryn.
Private graveside services will be held Friday, May 7 at Dundee Township East cemetery, East Dundee with Rev. Mike Frantz officiating. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to First Baptist Church of Elgin. Laird Funeral Home, Elgin is in charge of arrangements.
